ALV output graphical display

Hi All,
I want to display an ALV grid with 3 columns.
First column containes an image,
Second and third columns contain a counter value. The counter should be as a digital score board as we have in hockey.
Any idea as how I can get a dynamic image of counter to display in the 2 columns?

You just pass ur internal table to this Function module - Do you need to display column captions etc ?? In that case you will have to use GRAPH_MATRIX_2D.

Strange behaviour in alv output display for a date column!

hi friends,
my alv output list display contains a column for budat (posting date), if this field has no value, then it displays a blank cell (space) in the output in my user login...but when the same report is run in another user login, even though the value of the column is null, it displays 00000000 (8 zeroes) rather than displaying a blank cell...i have set the field catalog property NO_ZERO = 'X'; is this property has anything to do with authorization to achieve its funcionality? am not sure...this is strange, as it is the same report, same field catalog that is being used..need some inputs on this

There are 2 solutions for an adhoc solution you can change the field to a char10 field, this will solve your immediate problem of the 0 display. For a permanent solution you can check the user profile setting for the date for you as well as the concerned user.

Initial ALV output display

Hello,
I have one query witl regards to ALV output. After entering data in the selection screnn my ALV output gets displayed and there is no issue with it. The ALV is in display mode and if i click on the change button the ALV becomes editable. So fat it is fine.
The area of concern is the initial ALV output even though it is in display mode looks as if it is editable ALV. On click of the change button, then the ALV is shown in display mode and it is easily identifiable.
The user feels the initial ALV output is confusing and that he is not able to recognize whether it is display/editbale ALV. How can we fix it so that client can identify it?
Also, how do we get all the standard ALV buttons that we get in SE38 output in webdynpro? Please help.

Add button to QA33 ALV output list

I need to add a custom button to the ALV output list display in QA33 transaction.
I´ve only found the BAdi ALV_SWITCH_GRID_LIST, but it doesn´t fit my requirements at all.

"Select Layout" option in alv output

Hi All,
I have developed a ALV report.
In the output, on clicking the "Select Layout" button, a small window opens with some layout option/variant say "ZSLEB".
When i choose this layout, the output changes and takes the form of the chosen layout i.e. ZSLEB.
Now, on refresh, the alv output doesnt display this new layout, but goes back to the default layout/variant.
Actually, i am not passing anythin to the IS_Variant parameter in the ALV_GRID_Display FM.
I suppose i need to somehow manage to fetch the "ZSLEB" layout value during refresh and pass it to Is_Variant. Please help me in doing this.

Variant information
Description
This structure is only relevant if display variants are to be saved and/or read.
Variant information including the name of the list variant that is used to output the list.
To allow display variants to be read within the ALV, you must specify the acess path using fields REPORT (required field), HANDLE (optional field) and/or LOG_GROUP (optional field).
If you also want to allow display variants to be saved, you must additionally fill parameter I_SAVE accordingly.
See also the documentation on IMPORTING parameter I_SAVE.
A variant is uniquely described through:
The program to which the variant is assigned (REPORT)
The handle (HANDLE), if, for example, multiple lists with different structures and data are called in a program (I_CALLBACK_PROGRAM).
The handle is a CHAR(4) field that must be uniquely defined and describes the assignment of the call to the current structure of the internal output table.
Example:
Depending on the user interaction, several types of lists can be output in program x.
The user should be able to define display variants for each type of list.
You provide this function to the user by assigning a HANDLE to each list. If variants for the program and the handle are saved, the handle must not be modified any more.
The logical group, if, for example, the same list is created with different settings through various transactions (LOG_GROUP).
The logical group is a CHAR(4) that must be uniquely defined and specifies the assignment.
Example:
Program x is called through transactions T1 and T2. Depending on the transaction code, the fields available to the user through the field catalog differ in their assignment to different logical groups.
If variants for the program and the logical group are saved, the logical group must not be modified any more.
The user name, if user-specific variants are saved (USERNAME).
You do not have to fill this parameter manually since the variant name is unique.
The variant name (VARIANT).
You only have to fill this parameter if this structure is to be used to read a concrete variant and the list is to be output with this variant.
Value range
To call a list with a variant, you must specify the above fields.
Default
If the structure is initial, but saving is active (I_SAVE is not initial), then
IS_VARIANT-REPORT = I_CALLBACK_PROGRAM is set.

How to display ALV grid in a graphical display??

Hello All,
I want to display the ALV grid output in graphical format. I did not see any particular Function code or event in ALV for graphs. Hence I designed a PF status myself. But when I use the Function module "Graph_2D", it gives me an error.
Can you guys suggest which is the best Function module to display the ALV output in graphical format?

Total is not getting displayed in the ALV output.

The newly added field is not getting populated in the lv_fieldcat table. Tried running programs BALVBUFDEL,
BCALV_BUFFER_DEL_SHARED then logging off and logging in but of no help.

Fieldcat is buffered - so use
I_BYPASSING_BUFFER = 'X'
Since a while CL_GUI_ALV_GRID is available which does NOT need any fieldcat (is determined internally using RTTI). It is worth playing around whith this class if you have some time. This class is recommended for ALV Output by SAP (but no edit is possible - was never supported officially).
A simple use would be:
data: gt_output type standard table of (adjust!).
*simple ALV output
data go_alv type ref to cl_salv_table.
data go_functions type ref to cl_salv_functions_list.

How to display Long text in alv output

Hi,
I have developed an ALV report.It is displaying the output.
There is another requirment for alv output text field as below
From the long text fields show only the first 20 characters and afterwards the long text icon. If the icon is clicked open the long text display screen.
Please give your suggestion how to work on this requirement.

Create a hotspot for the long text column of ALV.
When user clicks on the hotspot, handle the event to display long text screen.
You may refer sample program of hotspot ALV :
Goto SE38
Type BCALV*
Click F4
search for HOTSPOT or EVENTS & you will get a sample program.

For the amount field / quantity field in the field catalog give DO_SUM = 'X' for WHOLE total
For SUBTOTAL
For subtotal you will have to create an internal table sort..Let's say you want to do subtotal for each customer..

I have one requirement. I have an ALV output. In this one date field is editable. Here User wants F4 Help. I have provided the F4 help, F4 help is coming but for F4 help i want the Factory Calendar type display. Currently the F4 help is coming like a normal F4 help.

I hope you have checked standard program 'bcalv_edit_08'.
in this program, if the type of field we are taking in that perticuler column is 'DATS' then it should display the calender.

Field of character length 255 not displaying in ALV output

Dear all,
i am trying to display a field of ztable with lenght 255 character, same is not displaying at ALV output.
it is displaying only upto 128 characters in ALV output.
table is Ztable-zfield with CHAR255 length.
please help me.

Hi Sam Johny,
In ALV Grid the maximum characters can be displayed in one column is 128 Characters..
But for your solution you can press Print Preview Button to view more text(or Press Ctrl + Shift + F10 )...
Else try with ALV LIST
and pass FIELDCAT-OUTPUTLEN = '255' for field in fieldcatalog
