Anyone try to put their iPhone sim in another phone?

Has anyone tried to put their iPhone SIM into another phone yet? Does the phone work? Does it get data? Can you get voicemail? etc?
I put the Apple iPhone's sim into my Blackberry curve and the Curve would never show "EDGE" it would only get to "edge". The lowercase "edge" means that it can't send/receive data. The phone portion worked fine.
Wondering if anyone has been able to take the iPhone SIM card and put it into a RAZR/Treo or something and see if it can access the EDGE data network.
I

It is not recommended but possible. You will still have access to the data network and have unlimited data so you don't have to worry about being charged extra. However you will be forced to use normal voicemail, the visual voicemail feature will not work on another phone.
Also, don't loose your sim. You can take the iPhone sim and put it in the razr, but can't take a Razr sim and put it in the iPhone.
And the type of internet (edge/umts/gprs) is determined by the type of device you are using, and of course the network you are on. if the device only uses edge, you won't be able to boost it to WiFi, etc.

  • Anyone try to put their iPhone SIM into their old Blackberry?

I was wondering if anyone has tried to put their iPhone SIM card into their old Blackberry and if they were able to send/receive data.
I was previously on a Blackberry Unlimited plan (BES) with at&t and when I put my iPhone activated SIM card into my Blackberry Curve now the connection shows as "edge" instead of "EDGE". I can not send/receive any data.
The phone portion on the Curve works fine but the data does not.
AT&T told me that if I wanted to restore my Blackberry Unlimited data plan I would have to send them my IMEI number for the Curve and they would "reformat" my SIM card. However, that SIM card would not work in my iPhone after that.
I have heard that people are able to send/receive data on their old RAZRs with iPhone formatted SIM cards but it is strange the way it won't work on my Blackberry.
Anyone else have experience with this?
Anyone have a suggestion for someone that wants to be able to use the Blackberry for business trips but the iPhone when around town and on weekends?
The irony here is that I actually WANT to pay at&t more $$$ per month since the Blackberry unlimited plan is $45 per month, while the iPhone is $20 per month. I am no economics major but most companies would probably want an incremental $300 per year if they could get it.
    Thanks in advance.
Oh, and FWIW, I love the iPhone as does my wife. She actually called me at work today and the first words out of her mouth were "I love my iPhone" (she has hated and denied all previous attempts of mine to get her a 'smartphone'). The iPhone allowed her to dial a phone number on her phone while sitting in her car and then choose "handsfree" on the screen which seamlessly transferred the call to the car's bluetooth system. She prefers this option to the "maddening experience of trying to get the car to understand her voice commands (lol!)".

That's what I figured. Thanks for the reply. Just seems odd that they wouldn't want to allow someone to "downshift" to the iPhone with a higher priced data plan if they were willing to pay the extra $25 per month.
I love my Curve but I love my iPhone more.
Thanks again for the quick response. Really appreciate.
If anyone from at&t happens to see this and knows of a workaround for those of us that would like to be able to swap back and forth with a Blackberry until Apple gets the corporate email connectivity functionality, please let me/us know.

  • Can i use my iPhone sim in another phone?

My iPhone wont turn on! Ive tried holding the two buttons for up to 5 minutes at a time and putting it on the charger and Nothing
I was thinking can i take out my Sim card and put it in another phone? What about in a another phone not a iPhone?
    HELP im dying here

You don't. The iPhone stores no data on the sim card. The only thing on an iPhone sim card is your carrier/provider account info.

  • Can I put my iphone sim card into my ipad mini?

Can I put my iphone sim card into my ipad mini?

Depends on the model of iPhone, and the actual cellular plan it has.
If its an iPhone 5 with an unlimited Data Plan you may be able to do it.
Any other model of iPhone or a plan without a data packcage will not work.

  • I bought an iphone4 from a friend and he was on orange i have put my o2 sim in the phone and it is saying restricted network with no service any ideas thanks

I bought an iphone4 from a friend and he was using it on orange i have put my o2 sim in the phone and it is saying restricted network with no service any ideas thanks

That is because the phone is locked to the Orange network and an o2 sim card is not going to work with a phone that is locked to Orange.
You either need to purchase an Orange sim card and use that in the phone, or you need to get your friend to contract Orange and get the phone unlocked so that you can use an 02 sim card.
At the moment you will never be able to use the 02 sim card if the phone is locked to Orange.  Either use Orange or get the phone unlocked.  It is as simple as that.

  • 6500 slide can't reach tower. sim in another phone...

I was at a friend's place with a low battery, and it died overnight. When I turned it on again the next morning (a Little battery power left) it couldn't reach any towers. I took it home (tower within 1km) and it couldn't connect. I put my sim into another phone and it connected to the tower fine with my account.
Is there anything I can check on my phone before taking it in for repair?

The phone is definitely within warranty as it was a week old from Nokia launch date. But Nokia Care Centre in Singapore and many Asian countries are NOT operated by Nokia themselves and have revoked their operators the policy for exchange due to the previous fraud case on their ex-operator. This is bad, I mean, real bad customer service.
Sorry to hear that. That's an example of bad customer service. They're must be in trouble right now.You can file a suit case to them if you want to or report it to the proper authorities like consumers rights(MTI).

I finally managed to find an email address or web form that I can send a request to Nokia. If you ever try using their "Contact us" links you will be pushed around their Asian countries' website and still not have the web form or email address to send your feedback to.
If you're experiencing some problems from sending a message to Nokia Care, you can try this one:

  • Forward voice mail on a iPhone 4s to another phone number

    How do you:
    1) Forward voice mail on a iPhone 4s to another phone number?
    AND/OR
    2) Copy voice mail file from iPhone 4s to iTunes so it can be attached to an email to send to another person?

    Ann,
As it appears that you work for Verizon, can you have then add the capability for iPhone 4s on the Verison Wireless network to:
    1) Forward voice mail on a iPhone 4s to another phone number? AND/OR 2) Copy voice mail file from iPhone 4s to iTunes so it can be attached to an email to send to another person?
You can do this with Blackberry devices so please add the same capability to iPhone 4s.
    Thanks,

  • Has anyone ever heard of their iphone 5s randomly being bent

i only got my iphone 5s less than 15 days ago. and tonight i took my case off it for about 30 minutes while i was laying in bed, so i did not drop it or have water damage or anything. but when i went to put my case back on my phone, it did not fit. my phone was bent. i read online that this has happened to a couple of people. does anyone know anything about this? or what i should do?

    "what i should do?"
Make an appointment to speak with an Apple Genius.  I'm sure the Genius will be as amazed as I am about the spontaneous bending of your iPhone.

  • Put in my sim card now phone locked

Hi I put my old sim card in then took it out, now my phone won't work keeps tell me no sim card installed, wont let me call or recived , one window said reinstall?? what is the fix just want i back to way it was before i messed with it thanks

Actually, when a user buys an iPhone, regardless of whatever gripes about the locks that AT&T and Apple have placed on it, the device is the property of the user. You don't even know if he meant to "tinker" with his iPhone other than what was only stated... that the guy placed an older SIM card into the phone and when attempting to undo it, ran into problems.
On the other hand, +when you go and advise him to *play with Legos*...+ ESPECIALLY when the guy is a new poster ... I mean, c'mon... that's just not right, and for iPhonechik to share a laugh with you, fine, but again... the guy is looking for a solution, and neither of you obviously gave him any more than a taunt. Maybe staffo here doesn't know any better that the iPhone is SIM-locked, so whatever, he didn't know.
This is a user-to-user forum. Read the ToS carefully. You and her want to have a laugh at his expense, that's fine. But users are expected to post on this forum to offer real solutions to other user's problems. At least mikeab shares a chuckle +along with+ a helpful word to his posters most of the time...
    Now on with the show:
staffo, try replacing your iPhone's included SIM back into its tray, then dock it with iTunes. When iTunes comes up, select your iPhone device on the left side, and in the Summary tab, click the "Restore" button to restore it back to the original factory settings. If you have synced the phone before, then the restore will also sync up your old information. Update us on what happens, and welcome to the Apple discussion boards. =)

  • Does anyone know how to use music transfered from another phone to the iphone as ringtones?

Does anyone know how to use ringtones that I put on my iphone from my previous phone? It went in as music and now I cant use as ringtones and figure out how to put it as ringtones.

    Two ways to do this:
Download an app, such as RMakerPro, which uses music on your phone to create ringtones.
Plug in to iTunes and find where your ringtones are listed. Drag them to your desktop, and then you will need to change the file type to .m4r, which can be done at www.freefileconvert.com.

  • IPhone SIM in Other Phone

    Hello
I'm thinking of getting an iPhone, and one thing I'd quite like which I've received several different answers for is the following. If I want to (occasionally) use my old phone (a Sony Ericsson K750i, so not a 3G phone) for situations where flashing an iPhone about is a bit risky, would it be possible to just drop the iPhone SIM into my old phone? The O2 shop said the iPhone will come with a new 3G sim which can be used in a non-3G phone, but reading around I've seen people having problems with this. Obviously I wouldn't get 3G functionality on the old phone, but all I would need is calls/SMS.
    Thanks in advance

No you can't. The iPlan is specific to the iPhone. In most phones, you will find that you won't get any data coverage with the iPhone sim, just text and voice. In some phones, people have been able to get some data access, but that is subject a charge per kb upon ATT's review. Some people are lucky and it's slipping by. For most people it doesn't work. And for some, they are getting back bills for the extra kb while using the other phone.
