Announcement:  EJBGen 1.20 released

I have just released EJBGen 1.20 at http://beust.com/cedric/ejbgen
New features: support for local interfaces and data transfer objects.
Also, there is now a discussion mailing-list, details can be found at
http://beust.com/cedric/ejbgen#mailing-list.
Cedric

Flashed the BIOS from 1.10 to 1.20 last night and changed the memory timings to CAS: 2-3-3-6 (i.e. CL .0) and decided to run Core Center's auto overclocking FSB feature. After 220FSB the monitor went to black but I was happy with it. Went and decided to play NBA Live 2004 at FSB 215 and at first it gave me a blank blue screen so I rebooted. Did the same thing and all went well. Hmm. . .good news, eh.
As the night progressed I just got comfortable and decided everything was going well and so I decided to run Memtest86 over night. I did select the "Extended Test" but when I returned in the morning I it read, "Test = Std." Not sure why but I know that I ran the tests successfully and here are the results:
RAM: 200MHz (DDR400)
CAS: 2-3-3-6
Wall Time: 8hr30min
Cached: 1024m
RSVDMem: 104k
MemMap: e820-Std
Cache: off
ECC: off
Test: Std
Pass: 26
Errors: 0
ECC Errors: 0
The Prime95 test were not so conclusive and as a matter of fact I have been getting hardware failures and then when I attempt to reboot I get BSOD. The BSOD (0x0000004, 0x0000008, PFN_LIST_CORRUPT) all point to the memory issues. So, I have reset the timings to CAS: 2.5-3-3-6 and re-run Prime95 Torture Tests and so far so good for the past 1/2 hour. Stay tuned. . .
Update: Read from the site where I purchased the memory and I found that with 2 modules/DIMMs installed the timings must change, according to the verified test qualifications:
Latency: 2-3-3-T1 (one module installed)
Latency: 2.5-3-3-T2 (two modules installed)
So, it died and I got the rounding error. . .stayed up longer this time but even with the relaxed settings it failed which is what happened with BIOS 1.10. Not ready to give a complete verdict but so far it doesn't look successful.

It seems I forgot to specify the following pluginRepository at the root pom.xml:
    <pluginRepositories>
    <pluginRepository>
    <id>maven2-repository.dev.java.net</id>
    <name>Java.net Maven 2 Repository</name>

Also I added dependence for jdk-1.5
    <dependency>
    <groupId>javax.jws</groupId>
    <artifactId>jsr181-api</artifactId>
    <version>1.0-MR1</version>
    </dependency>
So generation and compilation work now.

Please give the new Clipboard a try and let us know what you think!
    ====================================================================================
    interMedia Clipboard V2.0 README
    ====================================================================================
Welcome to Oracle interMedia Clipboard Version 2.0. This provides
a servlet and an Apache extension to mod_dav to manage interMedia
    content living in Oracle databases.
With this kit one can build a customized and integrated content solution
    that supports the following:
o A Clipboard servlet interface for uploading and downloading content from
a user's schema in an Oracle database using Apache JServ.
o Native HTTP access to interMedia content via Apache.
o Native Apache support to lock, edit, read, and write interMedia
    content via WebDAV protocol.
o Annotation engine for doing transparent metadata extraction
of audio, video, or image content downloaded via the Servlet
    or WebDAV.
o Mapping of content from arbitrary tables containing either LOBS,
or interMedia objects for access by the Clipboard or by
WebDAV clients such as Microsoft's WebFolders.
With an installation you will be able to drag and drop a website
of static content into an Oracle schema you own. You will also be able
to serve the website out of Oracle and edit it using either the
Clipboard servlet or standard WebDAV clients (e.g. WebFolders).
You can also use the Clipboard to manage arbitrary URL hierarchies
of content, not just websites. You will also be able to direct HTTP
traffic to interMedia objects living in tables and schemas that have
been already populated by other applications.
See INSTALL in the top level directory of this kit for full
    installation instructions and software requirements.
This kit has the following software requirements:
    o Apache (1.3.11 or 1.3.12 or 1.3.14)
    o mod_dav (1.0.2-1.3.6)
    o Apache JServ 1.1.2
    o Oracle 8.1.6 Client
o Oracle Client access to an 8.1.6 or higher database
Documentation and release notes are posted at our download site:
    http://technet.oracle.com/software/products/intermedia/software_index.htm

    and to do troubleshooting.
Support is available via the interMedia Support email address:
    [email protected]
Please specify "interMedia Clipboard V2.0" in the subject line.

    Minol,
Yes, the oracle services are running, but I still get this error message.
    Thanks.....

  • Announcement: Oracle Drive Preview Release available

    Hello Portal Community,
we are pleased to announce the availibility of the Oracle Drive Preview Release on OTN. You can find all information as well as an Install/Config Technote and a Demonstration Viewlet on Poratal Center.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/content_management_10gr2.html
Oracle Drive is a powerful WebDAV client that allows Portal content management and publishing directly from your Windows Desktop:
    Key Highlights:
    - Mount the Portal Repository as a Windows Drive
    - Get Portal specific menu options to set properties, ACL information, preview content and pages, etc
    - Access the Portal repository with a command line utility
    - Search from your Windows Explorer
    - Perform Virus check on the Portal Repository
    - Work with offline content and synchronize when online
    - Edit content with any available Editor
    regards,
    Christian Hauser
    Portal Product Management

    Thanks for your quick reply.
As to further details on the .MSI and install stuff:
MSI is the standard installation packaging method natively supported by Windows, and can use native Windows tools to manage what gets installed, and the specific installation options. In this case, options mught include default connections, synchronization options, etc. To deploy this to a large group of users, it wouldn't be practical to have them each install the program manually, and have to do the first-time setup manually (selecting server URL, etc).
Also, since these options may change over time, it's good to have a way to push those changes down from a central administrative point. If the config options are all stored in the registry (?) then the Windows Group Policy tool can send these registry settings to the client when they need to change. If Oracle provided a template for the relevant registry settings, it would make it easier than manually poking aroound the registry to see which keys do what.
Lastly, if there was a command-line interface (like "odrive map <drive letter> <service>\<share>" then this could be put into login scripts, to map relevant drives by department or other rules.

  • Announcement : New SPS Patch Release (v 6.0.3) Now Available

A newer release of Service Provisioning System (version 6.0.3) is now available for download on sunsolve
The Release Notes for this release are available here and is a good place to start.
    {color:#0000ff}*You are strongly encouraged to go through the Release Notes AND the README instructions of all the patches thoroughly before starting your patch installations.*{color}
The following are the key changes that were incorporated in this release.
    1) A fix in the SPS transport layer code was implemented to provide performance optimization of deployment jobs over a raw, SSH or SSL connection. Specifically, customers using an SSL connection between MS and the RA/LD nodes can observe noticeable performance improvements while deploying large payloads.
    2) A fix was also added to correct the default database encoding for customers who want to use extended ASCII character sets. This would not only facilitate clean database migration between 5.2 to 6.0 of any UTF-8 characters, but also ensure data integrity on fresh 6.0 installation. It's strongly recommended that customers take necessary steps to apply this fix on their SPS 6.0 installations.
    3) Certain GUI related      bugs were fixed and some missing functionality was added back.
    4) It is to be noted that this is a cumulative patch on top of the earlier patch release version 6.0.2. Hence all the bug fixes that were delivered with the 6.0.2 patch are also accumulated into the 6.0.3 patch
    5) Response time of GUI login validation has been improved.

another option would be to make either the n1sps export not writing explicit end tags
    <element />
    instead of
    <element></element>
    or
making the import / schema a bit less sensitive about whitespace within elements. The current bug, that you cannot export the xml, reformat in netBeans and then re-import is extremely annoying.

  • Announcement Oracle9iAS Portal Patch Release 3.0.9.8.3 For Solaris is now available

Oracle9iAS Portal Patch Release 3.0.9.8.3 For Solaris is now available for download from metalink. Bugnumber for the patch release is 2131815.
You must install this patch release over an Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.2 installation of Oracle9iAS Portal. You can install it over either a production installation (3.0.9.8.0) or a patched installation (3.0.9.8.1, 3.0.9.8.2). This patch release is cumulative and it incorporates the changes from the earlier patches (3.0.9.8.1, 3.0.9.8.2). The installation instructions are in README.TXT and RELNOTES.HTM contained in the patch release.
The patch will be available for other platforms by the end of May.

I saw this warning in the content area API home page.
Warning - The Content Area APIs available in 3.0.8.x and 3.0.9.x will not work with Oracle9iAS Portal 9.0.2. They are not available with this release
    Will there be other API's?
Are you removing the concept of loading an item through APIs?
    Thanks in advance

  • EJBGen 1.21 released

EJBGen is an EJB 2.0 code generator based on Javadoc.
This new version has a bunch of enhancements, all documented at
    http://beust.com/cedric/ejbgen
    In a nutshell:
    1.21
    - Changed @cmr-field syntax: no arguments needed
    - Added bands example
    - Bug: bad code generation for local methods that throw exceptions
    - Bug: ejbCreateFoo() only generated create() on home interfaces
    - Added naming convention options
    - Deprecated @jndi-name, added @remote-jndi-name and @local-jndi-name
    - Made -pfd2 the default, added -pfd1 option
    - Added @reentrant
    - Added @trans-timeout-seconds
    - Added @transaction-attribute
    - Added @resource-ref
    - Removed @ejb-entity-ref
    - Supports all four tags for method-intf (new in pfd3)
    - Deprecated @business-method, replaced with @remote-method
    - Bug: no generation of transaction for local methods
    - Bug: no generation of isolation level for @remote-home-method
    - Added support for cascade-delete in the @relation tag
Most of these features have been debated on the mailing-list these past
weeks, feel free to check out the archives if you need more information
    about them: http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/ejbgen
    Cedric

They assumed because of how Apple puts in the next *check for updates* date in iTunes. They assumed the new version would come out that day. Though each time a date gets hit after an update, they have always changed the date to another future date at least once.
Also who knows if it is going to be 1.1.3 or 1.2.1 anyhow since nobdy but Apple knows. Sites calling it 1.1.3 just shows they don't know for sure because the version depends on what is being done...fixes or new features (which nobody but Apple will know).

  • Announcing EJBGen 2.13

EJBGen 2.13 is now available at http://beust.com/ejbgen
Here are the changes since version 2.12 (most of them are support for
features that were introduced in WLS 8.1 beta):
    2.13
    - Fixed: wasn't handling options and variables homogeneously
    - Added: EJBGen will complain if the same file is generated twice
    - Fixed: cmr fields were not incorporated in groups
    - Added: more attributes to @ejbgen:file-generation to name files
    explicitly
    - Added: verify-rows
    - Added: lock-order
    - Added: enable-batch-operations, order-database-operations
    - Added: allow-remove-during-transaction
    - Added: disable-warning
    - Added: clients-on-same-server
    - Fixed: accept both create-(r)dbms-tables
    - Added: default-dbms-tables-ddl

  • ANNOUNCE: Visual J2EE Development Environment Released

Roaming Media announces a public beta release of Roaming Studio 1.0.
Roaming Studio is a comprehensive software development environment that
fully supports pattern-driven design, assembly and deployment of Java™ 2
Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE™) applications. It simplifies and
accelerates the delivery of these enterprise applications by providing
visual representations of components and assemblies. It takes care of
the dirty work by generating and maintaining source code while you
concentrate on architectural and business level details.
At the same time, Roaming Studio allows you to work at the source code
level if you wish. Its unique IntelliSynch technology watches you as you
work and provides real-time synchronization with the visual
    representations.
Roaming Studio is also one of the first development tools to support the
development and realization of software patterns. This powerful feature
allows architects to create reusable designs that define objects and
their interactions. These designs may then be used to automate the
creation of J2EE components and application assemblies. The current
support for patterns in Roaming Studio is the beginning of a
revolutionary new way of creating applications via automated
    pattern-driven development and reusable components.
Roaming Studio integrates with popular IDEs and supports any
    J2EE-compliant application server.
You can download Roaming Studio at:
    http://www.roamingmedia.com/roamingstudio.htm
The final release is scheduled for October 2001.

    hi
Thankyou for the reply , i fixed it by replacing the old myfaces.jar and myfaces-extensions.jar (from myfaces1.0.7 version) with new myfaces-all.jar (myfaces1.1.1 version), now everything works except the tree build with the old version. I see an error with org.apache.myfaces.custom.tree2.TreeModel customerTreeModel =  new  TreeModel(treeData); by Cannot instantiate the type TreeModel, since it is not a concrete class.
anyhow i am looking into the example provided by myfaces team, hope i will find soon...
    Cheers..

  • New major release, JE 5.0, is available

    Hi all,
We're pleased to announce a new major release, JE 5.0.34. The release contains a significant number of new features and performance enhancements. Complete information can be found in the JE documentation, specifically in the change log. The release is available via the download site or Maven.
Below is a copy of the major enhancements listed in the release notes. See the change log for a complete list.
<li> The new DiskOrderedCursor class can be used to iterate over all records in a database, for increased performance when transactional guarantees are not required. [#15260]
<li> A new Environment.preload method can be used to preload multiple databases at a time, for increased performance compared to preloading each database individually. [#18153]
<li> The JE environment can now be spread across multiple subdirectories to take advantage of multiple disks or file systems. [#19125]
<li> The new AppStateMonitor class lets the HA application add more application specific information to the notion of node state in a replication group. [#18046]
<li> New options have been added for changing the host of a JE replication node, and for moving a JE replication group. See the Utilities section of the change log.
<li> Replicated nodes can now be opened in UNKNOWN state, to support read only operations in a replicated system when a master is not available. [#19338]
<li> New Cursor methods were added to allow quickly skipping over a specified number of key/value pairs. [#19165]
<li> A per-Environment ClassLoader may now be configured and will be used by JE for loading all user-supplied classes. [#18368]
<li> The java.io.Closeable interface is now implemented by all JE classes and interfaces with a public void close() method. This allows using these objects with the Java 1.7 try-with-resources statement. [#20559]
<li> The Environment.flushLog method has been added. It can be used to make durable, by writing to the log, all preceding non-transactional write operations, without performing a checkpoint. [#19111]
<li> Performance of record update and deletion operations has been significantly improved when the record is not in the JE cache and the application does not need to read the record prior to performing the update or deletion. [#18633]
<li> An internal format change was made for databases with duplicate keys that improves operation performance, reduces memory and disk overhead, and increases concurrency. [#19165]
<li> An improvement has been made that requires significantly less writing per checkpoint, less writing during eviction, and less metadata overhead in the JE on-disk log files. [#19671]
<li> Improved DbCacheSize utility to take into account memory management enhancements and improve accuracy. Added support for key prefixing, databases configured for sorted duplicates, and replicated environments. [#20145]
<li> EnvironmentConfig.TREE_COMPACT_MAX_KEY_LENGTH was added for user configuration of the in-memory compaction of keys in the Btree. [#20120]
    -- The JE Team

The format change is for BDB Java Edition 5.0 only, and does not apply to other BDB products. It's forward compatible, which means that a BDB JE application using JE 5.0 can use environments written with older versions of JE. However, it's not backwards compatible; once your environment has been opened by JE 5.0, it's been converted to the new format, and can no longer be readable by older versions of JE.
Just for the benefit of others who may not have read the changelog, here's the full text:
JE 5.0.34 has moved to on-disk file format 8.
The change is forward compatible in that JE files created with release 4.1 and earlier can be read when opened with JE 5.0.34. The change is not backward compatible in that files created with JE 5.0 cannot be read by earlier releases. Note that if an existing environment is opened read/write, a new log file is written by JE 5.0 and the environment can no longer be read by earlier releases.
There are two important notes about the file format change.
The file format change enabled significant improvements in the operation performance, memory and disk footprint, and concurrency of databases with duplicate keys. Environments which contain databases with duplicate keys must run an upgrade utility before opening an environment with this release. See the Performance section for more information.
An application which uses JE replication may not upgrade directly from JE 4.0 to JE 5.0. Instead, the upgrade must be done from JE 4.0 to JE 4.1 and then to JE 5.0. Applications already at JE 4.1 are not affected. Upgrade guidance can be found in the new chapter, "Upgrading a JE Replication Group", in the "Getting Started with BDB JE High Availability" guide.I may not have fully understood your question, so let us know if that doesn't answer it.

  • UMS Portlet (Beta Release) available for download

    What are we announcing?
The beta release of the Unified Messaging Service (UMS) portlet is available for download on Portal Studio from Integration Solutions page. The UMS Portlet makes available to Oracle9iAS Portal users the abilities to send SMS messages, Emails, Voice notifications, Fax and WAP Push messages on a single web interface. These messaging capabilities are provided by the Oracle Notification Service (ONS, formerly the Push Service). By hosting this portlet, you automatically get a free trial account with the ONS service. Please send your comments, suggestions, and evaluations of this beta release on this discussion forum.
    How can I use it?
The Oracle Notification Service (formerly known as Push Service) is an Oracle online service that allows Oracle9i Application Server Wireless and Oracle9iAS Portal users to send SMS messages, Emails, Voice notifications, Fax and WAP Push messages in an easy to access manner without installing any new software. The Oracle Notification Service is hosted at Oracle's data centers and is managed and maintained 24x7 by highly skilled staff. Users connect to it as a Web Service using an XML SOAP API over HTTP/HTTPS. The UMS portlet abstracts this communication and multiprotocol, multidevice complexities for the Oracle9iAS Portal users.
An Oracle9iAS Portal user can sign up for this service and pay per usage. The user of this portlet would need to register and get an account with Oracle9iAS Wireless Service. However, to encourage the use of this service, a trial account of 500 units per IP address has been permitted. For purchasing more units and know more about the pricing mechanism, you can send an e-mail to [email protected]
More information on Oracle9iAS Wireless and Oracle Notification Service is available at http://otn.oracle.com/products/iaswe/content.html
Currently, this portlet allows sending SMS, Voice Mails, E-mails, Fax and WAP Push Messages. Future extensions will include support for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS).
Using this portlet, a portal user can send the same message as an SMS to people who have mobile phones, as an Email to those who would be at office, as a Voice mail to an employee who is at home and doesn't have access to Emails or mobile phones. For example, this portlet can be used in a hospital web site where the staff can send instant requests to the doctors or can be used in a financial portal which informs users about the changes in his/her stock prices on the device they wish.
    How do I get it?
This portlet is available through the Portal Integration Solutions page (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=3189&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO) on Portal Studio. You can download this portlet from the Download Integration Portlets page (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=3191&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO). You would be asked to enter your OTN user details to download the portlet.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Abhinav
