  • Is a locally hosted data catalog possible?

We have a pretty robust locally hosted SharePoint solution. We are currently working on an upgrade to SharePoint 2013 with integrated 2012 SQL Server Reporting Services with Powerview/Powerpivot.  This is to create a local instance similar
to the Power BI option in the cloud.  My question is specific to Power Query in this scenario.  In the above scenario, can the Corporate Data Catalog used in Power Query be hosted locally, perhaps in the Business Data Catalog SharePoint
    has?

    Thanks for your reply Gil.
I have evaluated Power BI and the Data Catalog, both public and corporate. Great tools that we pretty much will replicate with the Excel Power stack and integrated SSSRS/SharePoint with the required service applications configured and turned on.  I
work at a college and so much of our data is subject to federal/state laws like FERPA and institutional security policies revolving around PII.  Even aggregating the data to the level of losing PII does not mitigate some of the legal and policy related
roadblocks of posting data in the cloud.  So, we are looking at have a Power BI like solution on-prem.  I just wanted to leverage the corporate section of the Power Query's data catalog by having it point to an on-prem source.

  • MS Business Data Catalog - SAP WebService

    Hi all,
i have created a web service from a function module.
Now i want to implement my web service to sharepoint with the business data catalog.
First i have to create an application definition file with the bdc definition editor.
Is there anybody who has a running example how i can implement a web service to sharepoint via bdc?
MS forums are not very helpful!!
    regards

You can download the SharePoint Server 2007 SDK: Software Development Kit (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6d94e307-67d9-41ac-b2d6-0074d6286fa9&displaylang=en) which has a sample.
I have not tried the sample myself however it may help you out.

  • Is the Azure Files data highly available/replicated under the covers?

    I am assuming that with Azure Files, under the covers data is replicated multiple times for High Availability.  Is that correct?  For some applications, typically failover application, where the application doesn't assume highly available storage;
the applications themselves build logic to either replicate/sync data.  An example is Elastic Search.  In these cases, the system lands up making too many copies.  Is the Azure File Semantic the same as blob store, in this regard.

    Hi,
Would request you to refer to the article below to understand Azure File Service (in preview now):

  • How to check the expired date of a public key stored in my keyStore

    Hello,
I would like to know if there is any possibility to check the expiration date of a public key which is present in my keystore.
I did read the help of keytool but did not found any explanation about that.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Public key doesn't have an expiration date. Certificate has. Run keytool -list -v and you can read something looks like:
    Valid from: ... until: ...

  • Trouble running "Universal Windows app that consumes data from the Azure Marketplace" sample

I am trying to run the sample titled "Universal Windows app that consumes data from the Azure Marketplace". I am not sure how to enter the credentials for the Zillow APIs.  I obtained a key from Zillow, but when I enter it per the instructions
in the sample, I still get an unauthorized (401) error.
The instructions say  Insert that key into the SampleDataSource file of your project in place of the string "Your account key goes here".
So I replaced my key in this line of code:
    request.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("<Your account key goes here>",
                                        "<Your account key goes here>");
    Am I missing something else?

    Hi isgimaryann,
I would suggest you ask question at:
https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/Universal-app-that-d7406c5b/view/Discussions#content to see if the owner of the sample will give you some suggestions.

  • Hide Field with no Data at the SRM MDM Catalog

    Dear Experts,
I am uploading many files with items and connect them to a unique search name.
Aot of all, Jest few supplier items are contain a certain field.
How can I set the system to hide the field at the Catalog, if it displays supplier items that has no data at this field?
    Thanks,
    Yaron.

    Dear Masa,
    Thank you for your response.
We are using SRM MDM 3.0 SP05 Patch 2 with SRM server 550 SP12.
I am talking about the screen that the user see when he connects to the Catalog to add items to the Shopping cart/PO/Contract.
I can add/remove fields at the UI seting, but i can't find where I can set the option to hide the field if there are no data in it (at the all supplier catalog). this is how it works at the CCM Catalog....
    Thanks & Regards,
    Yaron.

why do I have to disable the cellurlar data to connect to Optimum or xfinity public wifi?

you are pretty quick at responding and that is excellent.
MY issue is: when I log on to Optimum or Xfinity public wifi and I dont change the Cellular Data (settings), it says that there is an error loading the page and it wont let me put in the login information. My wifi works fine at home without having to configure or touch the cellular data.

Welcome to the forum! This forum is for support of our customers who are using API Apps. Feel free to post any questions you have related to API Apps.

    Hey Mikael!
I actually was struggling through pretty much the same things at the same time that you were.
The EventTriggered extension is actually in the Microsoft.Azure.AppService.ApiApps.Service namespace, so without a using directive for that it will not be happy.
I created a library to help with the metadata generation required for Triggers, and did a write-up on exactly what it takes to create both a polling and push trigger (with a few more samples) here: https://github.com/nihaue/TRex#building-a-polling-trigger-api-app
    Hopefully having that combined with
    the official docs, and also
Sameer's sample can get you on the right track.
    Hope that helps!

  • Contained Database Users are now available in Azure SQL Database Update preview

Contained Database Users should be of particular help for people migrating to Azure SQL Database. At the moment, this is a preview release but you can start testing. Here is the announcement of the
preview with links to more information.
New SQL Database public preview with new Standard-tier performance level
Previously announced in November 2014 and now available for customers to try, the
    new
public preview of SQL Database improves the compatibility of SQL Server applications for Azure SQL Database. Details of this preview are available on the
    SQL
Database documentation webpage, including the following key enhancements: easier management of large databases to support heavier workloads with parallel queries
and online indexing, support for programmability functions like CLR and XML index to support more robust application design, improved monitoring and troubleshooting with XEvents and 100 new Dynamic Management Views (DMV), and more performance in the Premium
    tier.
To try this preview, please sign up via the Preview
features webpage. Only SQL Database servers with a mix of one or more Basic, Standard, or Premium (not Web or Business) databases are compatible and eligible to
upgrade to the preview. Please note that any move of an existing Basic, Standard, or Premium database into this preview is irreversible; we recommend that you create a database copy or leverage test databases on any server enrolled in this preview.
A new Standard-tier performance level, S3, is also available in this preview which gives you more pricing flexibility between Standard and Premium. S3 will deliver 100 Database Throughput Units (DTU) and all the features available in the Standard tier. Please
note that S3 will appear on your bill as a multiple of S2 until further notice.
For more information, please visit the SQL
    Database webpage and the
    Microsoft
Azure Blog. For a comprehensive look at pricing, please visit the
    SQL
    Database pricing webpage.

  • EKM using the Azure Key Vault is now available for SQL Database and SQL Server running in Azure VM's

In preview today, you can create keys in the Azure Key Vault, and use them with Azure SQL Database, or SQL Server running in a Azure VM. Use the Extensible Key Management (EKM) for TDE, backup encryption, or cell level encryption. For more information, see
Extensible Key Management Using Azure Key Vault (SQL Server)
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn198405.aspx.
    The announcement:
Azure Key Vault in public preview
Key Vault offers an easy, cost-effective way to safeguard keys and other sensitive data used by cloud applications and services. Included are the following features:
    Enhance data protection and compliance:
Protect cryptographic keys and sensitive data   like passwords with keys stored in Hardware Security Modules (HSMs). For   added assurance, import or generate your keys in HSMs certified to FIPS 140-2   level 2 and Common Criteria EAL4 standards,
so that keys stay within the HSM   boundary. Key Vault is designed so that Microsoft doesn’t see or extract your   keys.
All the control, none of the work:
Provision new vaults and keys in minutes   and centrally manage keys, sensitive data, and policies. You maintain control   over your encrypted data—simply grant permission for your own and third-party   applications to use keys as needed. Enable
developers to easily manage keys   used for dev/test and migrate seamlessly to production keys managed by   security operations.
Boost performance and achieve global scale: Improve
performance and reduce latency of   cloud applications by storing cryptographic keys in the cloud (versus   on-premises). Key Vault rapidly scales to meet the cryptographic needs of   your cloud applications and match peak demand.
Get started with Azure Key Vault by creating keys for applications you develop,
SQL Server encryption (TDE, CLE, and Backup), and partner solutions like
    CloudLink SecureVM.
Key Vault is available now at no charge with discounted preview pricing starting on January 15, 2015.
For more information, please visit the
Key Vault webpage. For a comprehensive look at pricing, please visit the
    Key Vault Pricing webpage.

  • Lightroom data base files previews

I wish to be able to Remove these Lightroom 5  Data Base Preview Files that NOW show up in my libraries pictures( June 2014 ) daily folder and also the Root Thumbnail icon that is showing.
Please note all my other photos imputed from my picture library and SDHC memory  card before June 2014 does NOT have these files and it seems every time I input a photo from my memory card I get another 2 icons  saying this is LRPREV FILE (no image other than a box with text) with the modified date. shows up  when I select my Pictures in Windows
CAN YOU PLEASE SHOW ME HOW TO STOP THESE FILES BEING IMPUTED INTO LIGHTROOM 5.
There must be a key I can press...Thank you. David
Also I did try to delete these files in the Lightroom Folder in Windows but when I input new photos in Lightroom they KEEP coming back every time.

I feel like there may be something you're not telling us, which would explain how it came to be this way in the first place (yours is a very unusual problem).
I've heard confession is good for the soul. If you have a confession, now's the time..
For example: you have some kind of auto-import running. Or, you are storing your photos in the same folder as your catalog...
If you've got no such confession to offer, then please post a screenshot of your catalog folder (in Explorer/Finder) Windows did ya say? Mac?? Lightroom 5._? (fill in the blank)
Also, a screenshot of your folders pane in Lightroom.
And, a description of the import procedure you follow: what you do, what you see, what you click...
(+any other info that might aid trouble-shooting..).
