Anyway to find out what gen ipod is

I sold my iPod, And i need to know if it was 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen, I'm pretty sure it was below 32Gb, But i need to make sure!
Is there anyway?
Also i think someone is using my Apple ID and it has personal stuff on it, What shall i do?

First, change your Apple ID's password. Do it here:
https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
If you registered your iPod in My Support Profile, you can determine the specific model number there:
https://supportprofile.apple.com/
Otherwise, you can review this page to determine what it may have been:
Identifying iPod models
Otherwise, without record of your purchase with a receipt, empty box, etc your guess is as good as mine.

By the serial number can you find out what generation your iPod touch is??

Hi stedman, getting back the generation number when inputting the serial number is a new offering on the warranty checking page, isn't it?
Very useful though. That should put a stop to the "8GB 3rd gen" merchants!

  • When you buy an app is there anyway of finding out what device it was downloaded to?

I purchased an Ipod touch g4 second hand for my 6 year old daughter.  I had never let her take it out of the house but of course I decided it would be safe.  Unfortunately she did in fact drop it and broke the screen (need a better case).  I took it to a store who said they could replace it as well as the battery.  Unfortunately for me, I never got a chance to back up the pictures or anything onto my computer but I had downloaded and paid for some apps on it.  I also never copied down the serial number.
I got the device back today and took it home not thinking I had to look and make sure it was mine.  Upon returning home I gave it to my daughter and low and behold it has no camera, no facetime, no nothing.  I did a search on the net and took it to another guy to look at and it turns out that the guy who replaced the screen switched it out for a 2g device.
What I need to know is if here is anyway apple would know what kind of device the games I purchased were downloaded to.
    Thank you,

    No
    Sorry

  • I am trying to sync my 5th gen. Keep getting a message about items on my iPod not in my library. How do I find out what these items are?

I'm trying to sync my 5th gen iPod and I keep getting a message that there are items on my iPod that are not in my iTunes and they'll be deleted if I don't transfer them. How do I find out what these items are so I know if I want them or not? Also, I seem to have a fair amount of duplicates, one marked with the cloudn symbol and one not. Which one do I delete??

Go to your "Purchased"  list. See:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
and look for items not on this computer.

  • After updating iOS on my iPod touch 4th gen my Philips speaker dock DC290B/37 no longer charges the iPod.  It will play music but not charge, is there anyway to find out if Apple is working on an update/fix?

after updating iOS on my iPod touch 4th gen my Philips speaker dock DC290B/37 no longer charges the iPod.  It will play music but not charge, is there anyway to find out if Apple is working on an update/fix?

    Try:
    - Reset the dock
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Otherwise you are out of luck. Apple is not making any more update for the 4G.
Also check with Phillips. Maybe they have an firmware update available

  • How can you find out what generation your iPod touch is?

How can you find out what generation your iPod touch is?

    Hi,
Here is help for the operating system:
If you are locked to iOS 3 then you have an iPod Touch 1st Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 4 then you have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 5 then you have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 6 then you have an iPod Touch 4th Gen.
If you can get iOS 7 and have an iPhone 5 sized screen [bigger] you have the current iPod Touch 5th Gen.
I assume since it says you have iOS 5.1.1 you have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen.
Also, you may want to sync it so iTunes can tell you or you can look at the model number on the back.
    Hope this helped.

I have a ipod classic 160GB and it's not showing any music anymore, but there is still showing 7GB of memory being used, and I don't have it backed up on my itunes, since I had to put a new hard drive on my computer. Any suggestion to find out whats on that memory or to get it the music back, there is approximately over 1400 songs on it?

What is the memory being used by, is it Other? If it is, that means the iPod can no longer read the music, so it has put it all in "Other".
The usual fix for this is to allow the iPod to Sync with its iTunes Library. If that doesn't work, the next option is to Restore the iPod using the Restore command in iTunes, on the Device/Summary pane.
Unless you are very (very) lucky, I suspect that you are going to have to Restore your iPod. Restoring will remove everything form the iPod and put back onto it only what it finds in your iTunes Library, which you say is currently empty.
    If you have to rebuild your Library after this issue, by adding all the music back again, this is going to be hard to hear, but for the future, you may want to consider always having a backup of your library. The easiset way to back the Library up is;
if the Library is small enough, burn it to a DVD, as digital files, not a "music CD".
If your Library is too large for a DVD, buy yourself an external hard drive and copy the Library onto the drive. Remember to update the backup every so often.

My ipod was stolen, can I find out what the serial number of it is, based on looking at a connection history in my itunes? How would I do this? I didn't register it. I think I found the guy selling it, just looking to confirm the serial number and I'll make a phone call to the police.

    is this possible?
    Yes.
Open iTunes on the computer you used to sync the iPod and select Preferences… from the iTunes menu.
Select the Devices pane. Position the cursor over any of its backups. The iPod's serial number will appear in a popup window.
