Switching tabs in a browser

Greetings internet community.
I've created an Edge animation that syncs up with an audio voiceover file. It uses the HTML5 audio tag with a simple javascript command from Edge to play the audio. It works great. But if I run it in Google's Chrome browser with mutliple tabs running, and I switch tabs in the middle of an animation, I run into a problem. The timeline appears to pause but the audio keeps going. Then when I switch back, the animation continues, but it is now out of sync with the audio.
So, is there a way to capture the tab-switching event and pause the audio, then of course restart it when the page regains the focus?
An alternative would be to have some sort of listener to constantly check that the audio is in sync, but I imagine that would get quite messy. I figure, worst case is that I need to include a "restart animation" button for the user to hit if it does go out of sync.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Chris

While not tested for a sound or animation, the following worked when implemented on the Stage > focus (jquery) event handler
$(window).focus(function() {
// Capture message to element called Result
    sym.$("Result").html("This window has focus");
// Add Play sound and timeline routine here
}).blur(function() {
// Capture message to element called Result
    sym.$("Result").html("Focus is in another window");
//  Add Pause sound and timeline routine here

  • Firefox29 cannot close or switch tabs on OSX10

clicking on a tab no longer switches to corresponding tab window
no way to close tab; the 'x' is gone and right clicking the tab just shows the customize menu for the browser
this rendered it unusable for me and I had to switch back to FF 28

Problem with frozen / unselectable tabs applies to PCs as well, the extension that was affected by Firefox 29 is
<br>'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/how-many-times-can-i-back/ How Many Times Can I Back?]''' :: Add-ons for Firefox
You will have to disable the extension for now. I see you went back to Firefox 28 (a lot easier on your health). It was really a pain trying to switch tabs strictly through the "List all tabs" drop-down, and use Ctrl+T, and Ctrl+W (or for you with the Mac Cmd key ⌘ ).
I had the same problem, it is now reported in
<br>[http://kb.mozillazine.org/index.php?title=Problematic_extensions Problematic extensions - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]
Firefox 29 made changes to Tabs, and removal of the Addons Bar. since you also show Status-4-Evar in your "MORE SYSTEM DETAILS" you use the Addons bar and have a problem there as well. You also have another extension one with the word "tab" in it "Old Firefox Tab 1.0" which could be affected as well.
Either of these extensions will restore the addons bar, I prefer
[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/ The Addon Bar (restored)] which I prefer because I have tabs on the bottom.
Those who can stand tabs on top and the hugh Firefox button may prefer <br>[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis) :: Add-ons for Firefox]
<br>I see you did try that when you were on Firefox 29.
Both extensions preserve "Ctrl+/" shortcut to toggle the Add-ons bar.

If you look in your "'''MORE SYSTEM DETAILS'''" in the right hand panel you can see what see of the extensions and plugins that you have. For instance

I'm working through my own problems and will be able to use Firefox 29 even though some of my toolbar buttons are almost invisible (only my own styles are affected by that).

  • Is there a hot-key to switch tabs?

How do I switch tabs without using my mouse?

    * Use "Ctrl+Page Up" or "Shift+Ctrl+Tab" to go to the Previous Tab and "Ctrl+Page Down" or "Ctrl+Tab" to go to the Next tab.
    * Use Ctrl + 1 to Ctrl + 8 to go to the first 8 tabs and Ctrl + 9 to go to the last tab (on Linux use the Alt key, on Mac use the Cmd key)

  • My NoSquint zoom settings are all screwed up. They magnify and de-magnify when I switch tabs. How do I fix this?

NoSquint was working fine. Then, after an unexpected power outage, it stopped working fine after I powered my computer back up. Basically, the problem is this: I open a new tab, and the page loads to its desired magnification. I open another tab, and that page loads to its desired magnification. Then I switch back to the first tab, and the page is no longer at the desired magnification. Then I switch back to the second tab, and that page is no longer at the desired magnification. So I'm constantly re-setting the magnification, each time I switch tabs.
Before the outage I had noticed that this was a problem with Facebook pages (for whatever reason), but it never happened with other pages. Now it happens for all the pages I load.
Also since the power outage, I've noticed that pages are loading funny--text overlapping other text, images off register, etc.
Please help restore my once near-perfect browser to near perfection!

    You can try:

You can rename the file content-prefs.sqlite to content-prefs.sqlite.old (or delete the file) in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to reset the page zoom on all sites.

  • Firefox lags when I switch tabs

Whenever I switch tabs, it takes 2-10 seconds for firefox to respond. When it takes longer, windows even mark browser as Not responding.
In the task manager I can see that it is using full one of my 4 cores.
Very rarely, the firefox also "spits out" the tab I click into a new window - what is that supposed to be?
I tryed to click tabs, double click tabs and none of such actions led to a new window - but as soon as the browser lags, new window is very likely to appear.
I have added the debug info. But I insist that the thing is same in the no-addon mode. I also remember having similar problem with clean firefox installation.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

  • How do I add a tiny logo to the tab in the browser?

How do I add a tiny logo to the tab in the browser?

    Hello,
You're most possibly referring to "Favicons", and they can be added in a Muse site from the "File -> Site Properties -> Layout" section. Check this screenshot: http://jingsite.businesscatalyst.com/jing/2013-09-05_2332.png
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I keep my downloads from opening 100's of tabs in my browser?

I tried downloading a free trial of After Effects for the second time; I then tried selecting where I wanted to send it to on my computer, then I clicked the box at the bottom. Next thing I know, it's opening a hundred tabs in my browser a second and the only way to stop it is by closing all tabs. It's the same thing when I tried downloading the free trial for Final Cut. Does anyone know of how I can stop this, so I may be able to download apps successfully?

opening endless tabs would only cost you money if your isp charges you for the amount of data you download and each of those tabs is loading something.  adobe will charge you nothing.
and no, the downloading stops and the tab opening stops once you close your browser.  you should be able to verify by opening your browser again (which i'm pretty sure you did in order to post here) and seeing no more problem with your tabs.
also, that's not an adobe issue.  you have a browser issue.
if you google, <your browser name> opens endless tabs, you should be able to find a solution to the problem, though the above link will probably circumvent the problem if you want a quick work-around.

  • Is there a way to 'Force all Links to be opened in New Tabs ' like Maxthon browser?

Is there a way to get Firefox to 'Force all Links to be opened in New Tabs, like Maxthon browser does ? I really like this Maxthon feature but hate Maxthon as it has always has and continues to lock up all the time (what a pain!!)
Hoping Firefox can do this. By the way I know if you right click a link and ask for it to open in a new tab it will. I want it to be automatic.
    Thank you

I gave an AppleScript and an other helper described a scheme relying upon standard features.

  • If I would like to have all opened tabs in my browser stop loading a webpage is their a shortcut key that will allow this?

If I open too many Bookmarked pages into tabs my browser will hang and then sometimes crash or close unexpectedly.
If I bring up task manager or use the Alt + Tab I can navigate to the window and right-click and choose restore to allow me to see the window again. This needs to be done if I load more than 10 pages at once. Is there a way to choose to prevent loading of all opened tabs and then choose which tabs I'm currently working with to load the webpage? I would like to know how to use a shortcut key on my keyboard to select all tabs as ctrl + A does not work and then escape or another key tells to stop all pages from loading in each tab as with all the ads, gifs, videos, and internet spam keeps growing it is too much of a strain to have multiple webpages opened in tabs on the browser.
I use Win XP SP2 and I am eagerly waiting a solution as it has been an issue with even previous versions of Firefox however IE could only have about 3 tabs opened and then would crash that is why I stick with Firefox as my browser of choice.

  • Switching tabs while working with Premiere Pro CS5

    Hello there.
I am currently working with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and I notice that when I'm reproducing/previewing the timeline or am recording, for example, an audio track, everytime I switch tabs (switch to another window or to desktop), in this case the recording stops. I've searched around Preferences and in help files and I cannot find an option to make Premiere continue what he's doing despite me changing windows. Is this even possible? It would be very helpful.
    Cheers!

    >Is this even possible?
No... PPro must have full control of the computer to work... shift to another program and PPro stops

  • When I'm on youtube and I'm watching a video, and I switch tabs or look at something else, the video from youtube will appear in the corner of my screen and won't leave.

Alright, lets say I'm watching a video on youtube. If I switch tabs, the video from youtube will appear in my top left screen and won't go away. Or if I go to any other site or program and try to open a file from my computer, the video will pop up in the corner again and I won't be able to see anything I need to. This sounds like a glitch or something. I just need to know how to fix it.

Does this only happen on specific pages?

  • Cannot switch tabs past a tab viewing a PDF

When I have a tab open with a PDF in it (using Adobe Acrobat 9.3.0.148 plugin) I cannot switch tabs using Ctrl-Tab and Ctrl-Shift-Tab past that particular tab. Ctrl-W won't close the tab with the PDF in it either. It looks like if you dont click within the PDF document or one of the viewer plugin toolbars etc it will let you tab past, as soon as you click within the PDF it no longer works, even if you change to a different tab and then try going past it again. Using the mouse scroll wheel to scroll through the document does not cause this behaviour to kick in either. Also in this state you cannot use Ctrl-F when you tab onto the PDF tab unless you click on the PDF itself (same goes for cursor keys and page up/down keys). FF2 used to allow you to tab past the PDFs without any issue, i noticed this on 3.5.1 while upgrading to 3.6.3. So its like keyboard focus is lost somewhere between FF and the PDF plugin.
I remember in FF2 you used to get a faint rectanglular highlight within the tab so you could tell the focus was on the tab not within the page. Thats also gone now.
I havent been able to find an existing bug specificaly on this issue, or any other potential work arounds. So just want to check before i log a bug, of course this could be an Adobe plugin issue, although it does appear to be linked with how the focus is maintained on components within FF.

  • I'm trying to reverb an audio clip in my timeline and I can't find the effect tab in the browser to drag to my audio clip to reverb. I can reverb the clip in the viewer but can't it won't drag to the timeline. I'm using FCE

I'm trying to reverb an audio clip in my timeline and I can't find the effect tab in the browser to drag to my audio clip to reverb. I can reverb the clip in the viewer but it won't drag to the timeline. I'm using FCE

You cannot drag the effects themselves to the timeline.  You add them to a clip in the Viewer, just as you have done.
If the clip was already in the timeline when you  opened it in the Viewer (by double-clicking it in the timeline to open it in the Viewer) and then added the reverb effect, there is nothing further to do, you have added the effect to the clip.  You don't drag it back to the timeline.
You only have to drag the clip to the timeline if the clip was not already in the timeline (for example, if you opened the clip from the FCE Browser; or set different In and Out points in a master clip to use a different portion of the master clip in a different location in your timeline).
Depending on the effect you add, you may have to render the timeline after adding the effect.  But I don't think reverb requires immediate rendering.  One other note, you said you were working with an audio clip ... audio clips need to be AIFF (not MP3 or something else) and preferably 16-bit stereo.
