  • Issues in ICS update for Xperia Arc

I am using Xperia Arc. I have done the ICS update recently and I am totally disappointed with this update. The thing is some features already there in the 2.3.4 version of android is not there in ICS update.
When long press the power button ‘take screenshot’ option was there in the 2.3.4 but in ICS that option is not there.
I have seen the beautiful lock screen in ICS forums but it is missing in the ICS update
Music player is still same like 2.3.4 android version. I was expecting the custom equalizer as like Arc S . but it is not there in Arc ICS update
Google says recently opened apps will be displayed in the home screen in ICS. But its missing in the my ICS update.
Google says live and transformation effects are there in ICS but I am not able to see those things in my Xperia Arc after ICS update.
Kindly let me know is there any solutions for the above issues..
    Thanks
    Manivannan

    1. You take screenshot by long pressing power and volume down button (booth at same time) in ICS, thats how google has made it.
    2. What beautiful lockscreen are you talking about? Sony has kept the lockscreen same because thats the lock screen many users are used to.
    3. Yes music player is same. I have an Arc S, the music player is same. The music player with equalizer is in Xperia S not in Arc S.
    4. Google never said any such things. You can see the recently opened apps by LONG PRESSING THE HOME BUTTON and can close them by Swiping it off the screen.
    5. Once again Google didnt say any such thing. If you want to change transision effects and stuff use Apex Launcher instead of Sony's launcher. You can get Apex launcher for free from Play Store.
Hope i helped. If you have any question ask i'll try to help.

  • How do I get the Open Dialog on Android ICS 4.0?

    Hi,
I am using Flash CS6, Android setup, 3.0 AS
I have a Galaxy Tab, ICS 4.0 for a device
I can read & write a text file perfectly fine on my PC.
But, when I upload to my Galaxy Tab 2 (7")....
    1) I get a generic dialog that displays my path (/mnt/sdcard/) ... And it also displays "Audio, Image, Video" options. It says "Download" as a diaglog title.
I can save the file perfectly fine.
    2) When I try to open, it only displays the "Audio, Image, Video" options BUT DOES NOT allow me to open the file I saved.
SO, HOW DO I GET A DIALOG THAT ALLOWS ME TO BROWSE TO THE FILE I SAVED??

It is impossible with just AIR. If you do not want to user native extensions you can easily implement a simple file browser with File class.

  • Android M, When are we getting Android M? Which Xperias will be updated? etc

Android M was just announced today and there's no info as to when this update will be released.   The Android M release: improving the fundamentalsFor the M release, we focused on improving the core user experience of Android, from fixing thousands of bugs, to making some big changes to the fundamentals of the platform:  Permissions - We are giving users control of app permissions in the M release. Apps can trigger requests for permissions at runtime, in the right context, and users can choose whether to grant the permission. Making permission requests right when they’re needed means users can get up and running in your app faster. Also, users have easy access to manage all their app permissions in settings. On M, as a developer, you should design your app to prompt for permissions in context and account for permissions that don’t get granted. As more devices upgrade to M, app permission behavior will be a critical development flow to test. App links - We are making it even easier to link between apps. Android has always allowed apps to register to natively handle URLs. Now you can add an autoVerify attribute to your app manifest so that users can be linked deep into your native app without any disambiguation prompt. App links, along with App Indexing for Google search, make it easier for users to discover and re-engage with your app.
Battery - We’re making Android devices smarter about managing power through a new feature called Doze. With M, Android uses significant motion detection to learn if a device has been left unattended for a while. In this state, Android will exponentially back off background activity, trading off a little bit of app freshness for longer battery life. Consider how this may affect your app; for instance, if you’re building a chat app, you may want to make use of high priority messages to wake your app when the device is dozing.  Source Link

  • How do i activate Sony HS-USB Android Diag ports on Xperia Z3?

Hi Folks. I have been trying to get the HS-USB Android Diag/Modem/Serial ports activated so that they show in Device Manager, to no avail.  Is there a special number sequence i enter into the dialler? Or is there a special USB driver i have to install? I am able to to activate these ports using my Samsung S4, so surely it is possible for the Xperia Z3?! I remember successfully doing this on an earlier Xperia phone, but cannot how i did it. Would be grateful for any help please. Thanks in advance.

Yes i have installed PCC, but still not able to activate the Diag ports. Really frustrating this is, as with Samsung all i did was install their Kees software and instantly the Diag/Modem ports were activated. I will have to keep trying/searching and hope somehow i can do/find it. Thanks for your suggestion though!

  • The new Android ICS update will not let me use iCloud email

I figured out how to use a @me.com account on my android, but with the new ICS update it keeps saying "Username or password incorrect" except that they aren't. I even changed them but it still says this. It is a different alert if I get the other settings wrong.

    I figured it out! https://discussions.apple.com/message/19273401#19273401

  • Force GPU rendering on wt19i live with walkman running android ics .587

hello guys , I have mixed sensations opinions about Force GPU rendering , can I know if it really improve and what are its pros?? and if i enable it on and then i turn it off will it affect my experience, I am not rooted and with locked booloader on official ics .587 by sony, Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It won't improve anything at all actually, since apps will activate this when needed. This is a developer option, used by developers. Having this option checked can actually cause issues if apps that don't need GPU rendering is forced to use it.
So my suggestion is that you uncheck it and keep it that way, unless you are developing your own app which needs GPU rendering-tests.

  • Problems with Android 2.1 for Xperia Mini-Pro: no Twitter on Timescape and not all contacts restored - please help!

Hello all!  I own an Xperia Mini-Pro which I updated with Android 2.1 yesterday.  Having some problems, the main ones being: 1) Timescape does not allow me to sign in to Twitter (it claims my username and password are incorrect, despite successful log-ons with the same details via Twitter Mobile); and 2) not all my backed-up contacts have been restored to my phonebook (and yet they still exist somewhere in the phone - I know this because I can bring up full contact details for people who've sent me SMS - but I cannot find them if I use the phonebook interface).  Someone please help?  Cheers - Jos

I suggest that you try to clear data and any cache in for the Timescape app.
Menu> Settings> Applications> Manage Applications> Click on the first hardware button (the one with four squares)> Filter> All> Timescape> Clear data and any cache.
Then check if you get the same error when trying to log in to Twitter.
Regarding the contacts I think you should check if they maybe filtered in the phone book. Open the phone book and click on the first hardware button (the one with four squares) > Contacts to view.
Check if some of your contacts might be filtered.
