Anyone Update Date/Timestamp using CachedRowSets, Java and Oracle 10g

How to do this...
a very small, direct snippet of code would be great..
or direct me to a CURRENT document.
Thanks

What will I get back from Oracle with TO_CHAR?
I am using a quoted string and supplying parameters.
In other words, when I do the date comparison with a TO_DATE I already know that I am getting 12:00:00 AM back and the paramter I can manipulate.
Example:
TO_DATE(datefield) = formattedDateParameter
The "TO_DATE(datefield)" is part of my prepared sql statement.
I am not sure how much manipulation of the where clause I can do.
My querystring would look like the following.
sql = "SELECT " + REPORTTRANSDATE + REPORTRETURNCODE + " FROM " + REPORTTABLE + " WHERE " + REPORTD + "=?" + " AND " + "TO_DATE(" + REPORTTRANSDATE + ")" + ">=?" + " AND " + "TO_DATE(" + REPORTTRANSDATE + ")" + "<=?" + " ORDER BY " + REPORTTRANSDATE;
Thanks.

  • How to relate java and Oracle

    i have to tried to make programs using java and oracle. if i give the values in the 'insert' statement it is getting updated in the original table in oracle but how to take the values from the text fields of java and insert into the tables in oracle. do we have any methods to convert the values into sql type. pl reply.

    Here is a sample of a Java program that uses JDBC and a PreparedStatement. This particular program does a select, but you can also use this for inserts. I'm not 100% this is what you are looking for, but if it isn't just let me know. I'll help if I can.
    Joel
    For inserts, just replace this code:
    ResultSet rs = ps.executeQuery();
    while (rs.next()) {
      System.out.println(rs.getInt(rs.findColumn("CNT")));
    }with this code (and obviously change the Select string to an Insert String):
    int rowcnt = ps.executeUpdate();Here is the whole program:
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.text.*;
    class dbtest {
        public static void main(String args[]) throws SQLException {
            try {
                String timeString = new String("2000-11-01 23:59:59");
                SimpleDateFormat format = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd H:m:s");
                java.util.Date date = format.parse(timeString);
                Timestamp timestamp = new Timestamp(date.getTime());
                DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
                Connection conn =
                    DriverManager.getConnection(
                        "jdbc:oracle:thin:@riker:1521:mydb",
                        "myusername",
                        "mypassword");
                String sql =
                    "SELECT COUNT(*) CNT FROM SERVICE_ALARM "
                        + "WHERE TRANS_STREAM_NODE_ID = ? "
                        + "AND SERVICE_ID = ? "
                        + "AND ALARM_ID = ? "
                        + "AND RAISED > TO_DATE(?,'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS')";
                PreparedStatement ps = conn.prepareStatement(sql);
                ps.setString(1, "ROW1");
                ps.setInt(2, 1);
                ps.setString(3, "ROW1");
                String myDate =
                    timestamp.toString().substring(0, timestamp.toString().length() - 2);
                System.out.println("myDate=(" + myDate + ")");

  • Using Clob with TopLink 9.0.4.5 and Oracle 10g RAC

    I am trying to store an XML file in a Clob type field of a DB table using TopLink 9.0.4.5 and Oracle 10g RAC and need some guidance about how to do it. I got some directions to start it with the Tip "How-To: Map Large Objects (LOBs) to Oracle Databases with OracleAS TopLink" but still need some more helps.
    When using the Oracle JDBC OCI driver, the tip gives the code block for a Clob field:
    DirectToField scriptMapping = new DirectToField();
    scriptMapping.setAttributeName("script");
    scriptMapping.setFieldName("IMAGE.SCRIPT");
    descriptor.addMapping(scriptMapping);
    As I understand, TopLink creates instances of the Descriptor class at run time for each of the descriptor files and stores them in a database session, where is the proper place (in SessionEvent of TopLinkSessionEventHandler?) for me to get a reference to such an instance of my Descriptor class in Java code so that I can add the above mentioned additional Mapping? Are the above String values of "script" and "IMAGE.SCRIPT" predefined in TopLink API? Can I accomplish the same thing just using the TopLink Workbench tool instead? If yes, please advise the detailed steps to do so.
    The tip also states to call the following code in case of using Clob:
    DatabaseLogin login = session.getLogin();
    login.useStringBinding();
    Should the above 2 lines of code be called after the following lines of code?
    SessionManager sessionManager = SessionManager.getManager();
    Server serverSession = (Server)sessionManager.getSession("MY_SESSION_NAME");
    Besides the above extra coding for the Session and Descriptor Mapping, is there any special handling in between Data model and DB table mapping? Can I map a Java String type to a DB Clob field using the Direct-to-field mapping?
    Appreciate any help.

    Never mind ....... I had already figured it out .....

  • Linking Access tables, creating a query with using both Access and Oracle

    Hello,
    I am using 3.0.04.34 version Oracle Developer. I am supposed to create a script/procedure to use both Access tables and oracle tables together. There is an option in developer to copy the access tables into oracle. But it doesn't help me. Because when we updated the access tables
    the copied ones are not be updated. How can I created a linked access tables to oracle and create a query with using both access and oracle table together.
    I will appreciate if you guys help me. I look forward to hearing from you guys.
    Thanks,
    Pinar

    Pinar,
    to be able to query MS Access tables in Oracle you need an additional product, the Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC. It allows you to link any foreign database into an Oracle database using a suitable ODBC driver. You can then access the MS Access tables through a database link based on the Database Gateway for ODBC. This will also allow you to join local Oracle and remote MS Access tables from your Oracle database.
    There's a note on My Oracle Support which gives you more details:Document 233876.1 Options for Connecting to Foreign Data Stores and Non-Oracle Databases - For example - DB2, SQL*Server, Sybase, Informix, Teradata, MySQL
    And there's also a dedicated Forum: Heterogeneous Connectivity

  • Our Java application is built with java 1.4 version and oracle 10g

    Our Java application is built with java 1.4 version and oracle 10g version database, is it possible to upgrade oracle database to 11g?

    is it possible to upgrade
    Yes. SE and the other editions have a migration/upgrade utility, not seeing any mention of that program in the XE license docs. To upgrade to 11gR2 from 10g, the 10g instance must be at patch 10.2.0.2 or higher.
    So if you're a GUI dba, might be out of luck. But the the XE install has the catalog upgrade scripts that need to be run, there is a MOS note explaining the manual upgrade steps.
    Or set up a brand new 11g database instance and datapump your user schema(s) from the 10g instance to the new 11g instance. The database doesn't care what java version you're using, it just does what its told with the data. DDL, DCL, DML ... its not much different. Quite a few new features in 11g.
    But if you're after JVMs that piece is not supported with XE.

  • Relation between java and oracle

    Hi,
    This is general information about java and oracle.
    I had worked in java last one year, but now switch to oracle i heared that nearly combination of each are implemented oops concept. But i know where it used in java, not in oracle.
    In oracle, where we are implemented inheritance, polymorhism and encapsulation.
    plz give some tips
    Regards venki

    does this mean you used to develop your applications on java and manuplate your data in Oracle over JDBC or Hibernate but then you started to develop PL/SQL applications for this need and use PL/SQL's OO features?
    With my experiences I may say if you are working on data intensive database applications learning how to use effectively SQL and PL/SQL is critical, this is Oracle's native language not something written to work for any database vendor. http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/portal.portal_db?selected=5

  • Oel updates and oracle 10g

    Hi
    Can i get updates for oel4/5 ?(using for testing at home)
    can i install oracle 10g oel 5 ?
    thanks

    The ability to get updates for OEL 4 or 5 is a paid service, for which you need to have a subscription to oracle's repository. So, assuming you don't want to explicitly buy a subscription, you can only download the latest version of both OEL 4 and 5, and use it.
    The oracle 10g database (that's also a assumption, that you mean the database with 'oracle 10g') can be installed on OEL5, but because the 10.2.0.1 version was released before OEL5 (actually RHEL5) existed, the installer does not see the linux version as a valid one. This can be bypassed using two popular methods: use the -ignoresysprereqs commandline option with runInstaller, or by copying over the contents of /etc/redhat-release. Also, you need to extra packages (libXp and compat-libstdc++-33). But I assume there are a lot of installation examples to be found on the internet.

    I'm new to using Oracle 10G. After reviewing several rdms's I've picked Oracle 10G as my rdms. I'm trying to build an ecommerce site using DreamWeaver MX 2004 and Oracle 10G. The website will be selling hardware and software products. I have a choice in DreamWeaver to go for a .asp or .jsp setup. I have several questions, here goes:
    1. Is there any book/tutorial/whitepaper out there that describes building an ecommerce site using Oracle 10G/9I/8I? Just some examples as how to make the datamodel regarding the shopping basket etc.
    2. I prefer DreamWeaver as it let's me make nice looking css style based pages without throttling too much through the code. Are there Oracle tools which allow me to make an advanced nice looking ecommerce site?
    I hope some of you can help me get started. Any effort is appreciated.

  • Auditing in oracle 10g database and oracle 10g application server

    Dear friends,
    We have oracle 10g application server and oracle 10g database server in place.My criteria is to audit users connected using oracle application user credentials to the database.
    Can you please tell me how can i do it.
    Thanks & regards,

    Its the database connection you want to track. The session audit will show where it came from.
    Auditing is turned using this command:
    alter system set audit_trail = DB scope=spfile;
    Note: The use of spfile will require a DB bounce before audit starts
    To audit Sessions:
    audit create session;
    Query by Audit Type:
    SELECT A.USERNAME,
    OS_USERNAME,
    A.TIMESTAMP,
    A.RETURNCODE,
    TERMINAL,
    USERHOST
    FROM DBA_AUDIT_SESSION A
    WHERE USERHOST = <replace with iAS servername> ;
    By User
    SELECT USERNAME,OBJ_NAME,ACTION_NAME , TIMESTAMP
    FROM DBA_AUDIT_TRAIL WHERE USERNAME = 'SCOTT';
    Check for users sharing database accounts
    select count(distinct(terminal)),username
    from dba_audit_session
    having count(distinct(terminal))>1
    group by username;
    Attempts to access the database at unusual hours
    SELECT username, terminal, action_name, returncode,
    TO_CHAR (TIMESTAMP, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS'),
    TO_CHAR (logoff_time, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
    FROM dba_audit_session
    WHERE TO_DATE (TO_CHAR (TIMESTAMP, 'HH24:MI:SS'), 'HH24:MI:SS') <
    TO_DATE ('08:00:00', 'HH24:MI:SS')
    OR TO_DATE (TO_CHAR (TIMESTAMP, 'HH24:MI:SS'), 'HH24:MI:SS') >
    TO_DATE ('19:30:00', 'HH24:MI:SS');
    Attempts to access the database with non-existent users
    SELECT username, terminal, TO_CHAR (TIMESTAMP, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
    FROM dba_audit_session
    WHERE returncode <> 0
    AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT 'x'
    FROM dba_users
    WHERE dba_users.username = dba_audit_session.username);
    Other audits you might consider:

    audit create user;
    audit drop user;
    audit drop tablespace;
    audit grant any role;
    audit grant any privilege;

    audit alter any procedure;
    audit create view;
    audit drop any procedure;
    audit drop profile;
