Android app - tracking installations from marketing campaigns

Hello,
we need to track efficiency of our marketing campaigns. Now we see CTR, but that's all. We really would like to use Google Analytics connection with Google Play, but seems, that without implementing of Google Analytics SDK it's not possible. Or did someone succeeded at least with registering downloads numbers per campaign?
Android Native Application Tracking Overview - Google Analytics — Google Developers
BTW, support for this would be great as well
https://developers.google.com/app-indexing/

Hi Geordie,
The best way to do this is to compose your HTML page and post it to the public internet. Make sure your images have an absolute path (important). Browse the page with IE, Select All, Copy and Paste into the email or template. You will find that the email
template editor is poor at rendering complex HTML. You will find difficulty in sending good HTML emails from CRM without assistance - it will be sent Base64 encoded and as a badly formed fragment. (check out
www.vizola.com/vem for more info)
For most customers having a subject line token is not an option, so you're relying on CRM's intelligent matching. If you're sending a campaign you should be using the email router and sending from a queue, not sending via Outlook. If you want to 'hide'
the tracking token you're into writing email router handler overrides for sending and receiving to move it to an X-Header or similar - not trivial! Vem has it's own tracking token mechanism that is much more robust and can detect and correlate bounces from
email servers and raise appropriate campaign responses of type Error.
CRM will (should) create campaign responses (Interested) in response to any reply provided you've opened incoming emails support. Add Vem and you get monitored opens and click-throughs and much more, like personalisation of emails...
You can send individual emails from workflow but don't think you can send acampaign. Vem offers scheduled campaigns - you set the marketing list, template and scheduled datetime and it does the rest using custom workflow activity.
You are facing the same challenges as most when looking to use CRM for eMarketing.
Best regards,
Chris

  • Purchase orden from marketing campaign en CRM2007

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to customize the direct creation of purchase order from marketing campaign in my SAPCRM2007, but I have a few problems.
    I have assgined a project profile, the PEP element is correctly created in PS, and purchase orden NB (standar purchase order) is assigned in customizing to this project profile. I fill out the following values in Purchase Goods/Services assignment block:
    Good/Service ID
    Material group
    Vendor
    Quantity
    Unit
    Estimated unit price
    Currency
    Then I release the marketing campaign and save it. In Messages assignment block I can see several error messages from ERP:
    Enter valuation price
    Enter Purchasing Org
    Instance of object type could not be changed
    Obviously the purchase order is not created in ERP, so I don`t know what configuration steps do I have to make in ERP order. Repect purchasing Org in CRM I don't know where they are, is there any mapping between Marketing Organization in campaign and Purchasing Org?
    Thanks in advance

    Thank you for the answer Robin. I understand you to create an inforecord in ME61 in order to maintain a valuation price. However, I now are testing using only the following information:
    Material Group
    Estimated price
    Units, quantity and currency
    I get the "Enter purchasing organization" error. My question is, I have maintained a marketing organizatio unit in my PPOMA_CRM CRM tcode. This marketing organization unit is assigned to my campaign, but, where can i made the relationship between my CRM Marketing Organization unit and a R3 Purchasing Org? I think this is my last step but I don't know where I have to do it.
    Thanks in advance

  • Updated my Android app Trackometer: comment

    Trackometer is an Android phone app that was one of the first AIR-made android apps in the Google Market in Oct 2010. Here is the link:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.runningmap.Trackometer
    At the time I thought it was apprporiate to compile the app without AIR as a "captive runtime." For the years since there have only been a few people who complained about having to download AIR. But even now I think it is odd when someone is forced to download the AIR app when they try to run my app. (with 11,000 downloads, this app caused a lot of AIR app downloads I'm sure). So I finally decided to replace the app with a version that has AIR compiled into it (plus a few other small changes and fixes). The size result:
    previous version: 500k
    new version: 9mb
    Oh well. That seems to be ok with app sizes these days.
    I had not touched the app in a couple years and I was impressed with how opening up the project in FB4.7 and upgrading from AIR 3.1 SDK  to 3.6 caused only a small amount of required changes.
    A funny thing with how the layout looks is that I simulated all the GUI as native apps on Froyo looked ... which has now changed on Android. I didn't change it.

    This is an interesting graph. I took two from Google and overlaid them in photoshop: Daily installs, Daily uninstalls.

    Sorry for late reply..I was away.
    @TBO27, I've tried that and it does stop the downloads and installs but only temporarily. The next time I connect the WiFi it starts downloading and reinstalling again.
    @Tidbits, No, that app isn't preinstalled. I can uninstall it easily enough but it really gets annoying when a bunch of the old apps get reinstalled one after the other. I chose Sharesfinder as an example. There are many others.  I had downloaded a few electronics tutorials and simulators 2 phones ago and even they get put back...sigh.
    When I bring up my Google Play Apps on the PC I can bring up the settings where it asks whether or not to show each phone in the menus. There is a checkbox for each phone. That and a button to rename the phone. I unchecked all the phones from there except the latest, most current phone but it is as if this list was being ignored.
    I reset the phone a few days ago but this time I unchecked the google backup and restore. I have to keep it off until I figure this out unfortunately...
    edit: Since I was testing a paid backup app I reset the phone and since I didn't let Google reinstall anything automatically but installed all my apps myself, the "My Apps" in Google Play showed only those few apps I installed myself. Everything looks as it should. I was quite happy that it finally "took" and stopped the extra app nonsense. Sad to say that when I checked that box for Google to backup and restore my Apps, passwords, settings, etc. then POOF...all those old unwanted apps came back....sigh.

  • The file to download the app for Android is not working from my phone--it says that the file isn't there. However it does see the one for the Iphone (even though it can't use it). I'm very computer literate and am pretty sure the problem is on your end.

    The file to download the app for Android is not working from my phone--it says that the file isn't there. However it does see the one for the Iphone (even though it can't use it). I've tried it multiple times and continue to get the same message: "NOT FOUND The requested item could not be found". I also tried through the Market application on the phone but ended-up with the same result.
    I'm very computer literate and am pretty sure the problem is on your end. If this is the case then no one can download the app. I considered that perhaps because it's still in Beta that it was removed due to some other type of software issue. I would really like to use Firefox on my new Droid (2.0); when with this be available?

    Firefox will not appear in the Market for most phones with incompatible hardware. You can check if your phone is supported here:
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
    Even on some supported devices, a bug in the Market software prevents Firefox from showing up. This may be related to the fairly recent Android Market app update. If you go to Settings/Applications/Market and choose "Uninstall" you can uninstall the update, and then search for and install Firefox from the marketplace.
    Or, if you have a supported phone, you can download the app directly by typing this address into your phone's browser: http://bit.ly/fxbeta3
    (Note: To download the app directly for an AT&T phone, you will have to search for instructions on "sideloading" the APK file, since AT&T disables the option to install from non-Market sources.)

  • How do I change the Version Code in the Flash Android settings Android app market?

    I recently tried to update my app in the Android app market and when I uploaded it I got the following message:
    "The new apk's versionCode (1000000) already exists."
    In the Flash Adnroid settings I changed the version label but that did not help.
    So I have two questions:
    How do I change the Version code in the Flash Android settings? I changed the version number and version label but that did not work.
    What is the difference between the version number and version label?

    I tried that but it did not work. Apparently there is a difference between the version code and version number (which is set in the Android settings). From my research the version label is optional, so there are no problems there.
    This is the what the XML file says:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>
    <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.6">
      <id>com.company.nameofapp</id>
    //Below is the correct version number, but has no relation to the version code.
      <versionNumber>1.1.0</versionNumber>
      <versionLabel>NewLayout</versionLabel>
      <filename>Name of app</filename>
      <description/>
    I did find this piece of information for Androin version codes. (http://developer.android.com/guide/publishing/versioning.html)  But I don't know how to place it into the xml file without conflicting with other code.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

          package="com.example.package.name"
          android:versionCode="2"

        <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name">
        </application>
    </manifest>
    Any other thoughts are much appreciated.

  • App will not open after update from market.

    I have an android app that when I publish an update and the user downloads the update the app will not open.  It opens for a second and then closes.
    This happens even if I do not change anything in the update.
    The only thing I can find is that after downloading the update I clear the cache and it works fine.  My question is does anyone know why this might happen.  Also is there a way to clear the cache at time of update.

    ok i created a hello world app to try a nail down this issue.
    i created the app with version 1.0.0
    uploaded it to my server on the net.
    hit the web address from my phone, downloaded and installed
    then changed the version number to 1.0.1
    uploaded this apk
    downloaded and installed to phone
    app would then open for sec then close
    only fixable by clearing application cache.
    I can't believe the answer to this problem is not available by googling it.
    has no one else encountered this?
    please help, i am scared to release any updates to my programs - massive influx of email from mad users who can not open there apps.

  • Can you launch an android app from an android app built with air?

    Hi I might a have project coming up soon where one of the requirements is that the android air application can launch another application on the device...
    In pure java this would look something like this....
    Intent LaunchIntent = getPackageManager().getLaunchIntentForPackage("com.rpg.rbar");
    startActivity(LaunchIntent);
    Does anyone no if I can perform a similar method using as3
    Thanks
      Aidan

    Try the below.  Found this at the below link.
    http://www.blogbyben.com/2013/04/launching-android-app-from-adobe-air-app.html
    var url:String = ("intent:#Intent;" + "action=android.intent.action.MAIN;" + "category=android.intent.category.LAUNCHER;" + "component=com.android.settings/.Settings;" + "end");  navigateToURL(new URLRequest(url));
    Question I have is, is there any way to get a list of currently installed apps?

  • Initiate Application Installation from App Catalog via Command Line / PowerShell

    Hey Guys -
    We have a single, fairly extensive OSD task sequence which covers systems for all departments.  Due to it being a single TS for all, PC Lab techs must manually install some apps after it finishes via the Application Catalog.  In past environments,
    I've used MDT's UDI Wizard to create a frontend where techs could select additional software they wanted installed during the TS and it worked great!  I'm trying to get something like that approved now, but in the meantime told the techs I'd come up with
    a temporary solution to make their job easier.
    Enter WPI (Windows Post Installer.)  Back in the days before I used SCCM OSD and relied in Acronis images (yuck), I used a the WPI tool which only ran once - at the first login - even before the desktop
    loaded.  It's highly customizable and basically shows a single window which lists any applications or scripts (in groups) which you have configured.  You place a checkmark beside each one you want to install, click the "Install" button,
    then watch it's installer frontend install each of the selected apps.  Once done, it either restarts the PC or exists to the desktop.  For each application I can add, I'm provided with a few options to
    install it.  Obviously, an installation command line string field, but also a few more like installation order, requirements, and dependencies.
    My Question
    Each of the applications I've listed are in our Application Catalog and are advertised to All Users.  Even though I could simply point the installer string to the app's source path and use the same string that the SCCM Application uses, I've been asked
    to do something different.  Instead, I'm trying to find a command line string which when run would perform the same action as if a user had selected to install an Application from the Application Catalog.
    My thoughts are that if this is possible, it would probably be in the form of a PowerShell string - not just a basic command line one.  Since WPI has a frontend which shows the progress of each app's installation progress as well as overall progress,
    it's designed for the installation strings to install the app silently.  Therefore, I would much prefer my solution run silently as well if possible.
    So... does anyone have any idea for how I can make this happen? Thanks!
    In case it makes a difference or answers any questions, below are two screenshots showing most of the fields and options which may be used to configure how an application installs in WPI.  I couldn't include the Dependencies one since I could only
    attach two images to my post.  Also, the manual for WPI is embedded in the application's
    download (ZIP) and not a page on their site.  For the examples below, I used Google Chrome, but didn't configure anything besides the application's name:
    Application Detail Options
    Application Command Options
    Ben K.

    From what I'm reading, you are working towards MDT but it's not approved yet, so the goal is to:
    Deploy a "bundle" of applications as painlessly as possible without using UDI to make customizations quick.
    Lets talk options then.
    Option 1:  If machines types are in a unique OU or security group, create a collection for that and set these applications to mandatory install.  After initial deployment, the provisioner can drop the computer in the proper OU or group and you're
    good to go.  Downside:  collections refresh plus client check-in makes this less than instant.
    Option 2:  Orchestrator.  You can write a runbook that will approve and push apps.  You can then use the Orch console front end or a more friendly sharepoint/SM portal to push things out like a Manager would approve apps.  Downside:  if
    not already deployed, there's no way they would approve that infrastructure if they are hesitant about MDT/UDI :)
    Option 3:  PowerShell and WMI.  This should be doable ... but I've never tried it.  It looks like you're headed down the right path ... but i guess my question is:  if you can't have UDI when do get to pick the app?  Are you planning
    to write a full multi-box for them to check their apps after the fact?  In that case ... just have the appcontroller URL pop up on first login ... might be easier than reinventing the wheel.

  • Is there an APK android app downloader for Firefox? Need to download via PC then copy to a non-internet connected tablet for installation

    I have two Android tablets that are not connected to the internet (long story). I'd like to download Android Apps via my PC and copy them to my Android tablets. I do not want to use the Chrome APK extension for a variety of reasons. The apps I need are free, but without an internet connection, I can't obtain them. They are not available for direct download from the developer sites.

    Read the question again FredMcD, he was asking for ways to download .apk files on computer to then install them on Android tablets.
