Any printing issues CS4/PIXMA Pro9000/MAC OS 10.5?

I just installed CS-4 on my new MAC and encountered the dark print problems (on my HP printer) that I have read about here. I was planning on getting a Canon PIXMA Pro9000. Anyone have any experience with CS4 / MAC and this printer?

You can download the driver, install it and add printer to check the features. Make sure you can turn off CM etc.
The latest driver has a 12/18/2008 date so I would guess it works correctly.

  • Printing issue when using Intel Macs to print wirelessly via Airport

We seem to have a problem. It has come to light since using Intel based Macs running 10.4.7 and Airport to connect wirelessly to the internet and to print to a Acculaser C1900N with intel printer driver installed. When setting up by Bonjour and then printing to the printer it fails and an exclamation mark appears on the printer icon in the Dock. Appletalk is enabled for the port, just in case you ask.
Browsing the internet works fine, but the printing side fails every time.
When we insert a Ethernet cable everything works fine.
As far as I can see its not a System Software problem related to old macs running 10.4.7, but to new Intel macs running 10.4.7. I have tried this on a Intel Mac Mini and also an Intel MacBook the results are the same.
Please has anyone got a solution as we start a new term with these new macs in about two days and printing is a integral part of school life.

I have just configured a new Airport Extreme and I have just printed sucessfully to our printer. Weird its just a Graphite Airport base Station Issue. I am not sure if the problem occours with the Snow Airport Base Station....Ill have to try that one out. I am so happy that it works you wouldnt believe it.

  • Printing issues from XP to Mac

    Hi
I am trying to print from pc laptop running XP Home to shared printer on iMac, running 10.4.5. I can not get it to work. When I run the Bonjour wizard it finds the printer, Epson R300, no problem. Set up seems fine. I print and it certainly gets sent somewhere - I can even see the log on the mac receiving it - it says POST so assume it is trying to forward the print correctly - but nothing happens. No error on the printer either.
    Any ideas?

ok. sorted it. Just in case anyone else made this stupid error. I was selecting the epson driver and not the generic postscript. Not clear why it uses a generic postscript driver but it works. Perhaps someone could explain it to me?

  • Printing issues since upgrade to Mac OS 10.6.7

    Hello,
since I upgraded to Version 10.6.7, my Canon LBP3100 doesn't print black writing anymore. Everything else just like printing pictures works fine. Reinstalling the printer's driver didn't help and the printer used to work before I upgraded Mac OS 10.6.7...
Does anyone know when Apple is going to fix this issue? I find this to be pretty ridiculous, they better work on getting this problem fixed because I really don't feel like downgrading or using programs like printtherapy in order to restart the cups-printer-service every time after restarting my macbook....
Thanks for your help in advance!

Canon released an updated CAPT driver to resolve this issue. You can obtain v3.31 via this link. Before installing this latest version, delete the print queue in Print & Fax (select the printer and press the minus button) and then open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Printers > Canon and trash the CAPT folder. With this removed you can now run the new v3.31 installer and then add the printer again.

  • CS3 Crash before opening & Printer issues

MacBook Pro Using Tiger, Problems with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop CS3 and HP Photosmart C4280 Printer/Scanner
The problem started last week. I went to open the HP Scan Pro application to scan a document. The program started to open but an error came up before it loaded saying, "The application HP Scan Pro quit unexpectedly..." but if I start the program after unplugging the printers USB cord from my computer an error says "Error- Sorry, scanner could not be initialized. (Scanner not found.)" Therefore the error and crash only occur when the printer is connected. When I try to scan from the printer itself the printer screen says, "USB not connected". I also cannot print, the error message that comes up says "Print- Error when printing". If these were the only problems, I would blame it on HP and would be asking the question in their discussion boards, but the problem extends into CS3 as well. With InDesign, I open the program and the start up box comes up and acts like it is loading, but once that is finished nothing happens (the program itself just doesn't open). With Illustrator the same thing happens with the start up box but once it goes to load the program the same error message that happens with ScanPro comes up "The application Adobe Illustrator CS3 quit unexpectedly...". When opening Photoshop, an error box comes up that says "An Unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occured. Photoshop will now exit". Safari also seems to be freezing more often, I have had to "force quit" at least once an hour.
Last week when I had the problem I uninstalled the HP software and reinstalled and it seemed to fix the problem, until it started again today. Last week the CS3 problem was only happening in Illustrator and InDesign, but Photoshop was working and it seemed to fix itself before I did the reinstall if I remember correctly (but I'm not positive about the order in which issues were resolved last time). I went to do the same thing this time, but in the HP uninstall program it wont let me finish because the "uninstall" button wont work.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I am having the same issue with my Mac. We have a hp 5550 printer and cs4 on a Mac G5 2.3 ghz processor power pc, 8gb ram and 500gb hard drive space. It started with the Adobe products. You could not open any of the programs. It seemed like some of the programs wanted to start and then all of a sudden the application would quit. We called Adobe support and they told us to uninstall. We can't uninstall all of a sudden even from the disk. We were told to uninstall by throwing the CS4 app folder in the trash and then use the Clean Utility app to delete the remaining files. That didn't work. Now the printer doesn't work and we can't install adobe acrobat from the web. We get this error, "Adobe reader could not install. Adobe reader was not able to install necessary component and must quit." When we tried to uninstall through adobe utilites, run the clean utility, and reinstall CS4, the computer asks us for the password and we enter it and then the install quits. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

  • PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II print issue with Mac

I am having issues printing photos.  The picture comes out really dark, and the color is not right.  I am using the latest version of Mac.  How can I fix this issue?

    Hi droidus,
iPhoto is good for basic printing, but it offers very little in the way of color correction beyond the basic print quality settings.  If you are printing professionally with the Pro9000 Mark II I would recommend using a program that givse you more control over how the picture comes out such as Photoshop.

  • Being new to working with Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to set my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll? My husband had gotten this printer and the sales person said that it can be set up wirelessly to my Mac Book Pro

Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)

    Hello:
There is nothing wrong with asking questions.  There  are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions.
If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly.  *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.
    Barry
P.S. No need to apologize!  Most of the people here (none of us are Apple employees) enjoy trying to help others.

  • Any ideas how to fix my mac book pro to canon pixma mp640 printer connection?

Anyone have any ideas how to fix my mac book pro to canon pimxa mp640 printer link? The two are connected manually yet the ! remains on the 'print' page next to the printer name. it was working fine until i changed the ink cartridges. Without the wireless password - which I've never had and don't supposedly need as it's not a wireless connection, I am being prevented from resuming printing.

If it's on a windows network you have to enter your (windows) log in (name/password) credentials.
This should be a 1 time event. It will remember it thereafter.

  • InDesign CS4 Printing issue

    Hi:
I use InDesign CS4 in my job as a church office manager. I print bulletins that are usually 3 letter-sized pages, landscape, 2-sided, and newsletters that are 2 11x17 pages, landscape, 2-sided. I'm working in Mac OS 10.5.8.
Until today, I was using a fairly old HP 8100dn printer. When I upgraded from CS3 to CS4 last summer, I found a strange thing: I couldn't print duplex on letter-sized paper from InDesign. No matter what settings I selected, the printing would not duplex. As a workaround, I had to export everything as a PDF and print from Acrobat, where the duplexing worked fine.
Weirdly, 11x17 duplex printing worked correctly from InDesign.
I never solved the problem, but when I posted this on the forum last summer, one responder said that it might have had something to do with the 8100's age and its PostScript Level 2 emulation.
Just today, my office got a new(er) printer, an HP 8150dn. This one has PostScript Level 3 emulation.
Precisely the same problem. Letter-sized won't duplex from ID; 11x17 will. Exporting letter-sized documents to PDF and printing from Acrobat is once again the workaround. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it is a bit of a hassle.
Does anyone have any sort of idea about why this is happening, or better, how it might be fixed?
    Thanks much,
    GT
PS: ID won't duplex when printing in portrait orientation on letter-sized paper, either.
Message was edited by: It doesn't work!

Well, I fixed it, I think… I googled "Printing issues in Mac OS," which led me to install Gutenprint 5.2.5 — whatever the heck that is — and suddenly duplex printing worked in both landscape and portrait on letter-sized paper.
Unfortunately, and yet not at all surprisingly, I now couldn't print to 11x17 at all. No matter what I did, the printer used Tray 2 (letter), or told me to put custom paper in Tray 1.
So, as a last-ditch attempt to resolve this before I jumped off the roof, I reset the printer to its factory defaults and deleted all traces of it from Mac OS's Printer and Fax window.
Then I created one new printer called "8150 (Gutenprint)" using the Gutenprint driver, and one called "8150 (11x17)" using the default HP driver, both using the same IP address. Lo and behold, when I select the one, I can print duplexed on letter size, and when I select the other, I can do the same on 11x17.
I don't know if this is the sort of thing that a real tech-head would condone, but it finally seems to work. Since I'd never be printing to both printers simultaneously, I figure I can live with this.
If anyone cares to explain to me in layman's terms what Gutenprint is all about, I'd love to be educated…

  • HELP!!!--- Canon Pixma MG5420 Mac OS X 10.5.8 PowerPC Universal Binary Print Driver...... ---

    Greetings Everyone!
I am a bit miffed at the moment.
I purchased a Canon Pixma MG5420 Print-Copy-Scan machine with the intention of using it with my Power Mac G5, PowerPC, Mac OS X 10.5.8.
But alas. Apparently it is not to be. The box in which the printer came cleary displays the Mac Logo and the Universal Logo, the Universal Logo looking like this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_binary
The Mac OS X system requirements also notate the OS X to be a minimum of 10.5.8!
The driver CD only contains drivers for Mac OS X Intel.
So Someone....ANYONE!....please tell me why Canon has stooped to this low level of "False Advertising"???
Let's FLAG this issue and find out WHY!
    NEED HELP!
    ....and could use working drivers!

IT"S OFFICIAL!---> Canon has stopped porting any of their drivers to the Universal Binary format for MAC OS X which is a combo installer for PowerPC and Intel machines.
The MG5420 MFP that I have was released in December 2012 and they *said* that I was the first person to "complain" of this issue!....REALLY!?!?....wow...so there is no one else out there using the PowerPC platform??? I find the G5 (model M9592LL/A) to be quite adequate and useable for what I do!  I guess the engineers couldn't be bothered to "port" it to the PowerPC platform!  Listen Canon, if you don't think the PowerPC is still useable, go visit http://www.macofalltrades.com/ and watch the "trend" of what sells and what doesn't.....or maybe you should call another authority of Apple products http://www.macsales.com/ and ask what volume of PowerPC compatible parts they sell?!
And Canon, I know you offered to buy back this "mistake", but for the $99 I bought it at, (extra set of ink not included) I may just hold on to it and do the "workaround" of scanning to and printing from a Windows XP PC shared folder...No, Canon, I'm not completely stupid!....I set-up MFP's for my job, so I know a little bit about networking!  ...enough to be dangerous, at least!  ;-)   Any way, I just got this G5 a year or so ago and it is new to me...I probably wait a little longer and then get an Intel Mac, and THEN it will work natively with this INTEL CANON!....LOL!
    What do you think?!.....Thoughts?.....Ideas?
Oh, and Canon.....get your "engineering" team and your marketing "box makers/printers" in Thailand to get their "info" to correspond and be accurate....that way there will be no false advertising and misrepresentation of Apple's "Intellectual Property" and "breach of contract!.....You darn well know they have an "Image" to uphold!
    https://developer.apple.com/softwarelicensing/agreements/maclogo.html
    CHEERS!
PS--you better watch your back Canon on this little faux pas!....Epson might use this to their advertising advantage!....they still support Universal Binary!

  • Slow down issue with Premiere CS4 on a Mac pro

I am having a similar slow down issue with Premiere CS4 on a Mac pro, but I don't have bloated prproj file size.
Here is what I am working with:
Mac Pro intel quad core 2.8ghz
    OSX 10.6.7 Snow Leopard
    6Gigs RAM
3TB storage between 4 drives, each drive with about 50% free space
I am editing a 10 minute HD video from avchd files.  The edited video is very heavy in photoshop files with a variety of different fx including green screen.  The system has slowed down to almost a standstill.  Anytime I move the playcurser, or try to do any action, it displays the spinning top "thinking" icon and takes 15 seconds to several minutes to unfreeze.  I am often forced to force quit and I have gotten unexpected quits several times.   The program also freezes on startup frequently.
No other programs are running.  When I export with media encoder, it took about 4 hours to complete.  The last 4 or so photoshop images I added seemed to tip the program over the edge.  It had been slowing down some, but those last few really dropped the processing speed.  Before those additions, export took 30 min to 1hr.
I did delete the render files (did not check if the file size was bloated beforehand, oops) but it has not significantly affected my performance.

Do you need all of those extra pixels in the stills? Are you panning the full 4976?
Two things to consider are that if you using, say a 1920 x 1080 Sequence Frame Size, you can only see that at any time, regardless of how large the images are in pixels. If there are extra pixels, i.e. the Pan is not using all 4976 pxls., I would Scale to just what you need in PS, prior to Import.
If you are doing any Scale in PrPro, its Scaling algorithms are not as efficient, as those in PS. [Note: CS5 and 5.5 are a major improvement on that statement.]
With many large stills (the max for CS4 is 4096 x 4096, if there ARE extra pixels, pushing those around will use up resources, and quickly. As a test, some years back, I was working on a "photo wall," and was using 4000 x 4000 images. The workstation had no issues with slowness, until I got to the 5th large still. By the 8th, the Project was too slow to edit. I had to wait for everything. Luckily, I have AE, and it handles large stills much more efficiently, and much differently, than PrPro. I just moved to an AE Comp, and completed the Project, finishing up n PrPro, after I Exported from AE.
Just something to think about. With Scaling in PrPro, this is one time, where bigger is not necessarily better.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Printing Issue - Custom Media Sizes, InDesign CC/Mac Mavericks

    Hi all,
I've got a strange problem that I hope someone can provide some insight to.  Perhaps this is a bug, but I'd rather ensure that there isn't something here that I haven't understood.
I have a project that I periodically modify and re-print on custom size media (3.25" x 7.36").  I've used the same Id document and workflows since, probably, Id 2 or 3, updating each time to the latest versions.  The problem may be in the way Id CC interacts with the MacOS X printing system.  The printer in question is a Xerox 8550.
The project is a one page table printed on this particular card stock.  What's happening is that the printable area on the stock isn't being fully used - the top and bottom of the media aren't being printed - thus the top and bottom of the content is being cut off, in a way that wasn't an issue previously.
The printer control panel prompts for and accepts the media size correctly (I believe these printers have checks to ensure media fed matches the printable area; the Phaser engine doesn't like printing "off the paper").
Again, the same document has been used for many years, so I've tried the following steps to isolate and remediate the problem:
Document Setup: Custom Page Size, verify correct for media.
Print dialog: "Page Setup..." format for (custom media size defined for OS X), also verified to be correct for media.
Print dialog: "Setup", paper size Width and Height, correct; orientation correct, offset and gap 0p0, scale 100%.
    Print dialog: PPD correct.
Recreated document, re-entering sizes and verifying setup.  No change.
Created a test document, with same settings, and a scale extending outside of the printable area.  The specs for (and my experience with) the printer are that the printable area is 5mm from the edge of the paper.  The result of the test is that the content is cut off at 10-11mm from the edge instead.
Exported PDF from Id.  Printed using Preview, same OS X page setup configuration.  Printer prompts for correct media size.  Content in test file prints as expected, to 5mm from media edge.
Printed test document from Acrobat XI, using "Actual Size", "Choose paper source by PDF page size", and "Use custom paper size when needed".  Printer prompts for correct media size, content prints as expected, again, to 5mm from media edge.
So, in brief, exported PDF prints properly (and this is a workaround), but it's a pain that Id has this issue.  All software involved is up to date.  I haven't tried to dig into the PPD, as PostScript isn't one of my areas of strength, but I'm reasonably sure it's correct.  I've also tried a similar test using Letter-size paper, and that also prints to 5mm.
I'd love to get some feedback on this.  Many thanks.

For what its worth, I've been trouble shooting this issue with Adobe / Xerox / Apple for some time now. Here are my findings so far:
--------------------------------------------------Adobe's final response after a very long help ticket--------------------------------------------------------
This Email is in regards to the case related to the adobe application and Printing issue ,
As checked we were able to see that application  is able to create the document with correct size , when checked within Adobe Pdf properties the size was showing as per document specification and when we tried to print the same , the document was showing the same values carried forwarder to the printer and in the preview it was showing the same specific setting of the document size in the printer previewer
It was during the printing process the same value are not being calculated correctly as per our interaction ,  you were able to use the same in the previous version of Mac  10.8. 5 , please check if there is any update available for the 10.9 version of mac and if it would work on the same ,we would request you to contact your printer help support for the same we are leaving the case open and would request you to call us back if there is any further issue  on  800 833 66 87

--------------------------------------------------Xerox's response, after an escalated level 2 ticket--------------------------------------------------------
Here the Decline from 3rd Level Engineering.
    2nd Level Reference #: 19458297
    Customer Name: VDB REAL ESTATE
    Product Model: Phaser 7800
Problem Summary: Scale is incorrect when printing PDFs on custom size paper in OS X 10.9
    Decline Reason: App/3rd party Issue
Note: I tested using the included process steps:
    STEPS TO REPRODUCE-
    I tested using a PDF that was 6" x 8.5".
In Acrobat or Adobe Reader, choose File > Print, go to Page Setup and create a custom page size of 8" x 9.5".
In the Acrobat dialog, set the size to "Actual size".
Print this to the device, note that the image is about 7" x 10".
Interestingly, in the Acrobat dialog, if "Choose paper source by PDF page size" is selected, the previewed page size is not that of the document, but instead shows 10.13" x 7.17".  This size will change if different printers are selected.
Scaling is not an issue when printing to standard page sizes.
I was able to recreate the issue on a Mac running OS 10.9.1 using the Xerox 7800 print driver. I then tested on Mac OS 10.9.1 using a generic Postscript driver and also recreated the issue.  This indicated that this is not a Xerox driver issue.  I then tested on a Mac OS 10.8.5 using the same Xerox 7800 driver version and it worked as expected without scaling the image.
Mac OS 10.8.5 uses CUPS version 1.6.2 for printing where 10.9.1 uses CUPS version 1.7.  I believe this is a CUPS issue and you will need to work with Apple to resolve it.
You may appeal this decision by replying to this email and providing appeal details.

While using 10.92 with Xerox Phaser 7800DN (2.94.1 PPD - Installed via Software Update), PDF at a custom page size was sent to spool folder via Preview was correctly sized, however the document produced by Adobe Reader appears to be icorrect. When using Preview the PDF printed to a custom page size at 100% scale comes out the proper size.

  • Printing issues in CS4

We recently upgraded to CS4 from CS2 (Mac 10.5.7), and we've noticed a weird printing quirk that has never occured before. On two different Macs in our art dept, we have the occasional problem with files that were sent to one printer ending up on another. For example, our film outputter is run through a RIP program on a PC with 4 units. I just sent four files to Unit 2; two of the four files ended up on Unit 3. A coworker sent a file to Unit 3, and it ended up on a laser printer totally unassociated with the RIP. Neither of us ever experienced this problem running CS2. Also, for what it's worth, my coworker is running is software on Mac 10.5.5, so I don't think it has anything to do with any Apple updates.
We upgraded a couple weeks ago, but only just started utlizing the multiple artboards. I considered this as a cause (in some fashion), but some of the files I've sent had just a single artboard (also, this problem just started occurring within the last few days).
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you work around it?

Yeah, as you'll see in that other thread, this affected us here with CS3 running on 10.4.x  I'm disappointed to hear it's still happening in CS4...
It happened quite a bit when we first moved to CS3, but seems to have mostly gone away on it's own.  My cube neighbor says that he had it happen about a month ago, but other than that, I don't think it's happened other than that in the past 6 months.
Is there anything unique about the files that it's happening with?

  • Desperate!! Printer issues, Can´t print, can´t scan on my Mac Book Pro.

Have issues printing and scanning from my Mac Book Pro on a Epson Stylus TX110 printer/scanner. This printer used to work fine on my old windows based laptop. However. When tried to install the software from the original disk, on my new mac, got an error message that could not recognized the application (My guess is that software was old.)
Went to EPSON support website, located the drivers for my printer, TX110_scan_3730 GM2.dmg and TX110_115_653APS_C2_GM.dmg
Downloaded them and ran the script and went through the whole process of installing, it said it finished installing both applications, but I can-t find the printing applications or run the scanner...
Desperate... need to scan and print!

You ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below. If you use any iWork applications, you may need to delete them and redownload them from the App Store.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
