Anyone else having battery life sucked out of their iPhone since downloading new iOS update? I don't use the phone much yet it dies faster now.

The new update is killing my phone faster than before. Is there a way to fix this problem? I have shut off my location setting and lowered the brightness and shut wifi off when not at home.

Hello, Btchy.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Battery life can be difficult to troubleshoot as multiple factors contribute to how long a charge can last.  Graphic intensive applications, display brightness and data connectivity are just a few of the items that can cause the battery life to decrease rapidly.  I would need to know a little more information about your usage patterns and device type to give you and idea on how to maximize battery life.  However, here are some additional tips on how to adjust settings that may help.

Help is here to resolve this issue with your wifi connection 88DaveS. Lets try disabling your "Smart Network Switch". Select Settings> Wifi. The 'smart network switch' is in the advanced settings. Locate the Menu icon in the upper right hand corner > Tap Menu > Tap Advanced > Locate and ensure the check box is Unchecked next to Smart network switch. Let us know if this helps.

  • Anyone else having battery issues since updating to iOS 7?

After updating my iPhone 4S to iOS7, I noticed a horrible drain on my battery! From 100% to 62% in less than two hours... I have tried shutting off Bluetooth and even disabling refreshing background apps, and have my screen brightness set at less than 45% but it is still draining fast... Is anyone else having this problem and does anyone have any idea why?

Okay it seems I was right.
After I originaly posted here I unplugged my phone and let it drain to about 30% before charging it back up to full.  I went home and my 5 year old son and I played on it, including an pretty memory intensive human anatomy app for kids -- sometimges plugged in, sometimes not.  Used it A LOT last night, playing with settings, cheking out the new auto update feature, notifications, etc.  I didn't end up turning any of the new features off in settings, and even enabled a few new features.  Then, as usual, I plugged it in when I went to bed and let it run a clock/alarm program (Rise) all night.
This morning I drove to work (about 20 minutes) with turn-by-turn navigation running and a podcast playing in the background -- not plugged in to power.  When I got to work the battery showed 98%.  Leaving the phone unplugged, I have been playing that video podast for half an hour -- with a pause for a phone call set up by Siri -- and battery is currently showing 93%.
I think it's going to be okay.  Everybody breathe.

  • Anyone else having a problem sending mail from their AOL account?

Everytime I try and send an email from my Iphone it says my aol password is wrong.  anyone else having this problem?

YES, there are actually several posts about this problem today.  It seems that most of use are able to receive mail, and I was able to send mail until about 3 this afternoon.  AT&T reset my network settings, but that did not help.  I called AOL, but since I use their email for free and am not a paying customer, I couldn not get any help.  But I thnk it might be an AOL issue.  I am able to log into my AOL email on my desktop,so it's definitly a correct user name and password.

  • Has anyone else not got an email confirmation of their iPhone order

I preordered the iPhone 5 last night although I haven't received an email confirmation of my order. I talked to an online associate who said my order had gone through. Also, I checked the order status of it and it says that it is being processed and expected to ship next Friday. I'm just waiting for my email receipt but I haven't received one. Anyone else having this problem?

After you purchased your phone it should have said to wait 24 hours since there are many people ordering online

  • Is anyone else having battery problems?

I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 and up until about a week ago, life was perfect. My battery would last all day with normal usage and I would not have an issue. For the past week I have been having the problem of I would unplug it to leave for the day and about 15 min down the road it would already be at 85% and I haven't even touched it!!!
I don't have background apps refreshing and I don't have anything running on locations services that I don't absolutely need. WiFi is off and bluetooth is used in my car, but like i said, i've had that set up since I bought the phone and it's never been an issue.
The only difference i have noticed in my usuage is I am using iMessage more and more and people switch over to iPhones. But like i said I dropped about 15% battery life in roughly 15 minutes.
Is this a known apple issue with this latest update? I know some other updates had this issue.
    Please help!

For me, it has battery drain since updating. Before I went to bed last night I charged the phone to 100%. When I woke up this morning, it was sitting at 81%.

  • Is anyone else experiencing battery life issues due to iOS 8.1.3?

I know this may seem ridiculous but after having updated my iPhone 6, 64 GB to iOS 8.1.3, yesterday January 27, I noticed my battery isn't lasting anywhere near as long as it was before this.
Usually the way I use my phone by 5pm every evening, I have at least 65 - 70% battery life, today I'm at 44% and know for sure I've used it less than usual, which is why I came here.
I want to thank everyone who replies in advance.

I just started to google experiences from others today, as since upgrading three mobiles from 8.1.2 -> 8.1.3 (iPhone 5, iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 Plus) all of them suddenly died overnight.
Charged this morning all from 0% -> 100% and still things don't seem to be correct anymore. Based on below pictures the phones don't go to standby anymore? I haven't used at all iPhone 5 nor iPhone 5s today whereas I made some calls with iPhone 6 Plus. All of mobile were unplugged at 100% same time this afternoon.
First time this has happened, in case the mobiles, ALL of them, suddenly start to behave like this.

    I'm having no problem.

  • I bought a refurbished iphone 5 from Verizon. The battery has to be recharged every day. I don't use it very much, yet I always have to put it on the charger, why is that ?

I'm really annoyed that the battery in my iphone 5 loses it's charge so quickly, won't even make it through the day. I turned off some of the notifications and other features that I don't use but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

        mizzlizz70,
It is very frustrating when you have to frequently charge your phone. Help has arrived and we are able to assist with your battery needs. With a fully charged battery please dial #2539 and leave the line open for 10 minutes. An automated announcement will play. Review the current battery level after the test call. Let us know how much the battery drained.

  • Is anyone else having problems streaming Milk Music from their Samsung Gear S??

This is a great watch but one of the feature I bought the watch for is it's ability to stream music from Milk Music and receive the sound over the watch or through a bluetooth headset paired to the watch while running, walking or hiking so I don't have to carry my phone with me all the time. I watched and read a lot or reviews before deciding to make this purchase and this was one of the things that sold me on this watch. It works on all models except Verizon's Gear S. I have searched the internet and found it works fine on all other carrier models except Verizon's. Is this a problem that Verizon will address or Samsung?? Also I am within my 14 day return period and if I return it for this reason will it be treated as an accessory or a phone, basically will I be charged a restocking fee, don't think I should seeing how one of it's main features and main selling points don't work and not sure if it ever will. I also own a Moto 360 which will basically do the same thing seeing how the standalone features don't fully work on the Gear S on Verizon. This problem is only on the Verizon model of the Gear S, I've verified that. I heard it worked when it was first released but after the update at the end of December it stopped working. I really like the watch and would hate to return it but this an important feature for me and one of the main reasons I bought this watch over cheaper alternatives. PLEASE HELP!!!

The problem was fixed with an update on 1/22/15 to Milk Music so if you update it thru the Gear Manger it should work fine now. It does now play through the watch  as long as you turn off Bluetooth on the watch and have either a data or WiFi connection. Thanks for the fix it happened on the last day for me to return my watch I am so glad because now this is the most awesome watch available. GEAR S

  • HT5052 i am struggling to download new software update for ipad 2 using itune: The problem is that im getting an error saying time out!!! and when i start downloading again it starts from zero!!

The problem is that im getting an error saying time out!!! and when i start downloading again it starts from zero!!

Their alternative option is for you to bring it into the store
You could google and look for some download helpers (presuming they still exist, haven't used them in years) but they're freeware or adware that caches your download to help you recover from timeouts.
the timeout is possibly caused by your ISP, if they regularly cycle routers or the such it 'burps' your connection  causeing it to cut out.
You might try taking your laptop to your local library which may have wifi. Or, as the others have suggested, a friend's house with cable internet.

  • Better meter/life - anyone else having an issue?

I had the battery meter at approximately 50% when using the phone yesterday and it just turned off. The battery was completely discharged - no warning. Fwiw, this was after finishing a full charge 11hrs earlier, and probably 3 hrs of ipod/phone use during the day. Anyone else having battery meter and battery life issues? Thanks.

This is a problem that is known. Here are some things to try.
First: Do a restore on your iPhone through iTunes...It is located on the "Summary" tab when you have your iPhone synced in iTunes. (This performs a software and firmware restore)
Next: Be sure and check your Usage indicator located in Settings>Usage. If you have fully charged your battery and it doesn't indicate a time (i.e. 2hrs 0min) in the Usage panel but it shows "-" and says "usage time will be shown when iPhone is fully charged", then you need to return your iPhone at your nearest iPhone retailer to get an exchange (same day) or they will have to ship it to you through customer care.
