Anyone had luck in Australia getting Lojic board replaced?

Hi I hear apple are acknowleding the whinning problem... I called the place I bought it in Melbourne, and they said 2 weeks minimum to replace.. anyone know where it could be done quicker?

It took ahout 2 weeks for me to get a new logic board - but this was in June and the 'problem' of random kernel panics was not acknoweldged then...
The repair guy wanted to see for himself that there was a problem, and only then would he get whatever part(s) was/were necessary.
In some ways it was worth the wait - the prevous logic board was driving me nuts, and this one has not missed a beat - and none of the other problems (whine etc.) either.

  • Augmented Thesaurus and 'About' queries - Anyone had luck with this?

    Hi:
I'm trying to find the magic combination of things that make About queries find RTs, BTs, NTP etc. in "About" queries using an augmented thesaurus. Has anyone had any success with this? Perhaps I am just wrong in what I expect About queries to return hits on. Perhaps I am not clear as to the specific format rules of the thesaurus file? I'd appreciate hearing from those who use this capability. I'm using 10.1.0.3

    Hi guys
Now I set the wholething up with nvidia card. I have been using linux from around 96 onwards and at first my 512kb matrox card was amazing. Now I have a 512mb card ! what a change. Any I am impressed that xorg does not need a config file. That is a long way and a good job. Also the new xfce and fluxbox types are so much more polished than the cde and twm.
I did not try to save all the xorg logs. I have two desktops and when ever I tried intel or intel-newest drivers the new desktop always hung. So I used to go from the old desktop and ssh in to the test rig. If the xorg windows showup then xorg logs show that they are using vesa and resolution looks as it does for vesa! However this only happened when I used legacy drivers. With any other it just does not show anything and it does say loading intel driver and IIRC 915class.
I suppose I should have persevered and made it work for the sake of trying but let it slide as I always liked the stability of nvidia and just went back to them for 30 bucks.
    Thanks

  • Has anyone had luck with PFD for C/O?

i have two unpaid charge offs that are pretty recent. I was wondering if anyone has been able to get them deleted? If so, did you have to pay the entire balance?

I'm not sure. I'm brand new to this. I have a Chase CC that was Charged Off but it still lists as late with a balance of $10k. I also have a Wells Fargo CC charged off saying late with a balance of $4k.  Im trying to get these deleted but I currently only have $3k to payoff my debts. Any advice?

  • Has anyone had luck streaming videos using Brightcove?

Are videos are located on a video server hosted by Brightcove in MP4 format. Using a web object in Captivate 8 we are able to embed the url and view the project fine. Once we publish and upload to our LMS, the course crashes once the url is encountered.
Has anyone had any success out there?

Just in case anyone else has this issue, we resolved it simply by changing our browser setting to allow mixed/unsecure content which for the time being allowed us to identify the issue.

  • TS4088 Has anyone had luck getting Apple to fix the known GPU issue on mid-2010 MPBs that are 2-3 months out of warranty?

My MBP has started shutting down randomly and seems to be related to this known issue: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088
The problem is, it started happening right around the 3 year mark, when this offer seems to expire. It is around the same time Mountain Lion was installed and seems to have made it worse.
I brought it in to an Apple Store and the diagnostics have told me I need to replace the Logic Board which is almost $600.
It feels super unfair as this is a known issue, and Mountain Lion seems to make this issue much worse. The MBP is now 3 years 3 months, and I brought the MBP in to the Apple store about a month ago.
    Anyone?

I had just read about this a few weeks ago, and was also very upset that not only had the coverage expired, but that I was not made aware that this was a known issue. I had been dealing with this issue ever since Lion and it was getting worse. I set up a Genius Bar appointment, and they decided that it was the logic board, and that because it was almost 6 months out of coverage, I would not have to pay the retail $500+, but still have to pay a discounted $310 to get it replaced. They were relatively sympathetic, but couldn't do anything more that to say that I try calling AppleCare, because they would be able to bend the rules more than the Apple Store.
I called right after I left the store. I pleaded with the first guy, staying professional but stressing that it was a little unfair for the reasons listed above. He eventually transferred me to human resources vs. his supervisor, because he said that they may be able to get me farther. I was on the phone on and off of hold for an hour, and they eventually agreed (after some internal research of their own) that it was a known issue large enough to cover the replacement for free. I was setup with a new Genius Bar appointment and got my MacBook Pro back within 2 days of dropping it off. Overall, it was a time-consuming process, but definitely worth the effort.
Now I am dealing with similar glitches, leading me to believe that the new logic board is having the same issues as the old one, but luckily it is under a 90 day warranty so I will take it back and see what they decide to do.

  • AirDrop. Has anyone had a problem with getting this program to run consistently?

I have had numerous case openings with this product. I love it when it works, but for some reason, my mac and mac book pro can no longer see each other when the application is opened. Both are running the current 10.8.2 upgrade and both are between 2-3 years old and air drop is supported on both. No one has been able to figure this out! I've gotten to the point where I absolutely need this program because of its simplicity and speed in transferring big files like adobe illustrator files for example. Please help!!

Review your hardware again from Apple's AirDrop criteria here.
Supporting information on AirDrop usability and workflow. It uses Wi-Fi. Do you have Wi-Fi interference when it isn't working the way you expect?
If you would like to enable AirDrop for wired and wireless, here is an article that shows how to do that from the command line in Terminal. This side-steps any issue where the machine has wireless deemed to old for AirDrop support.
And here is a Bash script that I wrote to implement the above wired/wireless AirDrop solution. Copy and paste this into a text editor. Save it as airdrop.sh. Make it executable, and run it as: ./airdrop.sh ON
    #! /bin/bash
    # airdrop.sh - turn on or off the AirDrop feature in OS X.

  • Anyone Had Luck With Shape Tracking?

I'm trying to use the shape track to rotoscope a moving car from it's background. I can get the basic deal to work, but after a couple of seconds, the mask is way off the mark. I used Analyze Motion to get a few good track points and loaded that into the Tracking behavior for the mask. Are there any tricks to get this to match up better short of have nice tracking markers in the footage?
    Thanks.
    (Motion 3.02)

    Howdy,
It depends on the quality of results you expect to get from automatic mask tracking. Decent roto-masks always require a decent amount of manual intervention, even in the best of tracking circumstances. This is why every major visual effects studio has a sizable roto department. Tracking can get you in the neighborhood, but you'll still need to do tweaking to get a quality result.

  • Anyone had luck with the Samsung 830 SSD?

    Opinions? Rumors? Problems?

    I've used it before....No issues......
It's also the same drive that apple uses on their Retina Macbook Pro - SM256E and SM512E.
Problem happens when installing them in an older Macbook/Macbook Pros. (2009).
It's a good drive and one of the fastest out there.
It's also currenlty the best one for using the lowest power comsumption.

  • Has Anyone had the -VMCpuCoreMHz variable in New-OrgVDC work?

It seems like the variable -VMCpuCoreMHz is broken when you try to use it when creating a new OrgVDC. The following error is thrown when you attempt to use it:
New-OrgVdc : Parameter set cannot be resolved using the specified named

Anyone had luck using the AllocationModelAllocationPool and this variable?? The documentation seems to indicate this variable can be used for all VDC's for New-OrgVDC but when you look at set-orgvdc you get this:
"This parameter is only applicable to the Pay As You Go resource allocation model."

I see the same thing, and at first I though maybe there was some kind of magnet affecting the screen.
The only other thing I could think of is maybe having damaged the screen somehow.
In my case it goes all the way across the bottom but is stronger on the left...
It seems very apparent when something white is opened up, but does not seem there when its a darker color or when a window is not infron of it (dont see it on the desktop background) which leads me to think it is there due to software...
I dont know though and would like to know why it is there..

  • Does anyone know where I can get replacement case screws?

I've got a 12-inch PowerBook 867MHz that I've had for 3.5 years, so there's no more AppleCare on it.
My Hard Drive just died on it, and in the process of getting into the case to replace the drive, I discovered that the screw under the F11/F12 key was seized and ended up stripping the head of it while I was trying to remove it.
So, I've got two problems now:
    1. Does anyone have any ideas of how to remove the screw?
    2. Does anyone know where/how to get replacement screws for a 12-inch PowerBook?
    Thanks!

Does anyone know where I can get a couple replacement screws (in case this happens again) and how much it would be?
From what I know, the screw is narrow/thin, small and black. Also if anyone knows the measurement of the screw that would be great!
    Hi,
I suggest to buy laptop screws from ebay. There are plenty of them for cheap.

  • Getting Verizon to replace router with Hardware Verizon D

I  can not set up WPA encryption because I have hardware version A router and not D.  I just got this router last week when my original router was fried in a storm.
Has anyone had luck getting Verizon to swap an A for a D?

Did your original rotuer support WPA? If so, I would call and say the rotuer they sent doesn't support the same things as your previous.

  • Can I get my screen replaced for free?

At a New Years Eve party I was riding my little cousins Green Machine bike thing and I turned a corner and I had my iphone 4 in my front pocket and I turned a corner and it slipped out and hit the concrete ground. It has a shatter place at the top left corner on the white part on the front then it continues down to the home button, and across the top of the screen. I didn't have my Otter Box on it but I put it on after that happened. It covers up the shatter on my screen but thats pretty much it. I've been seeing people on here that has been getting there's replaced for free, so I was wondering if I could get my screen replaced. I don't have the Apple Care thing but I know that I have the Apples Warranty until December 16, 2012. Does anyone know if that covers getting my screen replaced for free or anything? I reallly need a new screen, I just don't want to spend a fortune on it! Please help!!!

Warranty does not cover accidental damage and I  would rate your chance of a free replacement as close to zero
Nobody can stop  you asking but don't be offended when they refuse
You will likely be charged for a refurb replacement which in US as an example is $199 for a 4S and $149 for all other iPhones
