Anyone else been scammed by Verizon Sales people?

I'm a new customer and I was told the edge program was the way to go. By paying the phones off per month, I wouldn't have to shell out any money up-front I suppose that's true. They also said my wife could upgrade her iphone 4 to an iphone 5s for 99 cents. They said my monthly bill would be $159 a month. They said I could get 2 verizon tablets for free with the current promotion.
As it turns out my wife's iphone 5s is going to cost me $549. My monthly bill is $270 ($159 plus the monthly cost of 3 new phones) And my free tablets are costing me $20 a month. I've been mislead and lied to. Over the course of 18 months, I'm going to be paying over $1200 more than I should have been. I know much of this falls on me for not reading the fine print, but the way that I was steered into the plan feels wrong. After looking through all my online and physical receipts, I still can't find the total cost of the phones anywhere. I had to call to get that information.
As soon as the 18 months is up, I'll go back to AT&T.

My family's plan had an extra activated phone for my grandmother. My grandmother has Alzheimer's and it began to affect her rapidly over the course of the past two years. She had no need for the line and when we went to go in to discontinue it (because it was up for renewal) the store employee said we could get it taken off if we updated another service. So we got a new tablet for renewal of the old tablet contract, and Bluetooth speaker.
After purchasing these things and going home, waiting a month and getting the bill, we noticed that the line was still on the bill and we had to pay for the line. We went to a local VZW store and after showing them the bill and asking about why they did not take the line off, the employees that helped us said that they have no memory or record of the line being removed. Our phone were not up for contract for another year, so just this week when they became renewed we finally got a line off of our service of having to pay for it for over a year.
We were forced to buy a speaker we didn't want, renew a tablet before its renewal date, AND pay for an entire line for over a year, because the in store customer service is un-trained.

    If these charges are being made to a credit or debit card, the most immediate thing you need to do is to call your credit card company or bank and report the unauthorized charges. That company can contact Apple if they need additional information.
    Next, log into your iTunes Store account and see if the purchases are reflected in the Purchase History. If they are, immediately change the password to your iTunes Store account, making sure it's not something easily guessed or looked up. Then go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
    and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store. 
    If the charges are not reflected in the Purchase History, then it's most likely a fraudulent charge to your credit card directly rather than an unauthorized purchase through your iTunes Store account and it will be up to your bank to handle.

I have been getting several emails for the past couple of days where it says how to reset when I never asked to do so. Is there anything that should be done about it?     After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an error with Safari. You may want to consider resetting your device, which is different from restarting. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
    Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    How to restart
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
    Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
    After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
    How to reset
    You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
    To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

    Yes, BUT...
    ... there are many problems that are really easy to eliminate by replacing the Hard drive, including ones that have nothing to do with actual Drive Hardware failure. These include corrupted install of Mac OS X, its EFI partition, clobbered partition tables, or the appearance of Bad Blocks in a critical area.
    Any of these problems can sometimes be eliminated by re-initializing the entire drive and writing Zeroes, and re-installing from scratch. The trouble is, this process takes hours to complete, and is not guaranteed to be successful -- you may still need a new drive after all that effort.
    I learned from my Plumber that consumers have no appetite for solutions that might work, and detest return visits for any related problems whatsoever. You or your friend may have had your drive replaced, not because it actually failed, but because the situation was troublesome, and the provider thought you would not tolerate anything less than a crisp, complete fix on the first attempt. And based on the cost of technician time, it may have even been cheaper that way.

    I have this problem too. I've had it downloaded previously on my 1st Gen iPad, so it even shows up on my "Purchased Items" list, but no icon showing any option at all ie, Download, Purchase, Open.
    Is it because the current version is not compatible with the iPad 2's latest iOS? If that is the case, isn't the App store supposed to serve the last working version??

    It works fine here.
    I noticed that I don't have /etc/php.ini, just php.ini.default.
    If I copy php.ini.default to php.ini, php does not work anymore, but if I just put
    date.timezone = Australia/Brisbane
    in /etc/php.ini and restart apache, it works fine and the timezone is OK in phpinfo().

    Last October I purchased a new Galaxy SIII. Had unlimited Data and a 250mb Canada data plan as I had unlimited Canada data plan and Verizon told me I couldn't have it anymore so they gave me 250mb. Was willing to accept losing unlimited data but not 250mb Canada data plan. Was told by C.S. that I would not lose 250mb. That after I purchased the phone I needed to call C.S. and they would put in the order to have to put back on. It had not been done before the 14 day return policy so I had to return the phone and was told I would have my unlimited data and 250mb restored,
    After SEVERAL calls to C.S. and 3 1/2 mths. later, and nothing but excuses it still has not been done. I finally received a call from a supervisor  last Sat. and was told they could not do it. That was their reason "that it can't be done". But she agreed that it should be. She said I did did everything correct but they wouldn't do it. Unbelievable  Told her I wanted to talk to her supervisor and she told me she was off and would call me on Tuesday. As usual no call.
    Seams like they tell you what they want you to hear to get you off the phone. Any suggestions???????????

    They lie all the time, as well as the sales people, and they should be exposed!  I am contacting 7 On Your Side to complain about not being notified when I upgraded that I would lose my unlimited data (I could have easliy waited or upgraded a different phone on my family plan - two phones on my family plan do not have unlimited data and I would not have lost anything).  Then I was charged a data overage fee for January and February in the month of February for excess data.  If I had known on my January bill that I was now being charged for data for that line I could have avoided charge in February.  I was told by customer service that the January charges just hit and that they do not get all the data charges timely depending on the different towers - are you kidding me with that explanation.  They are ridiculous with those young, inexperienced girls that are supposedly customer service.  They will not give their names to you when you ask, only first name so you can't expose them for their incompetence.  Also, when you ask for a supervisor they just give you someone else at their level that is just as incompetent after putting you on hold for 20 minutes.  When I asked to have someone of a higher authority get back to me, I was told they don't make outgoing calls - really you are a phone company.
    Everyone should leave this company.  They have no integrity and I plan on exposing them for what they are. By the way the excess fee was only $10 but they would not wipe it out, ridiculous.  I currently pay about $335. per month and I am on auto pay with Verizon.  Now I am shopping around thinking of Sprint more reasonable - probably same level of integrity, but I will be more careful.  Unlimited data though and all my phones will then roll at same time, they will also pay you for all your Verizon phones so in about 6 months I will be whole again and Sprint will get my money.  Penny wise,dollar foolish Verizon.

  • Anyone else having trouble with Verizon Webmail?

    Yesterday morning I found that I could not log into Verizon Webmail using Safari. I called Verizon FIOS Tech Support and they said there was  a system-wide e-mail problem which would take 4-10 hours to fix. I noted that I was able to access Webmail using Firefox, for which he had no answer.
    Nevertheless, I deleted all verizon.net cookies and rebooted but still have the same problem today (and Webmail worked on Firefox last night).

    YES!!  I've been having problems constantly for the past two days accessing my Verizon e-mail via the web browser interface.  I'm on a Windows PC running XP SP3.
    I contacted the on-line chat support from my FIOS account page, and the brilliant support person told me that they don't have the knowledge to handle FIOS related issues and offered to give me the phone number for FIOS support - HUH??   I used the link from the FIOS Support page, and they don't handle FIOS questions?  How **bleep** is that?
    The larger issue to me is, what does trying to access the Verizon webmail application have to do with FIOS?  I'm not at home trying to use my FIOS connection - I'm at work on the open internet - for all Verizon cares, I could be at an internet cafe, an airport PC kiosk, or anywhere in the world trying to get to my Verizon e-mail via the web - what does FIOS have to do with that?
    AAARGGHHHH - sometimes, customer support drives me batty !!!

    Yes.  My ordeal started with the pre-order debacle when they cancelled my pre-order for no reason.  I got the email notification and called the number they gave in the cancellation notice.  I was told that it was a glitch in the system and that my order was not cancelled.  She had to fill out some paperwork to help them gather data on who was getting these erroneous notifications but that my place in line was not impacted - still guaranteed to arrive on release day.  I explained how important this was since it was my 15 year old son's big birthday present.  No problem.  On release day, I checked my online account and it still showed that the order had been cancelled.  I called in just to make sure I was still on for delivery and was told that my order had been cancelled and there was nothing that could be done about it.  The rep told me that if I wanted one that day, I'd have to go stand in line at the Apple or Verizon store like everyone else.  There was no offer to help me jump in the line whatsoever.  As you can imagine, I'm really ****** now that I hear there was, in fact, a way I could have been helped.  I used to love Verizon.  I, too, have been a long time customer.  It seems they have been taking customer service notes from the likes of Comcast and Time Warner.  I have completely lost faith in their ability to take care of me as a customer.  Like you, I am evaluating options to leave this sinking ship.

    Despite a series of re-assurances from BT customer support that my broadband would not be handed over to somebody else on a different provider they have cut me off. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

    It's been another right royal saga with BT: you'll need a strong coffee for the full version!!
    It started with a text claiming to be from BT to the effect that somebody wanted to take over my phone line {because I was moving out and they were moving in}. Being wary of scams I phoned BT customer disservices to confirm there was to be no change. Following a long series of phone calls - each of which promised there would be no break in service they switched off the broadband. They also steadfastly refused to attempt to contact the source of the erroneous requests.
    A further flurry of phone calls resulted in them imposing a new phone number which worked (dont hold your breath) and further promises (yup - they were broken too) to re-instate the broadband. This was meant to happen via a phone call today. That phone call did not happen because they cut off the new number they had just set up - nor did they make any attempt to contact my mobile number.
    This evening I spoke to a lovely Liverpudlian lady who, over the course of 45 minutes could only suggest we sit and wait for the team referred to above as if she did anything she would probably make things even worse.

    I am completely frustrated with Verizon today. I have had them for years....in fact, the only cell phone carrier I have ever had. I have always been happy with them, and a loyal customer, and in the past their customer service was excellent. Now, it seems, its another story.
    I was eligible for an upgrade, and I understood I had to pay an upgrade fee. Being that I am a student, studying engineering with very limited funds, i was hoping that I could put the 30 measly dollars on my monthly bill.
    Apparently, since i was late a couple of months ago, they refuse. Even after I contacted customer service (online- as my phone bit the dust yesterday and even as an engineering student i couldn't replace it and felt confident Verizon would work with me), and told them i was thinking of switching, they refused.
    Thirty dollars or a lost customer? This is really poor service. All they would have to do is forego the billing and I could get a phone I could use, and i would be happy, as i have in the past. There seems to be no recourse. Has anyone else experienced this, and did you finally get Verizon to work with you? Or should i just go and "get more", as the T-Mobile adverts claim?

    Here is my goodbye story.  I finally upgraded from my no problem stupid phone to a "smartphone" LG Spectrum 2. Did this 2 weeks ago.  It made me late to work twice because it would shut off for no reason and if you didn't check it every second, like at 3am.......your screwed.  So they sent me a new one.  Fedex of course requires you to be at your door when they deliver or....so sorry.  I got the new phone.......on 4/2/13.  Today the screen quit rotating automatically.  55 minutes on the line with customer service.  Hard reboot of my phone..........ALL data GONE.  Pictures, messages, apps.............EVERYTHING.  So here is the best part.  Because my OTHER phone is still enroute.......Verizon refuses to send me out another phone.  Notice i didn't say new.  Nope, this time, 3rd times a charm, I get a refurbished one for the next 2 years on my contract!!!!!!!!!!!!  How about those apples.  I can switch to another phone........at full retail price.  I can cancel the line......$350 termination fee.  Or sit and wait for my other phone to be returned at which time they will fexex me the refurbished one and HOPEFULLY I am home when they come.  I asked to go back to my LG Cosmos........yup, you can do that.  If I do, I will not be able to reuse a smartphone upgrade as I already blew that........so if I go back to basic...........I am basic until 2 years from now.
    HOW IS THAT FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE?
