Annotation model validation

Hi,
I'm trying to build an annotation based framework and I wonder if there is a way to validate the developers' use of the framework's annotations.
For instance :

}I'd like that at compilation time, an error says "Inside a TCPConnectionHandler, only one member can me marked as @In and it must be an InputStream."

If you mean making assertions about what is (or should be) seen via static analysis, then yes.
Regarding my issue, to be more precise, I'd like the

Yep, once you do the static analysis inside your Processor's process() method, and find an error, you get a Messager object from the Processing Environment (which you are passed) and then get the Messager to output the error. The actual compilation phase will not then take place.

for an example processor that checks for throwing unchecked exceptions.
That example uses the compile line to explicit call the processor, but for your case the automatic discovery technique makes it seemless for users of your jar.
And I really do mean seamless, they will need the jar file on their classpath so the compiler can find the class files for your annotations they are using, and if that is the case, then the compiler will also find your processor, and they'll get error messages and a failed compile if they are misusing the annotations (according to the processor). Its pretty amazing really.

  • ADF Model Validation using JPA/EJB stack.

    Hi,
    We are evaluating 11g and are interested in implementing using a JPA/EJB3.0/Toplink - EJB Session Bean - ADF bindings - ADF Faces RC stack.
    Looking at the declarative validation rule framework, I am trying to determine whether I can define domain model validation rules that can be propagated up through to the ADF faces RC layer. We have looked previously, at the ADF BC framework and note that it can be done there, but we wish to use a pure EJB/JPA solution.
    I can see how validation rules can be declared at the page bindings layer in the pageDef file, and this all works. However, these same validation rules applied to the Structure Definition <entitybeanname>.xml file, do not propagate up through the ADF binding layer, although the xsd of the structure definition file does appear to support it. The documentation I have read is somewhat ambigious as to whether this is possible.
    Basically, it would be nice to have some form of domain attribute validation that can be defined against the entity bean attributes that is available in the service and UI layer ala Hibernate Validator etc...
    Anyone, got any suggestions?

    I'm not sure I understand what the "ADF own transaction operation" is. Could you explain?
    If you have to write your own persist method, what's the proper way to go about doing this? Is there a tutorial to be found somewhere? What I have now has been created by following the tutorial linked above, I haven't modified the code yet. Looking at the code I found this:
    jTable1.setModel((TableModel)panelBinding.bindUIControl("tableNameFindAll",jTable1));
    Where tableNameFindAll is related to a named query TableName.FindAll.
    There seems to be a data structure named "UpdateableCollection" which provides the operations such as 'create', 'next', 'first', etc. Would a subclass of this be the proper place to put a 'commit' function? I'm assuming through the bind control I could gain access to either this UpdateableCollection or the list of entities (List<tableName>) then I suppose I could go through this list and persist the new ones. But I think this doesn't fit with the paradigm as these are data control operations not interface operations. So I'm wondering where should I put the 'commit' operation (which should both add new data and merge the updated data) and how do I bind it to the interface? I just couldn't find a tutorial explaining all of this, but perhaps it's out there.

  • Getting the error "check annotations are valid?" during deployment on 11g

    I am getting the annotations and classnotfound error during deployment on weblogic 11g. But in the error stack trace it is not showing any classname.
    I am upgrading the code from weblogic 9.2 to 11g. The code running fine on 9.2. I made all the changes that are required to migrate. But when i m going to deploy the war file i am getting the error. Please help me in resolving the error.

    Hi All,
    After trying so many times to resolve this error i found one strange thing.
    I have the Listeners in my web.xml which are calling the ServletContextListener to create the one and only instance.
    But in weblogic.jar there is no ServletContextListener class to be called. that is the reason i am still getting the deployment error.
    Could someone please let me know where to locate the ServletContextListener in weblogic 10.3.3.

    Old Struts 10.1.2 can remain as is and will work in JDev 10.1.3.

    2. CREATE SCHEMA EFASHION
    3. CREATE THE TABLES UNDER EFASHION
    4. LOAD DATA INTO TABLES
    5. GRANT SELECT ON SCHEMA EFASHION TO _SYS_REPO WITH GRANT OPTION
    Whilst activating/validating the Attribute View, face the following error:

    U have to give the range of the Project Def, for which u r doing validation. This u can define using the button "FldComp." in the prerequisite / check - screen.

  • Model update validation in between wizard-style pages before commit

    Dear All,
    We have a number of wizard-style pages (generated by JHeadstart). We navigate between pages using a <af:singlestepbuttonbar> control. We'd like to be able to validate model updates when navigating (next) from one
    page to the next, rather than having to wait till the Commit action on the last page.
    The model validations should only be performed for model updates that are relevant for the current page being navigated from.
    Any suggestions on how we can achieve this would highly be appreciated.

  • Previous button of af:singleStepButtonBar in wizard yields validation error

    Dear All,
    In one of the JHeadstart generated wizard pages, we have included a af:selectOneChoice with required=true. When we navigate back to the previous wizard page (by clicking on the Previous button generated by the
    af:singleStepButtonBar, the application correctly displays the previous page, but with an error message in the messages facet: "<fieldname> - Selection required".
    This is clearly not the intended behaviour.
    When we navigate back to a previous wizard page, no input or model validations should be executed and no messages should be displayed, only when navigating to the next page.
    Any ideas on how we can achieve this, would be highly appreciated.

  • Using Tabs in Generated Pages - Validation Issue

    Hi,
    We're using JHS 10.1.3.0.97 and are using the "stacked" regions functionality
    to make the form less cluttered.
    The problem we're having now is that whenever a user wants to
    view the items on a tab (that is not currently the selected one),
    a validation issue is thrown saying that all the mandatory fields need to be entered first.
    Is there a way to avoid this message and postpone the validation until the
    user clicks on the "Save" button?

    I am sorry, in the 10.1.3.1 release we switch off server-side model validation on a partial page request.
    It is not possible to switch off the client-side validation, because the only way to do this, is by setting immediate=true on the tabs. However, with this setting JSF will skip the Model Update phase, which means that any changes you made to the tab region you are going to leave by clicking another tab, would be lost.
    The only alternative is by creatign a custom templates and generating the required items with showRequired="true" instead of required="true" which means required items are never checked client-side.

  • Localized Data Model Message Bundle

    When you use the Validations in the Entity Objects of a data model and you place text for the text, errors, etc...it creates a MsgBundle for that class. Then for other languages you can create additional message bundle (e.g. MsgBundle_it, for italian) files for additional languages.
    My question is how does the data model layer find the locale for the user? So when it issues a data model validation error, how does it know to use the italian version instead of the default, english one?
    Also, I should add that I don't have access to the FacesContext and my Data Model project cannot be dependant on the ViewController object. So I cannot get the locale in the same fashion that I'm doing for my applications (i.e. get translated text for adf faces messages).

    the system behavior is correct. The account in company code consists of three entity types:
    1) COA - Chart of Accounts (Type 3)
    2) ACCOUNT - Account (A-Segment, related to ECC table SKA1, Type 1)
    3) ACCCCDET - Account in Company Code (B-Segment, releated to ECC table SKB1, Type 1).
    3) includes 1) and 2) whereas 2) includes 1). If you grant authorization only for 3) but not for 1) and 2), you cannot do anything.

  • How to avoid validation while navigating to the next train station..11g u2

    Hi,
    I have a case where I use the same view object across the train stations while entering the data.
    My problem is, when I click the Next button it gives an error saying that I am missing some of the mandatory fields that are exposed in the coming screens.
    To make it more clear..
    Say that I have an employee vo having (*id , name, surname, department, salary ..)
    I create a train taskflow and create two page fragments one for entering id, name, surname and the second one is for department and salary.
    When I try to navigate to the next train station after entering fields in the first one I get an error saying that "salary is missing" .
    What should I do to postpone the model validation until I commit something?

  • Error occurs when loading transaction data from other model

    Hello Experts, I am trying to validate my transformation file and I can see peculiar behaviour of the transformation file. Even though the transformation file is not complete/  complete with all the mappings, i am getting the same error as above.
         I can see options, mapping and conversion sections are validating successfully and throwing the above error.

  • Service doesn't update after data model updating

    Hello, dear experts!
    I have a question.
    I created OData Service and all is OK.
    After that I have updated data model. MPC methods have been changed with my new updates. But I can't see new service metadata document, browser displays old version of it. And service works in the way like old version of data model is actual.
    I don’t understand this behavior.
    In the book “OData and SAP NetWeaver Gateway” I have read that it is not “waterfall” approach in Gateway, which means that we can make changes in all 3 service creation phases (data model definition, service implementation and service maintenance) in the order we want.
    I tried regenerate runtime objects and reactivate service, clear browser cache, but it didn’t help.
    I put external breakpoint into DEFINE method of the MPC class and send some requests to server, but debugger doesn’t open. It looks like some kind of server cache.
    I think it is incorrect behavior. What would you recommend?
