Also about attaching library

Hi, everyone,
when I run the form, it warn me:
FRM-40039:Cannot attach library TalbotStandard while opening from WORKERSKILL
what's this mean? How should I do?
Please see my last topic, it's all about attaching library.
thank you for your great help!

When you attach library, a dialog box appear with a message of non-poratable directory. If you press remove-path yes button and again open the form next time. It shows the message cant attache lib.
This is bcoz the pll u created lying in a directory which is not know to your oracle. To overcome you need to do either one of these two:
1) add your work directory name in registery key "FORMS60PATH" seperated with semicolon.
2) change the "start in" directory as your current directory in the shortcut which u use to launch ur forms.

  • Questions about my library just moved to NAS.  Download errors.  Would USB be better?

Thanks for reading.  My situation is that my itunes library is running about 500gb and I needed to get it off my imac.  I bought a 2TB NAS and copied the entire library folder to that drive and changed itunes to go there.
What I'm finding is that downloading daily podcasts is a chore.  It's real slow.  I had to turn off simultaneous downloads and allow only a single download at a time.  Otherwise it would certainly beach ball.
Also, buying anything from itunes seems to result in a "network reset" error and I have to sit there and click "resume" 2 or 3 times.
I'm wondering if I've done something wrong?
Would it be better if I spring for a 2.0 USB drive and keep it connected to my imac that way rather than going through the servers where the NAS is connected in the house?
I also use this library to feed the apple TV that we use a lot.
    Thanks.

I have a post on reorganizing things before attempting to move them from one computer to another which runs as follows:
    Make a split library portable
Here are the typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
In the layout above right, with the media folder (everything in the red box) inside the library folder, the library is considered to be portable. A portable library can be moved from one path to another without breaking the links from the library to the media, and being self-contained it is much easier to backup and restore. (You do backup, don't you?).
You can rearrange things to make a split library portable by taking a number of small steps which don't break the library.
Before you start any media files that are outside of the media folder will need to be consolidated. If the library is in the old style layout then it should be upgraded to iTunes Media Organization (Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder <Media Folder>) to ensure that iPod Games, Mobile Applications etc. are brought inside the media folder, otherwise the links to these won't survive changes in the path of the library.
    The basic non-fatal manipulations are:
You can create or connect to an alternate set of library files by holding down Shift (Win) or Option (Mac) when starting iTunes. (Note iTunes will continue to use this library until you use the same method again.)
You can move the library files to a new location and connect to it there as long as the media stays put.
You can move the library files and the media together if the media folder is a direct subfolder of the library folder.
If you have already moved/copied the media content from a subfolder of the library folder to a different location then you only need to copy the library files for it to appear as if you have moved the entire library in the way allowed above. I.e. just copy the library files into the parent folder of the media folder.
You can rename the media folder to iTunes Media (if it isn't already) if the media folder is inside the library folder.
iTunes uses the name of the folder holding the library files as the window title. Having made a library "portable" you may need to take a final step of renaming the library folder to iTunes or, if the library files have ended up at the root of a drive, moving all of the library files and content folders into a new folder called iTunes.
IMPORTANT: After each change you need to open, test and close the relevant library before attempting another change. If a change broke the library, undo it or revert to using the previous set of library files.
In essence all you need to do to join up a split library and make it portable is copy the library files into the parent folder of the media folder on the external/secondary drive and use the hold-down-shift/option-when-starting-iTunes method to connect to it. Other manipulations may be required to normalize the library so that the library and media folders have standard names.
In your case I'm suggesting that you can use 2. to relocate your library files to a faster internal drive while leaving the media on the NAS (splitting the library), and that you would then use 4. to join your split library back together again before attempting to move it to a different drive.
After using 2. you would need to make sure that under iTunes Preferences > Advanced the media folder was pointed to iTunes Media on the NAS. There is also an issue with such split libraries that iTunes can sometimes reset the media folder if the NAS/external appears to be offline when iTUnes starts up.

  • Can not attach library for use OC4J

    Hi,
I am new to Oracle designer and have go to the point where I am trying to run a form I generated in Oracle Designer but the error I keep having is FRM-40039 cannot attach library - I get this for four libraries that are attached to the form; OFGCALL. OFGTEL, OFGNAVL, OFGMES. I have been playing about and attaching/removing them from the form, and saying NO to the dialog box that comes up saying 'attached library name xxxx contains a non-portable directory specification. Remove path?' seems to mean that the form will then start to have an error on one of the other libraries - so you would think that by attaching them all in this way that the form would run - but it doesnt.
Can someone please help? I have checked the forms path in the registry and it does point to the folder where these pll and plx files are located.
    Many thanks

    Hello,
I am not sure to understand your question around OC4J and Forms/Designer.
I doubt that the issue is related to OC4J since OC4J is a pure J2EE/Web Services container that does not have direct links with OracleAS Forms Server.
I am inviting you to post this question in Oracle Designer or Forms forums

  • HELP error FRM-40039: Cannot attach library common while opening form

    Hi
I want to help me with the NEXT issue is urgent.
I'm working with forms 10g and using a linux server. To compile objects, forms, reports and menus use the Putty.
Well the issue is that when a form hanging linux server I get the error message sgte:
FRM-40039: Can not attach library while opening form common ....
I tried changing the path FORMS_PATH, also put the. PLL. Plx on those routes Server
but I have no result, I still leave the same message.
I go to pc urgently to solve this problem that has me worried for days.
Thanks in advance for your advice
    regards

    Three possible causes:
    1. The pll is not existnant on the linux-server in the FORMS_PATH or the FORMS_PATH-environment-variable is not set.
    2. When attaching the pll to forms you have attached it without removing the path. Try to deattach and reattach the pll in the form.
    3. The attachment of a pll is case-sensitive in linux. So, when you types the pll-name is lowercase when attaching it, the pll must exist in lowercase in the linux-filesystem.

  • FRM-40039 Cannot attach library in Forms9i

I have an app that works in 6i that was recompiled in 9i and deployed to a server. The 9i app works locally (connecting to a db not on my machine), but will not work on the server. When I run on the server I get the error 'FRM-40039 Cannot attach library XXX while opening form YYY'. I have the same folder configuration on the server that I do on my laptop. I copied the libraries from their 'normal' location to OracleHome\bin, but I still get the error. I removed one of the libraries attached to the form, and received the error on the second library. The libraries are in the form without a path (just the library name). Can anyone help me? I need to go to QA in 2 days!!! Help!
    Thanks -- Jean.

Couple of things to watch for. PLLs are looked for on the FORMS90_PATH - this is set up in the default.env file when you are running. So make sure the path is set correctly.
Also remember that if you are moving to Unix from Windows, Unix is case sensitive so
myFile.pll is not the same as MYFILE.PLL
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot attach library - 9i web forms on unix

    Hi,
I've compiled my forms on the unix server to be deployed using the servlet. However, when I try and run the forms over the web, I get FRM-40039 cannot attach library. Has anybody else encountered this error on 9iAS when trying to deploy web enabled forms?
If so, how can this be resolved?
    Thanks in advance

In moving from Windows to Unix, make sure that you are taking into account case-sensitivity. (i.e. in Unix bob.pll and Bob.pll are different files). Make sure you are referencing it correctly.
Also, the forms90_path environment var should have the directory for all the files.
The pll should have been ftp'd using binary.
Lastly, make sure the pll is attached with the path removed.
    Good luck
    Bob

  • Genius can't complete "gathering information about your library"  Help!

I am using iTunes 9. I have a 78 GB music library on a network attached drive (it is where my iTunes folder is). iTunes works fine but I cannot turn on Genius. When I try, the status bar opens and it says "gathering information about your library". The status bar fills up about 20% and then I get the spinning beachball. It sits there until I force quit iTunes (which is characterized as "not responding").
I have combed the discussion board to see what other people have done. Here's one thing I tried: quit itunes; went to home folder, then library, then preferences; deleted "com.apple.iTunes.plist"; went to itunes folder and deleted "itunes library extras.itdb" and "itunes library genius.itdb"; emptied trash; restarted iTunes. This did not work.
Does anyone have any other ideas? It looks like the Genius process is getting hung up on something, but I cannot figure out what. Thanks in advance!

Either go to ~/Library/Cookies and delete the file Cookies.plist
Or, if you don't want to delete all your Cookies, delete the relevant Apple cookies from Safari. To do so, quit iTunes, go to Safari and select Preferences -> Security -> Show Cookies. In the search text box enter apple.com. Select all of these files and click to Remove.
I did the first option and Genius worked fine afterwards.

  • Attached Library with 10g AS

i have updated the forms_path in default.env and registry but the functions inside the attached library are not appearing when i try to access the form from my client machine putting them on the server.
But this form works perfect on my local computer while developing that form
    Thanx in advance.

    Hi Zahid,
Beginning with Oracle Reports 10g Release 2 (10.1.2), running Reports Server as a Windows service is no longer supported (rwserver -install server_name). As a result, the related command line keywords INSTALL and UNINSTALL are also obsolete. If you start or stop a Reports Server that is managed by OPMN running as a Windows service or through the command line, you may face the following issues:
    * The Reports Server's status will not be reflected accurately in Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g.
    * Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g may display errors when starting or stopping Reports Server.
I suggest the following approach instead :
    1) create a standalone report server as a non-service using the following syntax:
    $ORACLE_HOME\BIN>rwserver server=reports_server_name batch=yes
    2) register the standalone report server with OPMN:
    MIDTIERHOME/bin> addNewServerTarget.bat reports_server_name
    MIDTIERHOME/opmn/bin> opmnctl stopall
    MIDTIERHOME/opmn/bin> opmnctl startall
    MIDTIERHOME/opmn/bin> opmnctl status

  • Frm-40039 -- unable to attach library

    Hi,
I used webutil.pll in my form and attached the webutil.olb in object group. It is going through in my machine[windows]. Then, I copied this form to unix server [using FTP] and did the following in solaris mc
[followed the steps as in webutil.pdf]
    1. default.env -- > form90_path
    forms_builder_classpath and classpath
    2. formsweb.cfg file is changed
    3. jar files are signed.
    4. jacob.jar and frmwebutil.jar are placed in appropriate folders.
    5. webutil.pll is compiled [webutil.plx]
Hope I have not missed out anything. But even then, When I run the url [Solaris based], while opening the form [it is being called from another form] which have that library, it is throwing Frm-40039 cannot attach library....error.
I browsed this otn site also. I don't know what I have missed.
Kindly help to sort out this issue please.

    Hi,
May be you attached library with path in your form file. If didn't remove attachment library path when attaching time then forms run time will look on that path when you attached. Please edit the form and reattach the library with out path.

i have more than 800 form ....I had more than 1000 forms to upgrade and compile to 10g....
As you use windows... you can simply... open the windows explorer...navigate directory - by directory where the 6i .fmb files are located , select them and simply press the 'Enter' button.... All the forms in this dir will be opened in forms builder 10g..... then... you know what you 'll do.....!!!!

  • Attaching library problem

    HI
I have trouble with attaching library to my forms.
    I work with develper 6i.
in formbuilder when I attach a library to my fmb file then i have to remove the path
because when i copy my fmx files to a new system it doesn't work.
and if i reopen my fmb file i must re attach the .pll file.
    what 's wrong with me.
    thanks in advance.

You need to ensure the files are on the FORMSXX_PATH - you must also make sure that if you are on a case sensitive OS (like UNIX) that the case is correct.
    ON unix - myFile.pll /= MYFILE.PLL.
