AP Isolation not working

Using a wrt610n.
I am trying to Isolate one of my wireless bands from the rest of the network. I turn on the AP Isolation and I still have access to all of my wired computers.
Questions:
Am I doing something wrong?
With AP Isolation working will they be able to see the hard drive plugged into the router?
I've heard that they can still see other wireless devices, is that true? And if so, can they see others wireless devices on the other wireless band?
Thanks i advance.

What is the current firmware version of the router? If the firmware in the Router is an older version then upgrade it with the latest one which can be downloaded from the Linksys/Cisco website. After successful firmware upgrade you need to reset the Router. It is recommended to reset the router once. Steps to reset the router:
Push the reset button on router for 30 seconds, turn off the router wait for 30 seconds and then power it on. Power light should blink when you perform the reset process.
After reset, reconfigure the router and then check the connectivity status…

  • Auto Deploy and VCD Network Isolation - Not Working

    Hello,
    I have opened a support case about this issue, but the case is moving a lot slower than I would like to see. I thought I'd post here to see if anyone has ran into anything similar.
    We recently switched our 24-host vCloud cluster (more info about this cluster below) over to Auto-Deploy (was using boot from USB). After the switch, we had a few complaints from customers that use isolated networks. It turns out that only 4 of our 24 hosts were working properly with isolated networks. All 24-hosts are using the same auto-deploy image.
    When the hosts boot up, the vCloud Director web interface shows the following with green check marks: "Status", "Enabled", "Ready", "Available", and "VCD Network Isolation Capable".
    To get my other 20 hosts working, I disabled all 20 hosts in the vCloud interface, unprepared them, and prepared them. After this, network isolation worked for those 20 hosts. When I reboot one of the hosts, the host still looks like it's good in the interface, but network isolation doesn't work until I disable, unprepare, and prepare.
    Here is some more information about our environment:
    vCenter build 2001466
    ESXi Host Build 2702864
    VCD Build 5.5.2.2000523
    vShield Build 5.5.3
    Here is the Deploy Rule that the hosts are using:
    Name        : UCS-2.2.1-pcloud.5.5.aln
    PatternList : {oemstring=$SPT:ESX_PublicCloud_autod.2.2.x}
    ItemList    : {ESXi-5.5.0-autod-2.2.1.vshield}
    I have confirmed that this is indeed the profile being used by looking at the Summary tab for the hosts and seeing the listed Image Profile.
    And here is what's in that item:

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Right now, on my test host (that is not working), I have two VMs, one named "Test 1" and the other "Test 2" They only have an isolated network on them (named "Test Isolated Network") that is in my VDC, and pings do not work between them. If I move them to any other host (that have been unprepared and prepared), pings work. I can move both to the same host, or different hosts.
    Here is the fence info on this host, I'm not really sure how to interpret this:

  • EJB transaction isolation not working

    I'm trying to use TRANSACTION_SERIALIZABLE isolation level in my EJB test application
    with no success so far.
    The environment is Windows NT, WebLogic 6.1, Informix DB (which, according to
    its documentation, supports TRANSACTION_SERIALIZABLE), and a Tx Data Source on
    a JDBC pool.
    I have an CMP Entity EJB with the following definitions:
    <container-transaction>
    <method>
    <ejb-name>SdrFA</ejb-name>
    <method-name>*</method-name>
    </method>
    <trans-attribute>Required</trans-attribute>
    </container-transaction>
    <transaction-isolation>
    <isolation-level>TRANSACTION_SERIALIZABLE</isolation-level>
    <method>
    <ejb-name>SdrFA</ejb-name>
    <method-intf>Home</method-intf>
    <method-name>*</method-name>
    </method>
    <method>
    <ejb-name>SdrFA</ejb-name>
    <method-intf>Remote</method-intf>
    <method-name>*</method-name>
    </method>
    </transaction-isolation>
    The entity EJB is used by a servlet that uses JTA to establish a transaction that
    the EJB methods should share ("Required" transaction attribute). The servlet is
    as follows:
    // Establish a transaction
    UserTransaction trn =
    (UserTransaction) ctx.lookup("java:comp/UserTransaction");
    trn.begin();
    trn.setTransactionTimeout(20);
    // Get the EJB
    SdrFA fFA = home.findByPrimaryKey( fFAPK );
    // Update an attribute
    fFA.setSomeAtt("someData");
    // Sleep to control concurrency
    Thread.currentThread().sleep(t * 1000);
    // commit
    trn.commit();
    I expected this setup to prevent concurrent updates and even accesses to the same
    DB table row, but this is not the case: when I invoke the servlet from a session
    and then invoke it again from another session while the first one is sleeping,
    the second one completes all right and is visible in the DB before the first one
    commits.
    Just in case TRANSACTION_SERIALIZABLE is not supported after all, I tried TRANSACTION_REPEATABLE_READ
    instead whith the same results.
    Is there something I'm missing, or any error in my setup?
    Thanks for any suggestion,
    Pere Torrodellas

    Hi Pere,
    AFAIR delay-updates-until-end-of-tx is set to True by default, so the
    actual update is not issued untill TX is commited. I'd try setting it to
    false and running the test again.
    Here are some documentation references:

  • Transaction attributes and isolation not working as expected why ? !

    I have three beans participating in a TX
    SeatBean ---- entity (BMP)
    Res --------entity (BMP)
    AgentBean --- session (SFSB)
    AgentBean has bookSeat (seatNumber, amount) method that is being called by the client.
    The Agent bean bookSeat (seatNumber, amount) method locates the seat bean with the given seat number if the booked field is null (means the seat is open for booking)
    It sets the values for booking the seat (inserts a new record in Res table using ResBean and updates the Seat table using SeatBean )
    In the AgentBean I make a check if the booked filed is Y or null.
    If the field is Y it throws a RemoteException.
    I gave Tx attributes in the ejb-jar.xml for ALL the beans as follows
    In ejb-jar.xml <trans-attribute>Required</trans-attribute>
    In weblogic-ejb-jar.xml
    <transaction-isolation>
         <isolation-level>TRANSACTION_REPEATABLE_READ</isolation-level>
    I opened two windows as use1 and user2
    User1 makes search for a seat finds seat1 is not booked
    User2 makes search for a seat finds seat1 is not booked
    User1 books the seat
    User2 books the seat (user2 action is initiated immediately after user1 initiates the action)
    Use1 and user2 actions are successful. There are two records in Res table.
    The seat table reflects the last changes. i.e user2 action.
    My questions are
    1.user2 should not get any search result till user1 intiated TX is complete
    ( i.e user2 should got get any search result till user1 commits or roll back because TRANSACTION_REPEATABLE_READ )
    Why is that not happening?
    2.Since user1 books the seat for customer1 and sets booked = Y in seat table
    user should not be able to book the seat. but user2 actions are reflecting in DB.
    What is going wrong?
    Can any one explain?

    The following szenario will executed as follows:
    User1 makes search for a seat finds seat1 is not booked
    User2 makes search for a seat finds seat1 is not booked
    User1 books the seat
    User2 books the seat
    Use1 and user2 actions are successful. There are two records in Res table.1.) Agent Bean is a session bean with CMT:
    User1: | AgentBean.searchNotBookedSeats()
    Tx1 | call other EJBs with the same transaction
    | context (required)
    v <-- return
    **) at this point the transaction is finished, the
    isolation level is not used
    User2: | AgentBean.searchNotBookedSeats()
    Tx2 | call other EJBs with the same transaction
    | context (required)
    v <-- return
    User1: | AgentBean.bookSeat(...)
    Tx3 | Res.create(..) same transaction context
    v <-- return
    User2: | AgentBean.bookSeat(...)
    Tx4 | Res.create(..) same transaction context
    v <-- return
    In this case there are four transaction used. The easiest way to
    prevent that there exists more than one reservation for one seat is
    to use a database constraint. That's the way I would solve the
    problem.
    Here is another solution:
    2.) Agent Bean is a stateful session bean with BMT and the isolation
    attribute is higher or equal REPEATABLE_READ:
    User1: | AgentBean.searchNotBookedSeats()
    Tx1 | call other EJBs with the same transaction
    | context (required)
    v <-- return
    **) the method starts a transaction but does not
    finish it.
    User2: | AgentBean.searchNotBookedSeats()
    Tx2 | call other EJBs with the same transaction
    | context (required)
    v <-- return
    **) this method blocks until Tx1 will be finished
    User1: | AgentBean.bookSeat(...)
    Tx1 | Res.create(..) same transaction context
    v <-- return
    **) the method finish the transaction
    User2: | AgentBean.bookSeat(...)
    Tx2 | Res.create(..) same transaction context
    v <-- return
    In this case the isolation level will be used. The whole system is
    blocked for the time between searching and booking a seat.
    Thats not very good :-(
    Best Regards and mery christmas

  • Caller id not working in roaming

    HI,
    on my iPhone 5 caller id is not working while I am abroad, in roaming.
    I am quite supprised with this problem, because all other mobile phones beside iP do this normally.
    So far I know this is not isolated case with my iP5, but all iP users I know have this same issue..
    can anybody help me resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    best regards,
    Branko

    After erratic behavior of UC520 I decided to reinstall from scratch, configuring again by hand with CCA, not restoring any configuration, and now everything is working well. I think I did a mess with the configuratión using CCA and CLI. Sorry, my mistake.
    So for Caller-id the default configuration works well, nothing additional to do.
    Paolo, thanks for the help.

  • Encrypt Message does not work with new Plug-in 7.3

    I installed the new Email Security Plug-in 7.3 but now the Encrypt Message button does not work.  It is grayed out and unavailable when I attempt to create a new message.
    I first tried installed 7.3 over the previous version but every time I opened Outlook I received an error message about XML not loading.  I uninstalled the plugin, rebooted and installed it clean and that took care of the XML message.  But I then found the encrypt button issue and have not been able to solve that issue.  This is not isolated to my machine as I have tried installing it on another machine that never had the plug-in installed before.

    My understanding is that they completely rewrote it, which is probably why an upgrade doesn't work well...
    I did get one way of deploying figured out, the stuff on page 3-20 has some errors.
    Here's what I did that works:
         Do a clean install on a machine that doesn't have any plugin installed.
         Copy the C:\Users\All Users\Cisco\Cisco IronPort Email Security Plug-In\Common directory and its contents to a network accsible share, say \\fs1\share\pluginconfig, so you now have \\fs1\share\pluginconfig\Common, etc...
         Copy your BCE_Config_Signed.xml file to the Common folder
         Rename that to config_1.xml
         Edit the CommonEncryptionConfig.xml to have the following XML:
          Now you can push the install with a command line that references the folder (the example on page 3-20 is wrong, no 's' ):
                CiscoIronPortEmailSecurity-7-3-0-102.exe /exenoui /qn UseCustomConfig="\\fs\share\pluginconfig"
           (if you're doing it on the same machine you did the clean install with, you should uninstall it first...)

  • Mini DisplayPort to DVI not working, No Multi-Monitor, Jerky Mouse

    I have an iMac, 27 inch, 2009 model.
    Until today I've had a second monitor attached via the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. The monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster T260. This setup has worked perfectly well so far.
    Until today that is. Now the monitor is not recognised any more and if I try to select "Detect Displays" the mouse pointer hangs every few seconds - stops dead and then restarts again.
    What did I do to make this happen? Nothing (that i'm aware of). Haven't installed anything, not done a software update, just literally rebooted and it's not working anymore.
    _*Things that still work...*_
    The Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter works on a Mac Mini, so that's OK
    The DVI cable works fine when plugged into a PC or Mac Mini, so that's OK
    The Monitor works fine when plugged into a PC or Mac Mini, via DVI, HDMI or VGA, so that's OK
    So I've established that, in isolation, each part of the system is functioning perfectly well.
    *_Things I have tried - without success..._*
    1) Rebooting - both iMac and monitor
    2) Unplugging all cables and reconnecting then rebooting again
    3) Clearing the PRAM - done it twice just to make sure
    4) Updated to OS X 10.6.7
    5) Reset the SMC
    6) Deleted the com.apple.windowserver.plist files at /Library and ~/Library
    7) Googled for solutions - plenty of people seem to have one or the other of these symptoms...
    Can anyone shed any light on what's happened here ? Please help!
    Cheers
    Mart
    ** Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I just found a forum specifically for the iMac so posted it there but not sure how to delete this one. **

    Well, it would be interesting if that's when it had occurred. At the time, I hadn't installed 10.6.7, and hadn't installed anything immediately prior to the problem occurring.
    It doesn't seem like there's any way (a-la System Files Checker on Windows) of checking the integrity of system files which may have been corrupted, nor a way of reinstalling any update in the case of this happening - or is there a way of doing this? You don't seem to have any control over updates apart from applying them - if something does go wrong, there's no way of backing out. I guess Time Machine is the answer to my own question there.
    I'm happy that it's working now, but it was a pretty extreme fix to have to wipe the entire system. At least it wasn't a hardware issue, I'll be thankful for that!

    I am trying to setup my new time capsule but it is not working. after entering the airport utility and locating the TC, after I tell the program to continue, the unit just disappear from the menu and the setup menu says there is an error. I tried using the wireless connection, and also the cable, but none worked. Any idea of what could be happening?

    What are you setting it up as.. join wireless network .. the very worst setup, it will disappear.. reboot the whole network in order modem. router TC.. clients and it will likely reappear.
    Tell us what network setup you are using..
    If you setup with cable to a computer completely isolated from the network with TC also isolated.. finish the setup of everything you want. .before update.. then plug it into the network. .then restart everything in correct order.. it will work most of the time.

  • My iSight is not working on my Macbook Pro. What are the possible problems and solutions?

    My iSight is not working on my Macbook Pro. What are the possible problems and solutions?

    Hello Douglas,
    Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the built-in iSight camera on your MacBook Pro.  I recommend the following steps for this issue:
    Important: Follow these instructions in order. Test the camera between steps to see if the issue is resolved.
    Built-in iSight cameras
    These steps are for iSight cameras that are built into a computer, such as the iMac G5 (iSight) or later, the MacBook, or MacBook Pro.
    See if the issue is application-specific.
    Try another application (iSight works with applications like iChat, PhotoBooth, and iMovie HD 6) to see if the iSight camera exhibits the same behavior in all applications. If it only happens in one application, try reinstalling that application.
    See if the issue is user-specific.
    Test your iSight camera in another user account. If the issue only occurs in one user, the issue would be isolated to user settings.
    Find out if the computer recognizes the iSight
    Check System Profiler (in the Utilities folder, inside the Applications folder). Under the USB header, check to see if the iSight camera is detected.
    Reset SMC or PMU
    Reset your computer's SMC or PMU, and then check System Profiler again. (SMC reset instructions for iMac G5 (iSight), Intel-based iMacs; PMU reset instructions for MacBook and MacBook Pro.)
    If your built-in iSight camera is still not behaving correctly after trying all these steps, you may need to contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Music will not play in iTunes store OR library. Quicktime also not working.

    I am quite nearly at my wits end trying to figure out the problem I am having: I just started up a brand spanking new Mac Pro today, and aside from other problems, am unable to play songs that I migrated over from my old Power PC G5, which was running the last version of Mac OS 10.5 before it kicked the bucket; I luckily had an external drive running Time Machine backups.
    The songs all show up, I checked my Library, checked permissions, ran my disk utility just to be sure, I have already gone through the authorization mambo in iTunes--I was able to sync my iPod Touch just fine, aside from a few issues with apps that I downloaded directly to my iPod not wanting to transfer over to my computer, it did tell me my new machine was authorized, of course I have two machines authorized because I was unable to deauthorize the last one before it died--but they just do not play. The play button shows, the little sound icon comes up beside the song, but no sound issues forth. Same thing seems to happen in iTunes. I attempted to play a Quicktime movie preview, also, but that did not work either, so I am wondering if there might be a connection between the two.
    This too, after I migrated over everything, iTunes did not want to start up; I was prompted to reinstall it, as I was told it was corrupted or installed incorrectly. Which is weird, seeing as how I had only just started up the machine for the first time, and had nothing to do with installing iTunes in the first place. I downloaded it from the internet, and it seemed to be working fine until I attempted to play music.
    If anyone can help me, I will be so very grateful. Just about next to tears, and am trying all avenues; next will be calling Apple Care and hoping for someone who can help.

    I am having the same problem with my iTunes. Support had me uninstall everything and reinstall iTunes again thinking it was corrupt. I did that and it worked for a couple of days. Now they say that cannot help since it is iTunes and not my iPhone and sent me here. Sometimes I can get it to work sporadically if I reboot my laptop a couple of times, but I have rebooted a few times already and nothing plays...no song previews, nothing from my library. iPods and iPhone play fine, it is isolated only to iTunes and is super frustrating. I get the same task bar up top as if it were going to play, but the play timer doesn't start. Help please!!!

  • Some Tabs Not Working in System Preferences

    Mac Pro E2008 14Gb/2Tb.  Installed Mavericks over OS X 10.8.4 with no problems.  Was having some problems with selected fonts not showing up in Pages 5.0.  Ran some font diagnostic software, which isolated some problem fonts.  Subsequent to this I noticed that some Tabs do not work in some preference panes.  In particualr, tha advanced tab in Security and Privacy does not work and the advanced tab does not work in Network Preference pane.  Neither does the + tab in that pane but the - does.  Also cannot edit the three locations that I have in my system.
    Found that all is restored when logged into the root account and also into a Maintainence admin account.  I also ascertained that in my faulty account, after taking out the login items plist and starting with no login items, the fault was still there.  Similarly booting into safe mode did not restore the faulty tabs.  I ran font book and deleted all questionable fonts and moved all the user fonts to the /library/fonts folder.  After each action I restarted rather than logging out.  I have tried deleting the systemuiserver.plist and removing the relevant network plists from the user/library/preferences folder.  I have also removed the com.appl.network.eapoiclient.plist and com.apple.systempreferences.plist.  I have also made invisible files visible and gone through the whole system folder/library folder and ~/library folder and deleted old preferences and obsolete files back to 2004 with the result that my system now loads very much quicker, which is an obvious bonus.  However, the problem still remains and is obviously something to do with the main user account.  If I go into root or my maintainence account, I can change or edit some settings which "stick" when I log back into my main account.  I have carried out the mail and iBook update in the mean time which has not changed anything.
    I have also ran diskwarrior and corrected the disk directory, repaired permissions, reset ACL's and emptied various caches using tinker tool system and mavericks cache cleaner.  I have I think very thoroughly inspected the library and ~/Library folders.
    So, synopsis  (1) Definitely the main account.  (2) No logins or safeboot are not the culprits.
    Whilst not earth shattering and hopefully 10.9.1 may solve the problem, I would be very grateful if anyone could add any further possible problem areas to look at or suggest possible further solutions.
    <Email Edited By Host>

    Hey there, sounds like you've done a lot of the groundwork already although it's not entirely clear what about the preference panes aren't working. There is further isolation that could be performed however if the issue is isolated to your user account as you mentioned then renaming the home folder library preferences, logging out and back in (preventing login items if any) and testing may give you the results you are looking for. If that works I would copy the files from the renamed Preferences folder *not replacing* existing files when prompted (of course if it doesn't work replace the existing Preferences folder with the original renamed Preferences entirely). The same type of troubleshooting also applies to the user library itself however please be careful about launching apps after renaming the ~/library or the contained prefs folder and before copying unaffected plists and/or supporting files back as unexpected results may follow (i.e. lost or missing data). Also if you are eligible for support (which you almost certainly are as you have very recently installed a new OS) I'm sure Applecare may help find a solution.

  • Java program not working using newer version of scheduler (AutoSys)

    A little background: I'm in the middle of trying to upgrade our AutoSys server (scheduler) to the latest version (version R4 to R11) and have to do regression testing to ensure our jobs will work in the new version. There's a small java program that is not working supposedly due to the following error:
    Exception in thread "Main Thread" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/f1j/swing/common/JDKAdapter
    at com.f1j.swing.common.Adapter.<clinit>(Adapter.java:86)
    at com.f1j.swing.engine.ss.JBook.<init>(JBook.java:3032)
    at com.f1j.swing.engine.ss.JBook.<init>(JBook.java:3096)
    at com.test.Foo.performScan(Foo.java:122)
    So in the old version (R4), it runs fine. In R11, I get the exception above. The CLASSPATH matches and I've verified that by echoing it in the shell script that calls the java program. Here's how it's called in the shell script.
    echo $CLASSPATH
    ${JAVA_HOME}/bin/java com.test.Foo
    So the Foo class was written by me, which makes use of this external library called f1j11swing.jar (for spreadsheet creation).
    The source of the error is from this line in Foo (line 122):
              book = new com.f1j.swing.engine.ss.JBook();
    The funny part is JDKAdapter (the missing class) is in the same jar file as JBook, so it definitely finds the library in the classpath. But for some reason, this new AutoSys version is spitting out this error. I've exhausted many approaches to resolving this, but I'm still stuck.
    Here's the layout of how things are called (should be same for R4 and R11):
    1. AutoSys server logs into client machine XYZ as user arnold
    2. arnold (AutoSys client) on XYZ executes shell script to call java program
    The only significant difference I see is that the AutoSys server in R4 is HP while the R11 server is Sun. However, it shouldn't matter because the client server they're logging into to execute the script is the same linux server.
    Does anyone have any ideas? I've already started dialogue with the vendor and it seems kind of in limbo at the moment. Please let me know if you need more info. Thanks.

    Hi DrClap,
    I just checked jre/lib/ext of my $JAVA_HOME and verified that there doesn't exist any library with a class named "Adapter." We don't put anything in this directory other than what came with the original installation. I've tried isolating the jars before as well, by doing something like (to no avail):
    java -cp /users/test/lib/f1j11swing.jar:/users/test/lib/Foo.jar com.test.Foo
    If I remove the f1jswing11.jar path in the above command, it will complain about other things. Also, for fun, I tried dropping f1j11swing.jar into the ext folder and removing it from the CLASSPATH and it yielded the original error. Running it directly from the shell and old version of autosys works fine.
    I hope I understood your suggestion correctly and please let me know if you have any other ideas. I'm surprised why java would act differently with a different version of an AutoSys client logging into the same machine and environment. Thanks.
    xiarce - I haven't heard anything regarding this, but I'll bring it up. Thanks.

  • Update query not working in the JDBC sender Communication channel

    Hi,
    We are working on JDBC to File scenario. As per the configuration, XI should pick the data from SQL database every 20 secs and should update the corresponding flag. We are using subquery in the select and update statement as both header and detail tables are involved.
    Now the issue is, select query is working fine but update statement is not working as expected. It is somehow updating some other records rather than doing for the ones selected by the adapter.
    Moreover logSQLstatement is also not working. Hence we are unable to identify the records which are getting updated.
    Please advise.

    Hi Rumi,
    See Question 8. Transaction Handling (Sender) in [SAP Note 831162 - FAQ: XI 3.0 / PI 7.0 / PI 7.1 JDBC Adapter|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1wdCZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=831162].
    8.  Transaction Handling (Sender)
    Q: If I have the following configured in a JDBC Sender:
    Select Query:
    SELECT column FROM TABLENAME WHERE FLAG = "TRUE"
    Update Query:
    UPDATE TABLENAME SET FLAG = "FALSE" WHERE FLAG = "TRUE"
    How do I know that the JDBC adapter will not update newly added rows (rows that were
    added between the time that the SELECT and UPDATE queries were executed) that were
    not read in the initial SELECT query?
    A: The SELECT and the UPDATE are run in the same DB transaction, i.e. both statements
    have the same view on the database.
    Make sure that both statements use the same WHERE clause. An additional
    requirement for the correct operation of this scenario is the configuration of
    an appropriate transaction isolation level on the database
    (i.e., repeatable_read or serializable). You might also consider using a
    "SELECT FOR UPDATE" statement instead of a plain SELECT statement to
    ensure proper locking on the database. "SELECT FOR UPDATE"
    is not supported in MS SQL database. In this case please make use of an
    appropriate transaction isolation level on the database. For more details
    please contact your DB vendors.
    After, see Transaction Handling Issues in [SAP Note 1039779 - JDBC Adapter issues(Escape character,Transaction handling)|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1wdCZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1039779].

  • Sound not working on my macbook pro(2013)

    Hey,
    I've read the other sound issue posts and done everything on them and it doesn't seem to work. My sound stopped working randomly and I hadn't done the latest software update so I did that but it didn't fix anything. Then I tried all the stuff recommended on the other threads here, still not working. I'm wondering if it could be a virus targetting it?
    The start up sound works but then when I log in it stops working neither speakers nor headphones work. The weird thing is when I log out and go in as guest, everything works just fine. When I did the turn off and then turn on and press command-option-P-R I noticed the screen went blue and the apple logo turned like a weird negative kind of color. Is that expected? It did it both times I tried going through the motions of the other help posts.
    Thanks for any insight/help

    Hello chpinto,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    From your post I understand you're getting no audio output from your built-in speakers.  What exactly do you mean that you've "done everything?" to troubleshoot?  Since you've isolated the issue to being your user account, have you tried booting into safe mode to see if something 3rd party is causing the issue?
