Anyone else tired of useless, lazy programmers?

OK, so I'm trying to get through some issues with Data Guard. I'm getting there. But it seems as though every time I turn around, I get an error message like this:
" ORA-16737: the redo transport service for standby database "ONBDG" has an error"
Well, thank you, Sherlock. I realize it's a bit of trouble to actually be really helpful, but COULD YOU POSSIBLY TAKE THE ADDITIONAL STEP OF TELLING ME WHAT THAT ERROR IS?!?!?!?!?*
It's like talking to the WORST END USERS IN THE WORLD EXCEPT THAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION+

It's the same thing in OEM. It says, "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied." Great. COULD YOU POSSIBLY TAKE THE ADDITIONAL STEP OF TELLING ME WHAT PROCESS ON WHAT NODE IS TRYING TO LOG INTO WHAT USERID ON WHAT INSTANCE*
Worse yet, if you click on the link it provides, you get, "Data Guard Internal Error : See the OMS log for details."
Well, THANK YOU SHERLOCK.  I ALREADY FIGURED THAT OUT.  COULD YOU POSSIBLY BE BOTHERED TO GET SOME DETAILS AS TO THE NATURE OF THIS ERROR?*
What is the point of making a CLICKABLE LINK if all you're going to do is point me to a LOG?
The Website is the same way. You put in an error code looking for some explanation, and most of them just repeat the text that the original error message gave to you. COULD YOU BE A LITTLE MORE LAZY?  MAYBE JUST TELL ME THAT YOU CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO ACTUALLY GIVE SOME INSIGHT AS TO THE NATURE OF THE ERROR*
Oracle may be popular because of its performance, but as for it's support and error reporting, it's horrible, it's immature, it's lazy, and it's ditzy.
And it's probably that way because they know they can get away with it.

I am also upset that choices on warranty used to be available - no more. Now they tell me that the base warranty is included and I can upgrade at a later date - but again, no real prices to work with. It used to be that there'd be a sale for a week or so - now they tell me deals are based on the number of "coupons" available and can end at any time.
    I am very disappointed with the purchasing experience and am really having doubts about buying direct from Lenovo. Thanks for listening to my venting!

  • Anyone else tired of the "Do Not Disconnect"?

    Is it just me or would many of you like myself like to have an ipod update that changes the "Do Not Disconnect" screen to a nice progress bar.
    I dont know about you, but I think this would solve a lot of problems. Just think of all of the users disconnecting before the screen even changes. Perhaps if there was a progress bar, users would be able to see an estimation of the time remaining.
    This is a Very needed update.

    I do not believe that you fully understand what the 'Do Not Disconnect' message means in all cases.
    If you use your iPod with Disk Mode Enabled, then the 'Do Not Disconnect' message will be present on the screen even if there is nothing being transferred to it at the time. It will remain on the screen until you manually eject it.
    A progress bar would be useless in this regard, since there is no progress to monitor.
    The 'Do Not Disconnect' message works perfectly as it is. I do not see any reason to change its behavior.

    It is required that all smart phones have a data plan. Read the customer agreement. If you add a smartphone to a non smart phone line ATT has the right to add a data plan. All smartphones use some data, it's unavoidable. As soon as the loaner phone connected to the network, the IMEI registered with ATT and they knew you had a smart phone on the service.
    You can reduce the data plan on your husbands line. You can also remove data once he is back on a basic phone.
    As for your data use. Look in your phone settings. It will tell you exactly how much data you are using and which apps are using data. If your phone says 7 GBS then you used 7 GBS.
    Once you see what uses the data you know what to cut back on.

    Adobe created DNG, which is a well-documented backwards-compatible format, which is free for any manufacturer to use.

It has PRECIOUS information that illustrate my point: Adobe DNG is an attempt to stop the OpenSource community from achieving the goals of OpenRaw, which is TRUE OPENNESS, Again, Adobe is trying to get manufacturers to PAY LICENSING so they use a PROPRIETARY FORMAT that will HOLD CUSTOMERS on a PAID platform. OpenRaw is he answer for a true competitive environment.
    Ask yourself why other manufacturers don't use a documented backwards-compatible format.
    - Easy, because they are lazy and want kick-back. The SAME answer that I (and the entire OS community) would give if you asked about Acrobat or MS Office.
    If you use a particular piece of software as your main tool, and you buy a camera which isn't yet supported by it, it's your problem. There is an expression used in the industry:
    "Poor Planning on your part does not constitute an Emergency on my part."
    - I agree here, it's MY PROBLEM that I decided to have a better product, it was my choice. I can still use OS Tools, which will be what I do moving forward, and about that expression, that is EXACTLY why Adobe will keep loosing customers, because the sense of urgency to help who pays their bills is inexistent. You are correct, why should they rush something so simple to help a customer right? Screw the customer... Thanks for making my point...

    ever since Apple went from mobile me to icloud my passwords do not work for either itunes or icloud. when I try to update my apps on my iphone, it won't accept ANY of my passwords, not itunes, not icloud, nothing--anyone else have this issue? If so, anyone know how to fix it as Apple staff has been useless.

    Hello All,
    I was just wandering if anyone else has experienced this.
    Day one of owning my new 20" iMac Core Duo everything is
    going just fine, I am really liking it. Then I notice something strange.
    When scrolling though my start page right dead center of the screen,
    the text looks as if it is going though water. I said to myself
    your eyes must be tired. But no, I am I seeing it.
    I called Apple, Suport has not heard of this one as of yet.
    He has me reset the pram that did not work. He recomended
    that I bring it in to be looked at. So I brought
    it back to where I purchased it because they are an Apple
    service center. The service guy told me it would be better
    to just get an another one, rather than be out a
    computer for maybe three weeks or so. I agreed, because
    at that point I had not done much other than set up my
    mail accounts. So I took my second new 20" iMac Core Duo
    home and set it up. You guessed it, the same thing is happening.
    Except this time I notice that when I scroll using the long scroll
    bar it happens, but when using the arrows and or the scroll
    on the mouse it does not. I think this is a bug, but I can not be sure.
    Does anyone know of this and have a fix or opinion?

    I spoke with an Apple Tech today and that the issue
    is being seeded. So I think there will be a fix in the
    near future.

  • E:\ error message.  Has anyone else had this error?

    I get the following error as soon as I plug in my Shuffle. I have had this problem almost a year and I've taken my suffle into the store, had it restored several times. It works fine at the Apple store but when I get it home this is what I get. I cant use my shuffle and it's killing me. Even calling Apple tech support was useless... after waiiting on hold for an hour the guy basically said he didn't have any idea how to fix this.

Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location."
    Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve this? I appreciate any and all suggestions. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes several times as well.

    You could be having a drive collision with another device on your computer. Connect your Shuffle to a rear port on your computer, then connect your keyboard and mouse. Disconnect ALL other USB devices including printers, thumb drives, scanners, modems, digital cameras, external hard drives, infinite improbability drives, etc. If you are on a network, disconnect from the network.
    Now change the drive letter on your iPod. Use something much higher like M or P or Z, unless you have another device that uses this letter:

  • I recently updated my iTunes to the new version. For some reason the titles and details of songs on the SONGS page do not appear, although the songs will play. Has anyone else had this problem? Every other page seems to be ok.

Although there are no details showing on the songs page, the songs are obviously there as when you click on a line it plays the song that should be listed. Has anyone else had this problem? It is used at most 10 hours per week... mostly using Office 2004 for MAC. I need to figure this out as I will soon need it as a Cs2/CS3 - Aperture workhorse.
    I too agree that it is best not to use a sledge when a scalpel is needed... but as a novice to the MAC world I may have been misled by Apple support. I seems to have fixed the symptoms ( some) but appears NOT to have addressed the cause... which is what I am after.
    Would TechTool Pro detect a bad HD or RAM?

  • My iPad less than one year old, had battery fault , taken in and replaced.  Is the replacement new, no I don't think so but a refurb one. Also don't get another year warranty?..  Has anyone else had this?  Not happy

Old be three years old....why isn't it being replaced with a new one, with a new warranty....of another year.?  As they have only given me 90 days... Makes me wonder why.?...     A warranty replacement can be a new or refurbished unit as specified in the warranty terms.
    A warranty replacement will have warranty for the balance of the original term or 90 days, whichever is longer.
    All perfectly normal.

  • My apps have disappeared from purchase history in Mac App Store. Anyone else had this problem?

    If I open the Mac app store and click 'Purchases' my apps have disappeared. i've spent a fair bit of cash on Aperture and other apps, so I want them back
    I've raised a support ticket with Apple but that's been completely useless. They told me to see if the app is still on my iPod (thanks for reading the question!) and kept telling me how to fix my iTunes login. I'm still waiting for a solution.
    Anyway, I've signed in and out of the Mac App Store several times, I've signed in and out of iTunes several times, all with no luck.
    Anyone else had this issue?

    Help I lost the recipt from my $25 dollar app card and part of my redemption code got sratched off now it is illegible, anyone else had this problem? And were you able to redeem the card with help from app store support? I already went through the support process just waiting for my e-mail from them but it could take up to 48 hours...

    Thanks for your reply, but I guess whether this was a silly question is a matter of opinion. That is the whole purpose having these forums...so that people can post their questions, silly or not. Maybe you are an Apple expert or have "techy" knowledge, but I don't. So what may be silly or stupid for you, can be completely different for a novice apple consumer like me. If you must know, I did do my research, and I did do the basic trouble shooting.All to no avail. I took my phone to the apple store, had it diagnosed and was told some very inaccurate information. I ended up going back today, and got a second opinion. This person actually took the time to talk to me and to better explain Applecare and my warranty. She also told me that there is no such thing as a "break in" period, and when there is a shutting down issue, even after a "restore" that it was better to get it replaced. Which is what she did. She replaced my phone. Obviously, the first person, by his own admission, was too tired and ready to go home to actually take the time to explain and offer other options...

  • Has anyone else discovered that their MacBookPro has been set up for 'no available users' and so cannot use any new applications?

    I've had my MacBook Pro for several months. Sadly I've not been able to use it for my work (I'm a  writer) as I couldn't open my software, Final Draft. I installed it several times, uninstalling it each time to avoid glitches, but every time I tried to open it I had an error message, that the permissions had to be reset. I went onto disk utilities and did everything I could to reset/repair. I spent days and weeks on the phone both to Apple and to Final Draft, but no one could help.
    Apple were adamant that it was a software error and so today I bought yet another version of Final Draft (£140), this time from the net, and downloaded that. Same old same old. Once again, over and over,  I followed the  'trouble shooting permissions' advice on the Apple website, still no luck. Finally, finally, tonight, a technician was able to take me through an obscure routine which ended up with the message that my laptop had been set up with 'No Available Users'.
    In effect it's a useless piece of metal and has been from day one.

    I'm not sure that I followed everything, but you got a replacement phone and continue to experience problems? It sounds like a logical move would be to have AT&T replace your SIM card. I would doubt that the size/fit is an issue, these things are a standard size, but replacing the SIM will have an impact on the network set-up that might be the root cause.

    When I installed firefox, it asked if I wanted to use safari settings and I said yes but I think this might be causing the problem. Safari is no longer compatible with citrix ica client. When I reinstalled firefox it automatically installs the safari info. Does anyone know how to re-install firfox without installing safari info?
