Any alternative to the Time Slider ?

I am trying to import with my iMovie 09 video editor so that each thumbnail represents the first image of each "take" and lasts the number of seconds elapsed until I pressed "Standby" on my Sony Video Handycam again. In other words I would like if each thumb-nail covered the duration of the clip between each "Run" and "Standby" instruction pressed on my camera, using the very first frame as thumbnail identification.
Instead, I find that I am stuck with the time-slider which covers a precise number of seconds without reference to the duration of individual video "takes."
Can I adjust this by using "Preferences" ?
Please help.

Well, thank you for a very prompt reply.
But my problem persists. When I place the time slider to All in the Events section I get just one thumbnail covering upto 30 minutes of video-ing which had many run and standby instructions. When I do the same thing within the Project (which incidentally I am currently editing) I get a selection of thumb-nails, - some covering a single take (perhaps because I have edited that far) and some covering a series of takes. It is a very tiresome process scanning each clip in the time slider until I reach a genuine change and having to make a "split clip" edit at that point. AND then having to ensure the new clip has a representative thumbnail. My iMovie 09 is up-to-date with version 8.0.6.
Perhaps you have further suggestions.

i.e. Both of the VMs sync with Hyper-V host, instead the other host should sync with the PDC Emulator?
I run w32tm command and get the following result:

It looks like your PDC is successfully pulling time from an external source. DC8 is not longer pulling from Hyper-V so that is good.
When you set a client to pull from a source ( and in this case DC8 is pulling from NT5DS, which tells it to pull from the PDC), and it CAN'T pull from that source, it will default to Local CMOS Clock. This is likely an easy fix.
First, check connectivity:
- Method one- Download Portqry and run this command: portqry -n HPVZH05 -p both -e 123 and see if the results say listening, or
- Method two- Run this command from DC8: w32tm /stripchart /computer:HPVZH05
If you get any kind of error using method two, it's a connectivity issue. (Maybe you have a firewall that's blocking access?)
The other cause of this, and probably more likely in your case, is that your PDC isn't properly advertising as a reliable time source, so DC8 isn't 'allowed' to pull from it.
Try running this command on your PDC: w32tm /config /reliable:yes
Then go restart time on your PDC, THEN DC8 again. (net stop w32time & net start w32time)

It usually happens when i grab the time slider bar and try to move it. The apps will freeze and I have to "force quit" to get them to close. Sometimes putting the computer to sleep and waking it up helps. Is there a way to remedy this?

If I understand you correctly, go to the skin editor (Project, Skin Editor in Captivate 4), select the Playback Control tab, uncheck the Progressbar check box. Leave checked the buttons for play/pause, rewind, forward, back, etc.

Any alternative to the BADI for scaled pricing in CCM catalogs

We are not able to use the scaled pricing functionality in CCM. When the item is added to the shopping cart from the CCM catalog the highest price gets chosen by default irrespective of the quantity ordered.
I understand that this can be solved by activating the BADI /CCM/CSE_ENRICHMENT and Implementation /CCM/CSE_OCISCALEPRI
IS THERE ANY ALTERNATIVE TO THIS. CAN THIS FUNCTIONALITY OF SCALED PRICING BE ACHIEVED WITHOUT THIS BADI.

Hi Srivatsan,
you could use the BADI BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER to amend the price, in order to do this you would need to pass the lower bound to one of the OCI custom fields in order to pick up this avlue and determine the correct price.
Why do you not want to use the standard implementatiom though?

Any alternative to the now deceased Ampede LayerLink?

I need to import an illustrator file with 50 layers, that I need to animate. You've guessed it - it's a map of the United States. I have the file already in Illustrator, and I have been able to import the file into motion but it flattens the image. I guess LayerLink is out of business and there isn't a version that will work for Motion 3.
Anybody have any other suggestions? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

There's two things you could try:
1.) From Illustrator, do an "Export", from the File Menu. In the "Format" area select "Photoshop (psd)". After you click "Export" you will be presented with one more dialog box. The 2nd half of that box has an option to "Write Layers" - make sure this is selected. Choose your "ppi". Bigger's probably better, maybe? Point is, when you get to Motion, these items won't be vectors anymore, they'll be bitmapped.
Then as far as getting those layers into Motion: drag the new file from File Browser to the Canvas and hold it there. A panel will fly up, you'll see an option to "Import All Layers". That's what you'll want. Now start animating.
2.) This might be more convoluted, and thus send you flying back to option #1, but just wanted to throw it out there: If you don't own After Effects, download the trial and import this file into it. You'll want to bring it in as a "composition" - thus preserver your layers, in their respective positions. (As long as you select, "Document Size" NOT "Layer Size" when importing.) Any way, you can get more info on this elsewhere, for example, the AE help files. Now, if you're not familiar with AE this might not be the way to go because you'll end up spending some time just figuring out how the sucker works. So that could surely be a deal-breaker. However, one cool advantage of this would be that if you find yourself needing to edit the VECTOR files for any reason, you can do an "Open in Editor" - Illustrator will launch. You make your edits, come back to AE and voila - the layers are update to reflect your edits. Again, I understand that this might not be worth it and you might have stopped reading this already to head back up to option #1. There are obvious drawbacks to this technique!

Infinity cabinet gone in - Any ideas of the time '...

Hey there.
I've been actively awaiting BT Infinity for a while now, as I can't get more than 3.5 meg where I live currently. Luckily, I saw the box begin to be installed, and it now appears to be in place, with tarmac covering the wiring to the service manholes in the ground. I haven't seen much going on since, OpenReach vans have turned up, but I can't tell what they're doing the whole time.
Does anyone have an idea of when the box may be ready for action, from their own experience, or just what people have been saying in general?
I presume it's likely going to be in the Christmasy time, but it'd be nice if it was earlier xD Or if someone can warn me it's going to be later.

Finally I was able to fix it:
- uninstall time-slider
- restert manifest-import service
- install time-slider
- restart manifest-import service
- enable time-slider service
- enable snapshot services
I have no clue why it has to be done exact in this order, but finally I succeeded.

Fat fingers on Ipod time slider

I loved the control I had with my nano when listening to podcasts. By rotating my thumb on the "wheel" I could pinpoint a spot in a podcast or back up a bit to re-listen to a section.
I find the time slider on the iphone to be lousy in comparison. The resolution of the slider is not precise enough and I cannot pinpoint or easily navigate within a podcast.
Any suggestions. Could one of you skilled programmers out there mimic the thumb "wheel" in software?

you don't need to keep ur finger/ thumb on the slider. I've found that u can be a bit more accurate by touching the slider and then u can move away from the slider and you're more likely too see the timescale. Hope this makes sense!

Bubble graph with Time slider?

Hello Experts,
I have a bubble graph with a time slider on it and the bubble graph talks about the Top 5 products sold. so when i play the time slider the legend is static because for some of the years the products name should change as the top 5 sold items are changed but interestingly the legend is stuck. Any thoughts? and when i replace the time slider with a year graph prompt the legend is changing based on the year selection, not sure if it is a bug with slider wondering if there is a way i can still use the time slider

Can I connect an external HD on the time capsule and use it as storage space ?

I am thinking about purchasing a time capsule for backing up my data, but I also need storage space for photos and videos, can I connect an external hard drive to the time capsule and use it as storage ? If so, is there any risk of the time machine use the external hd space for backup as well and eat up all the storage ?

Yes....for storage, as in backup files. But, not recommended for "working" image or media libraries.

No, unless you intend to also use the same drive for Time Machine backups.

Not able to jump to a specific time on a music track (time slider has disappeared!)

I don't know how it happened (update of iOS version?) but the time indicator saying how far into the music track as well as the time slider allowing me to 'scratch' to a specific time have both disappeared.

Hi,
This has not been what SAP has designed its system. How could you be able to clear your GR/IR Clearing account if this is set up in your system? (you can credit GR/IR 100 at the time of GR and debit it for the value of 110 at the time of IR).
What you can do, however, is to make additional posting using 'subsequent debit' option for this mark-up amount.

Can I use the Time Capsule as a media server

As many, I have hundreds of CDs. I was hoping I could store all of my music on the time capsule as well as movies I have purchased and pictures, and use it as a media server. I've heard yes and no in other forums. Any ideas?

The Time Capsule is a dumb hard drive with no brains. It is not a media server and will not ever be one.
If you want to put your music and movies on the Time Capsule, you can do so, just like you could place them on any external hard drive.
But, you will need to have a DLNA server running somewhere else on your network to be able to do anything with the data on the Time Capsule.
Best to use the Time Capsule as it was designed and intended.....for backups....not any active or everyday files.
Speaking of backups, if you place your music and movie files on the Time Capsule.....how will you then back up those files to another hard drive?
