    Nvd,
I'm sorry to hear about the problems that you are running into with your DAQCard. I can understand your frustration with the errors that you are seeing. You mention that you have tried to do some troubleshooting, I was wondering if you have tried all the troubleshooting techniques listed in this KnowledgeBase:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/DCFCDB240788F8D486256D6A00834D80?OpenDocument
If you have tried all of those things, I would suggest one additional thing to try. I would suggest updating your NI-DAQ drivers to version 7.0. These drivers are the newest versions of our Data Acquisition Drivers, and can be downloaded from our website here:

  • Getting an error 33162 when trying to read analog input on FP

I am getting a error when trying to do a simple analog input read using Field Point. I have a FP-2000 network module and am trying to read channel 0 at FP-TB-10 @3 which has an AI-C420 analog input module in place. There is no definition for the error and I can read the signal from Field Point Explorer just fine.
I have downloaded the example continuous read vi from the web site and it does not work either. It seems that this should not be complicated but this is not the 1st problem I have had. I will take any suggestions. Thank you.

    Mike,
Error code 33162, "Can not connect to item on module," generally is the result of attempting to connect to an item that is not available at the first connection attempt. This is frequently the result of an ethernet network module being offline when you attempt to connect to it. Since you are able to connect from FieldPoint Explorer, I suspect something else is going on. The likeliest possibilities that I can think of are:
    1) You have more than one ethernet Comm Resource in your IAK file and you have provided the name for the wrong resource (e.g. you may have had a different IP address and created a new Comm Resourcefor the new IP address, but left the old one in place and are using the wrong one).
    2) Similar to #1 above, you changed the IP address in
the Comm Resource but did not save the change so there is no module at the IP address it is attempting to communicate with.
    3) There is a misconfiguration in the IAK file and the FP-TB-10 shows a listing for a digital module at address 0 rather than an analog module.
    4) The module is misaddressed. I have occasionally seen instances where the protective end cover was not installed on the last terminal base and a piece of metal shorted some of the pins causing the addressing to be incorrect. Since this method of failure would also show up in FieldPoint Explorer, I do not think it is likely the root cause of your problem.
    5) You have booted the FP-20xx in Safe Mode (although FieldPoint Explorer will not work in this case so I do not think it is likely).
Note: If you had successfully connected and then lost the connection, the error code is 33163, "The connection to the module has been broken."

    Aaron

  • Error -200072 using analog input with 3 PXI 6120 cards on realtime mx system

I have just upgraded to the mx drivers for the 6120 S series boards.
I am trying to sample 12 analog inputs at once with a pretrigger. (4 channels per board)
The error message -200072 comes up.
One board works fine, when I add the second board's channels the error occurs.
Each board shows up as A,B,C respectively in MAX and in the Labview browse menu for selecting channels.

    Takata

Probably the best way to do this would simply be to use the Route Signal VI to make it to where each of your boards looks at a particular line for the trigger. You can do the same thing for the clock so that they are all sampling at the same time.
You will also want to make sure that your device is defined in MAX. Once you do that, everything should be pretty easy to implement. You might also want to look at some of the examples that show how to do RTSI. It's almost the same as you would do for a PXI system.

  • Error 10800 while testing analog input PCI-4451

I'm testing the PCI 4451 device under Windows 2000 and with NI-DAQ 6.9.2 (with Max 2.2 french version)
The analog output work properly but the input doesn't seem to work. I have tested with a GBF. I have also tested by connecting directly the analog output on the analog input and generating a 50KHz signal at 5V but it doesn't work. It always return an error 10800 (timeOutError). I haven't select any trigger. It display a graph with 1 or 2 peak an the beginning but all others samples have the value 0 in the graph. So the graph seems like a constant value of zero exepts the 1 or 2 peak.
I've tried a lot of combinaison and nothing work. :-(
configuration of the NI PCI-4451 :
    IRQ : 19
    DMA : 0, 1 and 2
    AI : +/- 10V
    differential
    AO : bipolar
    Accessory : BNC-2140
PS : I've translated from french so there could have some mistakes.
Is there anyone who have an idea ? (or others tests I can do ?)

  • Error -200279 with simultaneous analog input (different devices) and digital output.

    Hi guys,
I am a beginner in Labview and have been dealing with this problem for a couple of weeks now and just can't seem to get it completely right, I have a feeling there are a few small bugs in my code/hardware setup.
I am running an scxi-1000 chassis with a 1600 module and 1302C along with a 1303 accesory for temperature measurements, this is connected to four thermoucouples. Unfortunately I have a limited number of modules available so I am also using a PCI-6221 DAQ card with an scb-68 breakout box used for a digital output and analog input voltage channel. Attached is my labview program. When I run the code at a 50 Hz sampling rate it runs with no errors but the data file comes out extremely wrong, this is also attached. When I run the code at 100 Hz I get error-200279 after a few loops. I used to have 2 daqmx timing VIs (one for each input), but the same error would eventually happen, I have also tried increasing the buffer size on said timing VI. I am also using an old computer (Pentium IV) could this effect the program?
I have learned a lot going through forms for similar problems to mine but I just can't get it to for an extended period of time, I have posted my simplest code.
    Thanks in advance,
    Luca

Ok this makes sense. I have made the suggested modifications but still getting the same error with sampling rates of 100 Hz or higher. Could you check that I have implemented the queue VIs properly (new file attached)? Also when running at 50 Hz in debug mode it does not look like the second while loop (with the dequeue element) comes into play until I hit the stop button, once I hit the stop button I get the following error:
Error 1 occurred at Dequeue Element in FinalCombined_2.vi
    Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: An input parameter is invalid. For example if the input is a path, the path might contain a character not allowed by the OS such as ? or @.
    =========================
NI-488: Command requires GPIB Controller to be Controller-In-Charge.
This leads me to believe I have programmed the queue elements incorrectly.
Thanks for your help, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • I am getting a -50101 error when trying to get analog input from a compact rio

I am just doing the initial setup of my compactRIO system and have been able to successfully add the cRio in Max and then into a new project.  I created a very simple VI with analog input that I am trying to read into an indicator, following one of teh tutorials.  The module I am reading the input from is a cRio-9201.  The input is voltage.  I have already added the module to teh project under the FPGA, which is under the RIO in the project tree.  Any ideas what I may be missing would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

The 9201 C Series module needs to be created under the FPGA Target
(cRIO-910x) in the LabVIEW Project. You can either discover the module
or create it by type. In case you haven't created the FPGA Target
(cRIO-910x) under the cRIO Controller (cRIO-900x), you must do that
first. You also have the option of discovering the cRIO-910x or to
create it by type. I suggest you do it through discovery, so you don't
need to manually configure the addresses.
As how to create the items, that's done through right-click on the
cRIO-900x and select New>>Targets and Devices.... It will pop up
a dialog in which you expand FPGA Target and it will discover the FPGA
Target. Similar steps are followed to create the 9201 module.
If you don't see the FPGA Target and C Series module options, then you
need to make sure NI-RIO 2.0 is installed in you computer.

  • "Out of range" error at analog input

    Hello!
I use a PCI 1200 card with Nidaq 6.6.0 and Labview 5.1 support files on Windows NT for data aquisition. My programm has one digital channel and three analog input channels. I didn't write the programm myself but bought it in 1999 together with an apparatus which delieveres all these signals. I have only a Labview Executable which runs with LabView Runtime Engine 5.1.1 and the daqdrv, the serpdrv and one .lrm file.
The programm was running fine till the computer broke down. I had to reinstall the whole system and everything seems to work except the readings of the three analog input channels (one K-thermocouple and 2 times voltage). In the MAX the test panel says "out of range" for the channels. The digital channel (which is for switching valves in the apparatus) works fine!
    What can be wrong?
    - It's not the PCI card, I borrowed another one - it produces the same readings (And I tried all PCI buses in the computer)
    - The Measurement and Automation Explorer MAX recognises the card and the card passes the test.
    - I tried different settings like DIFF, NRSE and RSE, bipolar and unipolar but nothing changes for good.
    - The settings of my four channels were saved in the daqdrv, that's why I think the mistake is not in the channel settings, but somewhere else.
I have checked the "Checking your board settings" support files from NI but nothing seems to help.
Any idea from you will be much appreciated!
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello,
You should update your NI-DAQ driver by downloading and installing the following links:

  • Random errors using SCXI analog input on SCXI1100

This system is using a AT-MIO16E card and labview. I am performing single channel analog scans using the NI SCXI analog input example, modified to use the RMS and extract frequency examples. During static testing (ANy one input), the readings are fine. In one frame, the 1125 is polled 4x, and the 1100 is polled once. The scan for the 1100 module does an RMS and frequency extraction. In this frame, the result from the frequency is NAN and the RMS is 0 about 50% of the time. Individually, the modules acquire the data flawlessly (1 volt, 49.5kHz). The 1100 is is passed scan rate, buffers, scans. The signal acquired is a 50kHz square wave. I've tried scan rates from 150 to 250k. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

    Hello;
It's hard to tell what might be happening without seeing the code, but the best way to test that out is to acquire the data without applying the RMS functionality, and double check if the data is the expected.
If it is, then the problem is inside the RMS function. I'm sorry I couldn't give you a definite answer, but at this point the problem might be anywhere in the code, and we probably need to narrow the possibilities down.

  • Usb 6009 multiple analog inputs

I am currently attempting to sample two different analog inputs at different sampling rates using a USB 6009.  I keep getting the 'resource reserved' error and am wondering if this is not possible using this DAQ.  Questions:
    1.  Does creating two analog input channels on the device cause this error?
    2.  Is it possible to sample at different rates on channels created in the same task?  (i am trying to 'slow down' the second analog input to display switch points to a customer)
    3.  Running multiple analog inputs using independent timing would be better achieved by switching to a higher end DAQ?  If so which would you recommend?
I have attached my vi.  Thank you in advance for your help.
    I surf therefore I am....

The DAQ boards only have 1 timing clock for the analog inputs/outputs.  So you can only have 1 sample rate on a given card.  I would recommend just sampling at the highest of the desired rates in a single task.

  • How do I acquire multiple signals in the NI cDAQ 9172 using 2 analog input modules?

    Hi everyone,
Is anyone familiar with using the NI cDAQ 9172?  This is my first time using it and I am not sure what exactly I am doing wrong... Alone with a NI 9233 analog input module, it works great.  I can grab my 4 signals from each channel and go.  However, when I add another analog input module to the mix, it gets an error.  It looks like it is reading only one and not the other.  It bombs at one of the DAQ start task and read task.
Basically, the block diagram is just a double of the one 9233 working alone.  Is there something needed for input to make the 9172 working?  Any ideas?
Any help is much appreciated.  Thanks!!

    Hi Jud,
Both threads are correct.  The cDAQ-9172 has a single analog input timing engine, so both of your analog input modules will need to be in a single task.  The other VI you referenced shows one analog input task (with channels added from two modules) as well as an analog output task.  Analog output has a separate timing engine from analog input, so both of those can run in parallel independent tasks.
The beginning of this thread is a good example; a single DAQmx Create Task followed by a DAQmx Create Virtual Channel for channels from each module.  Also, Getting Started with NI-DAQmx will give you the fundamentals for data acquisition, though I don't know how many of their examples use CompactDAQ.

  • Synchronizing two counter frequency inputs with multiple analog inputs

    Hello all,
I'm fairly new to LabVIEW and I'm trying to collect data from multiple sources with synchronized timing on the acquisition but I'm having trouble figuring it out. My problem is that I've got two counter frequency inputs, one optical tachometer reading one pulse per revolution, and a max machinery flow meter with a k factor of 12000. I can't seem to figure out how to sync the timing with my multiple analog inputs. I've been attempting to get the tachometer  to sync with the analog inputs first by following the example linked here. (https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-10785) So far each time I run it I either get a timeout error on the DAQmx read or a "Multiple sample clock pulses were detected" error (see attached image).  It seems if I slow the sampling rate way down to say 10 hz and ensure that the tachometer signal is over 800-1000 RPM (13-17 Hz) before starting the VI then the program will run without errors until the RPM drops below that threshold then the "Multiple sample clock pulses" error occurs.  The code is attached below.
Does anyone know of a more effective way of syncing counter frequency inputs with analog inputs?  I'd like to have a VI that can show 0 RPM (and eventually 0 flow as well, but I think I need to figure out the timing of one counter before I add another as it seems I can't have two counters in the same task). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Maybe third times the charm?
So I've finally got a good handle on why the VI is having problems at low RPM though I'm somewhat embarassed how long it took me to do that
Because I have the counter time synced to my Analog input task if it doesn't see at least two pulses between the two clock pulses set by the analog input task I get the -201314 "Multiple sample clock pulses" error. This seems fine at first as it just sets a minimum RPM that I can measure and it's well below the area I'm interested in so no problems there.  I tried a simple error handler that would clear the error when it happend assuming the loop would keep iterating until the RPM went above that minimum at which point I would get a signal again. This is not the case, the read function just continues to spit out the -201314 error even after the RPM is back in the readable range. So then I tried adding two case structures so that when the error occured it would stop the task, clear the error, and then start the task again on the next loop iteration (Code Attached). This also doesn't work as the error shows up again on the stop task and then AGAIN on the start task on the next loop iteration. It seems this error is not actually being cleared and once it happens it stays with the task regardless of what the error cluster is carrying.
Anyone have any ideas?  The only solution I can think of is to just clear all tasks and recreate them each loop iteration until the RPM is readable again but that strikes me as a horribly clunky solution.

This is my code in C++, you can optimize it if it looks too messy. This code reads signal from analog input and outputs it through analog output.

  • Application exe not displaying analog input measurements

i am using the compactDAQ cDAQ 9172, after building the exe all the other digital and analog output ports are working properly whereas the analog input section is displaying the value as Zero, if i read read this channel from the max, it reads the values without any  errors.what might be the issues.

    Hi Kodeeswar:
I have a couple suggestions first try to create your analog input application with no digital or analog output task just "analog input" and then build the executable and try it again; second if it is possible for you please try updating to the new drivers of (NI DAQmx), and third reinstalling the last version of the “labview run time engine”. Also the 9172 is the chassis so which module are you using to handle the Analog Input application? To synchronize multiple modules or chassis if this is your case these links might be able to help you so please take a look at:  NI CompactDAQ Module Synchronization,  Synchronized Continuous Analog Input Across. I hope I was able to help you.
