Allowing caller to route to an extension while listening to call handler greeting

We have a Unity 7.x server.  We want to configure it such that when an outside caller dials into the main line (hits a call handler), they can tap in an extension at any time during the playback of the opening greeting and be transferred to that extension. Not just the voice mailbox for that extension.  They want the call to be transferred to that extension.  Right now it is not working.  Instead the call just goes right to the voice mailbox of the extension that is entered during playback of the opening greeting.  In the "During greeting:" section of the call handler, the "Allow caller input" box is checked.  Under the "Caller Input", the "Allow callers to dial an extension during greeting" is also checked.  What's missing?

Go to the subscribers and under transfer settings set it to yes, ring subscriber phone. The default behavior is to send calls to VM and not ring the phone.
For this I assume you mean they already have a subscriber, for non-subscriber DNs you need a call system transfer.

  • CUC7.1, call handler greeting per language

    Hi,
I have two languages that English and French with CUC7.1, and I realized there is differnet greeting per language type. I thought both languages using same recorded greeting but just providing different language interface.
My background is from Unity server which is required different call handler to provide two differnet language (correct me if I'm wrong). If different greeting per language selection within call handler, can I use single call handler in CUC which is different mechanism with Unity server?
My current language selection logic from main AA is,
    -caller input 1=ch_english
    -caller input 2=ch_french
-ch_english's language=English, following sub call hander using English interface
-ch_french's language=French, following sub call handler using French interface
If i'm using single call handler with recording each greeting per language (English & French), how to provide the language selection option to caller?
(I tried to compare to UCCX which has differnet prompt file per language selection but looks CUC is different logic)
    Advise please!!!

    Hi there,
You are on the right track here completely
This behaviour has changed between Unity and Unity Connection. If you are
using a "single" number to reach your AA, then the design you have is perfect.
You have to let the Callers know what their options are, just like you have done.
If you had separate English and French access numbers then you could use
Routing Rules to direct the calls to the proper greeting within a shared Call
    Handler.
Here are a couple of good references from Unity/Unity Connection design

  • Shared DN not forwarding to Call Handler

I'm sure I'm probably over looking something simple but here is my problem.
I have a shared DN that forwards to Unity but instead of the Call Handler greeting I am geeting the Auto Attendant.  The Call Handler is set to record a message and send it to a public distribution list.
Anyone out that have any devine insight to my problem?

This is a direct call on and off network to the shared DN.
    The routing rule states:
    On
    Both
    Any
    Any
    2947
    Any
    Always
Send to greeting for NGAL J6 HELPDESK VOICEMAIL
I do not have the extension listed in the Call Handler.

  • Unity call handler problem

    Hello,
If somebody can help me with Unity configuration, I will be appritiated.
I`ve got a number 555 with system call handler configured on Unity and all call gets forwarded to VM. When I am calling to 555 from my phone everything works fine. But when I try to forward all calls from another extention, let`s say from 444 to 555, I am hiting default Unity greetings for the number 555 instead of system one.
    Any ideas much appritiated !
    Maxim

    Hi Maxim,
This is the expected behavior as Unity will see the Forwarded number
of 444 instead of 555 and doesn't know what to do with it.
So, let's say you want to route 444 to the 555 Call Handler.
You   could create a Voicemail Profile in CUCM called "555 Transfer  or   whatever"  which points to DN 555 (**Voicemail Box Mask = 555).
Apply this new  profile to 444 (under DN config page VM-Profile in CUCM) and  when calls route  through 444 and forward to voicemail they will  receive the 555 Call Handler Greeting etc.
You could also use the Forwarded Routing Rule set up in Unity to create a rule for this 444 to 555 forwarding.
    Cheers!

  • Call Handler answer inexistent extension

Hi, we are using Cisco Unity Connection 8.5.1ES16.11900-16 and an odd error is occurring.
We had a translation from CUCM to Unity Call Handler extension 104807, occurs that we were unable to change greetings on this specific call handler.
Prior to perform tests, we changed call handler extension from 104807 to 10480711, but while call to 104807 we still are able to hear 104807 old message.
While monitoring on Port Monitor it displays 104807 as Called, but that no longer exists on Unity.
Seems that 104807 got stucked on Unity Cache, but I could not find nothing on that sense by looking on forums.
Do we need to reboot Cisco Unity, or is there another way prior to resolve it?
PS. There are 2 Unity (Primary, and Failover) - according to Port Monitor calls are forwarding to Primary, where changes were made
PS. We made a workaround which were create a new Call Handler, hence service works, this thread is to obey current site design.
    Apretiate your help.

Hi, we figured that actually there was a Direct Routing Rule forwarding from 104807 to Call Handler (I forgot to check it ).
An odd behavior on Unity is that if we change Call Handler to a non system language (eg System default language is Spanish, and we change it to English) Unity play message "Sorry is not available".
I believe this was designed like that, but I don't see a reason to play such message for a Call Handler.
    Anyway, problem is resolved, thank's

  • HELP!  I am missing calls while listening to music on my iPhone 5.

    Device: iPhone 5
    Completelty upgraded to iOS 7.1.1
    Apps set to automatically update
    Carrier: Verizon
    Location - Atlanta, GA
This use to happen occassionally, but has become a more frequent issue as of late. When I am listening to my music player or watching Netflix/Amazon on my phone I am randomly missing phone calls.
For example...just this morning, my wife called me and said "are you OK, I've called 4 times." My reaction was once again annoyance and disbelief because I was simply driving down the interstate listening to my music. The phone never stopped the music to answer the call on her first four attempts and then the call apparently went through on her 5th attempt.
This has happened at least once EVERY day this week. I have missed calls from my friends, nanny and most importantly about 10-12 calls from my wife.
It really does appear to be completely random because once this week my wife called while I was driving into work listening to my music and the call came through on the first attempt. My music paused, I clicked ANSWER...no problems at all. The call lasted a few minutes, we hung up, and my music automatically started back up. 30 minutes later she called me back, while I was listening to music and the call never came through to me. My music didnt stop, my phone didnt ring and I do not have a missed call on my call log. She however showed me her call log and sure enough it took her 4 times to reach me for that second call.
Sometimes it only blocks one attempt on her part...other times it can be 3 or 4.  Needless to say, this is becoming a very annoying issue.
I do not have the "Do Not Distrub" feature activated.  I have NEVER used that feature.  Here are the settings, which I presume are the default setting, under the DND menu:  Again, these must be the default setting because I have not touched them.  Ever.
    Manual - turned off
    Scheduled - turned off
Allow calls from - Favorites.  I do not have any "favorites" programmed into my contacts.
Repeated Calls - this is turned ON
Silence - this has "Only while iPhone is locked" selected.
Also, my phone will periodically, randomly tell me I have a voice mail but not make a noise and not ring at all.  Text messages are also being ignored.  No sound, no buzz, and then all of a sudden I get abanner notification of having a voice mail/text message.
Again, it works MOST Of the time with no issue.
    Any thoughts on this?
Anyone else having the same issue?
Could this be a bug with iOS 7.1.1???
    Thank you,
    Ben

I skimmed through this very long post but from what I read, this sounds much more like a coverage issue with your network than a device issue.  I have not seen or heard of this issue before and I do not have this issue personnally and & I use the music app quite frequently while working in the yard.
The DND feature should not be a factor at all if you're sure it's turned off.  I always recommend restarting your phone by holding down the home button + the lock button for 10-12 seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Once the phone reboots, do a test to see if this has helped to resolve the issue.
If not, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.  Then, test it out again.  Post back if neither of these solutions solve your issue.

  • Unity Connection 8.5 | Prepend Digits to Dialed Extensions overlap with an option in a call handler

    Hi,
One customer has requested to set up a call handler in Unity Connection 8.5. The call handler should be capable of transfering calls to IP phones by dialing the last 4 digits of the IP phone's extension. The last 4 digits of the extension from all IP phones begin with 12. However, the customer is also requesting to have an option on the same call handler, so that if users would dial 1, the call is transfered to an IP phone
As you can see, there is an overlap between the last 4 digits of all IP phone's extensions, and an option in the call handler. Therefore, if I configure both options in the same call handler, when the users would press 1, Unity Connection will immediately send the call to the extension setup for option 1, even if the user wants to dial the last 4 digits of an IP phone extension
One possible solution would be to change the option in the call handler to transfer the call to an IP phone, to something different than 1. However, the customer wants to have this transfer to be performed when he press option 1
Is there any other possible solution for achieving this?
    Thanks in advance

I don't see any problem, just don't check the option to ignore additional input when configuring caller input on digit 1
By default CUC will give you 1500 ms to dial for any other digits before trying to route the call with whatever you dialed.

I have created a PDF and password protected it for view. However, when reading the PDF in Adobe Reader app on the iPad the commenting and annotation options are not available. Is there a way to allow commenting and annotation in the app while password protecting the document?

Is there a setting that needs to be set to allow the annotation features?  I set password protection to open and then password for editing and set it to Any except page extraction, but it still did not give the annotation option

  • Deleting Extension while exporting to Pdf or Postscript only hide it

    Hi all,
I need to be able to delete the "ps" or "pdf" extension while exporting to a pdf or postscript file in the printing menu on macosX.
When i try to delete the extension in the saved name, it quote the "hide extension button" and when unquoting the "hide extension" button, the extension re-appears.
How can i change this issue?
    Thanks in advance.
    Julien.

    Welcome to the forums Julien!
I'd be very curious as to the "need" to do this, but it appears you're 100% correct. It seems you can only rename it after the fact to lose the .ps or .pdf.

  • While listening to itunes on my iphone I don't what the music to stop when a call comes in

while listening to itunes on my iphone I don't want the music to stop when a call comes in

That's the way it works. If you don't want to be bothered with calls while you're listening to music, put it in airplane mode.

But why pay for a solution. You can do the same thing with "Share My Desktop" and "Chicken of the VNC".

  • My phone isn't allowing calls

i have a nokia 6230 or it could be a nokia 6230i. i recently bought the phone and it was working fine. i had credit and the phone was making calls and acceptong calls but now it won't do both. it is still allowing me to send and receive messages but not calls.

    Hello aodan ,
Have you tried another sim card just to make sure your sim is not faulty. Also try your sim card in another fone to see if you can make calls etc. This will allow you to confirm wether its the fone or the sim
If another sim card will not allow calls then it must be your fone.
I would then suggest you take it to a nokia centre so they can test it for you and perhaps perform an update, although I would suggest you back up and pics or tones as these will be lost in the software update process.

  • Call Handler Transfer Issue

I have a Unity 4.0 system that is exhibiting the following behavior.
Inbound calls go to voice mail. Recorded prompt notifies caller that they can press 1 to transfer to cell number.
Caller input within the Unity subscribers account is programmed to "Send caller to attempt transfer for [a specific Call handler that is set to]" "Yes, ring a subscriber at this extension: [users cell number]"
When the caller calls the users DID, the call flow completes correctly without any issues.
When the caller calls any of our main lines, we have several published company phone numbers, and then either enters the end users extension, which is allowed via a recorded attendant, or chooses the operator and is then manually transfered to the end users extension, the caller, upon pressing 1 to transfer to the cell phone experiences one of the 4 following behaviors.
    1. The call transfers to the cell phone but the call terminates before the end user succesfully answers the call.
    2. The caller hears the prompt "your call can not be completed as dialed,  [Wireless Cellular Carrier Name]".
    3. Example Administrator is not available.
    4. A Voice Mail tone prompt without any preceding recording.
I have over a dozen out of 200 + accounts programmed for this feature. All accounts are utilizing the same PRIs for inbound and outbound calls. All accounts use the same gateways, interfaces, Calling Search Space, Partition, Device Pool, Route Group, Route List and Route Pattern.
Of these accounts that utilize this feature programming, 3, including a test phone that I just set up patterned after one account that is exhibiting this unwanted behavior, function correctly no matter where the call comes from.
Originally, all accounts exhibited this unwanted behavior but after modifying all associated call handlers with the following, the three afore mentioned accounts function correctly.
Changes to call handler: Changed Transfer Type from "Release to Switch" to "Supervise Transfer" and "Rings to Wait" from 2 to 3.
Any suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated.

Here is an update to this issue. Through additional testing I've determined the following.
Unless the transfered call is answered by the cell phone immediately, the call transfer fails and the call is instead transfered to the message recipient set within the call handler. By default, this is Example Administrator. I can change the owner of and message recipient of the call handler and the call does go into that subscriber's voice mail without any greeting.
Again, this behavior only occurs when the originating call is transfered from one call handler to the transfer to cell phone call handler. If the originating call is to the users DID, the call transfers without any issues.
