Apache proxy, Node.js and Default Websites

Hello everyone !
I'm currently using a mac mini server under OS X Mavericks (10.9.1) and Server 3.0.2
I've been very happy with it, and found it was quite nice to use... until I decided to host a Ghost blog (https://ghost.org) on it. Ghost runs on Node.js (http://nodejs.org).
I have a domain (domain.com), and two subdomains (www.domain.com and sub.domain.com).
The server and it's default websites use sub.domain.com, with http://sub.domain.com redirecting to https://sub.domain.com
I want to use both domain.com and www.domain.com for the blog.
Using cloudflare for the DNS, I created a CNAME for domain.com, pointing to www.domain.com (domain.com CNAME www.domain.com).
Node.js and Ghost install both went well, with Node.js listening on port 2368.
I then started configuring a virtual host (www.domain.com) in the Server.app for the Ghost blog , along with an Apache Reverse Proxy, by editing www.domain.com's .conf and replacing everything in it by
<VirtualHost 10.0.1.2:80>
     ServerName www.domain.com
     ProxyPreserveHost on
     ProxyPass / http://localhost:2368/
</VirtualHost>
Going to www.domain.com, I correctly end up on the Ghost blog.
But, amusingly and annoyingly, when trying to access the default website through sub.domain.com... it's also the blog that shows up !
After setting up another website (sub2.domain.com) in the Server.app and configuring the DNS appropriately at Cloudflare, I could notice that I end up on the default page for "empty" websites (the "welcome to Server... blabla" page).
So the server's default website is the only one getting this issue...
I've been spending two days on it, trying nearly every other Apache Reverse Proxy configuration I could find (yes, even the weird one where you go through DNS settings that you can find somewhere in these forums).
Anyway, some help would be greatly appreciated

Ok... So, while I did not find a solution, I did find a workaround.
Get ready people...
First, create www.yourdomain.com on port 8080 in the Server App.
Then, create www.yourdomain.com on port 80 in the Server App, and choose to make a redirection from this site to www.yourdomain.com:8080.
After, go to the 0000_any_8080_www.yourdomain.com.conf file, and open it with textedit.
Replace everything in it with
<VirtualHost *:8080>
     ServerName www.domain.com
     ProxyPreserveHost on
     ProxyPass / http://localhost:2368/
</VirtualHost>
Save it (don't forget replace the original 0000_any_8080_www.yourdomain.com.conf with it if needed and to keep the.conf extension)
And there you go !
For SSL, do the same thing, except you need to replace the 80 port by the 443 port, and the 8080 port by the 8443. And don't forget the certificates, for both of them.

  • Problem with WebLogic 10.3.3, Apache 2.2.3 and WebLogic Apache proxy plugin

    I have a problem with using Apache 2.2.3 as a WebLogic SSL proxy. I have Apache 2.2 running and successfully configured an SSL cert, config in ssl.conf is...
    <VirtualHost secure.daftdonkey.com>
    # Setup SSL for secure.daftdonkey.com
    ServerName secure.daftdonkey.com
    SSLEngine On
    SSLCertificateFile /oracle/secure/secure.daftdonkey.com.crt
    SSLCertificateKeyFile /oracle/secure/secure.daftdonkey.com.key
    SSLCertificateChainFile /oracle/secure/gd_bundle.crt
    </VirtualHost>
    This works fine
    Now I want Apache to proxy requests to my WebLogic Server and secure them over SSL as well
    e.g. a request to https://secure.daftdonkey.com/service goes to https://weblogic.internal.site/service
    I have downloaded and configured the weblogic module and tested it handling traffic for HTTP and that worked, then I switched the WebLogic module to use SSL.
    LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl.so
    <IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
    WebLogicHost weblogic.internal.site
    WebLogicPort 16101
    Debug ALL
    SecureProxy ON
    WLSSLWallet /oracle/secure/my-wallet
    WLLogFile /tmp/wl-proxy.log
    </IfModule>
    <Location /service>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    </Location>
    Starting Apache throws the error. I think this is my main problem, i've searched support.oracle.com and not found anything.

    I found the answer to this. The documentation is not clear enough, LD_LIBRARY_PATH MUST be set and MUST have a pointer to the directory where the SSL .so modules are. I wrote up a blog article explaining the configuration and detailed this issue.

  • How to Install BAM Alerts in multi environment in 2013 R2? How to point to a single BAM Portal(Default WebSite) configured on BTS APP server1 from BTS App Server 2 and BTS App Server 3 ?

    Please guide me on BAM install in multi environment for 2013 R2. Any blog which can show, how to configure multiple BTS servers to point to a single BAM portal created on the first server.
    The BAM portal is configured on the Default Website on the first server.
    How Could I Point to the same portal while configuring other 2 BTS servers?
    What are the authentication mechanisms, I have to use at virtual directories and root level?

    The document for installing BAM for B2K13 in a multi-computer environment is available as part of the BizTalk documentation available for download from
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=35552
    You will most likely also need to refer to the TechNet Blog
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/07/26/fixed-biztalk-2013-bam-tools-configuration-problem.aspx which mentions having to setup SQL Mail feature in SQL Server 2012 and post that configuring both the features BAM Tools and BAM Alerts together.

  • Apache proxy and SSL

    Hi,
    I've been trying to set up the Apache proxy plug-in on Linux to handle SSL.
    However, there seems to be no documentation on this and among the many
    threads about this dilema, no one seems to have a solution. Can BEA post
    any documentation on this subject to clarify things?
    In case anyone has found a solution or is able to help, I was able to
    successfully proxy JSP requests to Weblogic using the mod_wl.so. However,
    when I swapped this for mod_wl_ssl.so, Apache never reached the Weblogic
    again. It seemed to look into its own root directory to locate and JSP file
    (of course, it's not going to find it there) and reported a 404 back.
    Here's a snippet of the Apache httpd.conf file, hopefully you can see
    something fishy.
    ############################Begin .conf
    LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_ssl.so
    <Location /weblogic>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    # Of course, we tried toggling this value too, but no luck
    # PathTrim /weblogic
    </Location>
    <Files *.jsp>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    </Files>
    <IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
    WebLogicCluster [IP1]:7001,[IP2]:7001
    </IfModule>
    ##############################End of .conf
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Vu

    ok, we recompiled Apache, and now it works fine.

  • Session replication in Clustered Env with Apache proxy

    Hi,
    Setup:
    1. Apache proxy configured using mod_proxy
    2. Cluster is set up at weblogic with 2 nodes(on same machine)
    3. EAR is deployed on cluster with weblogic-application.xml as below
    <session-descriptor>
    <persistent-store-type>replicated_if_clustered</persistent-store-type>
    <sharing-enabled>true</sharing-enabled>
    </session-descriptor>
    use case:
    user1 hits the URL, Apache proxy forwards to node1
    user2 hits the URL, Apache proxy forwards to node2
    kill the node1 and user1 click on any link, he gets redirected to login page. No failover us happening.
    In Node 1 server logs am getting below exception
    ####<Dec 5, 2012 8:39:21 PM IST> <Error> <Cluster> <Win2k8SRV-01> <win2k8svr-ms1> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<anonymous>> <> <> <1354720161810> <BEA-000126> <All session objects should be serializable to replicate. Strange thing i noticed is if comment the persistent-store-type attribute in xml file then apache is able to load balance the request between the nodes else all request goes to Node1( from apache logs). Below logs are captured with persistent-store-type set to replicated_if_clustered. Here the JSESSIONID points to server1(port 7003 which is appended to JSESSIONID).

    Let me know if my set up wrong. Do i need to modify any settings related to cluster from console ?
    Regards,
    Sandeep

    Hi Mukesh,
    Thanks for the reply. TO check the session data i took the JSP from http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=290 for testing the serialization of session data, modified a little bit and added to all the WAR files to check session data of each WAR file. I could verify that all data in session are serializable.
    While trying the serialization test, i did change the persistence store type to "replicated" but no luck yet.
    But this time i got some replication missed message from server logs.

  • 10g webgate not protecting the IIS application but protecting base IIS page on the same Default website

    Hello Gurus,
    I have an 10g webgate installed on the IIS server application that I am trying to protect using OAM 11g which is running on a separate server. There is OHS as well running on a separate server which I have set as a proxy to the OAM access server.
    My problem is:
              Whenever I try to access the http://IIS-server-host/ url, the webgate intercepts the request and shows me the OAM SSO login page. Once I provide correct credentials, I can see the basic Windows IIS 7.5           welcome page.
              But whenever I try to access the protected application page http://IIS-server-host/abcd/** where abcd is the protected application, then the OAM SSO login page doesn't show up and the application directly           throws an error. When I see in Fiddler trace the webgate does intercepts the request but then since I have OHS server setup as a proxy to the OAM server, the request stops at the OHS server URL.           http://ohs-server:ohs-port/.
              The /abcd application is hosted on the "Default Web Site" iitself. I can see in the IIS manager that, there is a separate sub-branch just below default website /abcd.
    What could cause this issue? and how should I resolve it? Please advise to the earliest as this is holding up my other activities!!
    Thanks.

    if request stops at OHS server url then issue must be at OHS level   ideally you should see two urls in Fiddler trace before login page is loaded one is /oam/server/obrareq.cgi and then /loginPage .. you see these URL in Fiddler trace ? anything you can gather from IIS / OHS / OAM Server logs ?
    whats error application is throwing ? is it Webgate error (Oracle Access Manager Operation Error) ?

  • Firefox will not load https (and other websites)

    Hello everyone.
    I'm running Firefox 18.0 on Windows 7 (64bit). Out of the blue, it started not loading certain webistes. It just spits out blank pages, or does not react when clicking login buttons. The web console will display a GET-message [for facebook: http/1.1. 302 Found 174ms], but hard reloads (CTRL+F5) do not help either.
    So far, I have encountered problems with :
    - Facebook (blank page)
    - Amazon (will not react upon "login")
    - GMX (will not react upon "login")
    - Mozilla.org (will not let me download Firefox anew OR create a support account)
    - My university's library catalogue (will not react upon "login")
    - Any of my university's https://-pages
    - The Google search in the Firefox task bar.
    - EDIT: The e-mail confirmation link this board has send me will not load either.
    They will load in Internet Explorer, so here's what I did:
    - EVERYTHING from the "Firefox can't load websites, but other browsers can" page, including
    Removing and readding FF to my Firewall exceptions,
    changing proxy settings,
    Dis- and enabling IvP6 settings,
    DNS Prefetching,
    Clearing cookies, history, browser cache and network cache,
    full system scan
    - Deleting and Reinstalling Firefox
    - Dis- and enabled SPDY in about:config
    Please help. I'm at the end of my rope. Thanks.
    EDIT: The websites work if I start FF in safe mode. Hope this leads to something.

  • Apache proxy getting 502 errors talking to portal

    We went live with our SAP project approximately 4 weeks ago.   We use Apache 2.2 as a reverse proxy with mod_balancer splitting traffic between two SAP portal systems at version 7.0 ehp 1 service pack 7.
    In the first 10 days we had two incidents where  communication from the Apache reverse proxy to one SAP portal system was consistently failing with a 502 return code, but communication with the other portal system was fine.  We do not see anything abnormal in the SAP logs.
    The first incident was resolved by restarting just the Apache server while the second required restarting the SAP portal application on the affected system as well.
    We are currently examining some leads found on the SAP forum and support site but are looking for input from others to help guide our investigation.  The SAP Note 929082 describes a sporadic problem similar to ours except that ours was consistently failing for over 30 minutes.

    Pinac,
    Thank you for your reply.
    We have a moderate level of logging turned on in the Apache server, so we can see that connections are being evenly distributed between the two portal nodes.  To clarify the original statement, we consistently get the problem on connections that are using the portal node with which communications have gone bad, while connections to the other node continue to work properly.
    We are reluctant to try the solution suggested in the note, because the KeepAlive value in the Apache proxy relates to communications between the proxy and the client browser, while the communication problem we are having is between the proxy and the portal nodes.
    One option we are looking into involves disabling all connection caching between Apache and SAP by setting the DisableReuse flag.   None of the examples we have seen have involved doing that but most examples appear to be using Apache 1.3 or 2.0 and so probably are not caching connections.  Has anyone needed to do this with their Apache 2.2 reverse proxies?
    The problem occurred again for us last Friday.  We tested by connecting to the portal directly using a browser from the system on which the Apache proxy runs.  Connections to the affected portal node on the SSL port were problematic, while connections to the non-SSL port worked.  The same tests performed from a desktop on the portal's subnet yielded the same results.

  • Where to place 2nd and 3rd website's home directories?

    In Os X Server 10.4.6, when we activated our first website (the default) it's home directory is /library/webserver/documents
    When adding a 2nd and third website to host, should their home directories be children of, or siblings of the original Documents directory?
    And when I create them, what's the best way to create them to ensure the permissions are correct?
    And for that matetr, what should the permissions be if I'm not using Webdav, and using FTP or SFTP to allow webmasters to update the sites?
    I want to be sure the new websites inerit the same features (like running php, weblogs, webmail as the original website.
    Thanks!

    >When adding a 2nd and third website to host, should their home directories be children of, or siblings of the original Documents directory?
    There's nothing special about a web site directory (other than permissions). /Library/WebServer/Documents is just Apple's default suggestion.
    However, if you store the other domains in subdirectories of /Library/WebServer/Documents then they'll be accessible under the first domain, which probably isn't what you want.
    For example, if you create your second domain in /Library/WebServer/Documents/www.domain2/ then it'll be accessible as http://www.yourdomain.com/www.domain2/
    Therefore if you're going to use /Library/WebServer, create siblings, not children of Documents.
    >And when I create them, what's the best way to create them to ensure the permissions are correct?
    Web content needs to be readable by the 'www' user, and directories need to be executable. This means you can either save your content as owned by 'www' or, more commonly, make sure it's world-readable, that way other users can create and edit the content while apache can still serve it.
    >And for that matetr, what should the permissions be if I'm not using Webdav, and using FTP or SFTP to allow webmasters to update the sites?
    The user in question would need write access to the content in order to change it, whether locally or remotely. As mentioned above this could be that the content is owned by the user, but world readable, and that's probably the commonest setup.

  • Replace/Update default website on OS X Server (Yosemite)

    I am certain this comes down to a fundamental lack of understanding on my part, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to replace the default website on OS X Server.
    I have read that it is not designed to be replaced, so I have created a new entry in the website list... but with no luck. I followed the instructions here: Setting up a local web server on OS X but still continue to get 403 errors.
    Can anyone point me in the direction of a set of instructions for setting this up? I really (at this stage) only want it to serve locally, not over the internet - which I thought would make it simpler...
    Thanks!

    There's a bit of guesswork on my part here because I have not used OS X Server.
    Obviously you've found httpd.conf.
    The root directory of the standard web server is defined in there - on OS X it is:
    DocumentRoot "/Library/WebServer/Documents"
    <Directory "/Library/WebServer/Documents">
    Require all granted        <-------------- means anyone can access it from any domain ----------------->
    </Directory>
    The instructions to which you are referring I guess are the ones about allowing users to set up their own sites, needing the relevant modules to be activated in that file:
    #LoadModule userdir_module libexec/apache2/mod_userdir.so
    to
    LoadModule userdir_module libexec/apache2/mod_userdir.so
    #Include /private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-userdir.conf
    to
    Include /private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-userdir.conf
    ...then in http-userdir.conf....
    #Include /private/etc/apache2/users/*.conf
    to
    Include /private/etc/apache2/users/*.conf
    At this point I am assuming that Apache doesn't really care that this is a user-related issue and so any file ending in .conf in that directory will be included in the Apache Server config (once stopped and started). However, the fact the the site name is then ~shortname suggests the user model is important and access permissions may mean you need to be logged in as that user for all I know.
    ....in the shortname.conf file in that /private/etc/apache2/users/ directory would be something like this:
    <Directory "/Users/shortname/Sites/">
        AddLanguage en .en
        LanguagePriority en fr de
        ForceLanguagePriority Fallback
        Options Indexes MultiViews
        AllowOverride None
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from localhost
         Require all granted
    </Directory>
    The relevant directory is /Users/shortname/Sites/ ---- I suggest putting a simple index.html page there to test first.
    ....then http://localhost/~shortname
    .....should work.
    Remove the line Allow from localhost and access from elsewhere should also be possible.
    I wish I could be more help - but without a server to use and check what I am saying I think that is about all I can offer, and I suspect none of this is new to you.

  • How to set default website for exchange 2010

    I'm unable to launch the Exchange Management Console, and then I read that it's necessary to set the default web site in a particular way, in order for Exchange 2010 Management Console to work:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/exchange2010/thread/4d396628-3867-4c95-9541-e0eb021e0135
    However, after setting up Sharepoint, I see that it has modified the default website, and I'd like to ask for specific settings on how the default web site bindings should look (for exchange). Could someone please advise what I need to do to correct it?
    I'm having trouble interpreting what Mike Crowley recommends in the linked post above, in terms of actual steps to the site binding information (which won't mess up what exists).
    Currently it says:
    Type           port         ip address        binding information
    net.tcp
    808:*
    net.pipe
    net.msmq                                         localhost
    msmq.formatname                            localhost
    http            80             127.0.0.1
    https          443            *
    http           80              *
    https          443            127.0.0.1
    It seems the line for http on port 80 is *, which I guess is equivalent to 'all unassigned'. Is the previous http port 80 binding to 127.0.0.1 causing the problem?
    But I'm also supposed to set a Powershell VDir in IIS. Can someone provide steps for that?

    Regarding SharePoint on Exchange:
    It was not allowed earlier, as documented here:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-portal-server-it/coexistence-and-interoperability-guide-for-sharepoint-products-and-technologies-HA001160777.aspx & here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825505 but there doesn't seem to be anything more recent than this.  I would work under the assumption it is not supported outside of
    SBS 2011 (which I am not very familiar
    with).

  • Deploying Crystal Reports 2008 on a website other than the default website

    Hi,
    We have an ASP.NET 2003 web application using CR 2008 as reporting tool.
    To deploy the application, we are using the CR 2008 mergemodules.
    If the application is installed into the default website, this works fine, but if another website is selected, the mergemodule still installs CR 2008 to the default website.
    To overcome this problem, the crystalreportviewers12 virtual directory has to be created in the selected website.
    But if the application is installed directly into the website, and not into a virtual directory of the website, problems occur, like images not showing up.
    I would like to know if there exists documentation regarding deployment into websites, other than the default website and what configurations have to be done to make it work.
    Best regards,
    Ângelo Vilela

    Your System Details are showing Fun Web Products. Suggest you look in Add-ons - Extensions and Plug-ins, and Control Panel>Add/Remove programs or >(newer version) Programs and Features. You could also do a search of your computer.
    Fun Web Products(associated with MyWebSearch) always seems to cause problems, Alexa does, too, but less often - there may be conflicts.
    I'm not an expert on these two products. I'm afraid I can only alert you to the problems. Google will show you plenty of evidence of problems. You might also try the Search Firefox Help box above - a gold mine but it usually requires a lot of digging.
    You can start Firefox in Safe Mode - Hold Shift Key down as you double click on the Firefox icon>ignore the page that opens>Continue. If that improves things you could do a little troubleshooting(Safe Mode, Problematic extensions etc), use default theme, -

  • ABAP Proxy Set up and Load balancing

    Hi All,
    We have a SAP ECC 5.0 PRD server in our landscape. I need to set up ABAP Proxy in the server.
    They have implemented Load balancing in the ECC 5.0 PRD server. They have two servers (One Central Server and another APP Server) and one of the servers will be used at any point in time based on load conditions.
    Now where exactly i have to perform the ABAP Proxy set up and how does it work at runtime.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey,
        refer to this.
    R3 side
    SLDCHECK
      Use this transaction to access the SLD of XI.
    SLDAPICUST
      Create an entry for respective XI server
      requires hostname, port username and ip.
      Can have multiple enteries for different servers.
      But you can check only one entry.
      based on the entry that is checked, respective SLD API will be triggered from
      SLDCHECK.
    SM59 (T type connections).
      To connect to the SLD you need 2 types of TCP/IP connections.
      1)LCRSAPRFC:-
          In this you require the gateway host(ip address) and gatewayservice(sapgw[system no.])
          YOu also need to give Program ID.
          Entry of corresponding Program ID must be maintained in SMGW.
          IN SMGW Click GoTo->logged on Clients.
          If entry is not there for corresponding XI.
          Create a communication channel in XI, pointing to R3 and give a Program ID
          in the channel. Once the channel is activated, corresponding Program ID wil
          appear in SMGW.
      2)SAPSLDAPI:-
         In this case follow the same porcedure as for LCRSAPRFC.
       As far as the Program ID is concerned te procedure mentioned above is for
       Customized RFC's
       The RFC destinations mentioned here are both standard RFC's
       Hence for these two RFC's no need to Create Program ID's. you just need to
       change the System ID of the Program ID.
       Both these RFC's are maintained in the J2ee server of XI.
    SPROXY.
       In this transcation you can check the Proxies.
       If the proxies are not activated (i.e. if the message interfaces are not active)
       this step is optional
       then you need to maintain one G type RFC destination pointing the resepctive XI server.
       In the G tpye RFC destination give the Ip adress of the XI server in the target
       host and set the path prefix as /rep.
       Goto SPROXY->Goto->connection test-> click on the table SPROXSET.
       In this table maintain enteries for ADDRESS_ONLY_FROM_SPROXSET and IFR_HTTP_DEST
       The values corresponding to these enteries will be the G tpye RFC destination.
    In order to connect R3 to the Integaration server you need to maintain H type
    The default RFC is XI_INTEGRATIONSERVER. In you need to give the Target host entry as the
    Ip address and Path Prefic as.../sap/XI/engine/?type=entry (this you can get from SXMB_ADM of XI)
    You can also create the H type RFc of your own.
    goto SXMB_ADM(r3) and open Integration engine configuration.
    regards,
        Milan

  • How to retrieve client certificate passed by Apache proxy

    Hi all,
    Here's my configuration:
    Client <--HTTPS-->Apache Proxy (2-way SSL) <-- HTTP --> WLS 8.1
    I need to be able to access the client certificate passed to Apache by the client in my Java applications hosted on WLS.
    Here's what I did:-
    <pre>1. Set up Apache 2-way SSL. Tested ok.
    2. Set up Apache-Weblogic proxy. Tested ok for both HTTP, and server-side HTTPS.
    3. Configured Apache's ssl.conf SSLOption to export certifiate data: SSLOptions +ExportCertData.
    4. In my application, I used request.getAttribute("javax.servlet.request.X509Certificate") to try and retrieve the certificate.</pre>
    However the certificate don't seem to be passed along to Weblogic :-(
    Any ideas if I'm missing any steps from above? Or if it's even possible to do this?
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Any ideas

    The WL-Client-Proxy cert should be the cert used on the proxy side if SSL is configured between Apache and WebLogic, so I believe that is the reason why that does not work. Basically, the problem here is that SSL is end-to-end, and the two ends of this transaction are the client and apache.
    That said, when you add the +ExportCertData option, this should record the client's SSL certificate in the vairable SSL_CLIENT_CERT.  So you should be able to use request.getAttribute("SSL_CLIENT_CERT").
    See:
    http://www.modssl.org/docs/2.8/ssl_reference.html
    If this doesn't work for you (which is possible if the WL_Proxy is doing something funny to the request), it is probably best just to dump out the entire contents of the session, and see what you have:
    for (Enumeration e = request.getAttributeNames() ; e.hasMoreElements() ; ) {
    String attr = (String)e.nextElement();
    System.out.println("ATTR = " + attr);
    System.out.println("VAL = " + request.getAttribute(attr));
    If you can't see any SSL certificate there, you will have to work out some way to pass this on manually.
    cheers,
    Trevor
