Am I missing something when trying to fix a podcast feed issue?

Hi!
I've been working on this problem for about a month and I feel like I might be missing something obvious at this point.  So, I post it here in the hopes that one of you might be able to offer a suggestion on how I can fix my dilemma.
About a month ago I launched a second podcast on my website (wordpress/blubrry) and set up the 301 redirect as was recommended.  After several weeks the podcast feed wasn't updating on the iTunes directory even though I could see that the 301 redirect was working.  So, a few days ago I decided to go back and just keep things the way they originally were and took out the redirect and disabled my category podcast feed.  On my feed it is back to it's original settings, but iTunes is still not updating the feed after several days.
Here is information on my podcast:
House Flipping HQ
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/house-flipping-hq-podcast/id730653890?mt=2
The feed which was originally confirmed in the email from iTunes when our podcast launched last year was this:
Dear podcast owner,
Your podcast, located at http://houseflippinghq.com/feed/podcast/, has been approved. You should expect to see it on the iTunes Store within the next few hours. When it's available, you will be able to access it with the URL below.
If you go to that feed you should see that it is working correctly.
I have tried almost every day for the past month to figure out why this isn't working but to no avail.  Is there anything I might be missing or overlooking in my process?  If you have any thoughts they would be most welcome.
Cheers!
- Mark

To check the feed in use: go to the iTunes Store in iTunes itself (not the web page that comes up first from the link - click 'View in iTunes') to the page for your podcast and click the 'Subscribe' button.
Then go to the 'Podcasts' section to view your podcast: control-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) on the title of your podcast (left column in 'My Podcasts' view or the main entry in List view) and choose 'Copy podcast URL'.
If you have the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag in place this will show the feed being redirected to but doesn't prove that the Store has yet updated which it will do the first time it checks the feed after the tag has been inserted.

  • Technical Issues Message When Trying To Submit My Podcast Feed

I have been trying to submit my podcast feed to the itunes store since monday and every time I get a message saying there is a technical issue and please try again later.
I sent an email off to apple to find out about this and options offered in the reply haven't worked either! I have had the podcast on itunes before but the site I was hosting it at back in the day (Mevio) decided to remove everything on its site, hence my original feed sat doing nothing and was then removed from the iTunes store, I have recently found a site that offered everything I was looking for (Podcasts.com) and signed up.
I posted my first show on Monday but now I have the issue of iTunes constantly telling me there is a Technical Issue and to try again later which I have repeatedly.
I even tried running my feed through feedburner and still nothing, I have changed the title of both the podcast and the show name like was suggested in the email from apple and still it wouldn't take. Its starting to get on my nerves now since I want to get my podcast back on iTunes.
Can anyone offer up any advice or suggestions on how I can sort this out!?

The feed can be successfully subscribed to manually in iTunes. There are a few minor issues with the feed which I wouldn't have expected to cause a problem, but the Store can be more touchy than the application.
You should have this as the first line in your feed:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
You have far too many words in the 'keywords' tag in your episode - the maximum is twelve.
    Your 'itunes:duration' tag reads
    <itunes:duration>81</itunes:duration>
which is meaningless, though the Store might read it as 81 seconds and play only that amount of your episode. It should have the duration in the format hh:mm:ss, e.g. 0:26:42
I wouldn't have expected any of these to be fatal, though you should address them. It may be that you've hit a glitch in the Store - it's been known - so when you've corrected the errors try again.

  • I'm trying to fix a 'duplicate feed' issue

Hey there. A podcast I'm working on previosuly went through Podomatic. That did not work out for many reasons. I builet a new XML feed. I've checked it in iTunes, feedvalidator, etc and it's totally fine. I got an error, though, because apparently Podomatic's XML feed for the podcast still exists even though I deleted the account.
I spoke with iTunes help and they told me to resubmit the feed with a changed 'title' and 'link' and then change it back to the original once it's accepted. Does the link need to go to a totally different domain, or can I just use a different page or directory on the initial domain? Support can't seem to answer that question at all, and I have been through hours of calls.
I re-submitted and went with a different domain, but I'm worried since I haven't received a confirmation and it's been longer than it normally takes.
    Thank you!

There's no easy way of knowing. There is a bug in the submissions process whereby if a feed has been removed or rejected you are still told it's already been submitted if you submit a new feed with the same title. In your case just removing the original feed may not have caused the Store page to be removed (though it would be eventually) which would of course make the error an actual one (since the Store would still be looking for the old feed).
You have to make the feed look like a new podcast. Presumably you have a different feed URL; you will certainly need to change the title though a small change should in theory do it. As to the 'link' tag, changing this is usually also recommended, though I don't know how essential this is, nor whether it matters that the domain be different.
It can take a couple of weeks to get an acceptance or rejection - if you didn't get an immediate rejection on your last submission that's a good sign, so it's possible your podcast is under consideratioin and it's just a question of waiting.
One other point: if you've changed the title and are considering changing it back, make sure that doing so will not change the feed URL as will happen with some podcast creation methods. If the feed filename doesn't contain the title of the podcast you should be OK, but if it does and changes when you change the title then obviously iTunes will lose contact with the feed.

Soundtrack Pro Shuts down when trying to fix analized Action

Thanks, I'll have to give that a try if there isn't an easier answer out there somewhere. If I pull the card will I have to reload the software and drivers?
If my project is saved and I have a copy of the project saved will I be able to reload Adobe without losing anything? What I mean is will I be able to just import my whole project once reloaded?
I just don't understand what could have happened, since I was doing this with no problem a couple of days ago.
Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated.

  • Am suddenly getting error code 3250 when trying to download certain podcasts...not all, just some. How can I fix? Help.

Am suddenly getting error code 3250 when trying to download certain podcasts...not all, just some. How can I fix? Help.

I am getting the same error, and have been, since the last iTunes update.     Driving me crazy, as some podcasts download without issue, others won't download at all, and get the 3250 error code.

  • Does anyone have experience with error 504 when trying to download a podcast?

Does anyone have experience with error 504 when trying to download a podcast?  I've been a subscriber for two years without issue and in the last two days can't download this particular podcast (everything else is working fine - music, other podcasts, etc)

The album was released on the 27th March this year, so the error occurred almost immediately after it was supposedly available.
In the manage pre-orders section of my account, it says AVAILABLE but does not give me any choice over whether to download it, just to cancel it. Is this normal?
iTunes customer services reset my password and tried to download the album themselves, but they also got the 5002 error, so it's been passed off to the engineers. How long does that usually take?
If anyone has any other suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Missing backups when trying to restore

    Hey everyone,
We are trying to test our backups / restores on a clone backup system.
We took a backup of the original system using brtools/backed up to netbackup, and in we could see the netbackup utility took the backup well, and the backup was listed as successful in db12.
However, when trying to restore this on the clone system, only 2 backups seem to come up when trying to restore the whole database...  both these backups are very old (and ones we did to disk before netbackup backup was setup).
Does anyone know what I could look at (I'm out of ideas) in terms of why BRTOOLS cannot see the backup in netbackup?
Any help at this point would be greatly appriciated.
    Thanks
    Richard

    Hi,
and you need to configure netbackup to allow client
"clone system" to access backups from client "production system".
On the client you like to restore issue a
    echo #NULL | backint -u SID -p /oracle/SID/102_64/dbs/initSID.utl -f inquire
This should list the items the client sees on the netbackup server.
If you do not see anything, your netbackup cxlient configuration is not yet correct.
After the above works, you can either restore backSID.log or copy it
over from source, if that system is still alive. But if you like to have a desaster test,
you should learn how to restore these items, instead of copying them over for ease of process.

  • 5002 Error when trying to submit my Podcast

Everytime I try and submit my podcasts feed url(http://feeds.feedburner.com/controller1gaming) and after I type in and try to log in with my login info right after it always gives me an error which reads:
"We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occured (5002).
There was an error in the iTunes store please try again later."
I have since installed iTunes on 2 of my other computers and got the same problem on all 3 computers, as well as on 3 different log in accounts (all registered to the same billing info).
I have no idea what to do to fix this, I searched and found that many people have had this same error however none of them related it to submitting a podcast, almost all of them dealt with downloading itunes music and getting this error (I never buy/download anything but podcasts on iTunes).
So if anyone has any idea how to fix this, or can please give me a link to where I would contact itunes about this, or better yet a telephone number to call in the US it would be grealty appreciated.

I tried something else just now, in an attempt to see if the problem was perhaps having something to do with me registering and burning my podcast on my computer using feed burner I had a friend make his own feedburner account, and burn my podcast feed from wordpress. He still got the error (and we are talking about someone else on the other side of the united states).
    So some new conclusions:
-I have tried using multiple feedburner accounts, one even not even registered by me myself, error occurs.
-I have tried using wordpress and blogger as two different sites to take the feed url from when burning to feedburner, still got error.
-I have used ourmedia as well as archive.org as my mp3 hosts and still got the error.
My conclusion? I seem to be running out of ideas really, the onlything I have not tried but would like to would be having someone register their own ourmedia account, upload my mp3, register their own wordpress blog and put my mp3 on there, and then burn that wordpress feed on feedburner and try submitting the feedburner link to itunes, that is really the only idea I have left (by doing that it basicaly voids out any interuption I might be causing on my home computers somewhere along the lines).
If someone where who is successfuly able to submit podcasts to itunes and wants to help me out in my idea vplease respond here with your email adress, (best option as I dont check my mail often) or if you use AIM my screen name is ReverieGamer.
I am truly beginning to believe that this is a problem with itunes now however I cannot be sure (I have even installed a slightly older version of itunes on my pc and tried and still a no go)

  • Itunes/quicktime crashes when trying to play video podcasts and 3GP files

    Hello all,
I've searched these forums and didn't see anything that might help me, so if know of any solutions posted already, please let me know. I have an HP laptop(AMD Turion 64 X2 2.0 GB processor, 2 GB or RAM) running Windows Vista Home Premium. I used to be able to play 3GP files at one time with Quicktime, but now I cannot. Then, the other day I tried to play a video podcast and it starts to play, then says, "Itunes has stopped working". Quicktime does the same thing with 3GP files. This was before my update to Itunes 8.0. It happpened with Itunes 7.5.11.1 or whatever the last version was. It obviously does the same thing with Itunes 8. I've tried completely uninstalling Itunes and quicktime, then reinstalling them both and I still have the same problem. Just a note: I tried playing the video podcast via Windows Media Playey, and it worked fine, except for no audio(I don't think WMP has AAC support) so I think something is conflicting between Itunes and my computer. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Do you have any better luck with that if you update to iTunes 10.6.1.7?
From the notes for the release:
iTunes 10.6.1 provides a number of improvements, including:
    • Fixes several issues that may cause iTunes to unexpectedly quit while playing videos, changing artwork size in Grid view and syncing photos to devices.
    • Addresses an issue where some iTunes interface elements are incorrectly described by VoiceOver and WindowEyes.
    • Fixes a problem where iTunes may become unresponsive while syncing iPod nano or iPod shuffle.
    • Resolves an ordering problem while browsing TV episodes in your iTunes library on Apple TV.

  • 5.5 Gen Video Ipod rebooting when trying to play certain PodCasts.

    Hi,
After enjoying an Ipod Nano for a year and loving every minute, I went ahead and purchased the new 80GB Video iPod.
Its great but it has a tendency to reboot for no apparent reason when playing certain PodCasts. For example: Its impossible to play the Buzzcast episode: BuzzCast 09/27/06 - "Microsoft protects your ****". The Ipod shuts off and reboots every time. I'm using Itunes 7.0.1 and the Ipod is running the latest available firmware.
Can anyone else who also owns the new 80GB iPod download this particular episode and confirm?
By the way, I've also noticed that even though the iPod is connected / docked with iTunes and clearly visible in the panel to the left, The message "Waiting for iPod" is displayed when trying to re-sync a while later. The only way to get iTunes to make contact with the iPod again is to physically disconnect the cable and reconnect, (even though the iPod icon was still clearly visible to the left thus indicating already established contact with the iPod) Weird!
    Anyone else having this experience?
    Input appreciated.
    Kind regards / Alex

WHAT was apple thinking when they released iTunes 7.0 and firmware 1.2!? I installed in on my 60gb Video and the whole thing went to pot.
    1. It sounded horrible
    2. It would only allow me to download about 25% of my movies to the iPod (I have a large library and I take movies on and off depending on what I feel like for the trip I am taking.)
AppleCare Support was USELESS. Here is what I finally figured out to get the pod working right again:
    1. Uninstalled iTunes 7 from my computer (PC).
    2. Went into the registry editor and deleted all remaining references to iTunes.
    3. Restored the firmware to the version that came with the iPod last January.
    4. Used the 2006.06.28 firmware updater
    5. Installed iTunes 6.0.5
It works like a charm, just like it did before Apple "made things better."
AppleCare told me that they could not support songs ripped from my CD's, or any video that had not been purchased from iTunes. I am certain that the reason for this had nothing to do with their wanting a monopoly on music and video that will work on an iPod. Then he offered to report the problem I was having to their development team.
I asked him if other people were having problems with iTunes 7. He said the question was not relevant to my problems! I pressed him more for an answer and he continued to parrot what Apple has obviously told him to say. "My new 80gb Video is working fine. I have not had the problems you are having."
    DON'T UPGRADE TO ITUNES 7!!!!
I have ordered an 80gb since he said they work so flawlessly. Reading in this discussion, it appears that plenty of new 80gb users are frustrated too.

  • Missing File when trying to Burn to DVD

I am trying to urn my current project to DVD, and I keep getting an error as soon as I do that says: Missing File. It then specifies the path name which is something in my iphoto folder? Has anyone seen this before? I deleted my project and started over from scratch but it did the same thing the second time around.

It seems to me that you either have not opened the project in iMovie or are unable to for some reason. It's also pretty obvious that iDVD at least thinks that an element from iPhoto is missing.
I would suggest this. Take an obvious picture that does not belong in the movie. Open iDVD and in the error window, navigate to the replacement picture (you can select the file). Do a Save-as so your original project is unchanged. Using preview in iDVD, look for the error, then you can find a suitable picture to substititute. Then repeat the process with a desirable picture in place. clik on the picture and again save as so not to modify the original.
    Good luck!

  • Getting a driver missing message when trying to load os

Good afternoon lads, I need a little bit of help. Just put together a new unit with a MSI 870A-G54 set to  Raid 1. When I go to load the OS 7 pro 64. I get an message that reads "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy, cd, dvd, or usb flash drive. Please insert it now". So been playing around with the thing. It recognizes a usb stick. I figure the easiest thing is to give it what it wants, the driver. The problem is since I am for the most part computer illiterate I have no idea what that driver is called and where to find it amongst the drivers on the disk. A little help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

    Hi,
For some reason when running duplicate database command, rman does not find few datafiles on my LAST weekly LEVEL 0 backup ,
and tried to restore them from the prevoius LEVEL 0. the datafiles are stored on tapes and not on the disk.
I would like to know if / what command i need to execute using rman , before taking another LEVEL 0 backup.
    Thanks

    Hi Yoav,
I would like to know if / what command i need to execute using rman , before taking another LEVEL 0 backup.Maybe you can check the status of the datafiles in v$datafile and v$datafile_header?
Was there a reason why some datafiles were not backed up? Was it a failure on the backup server side (like no empty tapes)?
Do you have a logfile with an error?
You should be able to run a new level 0 without any problem if all is OK.
(You do not have to do a clean up if that's your question.)
    Regards,
    Tycho
