Ask your friend if they use to have an iPhone and used iMessage. If so, they probably didn't unregister their phone number with iMessage before changing phones and your iPhone is still trying to send iMessages to their number. If that's the case, they need to contact Apple support and request that their mobile number be unregistered for iMessage.

Well done getting the wireless network secured.
You have to precede the (hex) password with a '$' in Mac OS, to tell the Internet Connect dialog box that you are keying a hex password (rather than ASCII). This is because the Mac has detected that the network is WEP protected, and leaves it to you to decide how you want to key the password.
As an alternative, in Internet Connect (or from the AirPort icon menu), you can elect to join an "Other" network. If you select your network again, it'll come up with "WEP Password" as the option of Wireless Security. You can change this to "WEP 40/128-bit hex" and then not have to precede your password with the '$'.
Alternatively, you could tell us the make and model of your wireless router and we can tell you how to set, and use an ASCII password. From your 10-character hex password, we can see that you're using 40/64-bit WEP. Non-Apple routers can be a bit fussy when using ASCII passwords with 40-bit WEP (don't worry, this is also true for Windows PC's using 40-bit WEP too), but we can talk you through it.
As a final alternative, as you have such a whizzy Mac, as long as your wireless router supports it, you could use WPA security, and never have to worry about ASCII / hex / '$', etc. Older Macs (particularly original AirPort cards - not AirPort Extreme - and OS9) were limited to 40-bit WEP.

When you updated to Mavericks and qualified for the free iWork apps and then installed them, the old iWork apps were rounded up and put into a folder name iWork' 09 and the three new versions of the apps are scattered in the apps folder in alphabetical order.

Any ideas why I can no longer access shared files on networked PC's in my office? I keep getting a "server not exist or unavailable" error.

I have been able to access the files in the past. Actually when I've had this problem before a restart has solved it. Not this time. And it keeps happening. Even more strange, Filemaker is able to access shared databases stored on the same PC's. Why can Filemaker see these computers? Thanks Barney, I am now using pages to open exisiting Word documents. and then saving in the new format. I then trash the old incompatable (.doc) file.
This works OK, but it will be a time consuming operation to be repearted on each file that I use.
Is there any shortcut to enable sync all of the .doc files to Page?
I have not managed to recover Entourage email files . But now use Mail application, which is fine.
Encountered problems are ongoing.
I have an Epson Epson Stylus Photo Rx430 printer.
Since upgrading to OSX10.7 print files do not load to the printer. The Epson job box shows data is being sent to printer but it the task is never completed.
I take this to be a Printer Driver issue.
Today, I have been in contact with Epson Printer support, enquiring if they have any driver updates for RX430 that would be compatable with OSX10.7 Lion.
I was notified by Epson that they do not have any drivers for any of their printers for the new OSX 10.7.
How may I continue using my now unsupported Epson printer?

Any idea why I can't print using Photoshop Elements 13 and an HP Color Laser Jet printer?

Windows 7 with Photoshop Elements 13 - Recently purchased Elements 13 and haven't been able to print! I have an HP Color Laser Jet CMI1312nfi MFP and printed fine last year with a trial version of Elements 12. I keep getting errors saying "the saved print information is an incompatible version. It has been set to default values" as well as "default printer could not be opened." I downloaded an update to the driver for the printer today but still no luck. Any other ideas?

I ended up reinstalling the drivers for the Canon from the original CD and that took care of it. Normally I can just copy the PPDs for our particular printers to the PPD folder in the Library/Printers/PPDs folder and it works fine, but for some reason this machine decided it needed everything reinstalled. It's working now.

The troubleshooting steps below may help you with the sound issue you are having with your iPhone 4:
iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
Resolution
Verify that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack, including headsets, headphones, or adapters.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is not switched to silent.
While on the Home screen, adjust the volume buttons. If you see the icon below, indicating that headphones are attached, there may be debris or an object lodged in the headset jack:
Check the headset jack. If there is an object lodged in the headset jack that is not easily removed, have the iPhone serviced to remove object.
For Original iPhone: If there is light debris, such as lint, in the headset jack, try connecting a pair of headphones to the headset jack and then remove the headphones. Repeat this several times to remove the debris.
If you have installed a protective film on the display, either ensure that the receiver is not covered or remove the film completely.
Check the receiver mesh (which is on the top front of the device, above the display). If it appears blocked, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If you have paired with a Bluetooth headset that is nearby, either use the headset or turn Bluetooth off (chooseSettings > General > Bluetooth).
Restart the iPhone.
If restarting the iPhone doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring the device.
If the issue persists, go to the Service Answer Center - iPhone for information on service.

Thing is there is no matter were I go on the web nor what kind o video I try to see, it simply won't work! I have installed the latest version of flash player and some other plugins like VLC, Media Player or Quick Time, all updated! I read some of the solutions but neither is working. Any idea what might it be? I use the latest version of Firefox and I use also Aurora.

HT1911 Why does the Apple ID password on my iPhone never work on my iMac desktop? I have to keep changing them when I login back and forth. Why can't it recognize on either device?

It seems that every time I login on my iPhone to buy iTunes, it doesn't recognize my password and I have to change it. Then when I go to iTunes to synch, it says my password which I created on the SAME APPLE ID is invalid and I have to change it. I tried to change it to the same password each time, but still it was not recognized by the other device. Is it because I'm not on Lion or Mountain Lion? (although I seem to remember this problem happening before there was iCloud)

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

I have the same problem. I think that someone tried my iphone before me because when I want to reset it, I'm invited to enter a password that I didn't set. Also, when I go the Map application, the iphone indicate that I'm locateded in China while I'm in Tunisia. Now, I can't connect to my iphone to itunes, and I can't reset it because it ask me to enter a password that I didn't set.

Is there a limit to number of bookmarks? Safari will not add any more.

I found the fix and here is what I did. I opened Safari. On the top row I clicked "Safari" then "Empty Cache...". Under Safari I then clicked on "Preferences...". In the window that opened I clicked on the "Privacy" tab. Then I clicked the "Remove all Website Date..." button. I can now access the ATT.com site without any issues.
