Alternatives to tab?

i am having to design a page with 3 levels of nested tabs(ugh).
Are there any ui components in portal that can be used instead of tabs?
I am sorry if this question is general, but hoping to just get some ideas.

If you need nested levels of pages you will have to use tabs. You can make the tabs look better.
You can edit the tabs to have an image. You could replace each tab with an image.

Hello all ,
I was wondering if there is any other working thats does the same job of having a tab control. What I would like to do is to, use a push button as go to screen and should be able to display a new screen and so forth. Please provide me with some feedback.

A couple of options...
Use a single page tab control and use the button to set the Visable property to hide/show the tab control.
Group the related controls and hide/show them
Use a sub-VI set as Show FP when opened and Close after.

Make text of inactive tabs visible

When a tab goes inactive, the text of the tab disappears, and I am left with only the logo. This is annoying in and of itself, but I routinely have a couple of tabs with a FIle, rather tha a web URL, and there's no logo for these, so they simply disappear into the background.
Couple that with the (default?) absence of any distinguishing features of inactive tabs, and the thing might just as well be closed!
Not really a Luddite (well, not that big a Luddite;-) but this seems to me to be traceable back to the Microsoft fascination with low-saturation pastel colours, which are very hard for those of us of a certain age to see. Can I urge that your user testing include people with diminished vision, so that you can hear early, and LOUD about the undesirable effects of some of these changes?
Browser configuration is beginning to resemble the US Tax Code - mostly unintelligible, and seemingly designed to perpetuate the priviliged position of a very few.

It seems like the shortest distance between my two points is to jiggle the Classic Restorer settings. Alternative Curved Tabs worked. Thanks for the help. Now if only there were some documentation to read to explain all these things proactively.....

How to I stop safari from automatically resizing the bookmark bar when I click on the search bar?

there is probably an eloquent way to ask this but I don't even know what the feature is called.
Here is what it's doing:
I'm using safari in landscape mode on my iPad.
I click on the search bar and then the bookmarks come up below.
It takes a second to automatically resize to a size that make no sense, usually cutting off bookmark titles...and the delay of it resizes drives me nuts.
Safari did not used to do this until I guess ios 8. Any ideas how to stop this annoying "feature"??

Try deleting the Cache.db...
Quit Safari.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari ...
You may want to try the Safari Reading List as an alternative to tabs.
Click the eyeglass icon just to the left of the Bookmarks icon top left side of the Safari window.
Drag the url to the window or click Add Page

Accounts Payable Check

I have two questions with regards to an RTF template for a AP Check;
1) How to get the signature files to display when I preview the check. I have uploaded the signatures and can view them via a URL. Should the signatures display when I preview my output in PDF format using Microsoft Word?
I followed the directions from http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2006/04/13#a12
2) The MICR line does not display in the proper font. I have uploaded the MICR font to my PC and also the database (Note #373377.1) but still have it displaying in a default font when I preview the report in PDF format.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

1) With the combination of a page break, group by on invoices and checks we did not build any special logic to get VOID to display on the first check.
The only thing we did a little different is build a nested table so the actual check always prints at the bottom of the page regardless of the number of invoices being paid.
We use the standard "Format Payments (Evergreen, Form Feed)" which is 37 invoices per remittance.
2) Your recommendation to resolve the MICR font issue worked.
3) Here is some additional information we discovered on signature files referenced via a url;
a) They will not display from a secured location (i.e. - https) only http.
b) They only display if the object embedded into the RTF template is a picture.
c) If you use a text box and reference the URL in the 'Alternative Text' tab the signature will not display.
If you need more information about printing **VOID** on the first page let me know!

Why doesn't windows list contain list of windows?

using version 34.0.5 on mac and with latest update I no longer have a list of open windows under the windows menu. How can I correct this ?

There is bug report for this problem, so it will hopefully be resolved soon:

In the meantime, until it's fixed you might find Firefox's tab groups a useful alternative:

Alternatively, you might be able to switch between Firefox windows by right-clicking the Firefox icon on your dock, or by prssing Cmd+` on your keyboard.
(Cmd is the key that has a ⌘ symbol)

Data source in EP7

Hi all gurus!
We are trying to use Solution Manager as data source for logon in our EP7 but we can't get the settings right. We have used an existing installation as a "template" but it doesn't work and it might be because the other portal is of version 6.
They are able to keep the config file dataSourceConfiguration_databese_only.xml and still see and use the tab "SAP System". Here they enter the data for their Solution Manager system and test it. They then go to config tool and change the file to dataSourceConfiguration_r3.xml, restart the server and everything work.
To begin with, we can't se the tab "SAP System" at all but if we choose "ABAP System" in the drop down list "Data Source" (wich by the way doesn't contain a r3-alternative) a tab named "ABAP System" appears. Here we enter the data for Solution Manager but the test fails. So here is my first question:
Is the template ABAP ok to use with SolMan?
In the instructions from the other company, and which you saw above, it says that data source shall be database only and that you change to ...r3.xml in configtool. We tried that also, we chose "ABAP System", made the settings and then changed to ...r3.xml in configtool but the server won't start then. So, two more questions:
Are the test fool proof? Since we disregarded the fact that the test failed and went on to configtool...
Is the ...r3.xml a "valid" template to use in our version (was 7.0), since the server didn't start properly?
And the last question:
The user in SolMan that is used for the connection, of what type should he be? Service, Communication Data or something else or is without relevance? And what groups and roles should be added to him?
Can anybody give some advice with this information?

The username isn't important, but if you add the SID at the end it means you can change the password for the SAPJSF user for a particular portal without affecting the other users.
Anyway, to your problem.
No tests are foolproof - if the test fails but the portal starts that is OK for me! When you select ABAP as the type, it will change automatiaclly to dataSourceConfiguration_abap.xml - leave this as is.
Have you followed the instructions in <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/49/9dd53f779c4e21e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm">this link</a>? It is reasonably well documented.

Reference a document in the material master

I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a way that we can do the following....
We basically want to have a field/location in the Material Master that will reference a document stored somewhere on a network server and in turn, display and print on the PO (the document name prints, not the contents). Any suggestions of where to start?
So in the MM for Material # 123456
MyField = "MyInspectionDoc.pdf" (MyInspectionDoc.pdx resides on \\mynetworkserver\MyInspectionDoc.pdf)

Is there a way to have an attachment in the MM that will automatically be pulled into the PO when the PO is created (with the material item as a line item in the PO of course)

I think you are mixing DMS (document management) with GOS (generic object services)
GOS content is created as shown in your screen shots.
You cannot even see from any transaction which materials have a GOS attachment. The GOS attachment can only be accessed from the object (material master) where it was created.
DMS is a central component in SAP and embedded to the material master like it is done with classification too.
You can create the documents in CV01N transaction and link to the material or directly from material master. you can use CV04N to search for documents
In the material master you will find the link to the document in alternative data tab where you have as well your alternative units.

Those material master attachments/documents do not print automatically in a PO, for this you have to do some ABAP development

Login in discoverer administrator.
Go to your business area containing the table(folder).
Go to Item classes tab.
Select item as "your table name: Month nm"
Select Edit->Edit
Go to Alternative Sort tab
Select monthName as Alternative sort sequence
Press OK.
Login in desktop and run your workbook.

Sometimes, when you look at a list of values, you will see that it is not in the order that you would like. To overcome this, you can use what is called an alternative sort. In order to use an alternative sort, you must have another unique item available in the folder that contains the item on which you created the list of values.
This alternative item must be one of the following:
- Another unique and available item, such as month end date
- An artificially created sequence number
Among the most common data elements that sort in the wrong order are days of the week and months of the year. For both of these you will need to create an alternative sort if you want your users to see the list displayed in the right order.
To add an alternative sort, use the following workflow:
1. Click the Item Classes tab.
2. Expand the list of item classes.
3. Locate the list of values that needs the alternative sort.
4. Right-click on the item class, and from the pop-up menu, select Edit Item Class.
5. In the Edit Item Class dialog box, click the Alternative Sort tab.
6. Select the item that will be used to generate the new alternative sort.
7. Click the OK button.
8. Recheck the list of values.

Just to add information and path for the same :
As suggested make an entry in the alternative data .
In VM you can create different PUrchasing data and different Partner function for the vendor sub range . You need to assign the material to a vendor subrange in the info record . To check wether the multicurrency applied or opted by you enter the plant and a view as purchase data , then select the currency different than the present one select the line in the alternative data tab in the Change vendor :different data Screen and click on the purchase overview icon/tab you will see the currencies maintained along with other control data for that vendor .

Enter Vendor, Company Code & Purchase Organization
Now select purchasing data check box in purchasing organization data tab & press enter
In new screen click Alternative Data
System will askdo you want to create dif data & click Yes
In next screen enter your plant and select check box of purchasing data in alternative data tab& save.
In this way u can assign ur plant to vendor.
