Any more word on airport issues?

I am able to connect to the internet and bring up web pages, but streaming content across my network has hiccups, freezes every 30 seconds or so. This does not occur on the ibook, imac g5 , pb g4 and all non apple devices on the network only the mac intel.
I've turned off ipv6, turned on the interference option, turned off all the powersaving options, switched to a static ip and a hard-coded dns .
But it still happens, I have to conclude that there is a driver bug, has anyone gotten any further with apple or found a solution, I have my ethenet connected to our cable modem but I use the airport to access our dsl router and home network. This works fine with the g5 but not the intel.
As a last resort I have a usb ethernet adaptor and found some drivers that will let me add it as a second wired ethernet adaptor, but I'd real rather not go that route.

I've been having serious WLAN reliability problems ever since the upgrade to 10.4.5. I'm using WPA with TKIP (WPA Personal on the Mac) and when my system resumes from sleep the wireless conntection is lost and can only be recovered after a reboot.
I also experience periodic disconnects and very slow downloads from time to time - I have 4 other PCs at home and all function perfectly. A fix for this would be very much appreciated.

  • Leopard 10.5.2: Airport doesn't do DHCP any more!

Hi, I am running Leopard 10.5.2 on my G4 Powerbook (Version 5,6)
At my home wireless network I have been successfully using Airport for 3 years, I but now I have a problem:
My Airport does not connect any more (it did before with 10.5.2) to the Wireless Router (Netgear Wireless ADSL Modem Firewall DG834GB) Router via DHCP - my Airport connection claims to have a self choosen IP with some strange subnetmask (255.255.0.0) and therefore I don't get access to the Internet.
I have checked with another iBook G4 running 10.4.x that everything is working. as expected.
My current solution is to enter a static IP altogether with some DNS-server information like:
    192.168.0.4
    255.255.255.0
    192.168.0.1
and DNS server adresses not shown here from my university
    So to sum it up:
my Networking Preference Pa(i)ne claims to have DHCP configured for Airport, but shows a self-chosen IP number with a strange subnet (255.255.0.0).
I only can access the Internet by configuring a manual IP with some extra DNS server addresses.
    Any ideas?
Any preference file I should try to trash?
Where can I find the network config files to post them here?
    cheers,
    akrsten

Thanks for the help and sorry for the delay, been too busy and WIFI still worked, but now I really want to use airdisk and my printer. I resetted multiple times. When I reset, airport utility app detects the airport extreme, but hangs on reading the configuration.
So I switched to a windows laptop and Windows had no trouble finding the airport extreme, nor configuring the airport. I set the channel to 9, but no use. Pretty desperate right now, maybe I should switch to Windows to use apple hardware? Another strange thing is that I have the same problem from Windows on my macbook (running VMWare Fusion). Maybe this is an hardware issue, but I have no problems with WIFI, just with the configuration of my airport extreme.
    kind regards,
    Pieter

  • I have a password issue and can't get my gmails on my IOS7 devices any more

    Hi, there,
Well, i have a problem with my devices, iphone and ipad2, both ios 7, and the issue is that i renewed my google account password and updated it on my devices but i cannot get my gmail emails any more and i get a Cannot Get Mail message and i'm asked to go back to settings on my device and put in my details again, which i have already done ten and more times, and still, to no use.
I even thought maybe i am not typing the right password, so i checked it again on my laptop computer and all was fine there.
Well, i hope there is a kind of explanation to this.
    Thanks a lot,

If not I HIGHLY recommend you do that before you do anything else.

  • IPad alignment issues - any more suggestions in late 2013?

    Hi,
I realise that this question has been asked before, but many of the replies are from over a year ago, so I am wondering if anyone can shed anymore light on it?
I have a site I designed in Muse that displays justified left on an ipad and iphone, rather then centered.
I have gone through the pages and there seems to be no objects that are sitting to the right of the page which would cause the problem.
I tried adding 'overflow:hidden' in the css file, and while this fixed the issue on the ipad, it stopped the full browser width images and footer diaplying at full width.
Any more ideas on how to fix this?  Is it possible to add 'overflow;hidden' to the css file AND keep the footer and full browser with images displaying at full width?
The site in question is http://www.wearebrightlight.com
    Many thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Ben

Lol, sorry about that. It seems we exchanged typos. Yours in the original URL and mine in neglecting to type "not" a Muse generate site.
Now that I'm looking at the correct (very nice) site, a couple notes.
First, when scroll effects are used, the pinch to zoom functionality on mobile devices is disabled. Due to idiosyncrasies of mobile browsers we have yet to find a way to have scroll effects work correctly/reliably across mobile browsers when combined with pinch zooming. (If you find sites with scroll effects that have pinch zooming enable, please point them out to us. Perhaps we'll be able to determine a way to enabling pinch zooming with scroll effects in the future.)
Second, when a site is loaded into a mobile browser the browser will zoom the view such that the left edge of the page is at the left edge of the device and the right edge of the content (which is the page width if everything is within the page width) is at the right edge of the device.
From the appearance of your site in a mobile browser I expect the content in the Work section of the page is flush with the left edge of the page and that somewhere on the page there's content that extends to roughly ruler location 1333, since the browser appears to be zooming out so roughly 1333 pixels are scaled down to fit in the width of the device.
If this doesn't appear to match what things looks like in Design view, a screenshot of the Work section in design view with guides displayed and everything unlocked, visible and selected may help us better understand the layout.
If this does match the current appearance, then moving everything to the right on the page would provide a left "margin" and verifying no content is outside the right of the page will cause the area between zero and the right page edge to scale to fill mobile browsers.

I just made the update with "Mountain Lion" on my MAC. Now I´m not able to open all my (old) Word-Documents any more. What can I do?

Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion
You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

  • My Airport is not finding my external HDDs any more

    Hello,
I just moved into a new place and I didn't plug my external HDD into my Airport since then. But yesterday i wanted to do so and then it didn't recognize the hard drive any more. It was not showing up in the hard drive section of the Airport configuration utility. The strange thing is that the external hard drive gets recognized on my MacBook Pro. I also can't hear any noise (spinning up) from the HDD when I plug it into my Airport Extreme.
The only difference since I last used my external hard drive with my Airport before moving into my new place was that there was a firmware update in the meantime. Not I have the latest verion (7.5.2)
Could this have anything to do with it?

Plug the drive into your computer
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Click on your drive on the left side of the window and then click Repair Disk at the lower right hand corner of the main window
It may take 30-45 minutes for this to complete. Then try the drive again at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme. Be sure to power everything off when you do this and restart things one at a time.
If that does not help, your last resort is to plug the drive into your computer again and open Disk Utility again. This time click Repair Disk Permissions. Then try again.
Are you trying to use Time Machine with the drive attached to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme?

  • Why won't my airport express generation 1 connect to anything any more?

All I get is flashing green light which tells me it's trying to connect.  It's worked perfectly for years until this week.  Have Apple done some automatic updating which means it won't work any more?  As it won't initiate it won't, therefore, show on my computer so I can't 'talk' to it at all.

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.

  • Connection to App Store doesn't word any more

    Hi,
I don't know why but since 2 days, i can't connect to App Store from my ipad any more. The same for the access to iTunes.
I manage to access t internet so i really don't understand the problem.
Can someone help me with that ?
    Thks

    Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • MBP Santa Rosa Airport Issues w/ Leopard

    Hi everyone,
I've noticed a few "quirks" since upgrading to Leopard. Whenever my Macbook Pro (Santa Rosa, 2.4 GHz, 17", 4GB RAM) is searching for a wireless network to join, the system becomes completely unresponsive. The mouse pointer stutters and jumps around the screen and it's impossible to precisely control its movement. When I can finally manage to click on the Airport icon in the menu bar and select the appropriate network to join, the problems stop as soon as a connection to a wireless network is established. It only happens when the system is searching for a Network. I should mention that it does this when I am at work (where I connect via 802.1x and TTLS) and at home (where I connect via an Airport Express Router).
Also, my computer no longer automatically connects to my work network (it does at home, though) after a restart or waking from sleep). I have my MBP set to prompt me for a password when it wakes from sleep, but it's near next to impossible to enter in the password because the system hangs so badly as it tries to establish a network connection. Of course, it doesn't connect unless I manage to click the Airport icon and specify the network I wish to join. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
All of this is a little frustrating since the latest updates to Airport in Tiger fixed all of the connection issues I had had previously with my MBP. When I first bought the machine I had many issues with network connections (as did many thousands of others who bought this model). I was wondering if other MBP Santa Rosa owners have observed similar behavior since upgrading to Leopard, and if so, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this issue?
I should also mention that my Mac Mini C2D 1.83GHz (latest model) has no such issues so I think this is something that is still linked to this particular model of MBP.
    Many thanks!

I am moving this over here, from the boot camp section. Hopefully this is more the location that this needs to be in. Well, my problem is not as extreme as some, but still an annoyance. I installed Leopard the first day, and immediately had HUGE airport issues. The computer would lose my hub. I run an Airport Extreme with an Express as a WDS. The computer would see the express, but lose the extreme completely. So no internet. If I messed with it long enough, I could get the computer to recognize the extreme, but as soon as the computer went to sleep, it would lose it again. I installed the keychain update, and the situation didn't get much better. Most of the time I get the "You are not connected to the Internet" error in Safari, and when I run network diagnostics the computer "finds" the internet again, and I get a "Network configuration change detected" message and all my lights go green.
After I installed the Keychain update, I repaired disk permissions. Any ideas?

  • Premiere Elements 12 will not allow me to add any more 'Default Text'

Premiere Elements 12 will not allow me to add any more 'Default Text'. Being using it fine up until today! Created over 80 words so far for subtitles but for some reason it wont allow me today!!!

    Dave
Thanks for the follow up. Interesting result.
What is the specific Music Score that you used in the Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Mac Soundtrack that was limiting you in the number of words that could be included as text in the project's opened Titler?
    Please confirm
    a. Working in Expert workspace or Quick workspace?
    and
    b. Was the 12.1 Update in effect before and after you observed that the Music Score soundtrack removal resolved the issue of number of words limit in the Titler?
    and
    c. Did the Titler problem exist if you replace the Music Score soundtrack with a non Music Score music file?
    and
    d. If you moved the Music Score soundtrack to one of the numbered Audio Tracks, did the Titler problem exist?
If you have no Music Score soundtrack in the project, create your title of 80 plus words in the Titler, close the Titler, and then bring the Music
Score soundtrack to the project's Soundtrack, does that strategy work for you?
The above information will help me to think about what happened in your case and give me more insight into how to prevent it happening to
    you in future projects.
    Thanks.

  • Why is my Macbook pro now extremely slow and not running things like powerpoint any more?

I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Mavericks installed. Now my Macbook Pro is slower than a one-legged tortoise.
It won't run powerpoint, which just crashes. en my keyboard misses the first part of sentences because it can't keep up. I have to double check everything I type. I'm trying to run a business, and I'm losing time, money and the will to live.
I cannot reinstall microsoft office, as I bought my macbook Pro (2 GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3) from a seller who cleanly installed Mountain lion for me, and installed Office 11 on it. I do not have any installation disks. I have been forced to downgrade to Mountain Lion, which I'm still waiting for Apple to send to me.
Is there anyone out there who can give me any help. I'm not paying Apple any more money. Why should I? I've already been forced to rebuy an operating system that my Macbook previously had installed.
Not only that, I think I have an expanding battery issue, and my trackpad is now broken. Just to add to my woes.
Has anyone had a solution to solving the Mavericks debacle?
    Please somebody, help.
    Please.
    Before I start self harming.

Note that I had no heavy CPU processes like stobston had.  There are some processes using lots of memory  though.  Made me wonder, could it be  a swap or contention issue?  I have a Macbook Air, so 'swapping' doesn't mean what it used to mean.  Anyway, I tried closing Excel and Finder.  Powerpoint was still slow.   I ran etrechek again.  WebProcess and mds are still running at the same memory usage; nearly half a gig between them.  WebProcess is Safari; shutting down Safari didn't help.   I have heard that Safari has had memory leaks, I don't know if that's true or not.  mds is the MetaData Server for SpotLight. I had run Spotlight several times today, and also did a lot of desktop cleanup.   That might have triggered mds.
I don't know how well Mountain Lion reclaims memory ( now I'm really getting into the weeds ), so I shut down  MacOS  and restarted it.  This time, I started up PowerPoint first, with nothing else running.  Problem solved.  PPT is running fine.
Thanks again all for your inputs.  An hour ago, I had no idea where to start.
