An ADF tabbed portlet

Hi All,
I have these question regarding deploying portlet in Webcenter.
Supposed I created an ADF application that has tabbed pane in it. The data in each tab is populated from web service. Each data in the tabs are independent information.
If I portletized this ADF and add this portlet in my webcenter page, will I still be able to see the portlet with tabs?
I have done only portlets that are single view and I was just thinking if this is possible. Thanks

Of course you are :)
That's just the idea of ADF portlets. You can make use of the complete ADF stack to create portlets. I have written dozens of ADF portlets that uses tabbedPane and never had issues with it.
Mostly i also create a seperate taskflow or fragment for each tab so i don't have a single large JSPX file containing all the code. Especialy if the data is independent from each other.

  • Portletizing ADF Faces - Portlet Unavailable - Is there a Working Sample?

    Hi,
    It seems I have run into a similar issue as some people before me. I have watched all samples, read all relevant forum threads and yet I cannot solve my problem.
    I have created a very simple ADF Faces applications that uses DataBinding - it displays records from a database table in an af:table component based on ADF BC. I have created the page, added the Portlet Faces Bridge library to the project, created the portlet.xml, copied and pasted and configured the Portlet.xml contents for my Portlet. Deployment is to a local yet standalone WebCenter containing OC4J instance. Note: deploying to the preconfigured OC4J also did not work.
    When I register the Portletproducer, consume the portlet in an otherwise empty JSF page and run that page, I get the Portlet Unavailable message in the page. The error log is shown below.
    I am wondering where to go from here, what can I try to analyze? And also: is there a working sample available for download of an ADF Faces based portlet that can successfully be consumed by an application?

    Hello
    I am trying to portlize an hello world ADF application but am unable to do so because of the situation describe below. I have tried all the options given on this post but nothing seems to resolve the issue.
    I have followed the instructions of portelizing at http://download-east.oracle.com/otndocs/tech/webcenter/files/owcs_10132_bridge_viewlet.html
    A simple portlets without AFD works fine in oc4h or webcenter or jboss, but when I include ADF in the project then none of the application server or the container works
    I am using jdeveloper 10.1.3.2.0 and the embedded webcenter oc4j for this test
    I have two projects
    1) ui where the ADF appplication is and
    2) test1 where the producer is registered and is tested
    In ui I have a simple jsp page untitled1.jsp with just one adf component (ADF Command Link)
    Here is the source of untitled1.jsp

  • Migration of  ADF 10g application to ADF 11g(Portlet Customization Error)

    Hi,
    Currently we are doing a migration of ADF/Webcenter 10g appication to 11g(11.1.1.6) and in the current 10g application portlet is used which contains the file based content and can be customized using a specific role say(admin).
    We have almost done the migration using the Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 and most of the pages along with the portlet content are coming similar to the 10g look and feel but whenever we want to do portlet customization using the specific role we are getting the below exception. The content is file based system and the details of the versions are as below
    10g Environment:
    OC4J version. Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.5.0)
    JDK version- java version "1.5.0_06"
    Webcenter and it’s version : Webcenter 10g(10.1.3.5.0)
    ADF version. Oracle ADF 10g
    Jdeveloper 10.1.3.3.0
    11g Environment: Currently I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 with Integrated weblogic server
    webcenter extension used: oracle.webcenter.framework_bundle/oracle.webcenter.customization_bundle
    Error which I am getting during portlet customization:

  • Requirement of tabbed portlets in weblogic portal 10.3.2

    Hi,
    We've a requirement of tabbed panes on a particular page & each tabbed pane should have a portlet rendering the content from CMS.
    Just like IE 7 has tabbed pages. Also, on click of tabbed portlets, only the portlet content should be rendered without affecting the entire page to be refreshed.
    Need sample code/help on the same.
    Thanks,
    Uttam

    Look at putting a book into a placeholder in a page, just like you would put a portlet there. Then, each page in that book would hold a portlet that renders the appropriate content item (you can perhaps use Content Presenter portlet for this). This would give you the look you wish and clicks on the embedded book should not rerender the entire page if you have Desktop mode set for the Async mode on the desktop.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
    - is your portlet container running? -- YES
    - do you run your consuming application from JDev? If so, is the proxy setting turned off, or having your localhost and IP as an exception? -- Im consuming it from jdev only and proxy is turned off.
    - if running as a deployed application, is there a firewall between consumer and provider? - It is delployed in my machine only.
    My application is Event Based Calendar, i have 2 dropdowns to select the month, & year also a button. when i click on the button i'm getting the following response in the browser
    "Unable to process portlet action for portlet binding Event4_1"

  • Oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-34010: The "adf/tabs/view/DataBindings.cpx" descriptor appears in the application classpath more than once:

    Hello
    We are using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6
    We have three 3 separate viewcontroller projects and one Master projects which i supposed to integrate all these projects into one.
    Issue:
    After putting all three together into the Master project, the app fails to deploy due to this error:
    oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-34010: The "adf/tabs/view/DataBindings.cpx" descriptor appears in the application classpath more than once:
    We did some digging and found out that it is because of the fact that "DataBindings.cpx" in all three projects falls withing the default package. How do we rectify this issue. We cannot even Refector this file because that option is not available for this file. We have a demo soon, What can we do?
    Thanks...

    Hi,
    this error typically comes from name clashes. Apparently you created ADF libraries (or projects) that contain a DataBindings.cpx file. The DataBindings.cpx file seems to be located in the same folder structure and thus could not be merged but are found to be added twice. When you create new view controller projects then best practice is to ensure the root package name is unique to avoid such issues.

  • Deploying ADF/JDeveloper portlets in WebSphere Portal

    I'd like to use ADF/JDeveloper to build my application, but my customer is already heavily invested on a WebSphere Portal deployment platform.  The JDeveloper/ADF documentation has extensive information on creating portlets in various ways, but they all seem focused exclusively on deploying in an Oracle platform.  I have tried both the "Standards-Based" as well as the "JSF Portlet Bridge".  I have tried to deploy the portlets in WebSphere Portal using both the generated WAR file, as well as by registering the WSRP producer.  None work.
    With the WAR file, WebSphere Portal seems to import the WAR file just fine, and I can add a portlet to a page, but the portlet always shows as "unavaiable"
    With the WSRP producer, I can get something to show in the page, but the functionality within the portlet doesn't seem to work.
    I've searched extensively, but cannot locate any documentation or use cases for deploying portlets from JDeveloper into WebSphere Portal.  Does anyone have any thoughts?

    Dvohra21, again, I apreciate the effort, but I think you're missing the fundamental question.
    You've given me two types of articles/links.  Some are generic WebSphere Portal documentation about deploying a portlet from a WAR file.  Others are Oracle articles about who to generate portlets in JDeveloper, with examples deploying in Oracle/WebLogic servers.   Unfortunately I don't have a problem with either of those.
    I CAN deploy a portlet WAR file in WebSphere Portal, and sucessfully add it to a Portal page.  I have done that with multiple WAR files generated from Rational Application Developer.
    I CAN produce a WAR file from JDeveloper, following the instructions in the same resources you included, plus a few others.
    The problem is, the WAR file from JDeveloper, does not successfully run on WebSphere Portal.  I create a simple Hello World portlet in JDeveloper, and I can generate a WAR file from it, and seemingly deploy to WebSphere Portal.   However when I add it to a Portal page, it always displays only a blank box with the text "This portlet is unavailable".  This is in the same exact portal page, where the portlet created with Rational Application Developer shows up just fine right along side it.
    Bottomline is, although there is a great deal of information an demos about generating portlets from JDeveloper within an Oracle environment, I could not find a SINGLE ONE, that goes through an end to end scenario where it is deployed in WebSphere Portal.  Nothing in this forum, nothing in Oracle docs, and nothing I can find on a Google search.

  • WSRP Portlets in Oracle WebCenter: transforming task flows(ADF) in portlets

    I am doing some research on the portlets offered by WebCenter, but I have some problems related with transferring parameters between them. My idea was to create 2 portlets: a department portlet where I can chose a departmentId which is sent as a parameter to the second portlet, employees, so I will have a table with the corresponding employees from the specified department. These 2 portlets are constructed based on some page flows. The department portlet works fine, but with the employees portlet, I have some problems.
    The JSP page fragment corresponding to the employees has a table based on a ViewObject which has behind him a query based on a bind variable. I have created an EmployeesBean, where I have the method that takes the received parameter and executes the query with this bind variable. Here is the code:
    import javax.el.ELContext;
    import javax.el.ExpressionFactory;
    import javax.el.ValueExpression;
    import javax.faces.application.Application;
    import javax.faces.context.FacesContext;
    import oracle.adf.view.rich.context.AdfFacesContext;
    import oracle.jbo.ApplicationModule;
    import oracle.jbo.Row;
    import oracle.jbo.ViewObject;
    public class EmployeesBean {
    private static final String DEPARTMENT_NUMBER_KEY = "DEPTNO";
    private static final int DEPARTMENT_NUMBER_NULL_VALUE = -1;
    public EmployeesBean() {
    super();
    public void getEmployees(String deptno) {
    System.out.println("enters in getEmployees()");
    int filterDeptno = findDepartmentValue(deptno);
    FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    Application app = facesContext.getApplication();
    ExpressionFactory elFactory = app.getExpressionFactory();
    ELContext elContext = facesContext.getELContext();
    ValueExpression valueExp =
    elFactory.createValueExpression(elContext, "#{data.AppModuleDataControl.dataProvider}",
    Object.class);
    ApplicationModule am = (ApplicationModule)valueExp.getValue(elContext);
    ViewObject emplVO;
    emplVO = am.findViewObject("EmployeesVO1");
    emplVO.setNamedWhereClauseParam("deptno", filterDeptno);
    emplVO.executeQuery();
    Row r = emplVO.first();
    System.out.println(r.getAttribute("FirstName"));
    public void setDepartmentNumber(String deptno) {
    selectDepartment(deptno);
    public void selectDepartment(String deptno) {
    System.out.println("aici e problema");
    AdfFacesContext afContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    System.out.println(deptno);
    afContext.getPageFlowScope().put(DEPARTMENT_NUMBER_KEY, deptno);
    public int findDepartmentValue(String defaultValue) {
    AdfFacesContext afContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    String deptno =
    (defaultValue == null ? (String)afContext.getPageFlowScope().get(DEPARTMENT_NUMBER_KEY) :
    defaultValue);
    return (deptno == null ? DEPARTMENT_NUMBER_NULL_VALUE :
    Integer.valueOf(deptno));
    I have also dragged on the employees.jsff the getEmployees() method so if I go to page definition I have there a binding, which will determine the getEmployees method to be executed every time an event appears. All this mixed with the departments.jsff works in a .jspx page if I create the Event mapping
    Now I am trying to transform this task flow into a portlet. After I create a portlet entry for the page flow, I need to create a navigational parameter, and I am doing this in the employees.xml:
    <input-parameter-definition>
    <description>Main context parameter</description>

    Everything works fine, but when I am trying to use this as a portlet in a WebCenter application, when I select a department the departmentId is transferred to the employees portlet, the selectDepartment is called, but the getEmployees() is never called(the event is not propagated), so no data is returned in my table. I'm a beginner in portlets and I can't see what the problem is. Can anyone give me some ideas?

    issue is described in Unable To Register EBS WSRP Producer In Webcenter (Doc ID 1567314.1)
    Cause
    The root cause is the current implementation of JOC within Oracle Applications which initiates JOC within the Applications rather than at the J2ee level.
    Bug 9850207 - DOC: PORTLET PROVIDER REGISTRATION ISSUE WITH OACORE PROCESSES > 1
    Solution
    There are two workarounds for the issue described
    1. Reduce number of J2EE OACore (OC4J) porcesses to 1.
    2. Add to the OACore J2ee startup parameters    -Doracle.ias.jcache=true
    Note: This changes have to be done in the Oracle E-Business Suite  portlet producer  installation.

  • Creating adf-Faces portlets without using IFrame

    Is there a way we can create portlets with adf-faces that will display inline instead of IFrame? I have been experimenting with portlets creation and the only time the portlet will be rendered inline is when you choose the "generate JSP" at step 3 of the portlet creation wizard. If i select "generate ADF-Faces JSPX" the portlet will be rendered in a IFrame.

    Answer is very easy... You can't!
    The problem is that there will be conflicts between the ADF context of the portlet and the portal. That's why every ADF portlet is rendered by using an iframe. Oracle says they are changing this but it can be a while. Perhaps for this year, maybe later... So currently you can't realy do anything about it...

  • Adf - tab - navigation

    I have quick question.
    Have a page split vertically as top and bottom.
    I have 2 tabs on the top - panel tabbed (read only tree listing of VO1 and VO2)
    I have 2 tabs in the bottom corresponding to the top tabs. (panel form for VO1 and VO2)
    How do I make
    bottom tab2 to show up when the top tab2 is clicked and viceversa.
    Thanks

    You can do the same by setting the disclosed tab based on the disclosure listener as follows:

  • Performance Issue : Why does ADF Taskflow Portlet (JSF bridge portlet) loading ADF Specific images, css, js everytime from portlet producer with dynamic URL with portlet_id and context parameters?

    Hi All,
    We have used WSRP Portlet in Webcenter Portal Page. The Portlet is created using JSF Bridge out of ADF Bounded Taskflow.
    It is causing Performance issue. Every time static content like js, css and images URLs are downloaded  and the URL contain portlet_id and few other dynamic parameters like resource_id, client_id etc.
    We are not able to cache these static content as these contains dynamic URL. This ADF Specific  images, js and css files  are taking longer time to load.
    Sample URL:
    /<PORTAL_CONTEXT>/resourceproxy/~.clientId~3D-1~26resourceId~3Dresource-url~25253Dhttp~2525253A~2525252F~2525252F<10.*.*.*>~2525253A7020~2525252FportletProdApp~2525252Fafr~2525252Fring_60.gif~26locale~3Den~26checksum~3D3e839bc581d5ce6858c88e7cb3f17d073c0091c7/ring_60.gif
    /<PORTAL_CONTEXT>/resourceproxy/~.clientId~3D-1~26resourceId~3Dresource-url~25253Dhttp~2525253A~2525252F~2525252F<10.*.*.*>~2525253A7020~2525252FportletProdApp~2525252Fafr~2525252Fpartition~2525252Fie~2525252Fn~2525252Fdefault~2525252Fopt~2525252Fimagelink-11.1.1.7.0-4251.js~26locale~3Den~26checksum~3Dd00da30a6bfc40b22f7be6d92d5400d107c41d12/imagelink-11.1.1.7.0-4251.js
    Technologies Used:
    Webcenter Portal PS6
    Jdeveloper 11.1.1.7
    Please suggest , how this performance issue can be resolved?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Digesh

    Strange...
    I can't reproduce this because i have issues with creating portlets... If i can solve this issue i will do some testing and see if i can reproduce the issue...
    Can you create a new producer with a single portlet that uses a simple taskflow and see if that works?
    Are you also using business components in the taskflows or something? You can try removing some parts of the taskflow and test if it works so you can identify the component(s) that causes the issues.

  • Change ADF tab color when selected (af:menutabs and af:gomenuitem)

    I have the following code in my jsf page:
    <af:menuTabs>
    <af:goMenuItem text="tab1" destination="tab1.jsp"/>
    <af:goMenuItem text="tab2" destination="tab2.jsp"/>
    <af:goMenuItem text="tab3" destination="tab3.jsp"/>
    <af:goMenuItem text="tab4" destination="tab4.jsp"/>
    </af:menuTabs>
    When I click on tab2 the color does not change, thus it is confusing to know which tab the user is currently on. There is a selected attribute that you can set to true (e.g. <af:goMenuItem text="tab1" destination="tab1.jsp" selected=true/>), but that always leaves tab1 as the selected tab. I tried using a backing bean but there is no attribute to fire off when the user actually clicks one of the tabs. I even saw some examples of using af:commandmenuitem instead of af:gomenuitem, but there is no selected attribute to set to true. Any help? I have seen this done in many ADF applications. TIA.

    unfortunatelly you must control them in a javaBean
    if you put selected=true always be selected, you must make a bean that return true o false to this selected parameter on all the items,
    i makeo one bean to control the selected property in a commandmenuitems but it can be the same.
