I have a J2EE application which is deployed in Oracle10AS. When a user tries to access this application, the application should use windows login information and authenticate the user and allow access to the user.

The configurations in mod_osso.conf were not made properly hence getRemoteUser() was failing. Once mod_osso.conf was configured properly everything went well.

are you sure that it is the BSP that is taking much time do show ?
Isn't it any Function Modules, Method, or other that is triggered everytime this BSP is launched ?
You see, maybe the performance is related with ABAP code (SELECTS, authorizations, etc...) but not with the BSP itself.
I strongly doubt that a BSP takes 15 minutes to render.
It has to be something else.
Have you made performance analysis ?
Traces ?
Where exactly is this application taking more time ?
Is it on a method call ?
On a function module ?
What type of BSP is this ?
Custom or Standard ?
Does this happen with all your BSPs, or just this one ?
Is this a MVC type BSP ?
Or a simple BSP ?
What does your BSP page contain inside ?
Too many includes ?

You may use any of the two ways:
1. Use the interface. Go to Navigator, and go to that particular page where that portlet is, and then edit it. Go to Properties/Cache. See at the very bottom of the page for how to clear cache for that page.
2. See details of the api function for cache invalidation.

Application Performance with DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO

Does anybody have any idea how the use of DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO affects application performance?
Or should DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO only be used for test and development environments?
I'm looking at the option of using this package alongside the SYS_CONTEXT function to maintain application security and audit trails in a production environment.

The call itself is pretty cheap. If you are calling it from a middle tier, though, it may increase the "chatter" generated by the application. If you're generating an extra packet every second to make these calls, there could be an issue.

Jeff, I appreciate your comment, so you haven't had any problem with using the painttools in CS 6 photoshop and the 3d type etc, in other words all the features that CS6 photoshop has.
I was thinking about buying the mac mini but was concerned how it works with CS 5 (which I have) I will have to take another look at the MiniMac server with the 3000 card. I do a lot of Digital Painting primarily Painter 12.2 but and would like to use the Painter brushes in CS 5 ( have not upgraded to CS 6.) My Imac is 6 years old and really is not fast enough.

How to get the application expose with a mouse

Hi,
I want to get a quick overview of all open windows of the SAME application (= application expose). Normally, you can do this with your trackpad (three or four fingers down movement); I am now working with a "normal" (non-Apple) mouse and keyboard. How do I get the application expose with the mouse? I am able to quickly get the misson control wiht CTRL + right mouse click; and I am getting the App expose with shift + arrow down.
Isn't there a way to get the application expose with the mouse as well? E.g. CTRL + Shift + right click would be very useful but that's taken by the 'slow moving' mission control.
I know, it's a minor detail but it would be quite good for the workflow

How to enhance the standard search with custom field?

Hi all,
I would like to know the general optimal procedure to enhance the standard searches like Opportunity search or Lead search.
I've gone through some of the threads here. Some suggest, to add the new field using AET and copy the IMPL class of the search and then code the custom logic. Some say, append the new field to the structure of the search object and then implement the BADI.
I'm actually a bit confused to understand the correct procedure.
Can someone please help me with a generic procedure to enhance the standard search with a custom field?

Once I have got the same development. I have followed the below steps, please check with this. Let me know for further inputs.
Add new field using Append structure of type ‘XXX’ in search
Create BADI implementation for Enhancement spot ‘ES_CRM_RF_Q1O_SEARCH’ and include filter ‘BTQOPP’
Put your logic in BADI implementation – SEARCH method
Add it in WebUI configuration
Remove the operator if required

I've browsed winehq about world of warcraft but I'm just looking for more details on how well world of warcraft runs with wine. Also wondering which wine version is the best and does the opengl option still work and recommended over directx.

After some googleing I tried running it with:

It definitely worked that time but when I click on a character and enter the world it crashes with this error:

I fixed it! I had to create a registry key and set my video cards ram in the direct3d key.

How to enhance Oracle Datapump Performance (AIX, Oracle 11.1.0.7.0)

For some testing pupose we have to do import a 230GB dump file. This is very time consuming while import.
1. How can I identify the MAX parallesim supported by Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 AIX.? Is it depend upon the no of processor on server.? How can i find that?
2. Will it helpful if the expdp dump from source(production) will taken as compress=y .?
3. Is it advisible to exclude the indexes while impdp import and will create it manually after import. Will it improve the performance and time can be saveed?

Hi,
we do a 100GB export and import both in around 15 minutes on AIX 5.3 and Oracle 10.2. We do the export parallel to 4 dump files. Oracle takes the tables in sequence as you give them to the export. We have in this dump 2 big tables, we put them first and then the rest. We see that there are 2 export running on the 2 big tables, and the rest is taken by the other 2. This gives a good balance for export. The import goes the same. We make full exports and imports, so including indexes (also some text indexes). This proces is not CPU bounded (there are 4 CPU), but mostly on I/O (we have a big SAN) or memory.
The best is to give the most memory to Oracle, make the Caching of AIX OS to a minimum, but these are also the best practices to run a database on AIX.
You have to make some test with the parameters of expdp to get the best result, or test export without indexes and with indexes. We also had to do it this way.

How to deploy J2EE Application?

I have JDeveloper 9.0.3 and I want to deploy application to AS 9i. My application have EJB and I want to run my EJBs at AS and connect to it from application or Applet. In JDeveloper my application works well. But I don�t know how can I deploy it to AS. Which deploy profile I have to use to deploy my EJBs, which to my EJB_fasades, and which to my Client. Should I deploy it separately or together?

To deploy EJBs to Oracle9iAS or any appserver, you need create EJB.jar deployment profile
File | New -> Deployment Profiles.

I have the Duke's Bank demo running on a Linux PC "crackpad" (http://thomasfly.com:8000/bank/logon CustomerID=200, Password=j2ee) which I can access LAN-wise as http://crackpad:8000/etc. Accessing the bank as an administrator using the J2EE app. client also works fine (locally) on the Linux PC.
I've also installed & run the Bank demo on a Windows PC, so I have all the req'd ears & jars there as well.
