Apache authentication using Oracle dB
I'm a newbie trying to find out how do u set up apache to look at tables in an oracle db to get username, password, and group. I've seen mod_auth_mysql, and other mofules, but I haven't been able to find a module that works with oracle. I'm not sure but should I use the mod_auth_external ? Thanks for your help.
Thanks for the links.
So the ADF security is built on OPSS which in turn uses the Weblogic Server.
So does that mean that say i wanted to make up some pages that were integrated into an already existing CRM system (EBS R12) that i'd also need to install/setup Weblogic server on the existing EBS server? Couldn't i just use the existing Application Server? Or would Weblogic server already be on as standard?
Sorry if they are daft questions.
I can see that the ADF security can have user and groups setup. However what i wanted to avoid is users having to login twice to two different systems. What i want is that users can be using the CRM system and click a button which fires up a custom jsp or similiar page (which is seemless to the users cause its still part of the CRM application) which pulls data from another source for instance. But when they do this i want the implemenation to make sure they are currently logged in correctly to the CRM system. Does that make sense?

Apache authentication using .htaccess not working??
I have added the following to my httpd.conf file:
<Directory "/Library/WebServer/Documents/secret">
Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
</Directory>
Then I created an .htaccess file in /Library/WebServer/Documents/secret with the following contents:
AuthName "Private area - server owner only. Hit Cancel."
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /Library/WebServer/.htpasswd
require valid-user
Then in Terminal I entered the following:
htpasswd -c /Library/WebServer/.htpasswd s1lly
New password: rabb1t
Re-type new password: rabb1t
Adding password for user s1lly
Thn I stopped and re-started Apache using the OS X Server Admin apps. Now when I go to http://localhost/secret in my browser, it asks me for a username & password. I enter s1lly and rabb1t, but all it tells me is:
"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /secret/ on this server.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at localhost Port 80"
What am I doing wrong? Before I added the .htaccess file and changed the httpd.conf, everything worked properly, so I know the URLs are correct. All files are set to be world-readable.
Changing the .htaccess line from require valid-user to require user s1lly didn't help either.
Thanks,
Mike

<Directory "/Library/WebServer/Documents/secret">

Shouldn't that be AllowOverride AuthConfig? With it set to "None", Apache shouldn't be looking at the .htaccess file at all.

JSF Authentication using Oracle XE
Hi,
I would like to know which is the Easiest way to make a Login Page very similar to the one described in this Tutorial:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/jsfintro/jsfintro.htm
but authenticating Login from an Oracle XE Database Table. A very simple one, for example one that simply has two fields: user and password.
A step by step guide would be certainly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.Thank you very much sir.
Well, that article seems very much complex to be honest, I am not familiar with JAAS, and some other technologies described there, I have to stick to JSF only in my case.
If it's not much asking I just would like to know, If there's a way to retrieve the user and the password directly from the table, AFTER I have created an appropiate connection to the selected database which contains the USERS table.
Once I have done that, Which Objects would be neccesary to create? and what code do I need to put in the backing bean to authenticate from the Database the values in the Input Text corresponding to the user and password? -
Hi!
I am trying to compile the above packets but am running into massive problems.
PHP3 compiles well, if i try to use the "normal" static module for Apache, but the Apache configure script says that it needs an ANSI C compiler and stops.
I am using GCC 2.7.2.3 with the bugfixes from SuSe.
Since that did not work I tried the configuration as a Dynamic Module. The Apache "Readme.config" explains two ways to do so, but the first has the same problem with GCC and the second (via APXS) compiles Apache without problems, but PHP3 wont compile since it does not find a library. The exact error is: "/usr/i486-linux/bin/ld: cannot open -lclntsh: No such file or directory"
I found a libclntsh.so.8.0 in the oracle/lib directory, but since i fumbled around with this library (i tried ln -s libclntsh.so.8.0 libclntsh.so) sqlplus says libclntsh.so.8.0: cannot find file data: no such file or directory (even now that the link is deleted again).
And PHP still wont compile. Any ideas would be welcome.
P.S.: Is it normal that Oracle has to be told NOT to create a database during install, TO create a database???
We worked for 3 days on the Oracle installation and that was the only way to install Oracle without errors.
thx

SuSe 6.2 have a patch file for Oracle made from their developers.
Never use Oracle 8.1.5.0.1 patch file that doesn't work because

Use SuSe 6.2 Oracle patch set.

Oracle 9i/10G DB authentication using Active Directory (with out OID)
Hello All,
We want to use a Single-Password authentication scheme using the Active
Directory as the primary source for userId/Password.
We don't want to use the Active Directory and OID bridge.
As we have many databases and would like to configure all Databases to use Active
Directory for Authentication. Our goal is to have single id/password across all
the databases and any user should be able to login from any computer using their
windows id/password, note that we don't want to use the OSAuthentication.
We have read the documents provided by oracle for authentication using Active
Directory, we were able to create Oracle Schema in Active Directory and were
also able to register a DB with Active Directory and then created user as global
user in Oracle Database and provided the DN of the user. When we tried
authenticate with all this setup it comes back and says invalid ID/Password !!!
And with 10G database we get the Oracle Error ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel !!
Has any one tried or have information on Integrating Oracle to Auth against Active Directory?
Envoirnment:
Oracle DB Version: 9.2.0 and also tried on 10.0.1 with same results
Operating System: Windows 2000/ Windows 2000 Server
Constraint: We don't want to user OID ( as we don't have license for this
product ! )I have a thread started similar to your request.
OS Authenication on Windows
Somewhere I read this. It works on Oracle 9i on Linux, but I have not tried it with Oracle 9i on Windows.
SHOW PARAMETER OS_AUTHENT_PREFIX;
SHOW PARAMETER REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT;
CREATE USER OPS$SOMEUSER IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
GRANT CREATE SESSION TO OPS$SOMEUSER;
For the username, I wonder if we are supposed to put the Windows Domain name as part of the username? Such as, for a Windows domain user MyDomain\SomeUser
CREATE USER OPS$MYDOMAIN\SOMEUSER IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
I really wish Oracle or somebody created a guide or book on how to do this. -

On the OHS side I have all the certificates needed so SSL is working properly. The weblogic environment is currently working fine with other webgates, but those are apache and we are trying to switch to OHS.
Can OHS use mod_proxy to connect to weblogic or do I need to use mod_wl_ohs?
Does anyone see anything wrong in my ssl.conf file in regards to the proxy section.
Thanks in advance.In summary:
You need to create a new wallet with CSR (certificate signing req)
Send this to your certificate authority and get the signed server certificate.
Now import the signed server cert and the trusted root cert in to the wallet that you created newly.
Modify ssl.conf to point to the new wallet location.
To create wallet refer to : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25054_01/core.1111/e10105/wallets.htm#CHDGIJDC

However, when I type the value of the string sqlcmd (used in the PreparedStatement) directly into Oracle, the update works. An example of that string is:
update listserv_waiting_list SET CONFIRMED = 'YES' WHERE UEMAIL = '[email protected]' and USERID = '1142369642862';
It contains no stange character and rows are inserted successfully in another class of the program that uses the same mechanism. The problem comes when I update the table.
Any idea as to what is wrong? Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nguessanbuddy, why don't you use a stored procedure and make your update, i hate that upkeeping.

APEX app using Oracle Text to index pages that require authorzation
Hi Gurus and APEX Dev team
My team need to develop an APEX App that will index all our documents spread across various servers. Some of the documents require Single sign on access (e.g. KIX.oraclecorp.com) and some require other authorization methods (e.g. Metalink) . The Question is , Is it possible to index the pages that require authorization using Oracle text. If yes How? I have implemented the demo app which can index pages that do not require authorization.
Thanks a million
regards
BalaHello,
Unless I misunderstand you, the fact that the pages require authentication doesn't really matter, it is the underlying data you want to index correct? If so then you would index them in exactly the same way that you would index any table data using Oracle Text/interMedia.
John.

Edited by: 980473 on Jan 8, 2013 2:01 AMHi ,
Check if you have jstil.jar in WEB-INF/lib location , if missing manually add jstl.jar into WEB-INF/lib restart UCM Managed server .
Hope this helps.

Receiving files from site using oracle service bus
Hi,
I need to create a solution, using oracle service bus to access a webpage, make authentication, and then receive a zip file. This is possible using osb?
Regars!Sounds like you just need a "Messaging type" business service (http based) which points to the ZIP file URL. Input type "none", output type "binary" and with a service account attached with the username/pwd for the ZIP file.... but once you have the zip file binary content - then what do you want to do with it in the message flow ?

Oracle BI Publisher - can not access Shared Folder , using Oracle BI Server
Hi there,
We have an installed OBIEE and BIP (BI Publisher) system which is the security setting of BIP using "Oracle BI Server".
Our OBIEE security is using the combination of LDAP (authentication) and Relational Table (for grouping user privillege)
The integration connection between OBIEE and BIP is successfull, and I can connect using Administrator to the BIP
But when I assign a general user using group : XMLP_Admin (define in rpd file and relational table), the user can log in to BIP, but can NOT access the Shared Folder.
the error desc : "Error 500: SRVE0199E: OutputStream already obtained"
Anyone can help ?
Thanks a lot
-toniDid you define Roles and Permissions to the shared folder from BIP Admin?

Newbie in using Oracle...
Hi everybody,
I am new here and new in using Oracle database or other tools, can you tell me what do I need to install in chronological order in order to learn how to use Oracle database as back-end for Visual Studio .Net 2003/2005/2008 projects?? Also, any suggestions on very useful books to learning to use Oracle (PL/SQL syntax), preferably showing equivalent of MS SQL syntax to Oracle SQL syntax and other things.
List of possible downloads:
1. Oracle Database 10g Express edition(Western European)
2. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Universal)
3. Oracle Database 10g Express Client
Which of these 3 I need to download?
1. Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET with Oracle 10g Release 2
2. ODAC 10.2.0.2.21
3. Oracle 10g Release 2 ODAC 10.2.0.2.21
4. Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET (for Oracle Database 10g Express Edition)
5. Oracle 10g ODAC 10.1.0.4.0
6. Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET 10.1.0.4
7. Oracle 9i Release 2 ODAC 9.2.0.7.0
Which of these above I needed for Visual Studio .Net 2003/2005/2008 (Windows App, ASP.Net, Web Service and .Net Remoting)??
Thanks.
