Any News on New BIOS soon for P965 Neo?

Anyone heard anything about a new official BIOS for the P965 Neo?
I hope 1.5 isn't the last we will hear about.
Moderators know anything?
There is still some major shortcomings with 1.5
I'm not one for trying Beta's either...........

No, I dunno any update yet.... check with other P965 Neo users?
Do you face any issue?

  • How to get new E8400 CPU to work with P965 Neo-F V2?

My old Core 2 Duo E6850 CPU died recently, but Intel doesn't manufacture that model any longer it seems and noone has it available. From the mainboard CPU compatibility list I could see that the equivalent E8400 model would work with my P965 Neo-F V2 as well, and the guy who sold it to me said it would. However, if I understand the compatibility list correctly, the E8400 CPU needs the newest 3.8 BIOS. I've never flashed the BIOS, so it's whatever version it came with (2.1 I think).
Is there any way to get this BIOS on the mainboard without my old CPU? I got a used (but working) E8400 CPU to try with, but it gets stuck at the first boot screen. I can't access the BIOS settings or get a keyboard to work.
Is there anything I can do with my current CPU and mainboard, or do I have to find a CPU that runs on the mainboard, flash the BIOS and then use the new CPU? Am I completely screwed?
    Thank you.

do I have to find a CPU that runs on the mainboard, flash the BIOS and then use the new CPU?
Yes. Original BIOS would have been 3.0
Edit: This is best way to flash BIOS >> USB BIOS flash << Don't use 'Live Update'

  • Video cards for p965 NEO

I have a computer i build in 2006 utilizing the p965 NEO motherboard. since then, i have been out of the game.
Will this board run newer video cards? i am looking at a GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost, considering just making a whole new machine as well, but if i don't have to...

    looked up the specs.
    Slots
    • One PCI Express x16 slot. (supports PCI Express Bus specification v1.0a compliant)
    • Two PCI Express x1 slots. (supports PCI Express Bus specification v1.0a compliant)
    • Three PCI 2.3 32-bit PCI bus slots (support 3.3V/5V PCI bus interface).
    i have a 550w PSU

  • Old BIOS version for 945PL Neo (MS-7236 v2.x)

Older BIOS files for this board 945PL Neo are not available for download on the website, it's all done through the updater program.  When the bios is upgraded it does not save the old bios for backup, I found out.
I need to downgrade the BIOS to the board's shipping version.  I unfortunately updated the BIOS to I think it was 5.2 and I need version 5.0.  Upgrading the BIOS screwed up a license key for an application I'm running.  I couldn't have planned a better disaster.
    Anyone?
    Thank you.

    EDIT: i see now

DOS sound: This driver supports DOS sound for VIA VT82C686A/VT82C686B/VT8231 southbridges only. The VIAAUDIO.COM file mentioned in the Readme concerning DOS sound can be obtained from this old audio driver package. It is no longer supplied in the Vinyl_AudioCodec driver package.

  • Quad Core support for P965 Neo-f

I noticed that on the main MSI website doesn't say that P965 Neo-F.
But prior getting the MB from a shop in Singapore, the shop seller phoned a Singapore MSI Representative and he confirmed that The Mobo will support Quad Core.
So i end up getting the mobo. Can anyone confirm on this or the SG MSI staff has given incorrect information?

The problem is that I there might not be a lot of people who have actually tried to make a Quad Core CPU work on that motherboard.  I believe that most people who decide to go for a Quad Core will probably just buy a mainboard that officially support that kind of CPU (and avoid the Neo-f).  Calling MSI Support to ask if it is possible even though the product description does not mention it, is usually not the "standard" procedure.
That is why I do not believe you will find a clear answer to your question in a user forum like this, because nobody has really tried it in practice.  You might be one of the first person trying to put such a combination to work.  I am sure many people will be interested in reading about your experiences...
Again, I doubt that you will get a clear answer to your question, unless you find someone who has actually tried this kind of setup. Until then you have to rely on what MSI Support told you and hope that this statement is a true one.

  • SATA Drivers for P965 Neo ?

    Ok.. first time  here..
I have an Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo running on an MSI P965 Neo MB with 2 GB RAM, with a Seagate ST3320620AS 320 GB SATA drive. The OS is WinXP Pro.
For the most part, everything is ok. However, I suspect the HD is not running at max capacity. In some basic file transfer tests, I calculate that the data transfer rate is about 32 MB/Sec.  Running the PassMark Performance Text, it says about 46 to 47 MB.  However, the specs on the Seagate site say this drive should be able to run about 72 MB in sustained transfer rate.
Now I have been chatting on some other boards about this, and the consensus is that I should have installed the SATA driver prior to the WinXp install (when prompted press F6 to install 3rd party drivers). However, when I look at the MSI site ( http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php?part=1&kind=4&CHIP=4&COM=24 ), I only see RAID drivers. I am not interested in running RAID - besides, I only have one hard drive. Are there some specific SATA drivers I need to install before installing XP? If so, which ones and where do I get them?
Secondly, if I DO need to install a driver, how do I go about this without a floppy drive?  When I bought the system, I opted to get flash media card reader instead of a floppy drive, since I thought floppys were pretty much obsolete.  Will XP recognize the driver on a flash media card instead of the floppy drive, or do I need to now buy a floppy drive?
    Paul

    Maesus..
    Many thanks for the reply!
The drive is in SATA port 1, and the drive is a Seagate ST3320620AS 320 GB SATA II, rated at 3.0 GBits.
The board has 5 SATA ports, numbered: 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7.  (Not sure why there are no 2 or 5 ports.)
The manual says they are all high speed SATA II ports, rated at 300 MB, and although the specs say there are 4 SATA II ports by ICH8 and 1 SATA II port by JMicron JMB361, it does not specify which is the JMicron port.
Do you know which port is the JMricon? And can I move the cable to a different port, without affecting operation? i.e, will the system still boot up?  Or does moving it involve reloading the OS? Do I need to load a 3rd party driver for the ICH8 ports?
    Thanks for your assistance!
    Paul

  • What is new in the Bios aviable for Satellite A100-PSAA9?

    i canot found a chanlog :(

    Hi Bela
What do you search for? Do you need informations about new BIOS version or what?
At this time you will find a newest version of BIOS on the Toshiba page.
I have checked the site and it seems the 5.10 version was released on 25/01/07 and its OS independent.
Unfortunately, you will not find any information about modification of the new BIOS version.
It seems Toshiba European site doesnt provide such details.

  • BIOS upgrade for K8N Neo-V 2.0, MS-7030, from v9.0?

Does anyone know where to find the latest BIOS for the older Socket 754 MB mentioned in my Subject?  It's running v9.0 now, and I've heard that there's at least one newer release.  I'm having trouble with suspend/resume and hibernate, and was hoping a new BIOS might help.
I submitted a request via the Online Service ticketing system two days ago, but haven't heard back yet.
    Trying MSI's site at http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=210
it offers only the "Live Update" service for this particular board, which won't work for me because I don't run Windows, only Linux (can boot to a DOS floppy to reflash, of course).
ftp.msi.com.tw access requires a username/password, and the old "*********" one isn't accepted anymore.
    thanks,

Never mind, I was able to access the FTP site as '*******' / '*******', downloaded and flashed the latest v9.14 BIOS.  The process was fast enough that on un-hibernating back into Linux after the upgrade, all my ssh sessions were still connected, which was nice
Whether this update will solve the AGP-related suspend trouble, only time will tell... that doesn't happen every time.
btw, is there any way to prevent the "NVIDIA RAID BIOS 4.81" scan from slowing down a boot cycle, turning it off completely for systems that don't use RAID?  One would think that setting all RAID options to DISABLED in the BIOS setup screen would do so, but it pops up and spends a few seconds scanning regardless.

  • Best bios settings for K8T Neo + Athlon 64 3200+ + ATI 9700 Pro ?

Hi, i just got my k8T Neo (MS-6702) and can't figure out the best/most stable settings in the bios for my system yet. I am mainly using my computer for GAMES, so this is what i am talking about when i say "optimization"
I got an ATI 9700 Pro, an Athlon 64 3200+ and 2x512 mb of Kingston Value Ram (bank 1 and 2).
The main settings i really don't know how to set are:
    -Internal Cache
    -External Cache
    -System Bios Cacheable
    -C000, 32k Shadow
    -MPS Revision
    -AGP Fastwrite
    -AGP Aperture Size
I wish i could get rid of any instability problems, i had a few crashes so far. Yet, i would like to set my system to get the most of my hardware in terms of speed.
Thanks in advance for your help guys !

    internal cache-on
    external cache-on
    system bios-disabe
    c shadow stuff-disable
agp fastwrite on unless you have problems, you'll know fast
agp apperature size..depends on sys ram if over 512 best to atleast 128, if not 256
(official recomadation is 1/2 your system ram)
disable any onboard stuff you dont use like sound, sata controlers,
    quick boot enable. smart enable
logo disable, floppy drive seek disable,
i wouldnt mess with mps table version.
power management to s3 usb wake enable..power management agm-disable
suspend time-disable-...set wakeup events hit enter, choose kbc & or mouse.
    that should get you started.

Thats not actually correct, the Pentium Dual Core series E5xxx replaces the Pentium Dual Core E2xxx series, The Celeron Dual Core E3xxx series replaces the Celeron Dual Core E1xxx series.
