Apache 1.3.12 And Apach-weblogic plug-in
Hi,
I am trying to use the Apache-weblogic server plug-in
with Apache1.3.12.
I don't seem to be getting anywhere.
Has someone tried it?
I followed the apache-bridge.html instruction but
still couldn't get it to work.
If someone has already tried it and it works
can they share relevant parts of their httpd.conf.
Thanks
Can you send us the lines you have added in the httpd.conf file. Also
please
go through the instructions once again and see what have you missed. It
is just a configuration problem.

Upgrading to PHP 5 on Tiger and Apache 1.3
I need a little help with configuring php on my local server. I love XHTML/CSS and a bit of php, WordPress, and Rails - but I'm terrible at this server stuff. I'm petrified of screwing my configuration.
I'm running everything from the default OS X Apache server (I'm on Tiger OS X 10.4.10). I prefer using the internal server to all-in-one apps like MAMP and Locomotive. I have phpMyAdmin v2.10.2, MySQL v5.0.24a, and I think I'm running php 4.4.7 (typing php -v whilst in my document root in terminal returns version 4.4.7).
I now want to use the latest version of php. However, I can't remember if I upgraded php when I was installing MySQL etc. If not, is it possible that I installed the latest version, and I'm just not using at the moment (which could be why terminal is saying it's version 4.4.7)? Is there anyway to check for dormant versions of php or to switch over to running a different version?
If I don't have it, I need to install it. Is there an easy way of doing this via an installer? Is there anything I need to watch-out for whilst I'm attempting this feat?
Also, does Leopard bring many advancements on the server front, i.e. Apache 2, php 5, MySQL etc, which might save me some hassle if I just go through the inevitable OS upgrade sooner rather than later?
Any help is much appreciated.I now want to use the latest version of php. However, I can't remember if I

Well you could try this in terminal:
<pre style="font-family: monospaced;">locate php</pre>
It should show you nearly everything associated with php. As far as what the php version command lists this only picks up the CLI version of php not necessarily whats running on the web server. throw a php file in your webroot with the following code in it to see what the server is using:
<pre style="font-family: monospaced;"><?php phpinfo(); ?></pre>
That will give you the lowdown on what Apache is configured with. this is goign to depend on what mod_php is being used.
Generally i wouldnt upgrade anything that lives in the system as you never know if it might get overwritten or updated when a system update comes down from apple. A better practice is to install the version you want to use to /usr/local/<dirname> so that the installations are isolated and manageable.
If I don't have it, I need to install it. Is there an easy way of doing this via
an installer? Is there anything I need to watch-out for whilst I'm attempting
this feat?
I generally use the php packages from www.entropy.ch just so i dont have to bother with compiling. My versions of Ruby, Apache 2.0.x and Apache 2.2.x i compiled myself, along with an upgraded version of Python and alot of other libraries.
Then you can jsut make some changes to configuration files to use the versions you want. However if you use the entropy.ch packages of php as i suggested the installer takes care of the configuration changes for you. Jsut make sure you grab the one for the proper version of apache youre going to be using it with.
Additionally you could always get Mac/DarwinPorts - whatever its called now... this is a package manager like apt-get or yum under linux. It fetaches the package for you from a repository, and installs it. I dont use these because they use a different dir structure than standard Darwin - ie. the create the /opt folder and install under this. I dont really like that so i dont use them - but that isnt going to cause you any problems, its jsut a preference thing.
Also, does Leopard bring many advancements on the server front, i.e. Apache 2,
php 5, MySQL etc, which might save me some hassle if I just go through the
inevitable OS upgrade sooner rather than later?
I know it comes with apache 2. I think it may also come with php 5.1.6 (5.2.x is avialable though).. not sure about MySQL at all... -

WebLogic 7.0.1 and apache ssl plug-in
I am not seeing any forwarding of SSL requests from Apache to WebLogic once I upgraded
from 7.0.0.1 to 7.0.1 and used the new plug-in. I actually found the plug-in
size for solaris to be smaller then the 7.0.0.1 which I found to be a little strange.
The old plug-in does not work either.
I am not sure if this is a bug or what, just want to see if anyone has a similar
setup and seeing similar issues. We run OpenSSL on Apache 1.3.9 and this was
working fine in 7.0.0.1 and just stopped working for the SSL pages only, the regular
pages pass through no problem.I am not seeing any forwarding of SSL requests from Apache to WebLogic once I upgraded

Apache 1.3.12 and Weblogic 5.1 SP6 Performance downgrade
Hi,
We are developing a transaction site currently using Weblogic 5.1 SP6 as app server
and Apache server 1.3.12 as the web server.
When we hit directly to the weblogic server, bypassing the apache server, the
JSP pages are displayed instantly (max 1-2 sec) but when we route our requests
through Apache server, the response time increases several times (above 15 seconds).
We are testing our application on
* UltraSPARC-IIi 440 MHZ dual processor machine
* 1G RAM
* running Solaris 2.6 and
our database server is
* UltraSPARC-II 400 MHz * 4 box
* with 2G RAM
* running solaris 2.6
* running Oracle 8i
Please help us in identifying the bottleneck, specially for the response from
the weblogic server to the user. The request almost instantaneously reaches the
weblogic server from apache server.
We have installed the apache-weblogic plug-in as specifed in the documentation
at http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/admindocs/apache_bridge.html
regds,
- ashishWhen you reverted back to SP6, did you also revert back the mod_wl??.so
files in apache's /libexec directory?
What did you specify as your WebLogicHost in apache's conf file? If you
are using hostname or a FQDN, try changing that to an IP address or even
127.0.0.1 since I presume what WebLogic is listening on 127.0.0.1 anyway.
My thoughts are, if you are using a non-localhost hostname, it might be
latency with DNS.
Turn DEBUG on so that you can see what the plug-in is getting. Also try
sniffing at what your server is doing in between when apache received
the request up to that Weblogic receives it.

Tried sp8 also but posix performance pack is not activated in sp8 and there are
some other issues like Socket Exceptions whenever the browser window is closed
etc. So, had to revert back to SP6.
Can this be an issue of Apache on Solaris with WLS 5.1 (running in the same box)?

Otherwise, you can try turning on debugging for the plug-in, as stated
on the doc ... or try SP8.
I am running a development / test server of WLS 5.1 SP6 on Linux, with
Apache and the plug-in, and it seems to be just as fast as accessing
WLS
directly.

Multiple Apache-Weblogic plug-in configurations for the same host
Hi BEA,
I have a situation where I have more than one weblogic server/cluster both using
the same Apache to proxy. Reading the Apache plug-in configuration I gather that
below should work. In Apache (httpd.conf):
<Location /path1>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WeblogicHost app1
WeblogicPort 7001
</Location>
<Location /path2>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WeblogicHost app2
WeblogicPort 7001
</Location>
In this case the later Location of the two works fine and the other seems like
it is just not there. (If the two are switched the other works fine...) The thing
is that, if possible, I would like to avoid splitting the two locations onto two
different VirtualHosts (which works).
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this and still avoid the use of multiple
VirtualHost-definitions?
Is it due to a limitation in Apache module architecture that the configuration
above does not work or is it a design choice in the plug-in?
//GG
Gunnar,
I would post this Apache proxy plug in question to the
weblogic.developer.interest.plug-in forum

Apache - Weblogic plug-in - Segmentation fault. Please Help me!
Hi all,
Im trying to set up Apache weblogic plug-in, and im having problems with
that.
Im running Solaris 9 with Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) and Weblogic 7 with sp2.
Here is what i did:
I copied mod_wl_ssl.so from
/bea/weblogic700/server/lib/solaris/mod_wl_ssl.so to /usr/apache/libexec
Added entries in httpd.conf as
LoadModule weblogic_module /usr/apache/libexec/mod_wl_ssl.so
AddModule mod_weblogic.c
<LocationMatch "\.jsp$">
SetHandler weblogic-handler
StatPath false
</LocationMatch>
<LocationMatch "/(service1|service2|service3)/">
SetHandler weblogic-handler
StatPath false
</LocationMatch>
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
WebLogicHost 127.0.0.1
WebLogicPort 7001
HungServerRecoverSecs 300
ConnectTimeoutSecs 5
</IfModule>
When i access the url with out specifying port 7001 it's not working.
I checked the /var/apache/logs/error_log file. Im getting the error as
child pid 805 exit signal Segmentation Fault (11)
Am i missing anything here?
Thank you
RajaYou may want to check the certifications for Solaris 9 and the Apache plug-in at
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/certifications/certifications/sun_solaris9.html#40366.
It looks like you will have to upgrade to at least Apache 2.0.39. We had to do
this on Solaris 8 as well.

I believe this is going to require more debugging such as attachinga
debugger(gdb) to Apache and getting a backtrace.
I suggest opening up a support case.

Hi Eric,
Thank you for the replies.

same
problem.

Im running Solaris 9 in SPARC platform. It's a Sun E450 server.
Im using the default apache package which comes with Solaris 9. Ididn't
do
anything with apache.
Bea website says that Weblogic 7 sp2 is certified for Soalris 9.
That's
y
i
installed Solaris 9.
I tested the same on a Linux Machine (Redhat Linux 7.1 on IA). It
works
fine
without any problem.
How can i make things work?
Thank you for your kind replies

Looks like it should work.
Let's simplify your test:
<Location /test>
WebLogicHost 127.0.0.1
WebLogicPort 7001
Debug ALL
DebugConfigInfo ON
SetHandler weblogic-handler
</Location>
Try with just that.
Another thing is that I am unsure as to whether we have tested
with
Solaris
9. This is SPARC right? Also, can you outline the steps you took
when
building apache? Did you use GCC?
Thanks,

WebLogicHost 127.0.0.1
WebLogicPort 7001
Debug ALL
DebugConfigInfo ON
StatPath true
HungServerRecoverSecs 300

But im getting the same error. NO wlproxy.log file is created

I tried Debug ON also. Still the same.
Am i doing anything wrong?

That means that your apache instance is compiled with -DEAPI
and
should
use
the mod_wl_ssl.so.
Can you please try to set Debug ALL and get the log in
/tmp/wlproxy.log
and
share that?
Thanks,

Hi Eric,

plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under
EAPI!

recompile it with -DEAPI)
Thank you

Are you using modssl or any apache with EAPI compiled in?
Otherwise, you should be using the mod_wl.so.
As well, please set Debug ALL to see if we can get more
debug.

Should be OK. I was running that combination for a while and can't recall any serious issues during install.
I am currently running 8.0.5.1 on a Mandrake 7.2 PC. The install was pretty straightforward :
- Install compatability RPMs (I used slightly higher versioned RPMs than listed in the Oracle documentation);
- Install 8.0.5.1 s/w;
- Apply Oracle patch;
- Create dbs;
- Configure listener;
- Create the startup/shutdown rc script and links.
That's about it for the installation.
I haven't put the database to much use yet, so there may be other issues ahead :)
Oh, one thing to note on that last point is that you should have a look at how the /etc/rc.d/rc file operates.
Under Mandrake 7.2 it will look for a file in /var/lock/subsystem that has the same name as the /etc/init.d script before running the stop script correctly.
This differs slightly from what I see in the *8.1.7* documentation, so might be due to a difference between mandrake and the other distributions.
FWIW here is my /etc/init.d/oracle file.
#!/bin/sh
# chkconfig: 345 99 10

I have a problem with using Apache 2.2.3 as a WebLogic SSL proxy. I have Apache 2.2 running and successfully configured an SSL cert, config in ssl.conf is...
<VirtualHost secure.daftdonkey.com>
# Setup SSL for secure.daftdonkey.com
ServerName secure.daftdonkey.com
SSLEngine On
SSLCertificateFile /oracle/secure/secure.daftdonkey.com.crt
SSLCertificateKeyFile /oracle/secure/secure.daftdonkey.com.key
SSLCertificateChainFile /oracle/secure/gd_bundle.crt
</VirtualHost>
This works fine
Now I want Apache to proxy requests to my WebLogic Server and secure them over SSL as well
e.g. a request to https://secure.daftdonkey.com/service goes to https://weblogic.internal.site/service
I have downloaded and configured the weblogic module and tested it handling traffic for HTTP and that worked, then I switched the WebLogic module to use SSL.
LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl.so
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
WebLogicHost weblogic.internal.site
WebLogicPort 16101
Debug ALL
SecureProxy ON
WLSSLWallet /oracle/secure/my-wallet
WLLogFile /tmp/wl-proxy.log
</IfModule>
<Location /service>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
</Location>
Starting Apache throws the error. I think this is my main problem, i've searched support.oracle.com and not found anything.

CF8 on Weblogic 10.0 and Apache
I am trying to configure CF8 as an EAR file on Weblogic 10.0
and configuring it with Apache webserver. The settings for Weblogic
are made as mentioned in the configuration document and CF8 is
working fine on Weblogic.
Now for Apache connectivity, a connector is configured for
Weblogic which handles *.cfm files requests as well.
- The CFM files are kept in webserver and when I try to open
a cfm file, the proxy is getting invoked but since Weblogic doesn't
find the file URI it returns 404.
- Please let me know how can the CFM files kept on Webserver
be rendered using CF8 deployed on Weblogic
Or there is a need for these files to be kept on the Weblogic
Appserver onlysam_cf09 wrote:

Sure. If you want to put a file example.cfm in a WAR file,
put it in the
root of the WAR. Your folder structure will look something
like:
WAR/
WAR/example.cfm
WAR/WEB-INF
WAR/WEB-INF/web.xml
WAR/WEB-INF/*
WAR/WEB-INF/cfusion
WAR/WEB-INF/cfusion/lib/
etc.
Then if you have a context root "/test" in your
Application.xml you can
reach your template through the URL
http://server/test/example.cfm
The best way to get a WAR (or EAR) file for deployment is to
run the
installer. It has the option to generate a WAR or EAR for
you. Use that,
then later unjar it to see how it looks internally.

Hi,
We are developing an application using WebLogic ejb and servlet and we
are planning to use Apache as the HTTP server. Are there any know
issues about this combination?
According to the manual, the mod_proxy of Apache can be used to link
Apache and Weblogic. Has anybody done that?
Thanks,
Cecil Pang

This doesn't sound like a definitive answer. Are you saying we will NOT
support you if you use Apache?
Should it work? What are people doing wrong? The answer below isn't
much help IMHO.

Sessions wth WL8.1 and Apache Plug In
We are currently facing problems with session failover with WL 8.1(SP4) and Apache(2.0.54) plugin.
Just wanted to know if session replication works across different subnets.
We have Managed Servers running on different subnets which are part of a single cluster. Session replication works (tested with the sample InMemRepClient application supplied with weblogic) when machines within the subnet are up and fails when machines within the same subnet are down, although machines are up in a different subnet.
Does weblogic allow session replpication to work across different clusters with different subnets?
Is this a limitaion with WL8.1 and is this session replication work across subnets with WL9?
Thanks.I believe that we recommend having all the managed srevers in a single subnet. However, even if the cluster spans more than one subnet, you can configure the Multicast Time-To-Live (TTL) parameter for the cluster and it will work fine. Please have a look on following pieces of documentation:
"If Your Cluster Spans Multiple Subnets in a WAN" on http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/cluster/features.html
And
"Configure Multicast Time-To-Live (TTL)" on http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/cluster/setup.html#732108
Hope this helps. -

WebLogic 9.2 and Apache 2.2.X
Does anyone know whether BEA supports WebLogic 9.2 with Apache 2.2.X web server? If so, is there any documentation? Which wlproxy do you use? If not, does anyone know when BEA will support this? By the way, we are running on Solaris 10. Thanks!
As far as I am aware there are on only plugins for Apache 1.3.x and 2.0.x.
I believe the documentation for WLS9 recommends Apache 2.0.x using a multi-threading mpm such as worker. This is what I use on our setups both Solaris (9 & 10) and Linux (RHEL 4)
Anyone from BEA know if an Apache plugin for 2.2.x is planned?
