Are there any known problems upgrading to Mavericks using Aperture 3.4.5?

Are you asking if there are problems running 3.4.5 in Mavericks or if you have 3.4.5 now and upgrade to Mavericks and Aperture 3.5 are there problems?
The first case can;t happen you have to upgrade Aperture to 3.5, 3.4.5 won;t run in Mavericks.
As for the second case, most users have not had any major problems as long as they follow the upgrade guide; repair you library while you still have access to 3.4.5, make sure you have backups, etc.
However if you current setup using a NAS in the Aperture workflow you will need to rethink it. It appears that 3.5 will not even allow referenced masters on the NAS (the library always had to be local).

Upgraded to Mavericks now Aperture not supported

I finally upgraded to Mavericks, and now Aperture not supported and getting this message. No upgrades are available in the iTunes/App store either. Any suggestions?

If you did not buy Apeture from the AppStore, you can download an update to Aperture 3.4.5 from the Apple Support Downloads page:

Backup your Aperture library before you run the update installer and open Aperture for the first time. The upgrade from AP 3.2 to 3.4.5 will upgrade your Aperture library to a new format and that will completely rebuild the library. It is safer to have a backup. Aperture needs to be installed in the "Applications" folder, not a subfolder of Applications, and be called simply "Aperture" without any add ons.
After that try again to update to Aperture 3.5 from the AppStore. If you did not buy from AppStore, this update will change your Aperture licence to an AppStore licence, so be sure to sign into the AppStore with exactly the AppleID that you want to use for updatig and buying software.
For some posters here the Aperture 3.5 update was not visible, unless the primary sytem language was set to "English U,S," and the region to "United States". If you are living in a different country, try to change the "Language & Region" settings in the System Preferences and restart the system, before tring to update.
That should also trigger updates for the iLife apps and iWork.

I upgraded to Maverick's Aperture on an older machine.

Mavericks did not function well, so I had to revert to an older version OS 10.8.5 . but now aperture tells me that the library is in a newer version.
I have done both a rebuild and repair, it works fine, till starting up again, then the error message appears.

I do have genuine sympathy with your predicament, but blaming it all on Apple is not going to get you anywhere, you have to take some of the blame yourself.
Your backup strategy is not good. Having daily clones only means you have clones of potentially corrupt or unusable data. People need some longer term backups that let you revert to a working state. This is what time machine is for.
Even if you want to blame it all on Apple and switch from Aperture/Apple, your existing strategy could still bring you more trouble in the future. You really need to learn from this.
The forced obsolesence may seem frustrating, but it pretty much has to work this way for the sanity of all concerned.
Aperture is a non-destrutive raw processor, metadata based organiser, and image editor. It keeps huge quantities of data in a very complex inter-related system with enormous cross technology inter-dependencies (XML data, plists, sql databses, various caches, numerous OS frameworks, and so on). It is just not a simple document based editor (and even simple document editors can have trouble with backwards compatibility, warning you that some formatting will be lost if you don't use the latest file structures for saving).
It would be horrendously difficult to try to maintain database compatibility for all previous versions because the database structure and other elements change to support new features. Programming time and bugs would increase massively. Testing for the various combinations; eg a 3.5.1 library with 3.4.2 and 3.3.1 and 3.2.1 etc would increase exponentially with each version, as would the chances of your data getting corrupted by incompatibilities missed in testing.
The real issue here is Mavericks and your backup process. You made a decision to upgrade without the full ability to go back. And then you went back. Aside from the warning screen, what else could Apple have done to help?
Used a crysal ball when they wrote 3.4.5 so it would somehow know how to revert to an as then unknown format (3.5.1) back to 3.4.5?
Allow 3.4.5 to use a 3.5.1 database and potentially corrupt it?
Stop updating Aperture?
What is it you think they should have done?

Disk Utility not working after installing Mavericks.
I click on Verify Disk for my Macintosh HD and verification will only go as far as Checking Extending Attribute File and then shuts off.
When I click on Verify Disk for LaCie backup Disk the verification process completes and i get the green message "the volume LaCie appears to be OK"
Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be?

Try doing it from the Recovery HD, typically when it scans it has to unmount the hard drive of Macintosh HD. If you are in Macintosh HD it makes it hard to resolve or scan for issues.

this is my 3rd attempt to get answer. before it i tried 2 times but didn't get answered.
actually i m making a chat application. in that there is a canvas on which we can draw something and send it to all users. i make an applet and from within the applet i m calling a frame. all this awt components like canvas and buttons etc. displays in the frame. applet is just a platform do call the frame. i m using RMI to do the chat. i tried to run it first in appletviewer and it works fine. but when i tried to run in IE from <applet> tag no frame is displays. i am trying to solve it from last 20 days but still unsolved. here is the code if anybody wishes to try it.

Sorry that I cannot be too concrete about that since it has to be centuries ago when I fell over this problem.
As far as I can remember, the JDK provided by MS has no RMI built-in. These was probably one of the main reasons why Sun sued Microsoft concering its handling of Java.
Afterwards MS released a path for its Java Runtime that included RMI support, but AFAIK they never included it in the standard package. So much luck when searching for the ZIP! (-;

Problem upgrading to Mavericks

After downloading, I am asked to choose where to install. I am given two choices, my hard internal drive and an external hard drive used for backups. No matter which I choose, I receive a message "This disk is used for Time Machine backups." I am not allowed a next step.

You will need to do that repair while booted from a drive OTHER than the one your current OS is installed on. If you have install media, boot from that and run Disk Utility there. If you have a newer machine without it, reboot and hit either <Cmd-R> or <option> after the chime, choose Recovery HD for your boot volume, and then run Disc Utlity on your HD/SSD.

Latest problem - can't import using card-reader

In Bridge>File>Get Photos from Camera.....
App recognises there is card reader and card and amount of photos and then when asked to "get Photos", I get this message:-
"Adobe Bridge CS3 cannot obtain files from this device. Please ensure that the device is connected properly, or that the battery is charged, and try again."
What does this mean? - I am using a card reader, there are no batteries! There is never any problem when I import using Capture One Pro or iPhoto or LightRoom or Aperture with this method, so why now?

First check if you have the latest version for Bridge CS3 (it should be 2.1.1.9)
Then restart Bridge holding down option key to refresh the preferences. Then set the preferences again to your wishes and try again.
You should prefer a card reader for downloading images instead of directly from the camera. there are several threads with the reason why this is a better method.
Photodownloader can do this job, don't forget to explore the advanced settings :-)

After upgrade to mavericks, esata not working

I have a 2010 17inch i7 with eSata 34 slot.
The mac doesn't seem to recognize the esata slot.
Is this esata going to be fixed soon? How soon?

I am in the process of digitizing a few thousand LPs, DATs and even CDs. I scan all the covers and use them in a FileMaker database as well as iTunes.
Does it make any sense to get and use Aperture as the holding place for these? I know about Bridge and QPict and GraphicConverter has a nice browser too. But I'm thinking about the organizational abilities of Aperture as well as the nice image adjustment corrections it provides.
Is this overkill? Does anyone here use Aperture for managing images other than RAW photos?

Bridge I personally do not think much of.
Since you own Photoshop and Filemaker I would just use those two apps, scanning into PSCS2 for editing then copying into FMP. Build your keywords in FMP and have each image have a unique I.D. number. The full resolution scans live elsewhere, identified by the I.D. number.
Put each image into a FMP container field, but before copying into FMP first reduce the image size as much as possible for your needs to keep the DB as small as possible. Do note that once you start the process you cannot make the images larger; you need to go find the original for that.
FMP 8 has a way to reference images without importing them but I have not used it yet. That may be appropriate for your purposes so you should check it out.

When I try to zoom the text of an e-mail I received or sent , I can no longer use the keys Command + to enlarge the text, although I can reduce it with Command -.
As I have a problem with my eyes, This is a serious matter for me.
When I write an e-mail, if I select text and press Command +, it just displaces the text to the right.
Now, my husband has a USB keyboard. If he connects it to my computer, his regular Command + does not work either, but he uses the extended keyboard, then it works. Unfortunately, he needs it for a musical application which does not work with a wireless keyboard.

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.
My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".
Hopefully, they will fix Firefox 3.6 in the next version (e.g. Firefox 3.6.7), until then you should probably use "Firefox 3.5.10".
