AP Div Layering
I have several overlapping AP Div's and would like to move
one to the front. I coudln't find any documentation on this.
Look up "z-index" or "stacking order" in the DW Help files.

AP Divs (layers) move when I open my website on different window size.
First of all, this is my first time trying to make a website.
I'm doing an assignment for my class and i found it difficult for me to fix. I have spend 4-5 hours researching online but nothing work for me.
Well,the problem is the AP Divs (layers) move when I open my website on different window size(iphone,ipad).
The website only look right on 1366 x 786 resolution. Please take a look at my 2 pics below:
And I don't know how to make the website to fit on the iphone and ipad so that I don't have to scroll down or sroll to the right to view the whole thing.
Please someone help me!

</html>That's what APDivs do. This is the single most common problem new people have with web page layouts. DO NOT use positioning. You don't need it. Start over. Learn to use CSS floats, margins and padding to align elements.

Issue with images and AP div layers
Im a bit of a noobie. but i have a problem with this website
im working on. I have a table with an image in it serving as a
background for some text i wish to put into it. I use an AP Div
layer to put in the text on top of the image. Of course when i open
the page in a full window, it displays properly, but when resizing
the window, the text shifts as a cause of the div layer not
moving... Is there a way to fix this or another way to do this
properly?

thing not a Dreamweaver problem.
You should be staying from layers and using hand CSS with
divs ID and class. Check out the adobe site for tutorials on using
Dreamweaver with CSS. You should find these in the designer
section. They are quite good and they'll give you what you're
looking for
Also a good book on this is CSS the Missing Manaul it really
explains what's happening and going on here -
Div Layers move in firefox and safari

an inserted background box and another layer on top with text to
fit in it. Everything looks fine on my screen but the layer
containing the text slips down about 26 pix. I have tried

Stop 'flailing' and start learning. Until you understand CSS
positioning,
you should stay away from 'layers' or anything using
positioning.

Decided to give divs a try and get away from tables cause
everyone says I

don't need that line currently, so it's safe to delete.
Your concern about the menu is well placed. Horizontal menus
always run the
risk of breaking when the text is resized in the browser.
Yours will too.
But, to spread things out a bit, you need to manage the
padding and the
width of the div#nav ul li a rule.

Two flash movies index problem while in different div
hi,
i have created a page and i use peelawayad file which is in
flash. i was already using two div on home page which contains
flash movies. but now when i placed peelawayad flash movie on home
page. it appears on bottom of both div layers. i tired my best with
stylesheet. z-index and many other tricks which i know best. but

Actually the problem is -
For portrait dimensions are -
width 20
height 30
for landscape , obviously it will be
width - 30
height - 20
Thus , for second page - table width is 20 while page width is 30 and so 10 cm space remains blank on right side of page
user says that right side should not be blank, rather you extend table width to whole page width.
thats where the problem is -
Dweaver:.jpg rollover activates .swf in seperate AP-Div

Hi,
I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 and I have built separate Flash CS3
.swf movie clip files that are contained (one at a time) in the
center of the page by an AP-Div Tag on my web page. Around the
center AP-Div tag are eight (8) small .jpeg thumbnails of the Flash
.swf movie clips they represent. I am trying to create eight (8)
disjointed rollovers that swap out the .jpg for the .swf in the
center.
I want to hover over the small .jpeg (still image) and have
Dreamweaver javascript swap out one .swf file for the one being
hovered over. I cannot get this to happen. Dreamweaver CS3 will not
swap out the .swf using the Behavior Attributes palette
"Swap-Out/Restore" feature.
How can I accomplish this task?
P.S.: On the other hand, a simple disjointed static
.jpeg-to-.jpeg works fine.

I thought I was reading it wrong, but you really do have 101 AP divs on the page. I don't have the time to go through your code, but using absolutely positioned divs as the sole basis for page layout is likely to lead to massive problems. AP divs (or layers, as they used to be called) were all the rage several years ago, because people wrongly thought they would make web pages work like desktop publishing. I used them, too, until I realized they caused massive problems.
It won't solve your current problem, I'm afraid, but I recommend that you take a look at the following page, which describes some of the problems with AP div/layers: http://apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php. -
AP Div tag's absolute postioning not working
I have been trying to figure this problem out for about 2 hours and I have nothing. Div tags 98-101 are positioned in the right place when I'm looking at my page in Dreamweaver. But when I preview the page, those 4 div tags are not where they're supposed to be (they're in the bottom right of the page, hundreds of pixels from where they're supposed to be). Any ideas?

I thought I was reading it wrong, but you really do have 101 AP divs on the page. I don't have the time to go through your code, but using absolutely positioned divs as the sole basis for page layout is likely to lead to massive problems. AP divs (or layers, as they used to be called) were all the rage several years ago, because people wrongly thought they would make web pages work like desktop publishing. I used them, too, until I realized they caused massive problems.
It won't solve your current problem, I'm afraid, but I recommend that you take a look at the following page, which describes some of the problems with AP div/layers: http://apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php. -

CoreyIn your html you have a couple of problems that are very
evident:
In this function:
function callFlashPlayPauseVideo() {
flashVideoPlayer.pauseResume();
you are calling a function "pauseResume()" in the Flash movie
Referenced as "flashVideoPlayer". However, your Flash movie is
referenced as "promo". You need to change the reference in the JS
function or the references in the html.
There is no function "pauseResume()" in the AS code that you
show. The two functions that you do show, should work. To call
those two AS functions, you will need two corresponding JS
functions in the HTML doc.

By default Tabs are used inside an iView and not to "tab" between iViews on a page...
The most straightforward solution would be creating a custom PageLayout that you can assign to your page.
I would sugest to implement this custom PageLayout with DIV layers and trigger "tabbing" via JavaScript eventing.

Need help debugging page in IE8
The site in question works great on every browser except IE8. There is a div underneath the blue logo on the left hand side of the page that fades in with some copy. It is driven by a simple embedded script. However, I cannot figure out why it is not working in IE8. It just will not show up. I have tried multiple things and at this point I dont care if the fade in works, I just want the side text to appear on the left hand side of the page underneath the logo without having to reformat the page. I tried removing the javascript altogether and and removing the "Display: none" funtion from each div so they would be visible, but they are still not showing up. What gives?
The div that it being called by the javascript code is #wrapper_content_home, by which it contains three other divs within it that fade-in when the script is fired (#pageTitle, #solidDivider, #sideContent).
I am currently using VirtualBox to test and have it configured to Windows XP 32 bit using IE8.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my code or what I need to do to fix this issue? Could it be a Doctype declaration issue? At this point, I have no idea. Thanks in advance for any help with this!

Yes, those classes usually are worthless because they focus
on using the tool without giving you the proper foundation for
understanding and managing html and css. Unfortunately, all of the
example sites you gave you AP Divs (layers) as a primary layout
method, which is a terrible approach. AP Divs should be used rarely
if ever, and only when you understand how they work. When the
visitors font is sized differently than you expected, the site
falls apart. The correct approach is to learn web
design/development outside of the context of a specific
application.
