I'm soooo flippin annoyed! I changed my password on my iPhone as I knew someone had watched me type it in and now I cannot get access into my phone. I'm not stupid enough to forget it but alas.. I CANNOT get into the phone and it is disabled.
...anyhow...I have been trying for TWO days to back up and restore my phone via the iTunes and it keeps crashing "not responding".. It is unbelievable..
I'm royally annoyed and peed off and CANNOT understand how this could happen to such a "high-tech" expensive phone!...

Are you trying to restore using http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808? that is the only way to get the password off the iphone if you don't know it and hopefully you have a backup that was created before http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275

Help! My main content has moved outside of my page and ruined every other page in the site....

I am new at using dw and building sites and now I came accross a problem that I can't figure out. I was going to add new content to one of my pages in my site and this happened above. I quickly exited before saving and when I reopened the file it remained in the same place. Now along with this page being like this, the rest of my site was affected in the same manner. I feel you are probably correct but personally I don't like reponsive design. Having said that I see Murray has made a splendid job at a pretty complex and big site he has produced recently. I don't see him around here to often any longer because I wanted to ask him what sort of a nightmare it was to manage, or not.

Checking For OS Updates ... My New Hobby

Maybe it's just me, but since getting the Z10 and dealing with countless issues including a replacement Z10, my new hobby it seems it to check for an OS update at least twice a day.
Never have I done this on any other OS ( Android or iOS) ... but I was never this frustrated with a new device either.
Anyone else participating in this new past time hobby?

So many annoying litle bits.
- No indication on the screen if the sound is off
- VPN L2TP or PPTP are not supported, It was so easy to set up on my Iphone 5, Mac and Ipad, as well as Windows 8
who wants to pay $20 a months for an VPN vendor that support the Blackberry?
- Blackberry link on the Mac is a piece of Sh..., it does not sync, back-up, or connect to Iphotos, it connects to Itunes but wont copy files over
Ical (calendar) from Icloud does not work, sync, had to use Outlook.
- Cannot get the sound back unless you restart the Z10
- and on and on....
Sorry for the rant, just spent two very frudtrating days

Me again. Disconnecting as usual, nothings changed...

Me again, you might remember me from my earlier posts. I have pretty much lost hope of ever having a stable connection while at this residence. (And I feel sorry for whoever moves in here, if they do not know either). I do still get annoyed a bit when it disconnects a lot, but I've really got quite used to it. I've found a couple songs on iTunes that basically match up to the length of time that it takes to reconnect, so they've got quite a playcount.
The number of disconnections I have had has gone up and down over the past few months. In the last few weeks for example it has been quite low, however in the past few days it has become pretty much unbearable again. I've had at least 30 in about 3 hours, and as I was trying to play an online game with friends, this was pretty much impossible for me to do. I can probably accurately blame it on the weather (snowing badly on and off) for this wave of badness, but who knows for sure.
I have seen recently a lot of activity at the 'box' at the end of the road, with many Openzone vans turning up and leaving at the end of the day. But nothing ever comes of it, obviously. I don't know what they are doing (whether it is to do with my connection or not).
It's quite an interesting yet annoying situation I am in, as it appears that it's the wiring in my residence and not anything that BT can do anything about without relaying the cost back to myself. When I see on the TV how BT and Virgin are unveiling 'super-fast fibre optic technology' I just chuckle to myself (seeing as my exchange wont be getting it until at least next year, if not the year after. I'll hopefully be gone by then). Seems that they can afford to invest millions into rolling out fast speeds all over the country (just not my part, hehe) but wont pucker up the ~£150 it would probably cost to solve my problem. Life goes on, eh?
Don't really know why I'm posting this, just thought I would. You'd be surprised how funny my situation can be when you have people round, hoggin your broadband, and then it just cuts out. "Oh, whats happened? Internet connection's gone?" First world problems hehe.
I'll post stats and all that if you really want me to. I have the OLD master socket thing, so no test socket. Made that discovery to my annoyance. BT Homehub 2.0 Software version 8.1.H.U (Type A). No BT Phone active. Don't know if BTFON or whatever it is called is active (that thing that uses your connection for all BT customers blah).
EDIT: I've talked many times with the mods and other BT people, and they never seem to find a fault with their part. Which is why the theory of it being my home wiring is probably correct.

WINE abnormally slow when playing Starcraft

I used to have a 1.6Ghz computer with 512MiB of RAM. It ran Starcraft just fine in WINE, full speed and everything. So, like any normal person would I upgraded this box as soon as I could. I now have a 2.3Ghz quad-core with 2GiB of RAM. Big improvement, right? Well, I get about 3-5 FPS in Starcraft. I've tried running Starcraft.exe in compatibility modes for XP and '98. I've tried googling for literally hours and I can't find any solutions.
So does anyone have any ideas? The weirdest thing is that I can run Spore full speed and play it in full screen; I can play Black & White on high detail at a pretty big resolution. Why can't I play Starcraft, I should be able to run 18 instances of Starcraft at once?
I just want my Starcraft back!

Ok guys I think I have complete solution for playing starcraft on linux arch (but can be applied on any distro in general) with wine and being able to connect to battle net. I will assume that you have properly set your graphic card drivers which is crucial thing. Nvidia is preferable brand for linux gaming in my opinion and experience.
1. Download wine tarball from aur repository and install it using makepkg -s and then sudo pacman -U "package name". It is for 686 architecture. This patched version of wine will allow you to play on battle net. It was optimized for warcraft 3 but it works for starcraft as well (both blizzard games ) )

In this step we made starcraft playable on internet .
2. In this step we will optimize starcraft to run without glitches, lag or mouse delay under wine. After you make some wine regedit modifications, starcraft should be able to run smoothly. You should do next:
a) in terminal type: wine regedit
b) position yourself to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/Direct3D
c) in Direct3D add the following String Values (right click/New/String Value) or in menu (Edit/New/String Value):
I DirectDrawRenderer (value data: opengl)
II OffScreenRenderingMode (value data: fbo)
III RenderTargetLockMode (value data: readtex)
IV VideoMemorySize (value data: put your graphic card video memory size) p.s. For example mine is 256
Ok, those were registry tweaks concerning starcraft performance. Lets go to the next step, step 3.
3. Lets make some changes in winecfg. In terminal type winecfg. In applications window go add application and point to your starcraft.exe file. Mine is (/home/marko/Starcraft/StarCraft.exe) . Then mark Starcraft.exe and go to graphics tab and uncheck allow window manager to decorate the windows. The rest of settings leave as they were by default.
4. In my experience, after adding those registry modifications and changes in winecfg I had some problems starting starcraft properly. I got distorted screen and couldn't see starcrat menu properly. I am using xfce4 and I figured out that after changing my window manager from xfwm4 to metacity, using compiz fusion icon, I had no problems. So, my suggestion for you is to use metacity window manager while playing starcraft. sudo pacman -S metacity
5. The last thing I had to change is the keybinding for metacity. When I started playing starcraft whenever I clicked combo: right mouse click+ alt I got fast menu activated. Pretty annoying xD. If you have in mind that metacity is deafult window manager for gnome, logical conclusion would be that it can be changed in gnome-control-center:
Go sudo pacman -S gnome-control-center
After it installs in terminal type gnome-control-center and go to windows option. In windows option change Movement Key option from Alt to Meta.
After all those steps I had perfectly playable starcraft under wine with opportunity to connect on battle net and play some games. Starcraft was performing faster than in windows in my case . The only thing I wasn't been able to fix is black screen in battle net lobby which is not that big of a deal but still annoying a bit. You can still see where to click and how to login and thats what matters the most.

Removing the sound of flem in vocal recording

I doubt its possible to remove the sound of flem from a vocal recording, but has anyone attempted it?
One approach might be to use a spectrum analyzer to try to determine which frequencies are in the flem and try to filter them out. Or another approach might be to use a formant analyzer/generator/filter to "purify" the vowels where the flem is occuring. But I don't think Logic has these tools.
Any suggestions? Plugins?

Really simple to get rid of the flem sound. Simply play your sound in a loop. play with a graphic eq untill you find where the annoying 'flemmy' bits are.
then simply compress those particular frequencies (try to be tight), and give it a hard compression - so to start with you should hear all flem...
and then bring the level of the flem down so you don't feel it so much. You might want to put a slower attack on the compressor to make it act like a bit of a deesser - deflemmer.... I rekon my flems at about 800, 400, and 200hz or their about

I can't remember the name of that audio editor though - do you know the one I mean?

USB network dongle for wireless networking

Hi all
Just a quickie, I've just bought a mini, not wireless, thought I'd put an extreme card in it, but it's not to be, the wireless option is a rip off in the UK as a retrofit.
Has anyone managed to use a USB network wireless dongle?
I have seen a couple for sale on ebay, but I'm not sure about drivers etc?

Few things that you might like to consider from my personal experience;
First, I guess, is if you can afford an airport card then its definately the best option without any shadow of a doubt (even if you fit it yourself - The Airport i user installable on virtually everything else and is very straight forward), I have a 12in iBook G4 (800) which i got Airport extreme for and it's constantly reliable and always fast.
Second, if you plump for the USB option I run a D-link Dwl-122 wireless adapter sticking out of my Powermac G4 450x2 which has been notorious for its poor driver support in the past but with the latest driver (From MacUpdate: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15997) I have no problems running it through the front pannel USB2 slots from a PCI card (i only say this as these are also notoriously difficult in old G4s but they're now happy together). I get a good reception on this card from 3 storeys away in a very high ceilinged Georgian house.
Thirdly, my mum also runs one the same USB wireless adapters on an iMac (flat panel USB1.1 from sometime in 2003) with the no problems with the driver above. The Dwl-122 is only wireless .b though so can only get connected at up to 11mps.
Fourthly (?), if i could put Airport Extreme cards in both of those Macs i would at whatever cost because its still annoying having bits stinking out in my opinion even if you are lucky enough to get a USB adapter with no conflics with your system setup (unfortunately nether are compatable with the AEX and Airport cards now go for upwards of £70 on ebay!!)
I hope all that helped somehow, as you can probably see i've spent many an hour battling with third party drivers for external devices, well done for having the foresight to ask first!!! I wish i had!
Anyway good luck with your decision and i hope you get a few more posts here before you make up your mind...

Glitch in Menu Bar?

Hello other happy-clappy mac users
I seem to have aquired a small blue triangle which appears in the top-left of the menu bar whenever i mouse near it.
Any ideas as to what it is and how to get rid of it? It doesn't seem to affect anything - it just annoys me (bit of a perfectionist )

Open System Preferences > Accounts > The account where you see the triangle > Startup Items.
In there, do you see anything that could be associated with the triangle being generated, or something you are not familiar with?
Can you also post a link to a screenshot of your Menubar?

Hi Jorg ,
Are you trying to reduce the file size with the "Reduced size PDF" in the save as other option.
Give it a try if you haven't done it prior.
Open that PDF>File>Save as Other>Reduced size PDF.
If possible ,please share the snapshot of the error message with us so that we can have a look in order to assist you further.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

Photoshop CC won't open JPG files, Windows 7 64-bit SP1. I get no error message at all. Very annoying.

I get the SAME behavior on my laptop. This happens with Bridge also. My desktop and laptop are both Core i7 3d gen machines. I had to resort to GIMP to get some work done. I tried updating to the latest PS CC but it failed to update with error U44M1P7. Any ideas if the update will fix this and I should keep trying to get it installed?

The error message means a Photoshop File is corrupt you need to re-install Photoshop, You can do that right on top of your current install. That will back level CC to 14.0. When you the use CC ment Help>Updates it should be updated to 14.2.1 and all you add ons a r activation will still be intact. Bit annoyed with this router that just came in the mail

Yesterday I got into a support chat just to kind of see if I could get a new router, mine has given me intermittent problems for as long as I've had it (and let's face it Actiontecs aren't that great). I have a Rev. D and requested a Rev. F since it does Wireless N (and since they refuse to release Rev. G to residential customers). Everything went smoothly, he put in the order and surprisingly it got here the next morning (just now).
Unfortunately what I got in the box wasn't an Actiontec Rev. F. What I got was a Westell 9100EM15 - a router that doesn't do Wireless N. So I'm back in the same situation I was in before.
So yeah, I dunno really. I could request yet another router of the correct model, but I don't know if I trust them to actually send one.

So immediately after receiving the incorrect router I chatted with "Nehru" who assured me that he would personally see to it that I got a revision F router.
Just opened my package and what do you know, another Westell 9100EM15.
I shouldn't have to randomly get the hardware I want from some install tech.
This whole hardware situation Verizon has set up is pretty ridiculous and I refuse to go spend money on hardware that they should be providing me with my paid subscription to their service.
So I give up. In short, Verizon support can **bleep** themselves.
