Am worried. New iPad 3 gets really hot. My first iPad never got hot.

I had an iPad 1 for a long time. It never got hot and also, it charged up quickly. Recently I purchased a new iPad 3. This iPad gets really hot and also seems to take an awful long time to recharge. Thoughts?

There is no escaping the engineering principles involved. Twice the battery capacity means twice as long to charge with the same 10W charger. Since the battery life remains the same at about ten hours, doubling the battery capacity also means that twice as much heat will be dissipated over that period of time. In simple terms "it gets hotter".
Or, you don't get something for nothing.

I agree with Meg. One other difference I know of, is that the digital HDMI adapter can send a mirror of your iPad 2 screen to an HDTV. It only works for some applications like the Photos Slide Show on the iPad 1.

Everytime I turn on Airplay on my iPad the screen goes black and iPad gets really laggy?

It was working fine for about 20 minutes but now when I turn it on I just get a black screen and my iPad lags ridiculous amounts. I've reset Apple TV and the iPad but it's still happening. Any one else experienced this? Or have any solutions?

I've seen a few similar complaints here. I suggest you try resetting (rebooting) the iPad. Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow. The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes. Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
If this doesn't help, your iPad may be defective. If it is still in warranty (1 year), show it to an Apple Store Genius and you may get a new iPad on the spot.
If it is out of warranty or there is no Apple Store near you, look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center. There may be one in your city. In the US, <United States>. Outside the US, <International>

Mail blocked on imac. Same message keeps appearing multiple times in the Recovered Messages folder but no new email gets through. Fine on ipad. Any help appreciated....

Haven't received any new emails on imac since 4 Sept (all received fine on ipad) and online gmail account. We sent an oversized message on that date and it keeps appearing continually (literally hundreds of times) in the Recovered Messages folder. I'm assuming this is causing some sort of blockage?? Seem to be able to send mail OK, just not receive (apart from new versions of the 4th September message). Any help gratefully received. Thanks

Since Outlook running on Windows works well, it seems an issue on the Mac side. I suggest ask Mac for help so that you can get more professional suggestions.

Please try to verify whether there is any expired certificate from the computer personal store.

Can iPads Get viruses? Also, can iPads transfer viruses when connected to a PC?

I had a problem in Safari on my iPad 2 tonight. Someone sent me one of those iPad 2 scam links through Facebook. Because the link was a notification, I accidentally hit it when checking my Facebook, and the page I was sent to had a pop-up I had to click to unfreeze my iPad. Now, I'm concerned that I may have Dow loaded a virus on my iPad or that my iPad is carrying a virus I could transmit to my PC if the iPad is connected to it.
If this is potentially a problem, is there a way to fix it?

This information is only partially correct.
There are no known viruses that can infect in iPad - this is true.
You can pass on viruses through email that can infect a PC.
There may be links on websites that can be passed on to a PC because they pass through your browser even though the browser is running on an iPad.
It's important to be careful about your information. Know where it's coming from. Take care what you pass on through email to friends who use PCs. For your own protection be careful not to visit suspicious websites, don't click on links when you don't know what they will do, watch out for phishing schemes and web scams. This is just as valid for your iPad as for your regular computer.

Before doing that, what are the battery's statistics from the apple in the upper left corner, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Power, the Condition of the battery, capacity, charge remaining, voltage, current.
The Condition should say Normal, if not, may need service.

I actually have this problem with an old iPad. I have used it for over 3 years, and in the last few weeks, both my wife's iPad and mine have started getting very hot during extended use. I don't see anything in the discussion, but is this a function of IOS 8.0.2, rather than dependent on the iPad? I cannot say for sure we noticed it right at the time we did the OS upgrade, but it seems like it was about that time. Just to be really clear, the heating is recent behavior. It did not happen for the first 3 years we had our ipads. Now they get so hot we cannot keep using them on our laps after 20-30 minutes. And is is not the weather or ambient temperature. It happens when it is 65 F. Have not been able to find out why, or how to limit whatever processes are generating the extra heat.
also, battery life got shorter. Probably because so much energy is turning into heat.

Really hot, as in too hot to touch? Have you tried a reset, or a restore on the device. You need to do those things before you take it to Apple for evaluation. It is Apple's decision if it should be replaced.

If your using many resources at once, the I would consider that normal. When is it getting hot? As soon as you turn it on? While its charging?
Try killing all unused apps in the multi-task bar by double tapping the home button.
Turn off alerts, notifications and maybe wifi in settings to see if it still gets hot.

I really dont know how to explain this but here it goes. Idk how this happend but i want to somehow get my music from my ipad onto my new computers itunes. The problem is that my ipad is authorized on a broken pc which is authorized with an old apple id.

Alright im not quite sure how this happend but here it goes. I am trying to sync all the content from my ipad to and new computer. But i get a message that my ipad is authrorized on another computer. But the problem is that my old computer is broken. I also think that the old computer was authorized with my ipad from my old apple id which i do not know the username or password. Wow my luck. Unfortunally my backup file is corrupt :/. i was thinking is it possible to put my music on my computer via copytrans or other software then transfer my purchases on my ipad like apps. Then restore my ipad so that the other authorization is gone then transfer my music to itunes then register my ipad to my new computer then sync? I could also put my music on disc or something else instead of a transfer software if that would work.

My belief is that this is a flaw in the 4S. I've had two--same exact problem on both. I've been chasing this problem for six days. I've restored, restored without using a backup, removed email accounts, etc. I downloaded a couple of applications that show processor utilization. Consistently, the phone is around 72% of processor utilization.
Going back to my 4, I do not have these issues at all. Same EXACT configuration. (Software, carrier, etc.) I'm surprised more people aren't raising this as an issue. It also shows significantly reduced battery life. When my processor is pegged (as noted above, that is often) it loses about 5% every 1/2 hour.

New Ipad getting so hot

I received my new IPAD 2 weeks ago and it unfortunately overheats while i am playing with it.
Can anyone tell me what to do when such a thing happens ?

Simple Solution,
1.) Do a battery drain, recharge,
2.) Enter DFU mode and do a clean install of the latest OS. (DFU - Connect to iTunes while its on, hold both the power and home for 10 secs, or more, then release the power and continue holding the home, "you would know it you are in DFU mode if nothing appears on the iPad yet iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode") - (don't do recovery mode because errors remain most of the time)
It worked for me, Apple has to recalculate the formula for calculatiing the battery on the new iPad.
*Also if Apple is reading, double check the multitasking, app switching option, its buggy.
