Anyone else misled by Verizon CSRs and even insulted by one?

@I tried to update to the lollipop OS.  It bricked my phone.  It powers up to an image of the dead android with a red triangle with a black exclamation point in the center, then it will turn itself off and back on to the dead android again.  I cannot find a direct line to speak to a customer service rep with Verizon.  I do not understand why a contact number is not given on the website.  I had to do an internet search for that information.  A refurbished phone is being sent as a replacement.
My father has Alzheimer's and if I am not with him, I have to be able to be contacted by the person caring for him.  This phone is useless.  I don't see this as an issue with Verizon, I see it as an issue with the phone and the phone manufacturer.  However, I have been given the runaround by customer service and they do not make it easy for their customers to contact them.
I was told the replacement phone would be sent to me via overnight delivery.  It did not arrive and I checked the tracking number and it was actually sent via 2-day delivery service.  I was told that I might be able to get a loaner phone, based on my situation, from a local Verizon store while waiting for the replacement.  I was later told that no Verizon store in my area has a loaner phone available.
The representative on the chat-support line told me that Verizon no longer offered  loaner phones.  This contradicted what I had been told by multiple people, all day.  He then said that I should ask a friend if they have a spare phone that could be used.  He said that would be the best option for a temporary solution, but only if I had friends that liked me well enough to loan me their spare phone.
This is the second time I have had to have a replacement phone sent to me.  I have a special needs family member and I cannot be without a phone.  His joke, though I see it as a joke and no personal malice was intended, was completely unprofessional and inappropriate.  I submitted the request for the chat transcript to be emailed to me, though the Verizon website.  I have not received the email of that transcript, either.  I remarked, in the closing survey, that I did not appreciate his remark and that it was in very poor taste.  I have not received any kind of reaction to my information given in that customer service survey.
I switched from Sprint to Verizon for the coverage and what I thought was quality customer service.  Whether intentional or unintentional, I have been misled and insulted by the company with whom I had chosen to do business.  I can and will make the choice to take my business to its competitor, now.
Does anyone know of an email address or link that I can use to get the details of my experience to someone at Verizon that can, at the very least, say the actions of their representative were not typical of their company?  I'm not trying to yell and scream until I get something for nothing.  My mind is made up.  I will take my business elsewhere.  I just do not feel that I should be insulted and treated in this manner because I am merely one of millions of customers and my business is not important to them.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I don't see this as a contradiction. You were told you MIGHT be able to get a loaner phone, not that you WOULD be able to get a loaner phone. This made no mention of Verizon's policy one way or the other. Possibly some locations have local programs to provide loaners where others don't necessarily have them. If it was Verizon policy to give loaners, ALL locations would have them. It is possible Verizon leaves it up to the local manager/store for that decision to provide such a program. You very well may be able to get a loaner phone from a Verizon location.

I don't see this as a joke, either, simply an attempt to help you out. I have loaned/given my old phones out to friends/relative MANY times in the past. I wouldn't necessarily give them out to just anyone, though, as I may actually need it in the future. What some see as a slight, other might not necessarily agree.

From your statements above, it sounds like you never tried to burn a CD for at least the first year that you owned the laptop, as it had a one year warranty on it. While you might have used it frequently to install software,  play DVDs, Blu-Ray disks, etc, that's unclear from your statements. Nonetheless, it might just be dirty-dusty. So, before deleting-uninstalling any software, and given they're cheap, try a CD-DVD Cleaner Disk first and see if that resolves your problems.
Let us know what happens. Good luck.

Since ios 7 I can no longer use google translate in safari.  I use this page every day to translate friends Facebook entries.  Anyone else having this problem?  And is there a fix?  Currently it is in my bookmark bar beside Facebook and worked fine until I upgraded top ios 7 a few days ago.

Go to your Google translate bookmark.
Type in a word then tap whatever language.
Make a select for the language to be translated to by tapping Dutch (or whatever language you see in the box all the way to the right. You should see a language menu.

Happy to report that iTunes Match has returned to working like normal on iTunes 10.7 on my computer today. If any iTunes engineers read this thread, I really appreciate the fix.
Has it returned to normal for you?

  • Anyone else found BUG with Photoshop and Lightroom capture time?

Has anyone else experienced this or can you replicate it?
    *The problem:
Changing the capture time of an image in Lightroom and then exporting to Photoshop causes a program error in Photoshop when saving.
    *My environment:
    Mac Intel - OS X 10.5.2 - Lightroom V1.3 - Photoshop CS3 10.0.1 - Canon 20D RAW files
    *Steps to reproduce
Import several RAW images in to Lightroom (tested using 20D RAW files)
Modify the capture time for one of the images
Export to Photoshop using Photo -> Edit in Photoshop CS3
    Change the image slightly
    File -> Save
You should get a program error
Try again but for an image with an unmodified capture time.
Can anyone else replicate this on Mac and/or Windows? Also what about CS2 and different RAW formats from other cameras.
Does anyone know what is causing it and is there a work around.
    Thanks

    Help, please.

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • VZW Messaging app continues to crash even after update, and several re-installs. Anyone else still having this problem, and know any fixes?

  • Anyone else displeased with Verizon?

Is there anyone else out there who is extremely displeased that after paying Verizon thousands of dollars for bad service they now refuse to unlock my Razr Maxx phone so I can use it on another network where I can actually receive calls?  Motorola says my phone will work on AT&T's network and all I need is for Verizon to give me the unlock code.  One Verizon employee told me the phone is not locked.  At a Verizon store I was told they simply do not unlock phones. Maybe it is just ignorance! Their attitude and actions cause me not to be surprised that on visiting three AT&T stores and two Verizon stores yesterday there was hardly anyone in the Verizon stores and standing room only in the AT&T stores? Duh!

Your phone is selling now on swappa.com for somewhere between $105.00 and $140.00.  I suggest you sell it there and you can turn around and spend that money on the at&t or other carrier of your choice,  I have sold many phones on swappa and I have also purchased phones there with out issue.  They check all the phones IMEI numbers out to make sure they are phones that age good to go on the carrier.  The nice thing about doing this is you don't end up with a contract with a carrier and in many cases somewhat less cost to your for the service they provide.  From what I have seen existing customers of most providers get little or no customer service.  You are best off to not deal with those phone stores unless you have to deal with them or their web sites as well.  I have learned to do most of what I need for myself and I am very satisfied with the phone service I get on VZW it works where I live and the places I frequent when I travel.  Neither at&t or TMOB work where I live.  We have one other local carrier that will work here but when I travel and get to far away from my home I am paying roaming charges.  As far as those other carrier stores having customers waiting in line out the door, don't know where you live but I don;'t see that happening around here or when I travel.  You must have mistaken the carrier stores for a Wal Mart or some other store.

  • Anyone else with a Magic Trackpad and a MacBook Pro?

So I just got the Magic Trackpad thinking I would have the same experience as my internal trackpad, only on my desktop. But I was wrong...and was wondering if anyone else noticed this...
I love the multitouch gestures, but it just feels so weird. Maybe the pad is too large?
The main problem I have with it is the click. it does not seem to "click" very much. I was bummed to see that the clicking is done all my the little two feet.
If you compare the click to the internal trackpad compared to the external Magic Trackpad, there is a big difference. The MBP click is more "clicky" and easy to do. The Magic Trackpad is more harder to click. Almost mushy. It is quieter though. But I almost prefer the loud CLICK sound from my MBP.
I also found there are two things you can do to change the performance of this click issue. You can either put things under the two feet (like I used two coins) and that kind of helps it clicker deeper, but then it slides around on your desk. (I'm going to look for those little stick-on rubber stoppers like you put on your kitchen cabinet doors to see if that helps any) The other thing I've tried is just using the tap to click and raising the trackpad up so the feet don't even touch the table. Now there is no "click" at all. The touch to click works fine, but then when it comes to cretin things when you are used to clicking, it just doesn't work out.
So my question is, has anyone else noticed this? Maybe I got a defective pad and that is why I am having such a hard time clicking?
I welcome any comments, reviews, etc. relating to this Magic Pad click issue.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I recently got a Magic Trackpad. The click pressure was too much so I set it to tap to click and liked it, although it was a little too sensitive for me and I don't know how to set the sensitivity.
Now I went on a trip with only my older MBP and I find it is extremely sensitive, I constantly find I seem to have clicked where I didn't intend to. The system preference doesn't have the option to turn the tap to click off without the trackpad connected.
    I consider this a bug!
    Am I wrong?
When your Magic Trackpad is on and connected to your MBP the settings for it will appear in system preferences.
If you turn off your Magic Trackpad to disconnect it from your MBP, the the settings that show up in System Prefs are for the INTERNAL trackpad.
Kinda confusing. They should just have two tabs at the top where you can set different settings for each trackpad.

  • Is anyone else having issues getting screensavers and the lock screen to work after installing Mavericks?

I recently installed Mavericks and now my computer refuses to lock after sleep. Instead of a box that asks for a password to access the computer again, it just opens up back to where it was before sleep. In fact, I can't even get my screensaver to work. I have the screensaver set to one minute (to attempt to get it to work) and it wouldn't even come on. The sleep/lock screen is set to ask for password as soon as it's woken. Same goes for when I open my laptop after it's last use. No password, just instantly on. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, how can I fix it? Thanks!

I had the exact same problem.. and thank you for the answer..
It actually makes sense, but I had the 'bouncing camera' problem and never thought of the 'slide'..
    Dohhhhh
    cheers for the post

  • Anyone else watch the press conference and see where apple is coming from?

I have done my share of complaining, but after watching the press conference I have to say that I am drinking the kool-aid and back on Team-Apple. No other company would have done half of what apple did today....they did their homework and presented a very strong case.
Anyone else want to drink the kool-aid with me?!

I have never stopped drinking it. I followed the Macworld Blog on the conference as it was happening and watched it as soon as I got home. I could tell that Steve was a little bothered by the media storm. It was really nice to have the hard data presented. Research before reaction is the best approach and he let the news media have it. Only 22 days, what other company responds that fast!
Seems like there would have been more media reporters there considering how they have all had something negative to say. But they don't want the facts they just want to use Apple to up their ratings and get more readers and stir it up
Now to see what minute detail that would shed a bad light on Apple will be presented the next few days. Like the iP4 drops more calls than the 3gs, even though it is less than 1% more.
Consumer Reports gives the iP4 the highest smartphone rating, then gives the negative antenna review, then says the Bumper solves the issue and then says that they still can't recommend it. CR must now go back and say they can't recommend any smartphone as they all have this antenna issue. Bet they will not do that.
This phone rocks! It is sleek and fast. It is an amazing piece of hardware. I have not dropped a call yet and the uploads are blazing fast.
The pictures of the Apple test labs we wonderful. Seemed to really show how much research is done. The CR labs were a joke compared to Apples.
So, just don't put your hand/finger over the X or get a case and you have the best smartphone known to man.

  • Has anyone else been charged 3 times by iTunes Store for one purchase?

I made a purchase last night on Apple TV only to find out that Apple iTunes charged me three times for it. Anyone else have this issue?
I suggest everyone that is purcashing from iTunes and Apple TV that you check your bank statement to make sure you aren't being charged TRIPLE for what you've bought.

If you didn't click the buy button 3 times then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
