Apache and encrypted images

Sorry if this is a wrong section for this question. I have set one of the apache vhosts to point to an encrypted mounted DMG file. If i navigate to the website, i get a 403 error. It seems that something is wrong with permissions. For some reason, apache can create an error log in the same directory, but it can't serve the page from it. Any ideas?

OK so if anyone else struggles with this problem (or even if you have launched filevault and you can't access your site anymore), here's the fix that worked for me:
chmod +a "_www allow search" /Directory
In here:
_www - a user that apache runs from (check in /etc/apache2/httpd.conf)
/Directory - a folder you want to give access to (that would be your home directory in case of FileVault and the mountpoint in case of an encrypted image)
Hope this helps someone

  • Apache and encrypted sparseimage

    Hi there,
I'm having trouble setting the DocumentRoot of the build-in Apache to an encrypted but properly mounted image. I use /etc/apache2/httpd.conf to change the DocumentRoot to let's say /Volumes/Test/Documents. After restarting apache http://localhost/ returns "Permission denied".
Then I used hdiutil to attach the image with owners=on. Then I granted read/write for www on Test but still the same error, permission denied.
If I use an unencrypted Image I can change the DocumentRoot without any problems to let's say /Volumes/Test2/Documents.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you in advance!

  • How can I mount an encrypted image automatically and get a password window

    Hello
I know how to mount an encrypted image automatically when I login and get myself a password window.  (I actually how I did it at the moment though).  I had a cronjob log me out at say 5am every day and I force myself to login everyday.
Now I have a need to keep the login session forever.  I would therefore like to mount the image automatically at a specified time daily and get the same window prompt.  If do it from a bash prompt with 'hdiutil attach /path' I am getting a password prompt at the bash instead of a password windows.  I am thinking of putting that command in cronjob.
What must I do to get a password window automagically?  If doing it via cronjob is wrong, I am open to other proper Mac way.
    Thanks
    mr.wu

You can use Automator and iCal. Use Automator's Run Shell Sript action and enter hdiutil attach /path. Save the workflow as an iCal plugin. Set iCal to run the workflow when you want. You can also save the workflow as an application, and set up an iCal alarm to run that application at a specified time.

  • Displaying Encrypted Image File in Crystal Report

    Hi Folk,
I have a problem to display an encrypted file in crystal report with transparent background.
I have a column varbinary(Max)  in SQL Server Database which stores  image bytes. I have decrypted this column before displaying in crystal report. The report display the image but with a black background instead of transparent.
Is there an answer to this ...
    Thanks

I believe jpg and bmp images are supported

  • Problems with Apache and custom JSPs

    Hi
We've made an application on top of IFS, using JWS in our test envirnment. Just before making some stress tests, I'd like to try it using Apache. We're currently having two problems:
    1) I switch to the apache configuration running ifsconfig and not selecting JWS. When I try to access the ifs using http://host/ifs/files, everything goes well except that the "logout" icon doesn't appear. I did a little research and found out that the link goes to /ifs/webui/images/logout.gif. This gives an error in mod_jserv.log, like this one:
[07/06/2001 22:54:20:315] (ERROR) ajp12: Servlet Error: ClassNotFoundException: webui
It seems it's trying to find a "webui" class, since in ifs.properties every url that begins with /ifs goes to jserv.
I don't know if this is a know problem or what should I've check...
    2) This one is more important. We're using some custom JSPs, which we use to edit the properties of some types of documents. Basically, when the user clicks over a file one of our JSP appears. These JSPs call a bean to do some processing, passing the HttpRequest as a parameter. The problem is that when using JWS we get the "path" request variable like in path=/%3A29464
However, when using Apache we get path=/ifs/files/%3A29464 ( and afterwards we get an exception because the ifsSession.getPublicObject method doesn't work).
Any hints on this? One way could be to check if the path begins with /ifs/files, but that's not really nice.. and besides I could have the same problem in some other parts.
    It's kind of urgent....
    Thanks

    Hi,
The answer to your path problem is that you can make use of API to find out the current path so that it works both with Apache and with JWS. Follow the steps
    1. import the oracle.ifs.adk.http package in your custom jsps
    <%@ page import = "oracle.ifs.adk.http.*" %>
    2. Then within your jsp use the method
    getIfsPathFromJSPRedirect
    <%= oracle.ifs.adk.http.HttpUtils.getIfsPathFromJSPRedirect(request) %>
This will give you the current path of the object on which you clicked on and which initiates the custom jsp.
You can look at the CMS application which has made use of this API. URL is
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/products/ifs/sample_code_index.htm
Choose, sample applicatin -> Content Management system.
    Hope this helps

  • Digital singning and encryption

I developed Web Sevices with Soap messages Encripted and Signed with Apache XML Security (AXIS compatible) but now I'm working with Oracle 10g. I like to use the 10g's new features (JAX-RPC, Soap, UDDI, etc) but I like to still sending Encripted and Signed messages. Anyone know if Xml Security is compatible with 10g or if there are another Library like Apache's one?

  • Command-line support for encrypted images

    Hi,
Is there any support in asr for performing restores using an encrypted image directly? I can't seem to find anything. It isn't much of a burden I guess to mount the image and then use it (now that I know that, anyway), but it seems like an oversight that asr can't just be given a password directly.
Similarly for hdiutil, it has some support for encrypted images, but some things seem to be missing. At the very least you can't convert an encrypted image into an unencrypted image because convert doesn't understand that.
Are these known issues? Are there plans to add this functionality? Or is it considered unnecessary since there's other ways around it?
    tom

Sorry for my ignorance, when you say you installed every driver in there are you referring to adding them to the driver database or to your bootwim. Also if you cant grab the logs you might be able to get a report based on an unknown system, look in reporting
under "History of a task sequence deployment on a computer" if there was anything recorded before it bombed out you might be able to get some info.
Im still leaning towards a network driver though, can you snap an image of the drivers you have loaded into your preferred bootwim.

  • Apache and Firefox2 on Netware65 SP6

    Hi
someone must know the answer to this, i have just built a very basic
site with sharepoint designer and have copied it to the
sys:apache2\htdocs folder and in IE it works fine, when i try to access
the site with firefox i just get
at the top left hand corner of the page, if i copy the contents of the
htdocs folder to an IIS server it works fine on both IE and firefox 2,
so its something to do with apache and firefox.
    Anyone got any ideas ?

  • Trying to password protect a file.  Encrypted image created...now what?

    I read this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1578
and I have created an encrypted image (.dmg) with no issue.
I'm trying to password protect a file on my computer.  It is a Word document.  I can't figure out how to move it to the encrypted image.
The support article said, "You can move files to or from an encrypted disk image as easily as you can from a non-encrypted disk image."
I tried dragging the file to the image....nothing.
Not sure where to go from here.  Thanks in advance for the help.
    Chrystal

The advice you're getting from mende1 is not accurate. If you accurately followed the directions at that link you gave, the disk image is certainly not read-only! When creating a new disk image, the default is to create a read/write image, so unless you changed that setting when creating the disk image, that's not your problem.
My suspicion is that you're not using the image file properly. Once you have the disk image file, here's what you need to do to put the Word file in question on it:
    1) Double-click the disk image file that you created. This will "mount" the disk image as a "disk," which will show up on your desktop (if you have the Finder set to show such things on the desktop) or in the sidebar of any Finder window.
    2) Drag the Word file onto the "disk" - NOT the disk image file! It should copy the Word file onto the "disk".
    3) "Eject" the "disk" by dragging it (NOT the disk image file!) to the trash, or clicking the eject icon next to it in the sidebar of a Finder window. Once the disk is ejected, the file is locked and the contents cannot be accessed without the password.
    4) For the most security, put the original Word file in the trash and choose Secure Empty Trash from the Finder menu. Before doing this, though, it would be wise to try to re-open the disk image and make sure you successfully copied the Word file onto it, and that you can open it just fine.

  • IPad and encrypted dmg directory

    Hi
I just built an encrypted document directory on my Mac (so the result is a .dmg file), and I have put it on a remote Linux server to have backup in case something happens to my Mac. Is there a way from my iPad to get access to the content of this .dmg file on my remote server?
    1) by downloading it and then read the content in the iPad? (I would hate that because it would take a while)
    2) or by remotely accessing to it? (a kind of remote mount to get access to my files)
Would it be possible to create an app talking the second proposal?
    Thanks

When creating an encrypted .dmg - at what point in the process can you determine the size of the initial image so that it will accommodate future additional files?
At the very beginning When you click New Image in the disk utility. You can choose the volume size.
    Just make it large enough.
You can always create a new, larger encrypted image later and move everything into it.
Please keep it simple ... and thanks in advance.

  • Erasing Files From Encrypted Images

    Hi,
I have an encrypted image containing several files. My question is that if I were to move a file to the trash from an encrypted image would I still have to perform a secure empty trash to ensure the data was not retrievable?
I know that when you are accessing files within an encrypted image such as a movie, Leopard only decrypts the current position of the movie being played. I know that throwing away an encrypted dmg image would not have to be erased securely since the only data that can be retrieved is encrypted.

You are making assumptions about the conditions under which the OP is working and using the disk image.
Suppose you are a physician using "FileVault" routinely, and among other things, you have a file containing confidential patient information about someone with a high public profile in your "home" folder. Suppose your work is going to take you overseas. Being aware of current laws in some jurisdictions that require you to surrender your computer and provide all passwords required to access the information it contains, you decide to remove that one sensitive file before leaving.
In this situation, a concerned individual might be inclined to at least ask, to double-check if there a point to deleting the item securely or if it is sufficient to just "Trash" them. Or maybe they are concerned about the recoverability of a file deleted some time ago.
..."From what it sounds like to me you are saying that the only way to protect your files is to securely erase all of them."...
Not necessarily all of them, but when getting rid of sensitive ones, that's exactly what I am saying.
If someone asks about the retrievability of items deleted from the "Trash" in a security context, the answer is fairly straight forward - yes or no, and under what circumstances. If the answer is "yes", that they may be retrievable, whether or not you think taking precaustions is relevant because you happen to have other security measures in place, or if you think it is inefficient to do so is beside the point.

    Hello,
This KB might apply to your situation:
KB11454Encrypted files stored on the microSD media card appear as .rem files
Read very carefully the last statement:
"If encryption on the BlackBerry smartphone is broken (for example, all data and applications are removed from the BlackBerry smartphone), the files remain encrypted and there is no way to recover them."
    Good luck!

I am trying to import developed images from LightRoom 5 Photoshop 6 for further editing.  I am receiving this message and the images will not open.....'Could not open scratch file because the file is locked, or you do not have necessary access permissions or another program is using the file.  Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file. How do I fix this?  I would greatly appreciate it if you would respond with terms and procedures that a computer ignorant user, such as me, will understand.   Thanks.

Have you tried restoring the Preferences yet?

  • Web of Trust no longer working with google and bing image searches

    Hello All,
I have searched and searched but have not found an answer that matches my specifics. Any help would be appreciated.
I used to be able to do this but now I can no longer search and browse images on google or bing image search and have Web of Trust function. Here is how I am going about it.
    What I use:
DuckDuckGo's annoymous google or bing image search link when I enter querries. Also, searching directly from Google's or Bing's image search page doesn't work with WOT anymore either.
    Firefox 23.0.1
    The following add-on's:
    Add-block plus 2.3.2
    BetterPrivacy 1.68
    Flagfox 4.2.12
    Ghostery 5.0.4
    Google/Yandex search link fix 1.4.1
    No Script 2.6.7.1
    Web of Trust 20130515
If anyone has a fix for this please let me know.

I guess what I learned is that sometimes the best solution is to do nothing and wait for the problem to solve itself! Funny, this has never worked for me before.
WOT is now working for me but often for only the first few rows of images. That's cool that it is also working with bing images.
Boudica, thanks for understanding. I am new contributor/ question-asker here on mozilla and may not understand how things are done. I was just frustrated, getting an email saying that my question was answered, logging in to find that it wasn't.
Now we have the functionality that we wanted, right?
