Aperture 3.6 and Aperture Photo Library

When Aperture 3.5.1 is upgraded to Aperture 3.6, will Aperture 3.6 cause the Aperture Photo Library to undergo an upgrade? If so, is that upgraded library compatible with the Mavericks version of Aperture?
I'm curious, since I will have a Mac running Mavericks and Aperture 3.5.1 (accessing the Aperture 3.6 library)...

Need to backup and remove photo library form my iphone. This library was previously backup on a hard drive that crashed. So these photos are only in the photo library and not in the camera roll. If I do a full backup, it only takes the camera roll.

Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer. As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you. I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.

ICloud error message on iPhone saying I don't have enough space to store photos when in fact I have 1.5gb free and my photo library on my phone only has 22 photos. What's happening here and how to I fix this?

Photostream and iCloud Photo Library Mutually Exclusive??

I turned on the iCloud Photo Library on Monday after upgrading my devices to iOS 8.1. I recently noticed that the Photostream portion of the Photos app disappeared, and I can no longer see any of my wife's photos in my library (she is not using iCloud Photo Library).
My take away is that if you enable iCloud Photo Library, then Photostream is disabled (or doesn't function the same). Is this true? In the iCloud and Photos settings page, there is sitll an option to enable Photostream, but my iPhone is no longer pulling those photos off of the Photostream.
This seems like a poor strategy for mechanization since the iCloud Photo Library is not fully supported within OS X, but Photostream is. Why not keep both for the time being, especially since Photostream does not go against your iCloud quota, but the iCloud Photo Library does.
Apple should at least let you use both until iCloud Photo Library is fully supported within OS X.
Can anyone confirm my suspicions or provide more information? I maybe forced to disable iCloud Photo Library just so my wife and I can share pictures...

Yes, your Photostream album goes away. The idea here is that Photostream and "iCloud Photo Library" are covering the same particular area (which is in common with each other) and that area is the "photo sharing" part.
Now, in regards to why can't Apple include them both when you choose to activate the "iCloud Photo Library" ... is simply that you choose to be a "beta tester" in "iCloud Photo Library" ... so you get what you choose in that regard. No one is required to be a "beta tester" and they shouldn't be, if they are not suited to doint that sort of thing. But, you decided you wanted to be a "beta tester" ... so that's what a beta tester gets ... they get to "test out the system" and report any problems and bugs to Apple so that Apple can bring the "beta program" to "final status" and release it to the general public.

Missing movie files in my project since iOS 8 and iCloud Photo Library

Hello all,
I've been to New York at the start of 2014 and created an awesome movie project in iMovie for iOS. That was when iOS 7.1.2 was the most current release. Today, I wanted to finish up my project. I'm currently running iMovie 2.1.1 on iPad air 1 running iOS 8.1.2 and iCloud Photo Library is enabled since day one. I Opened the project today and iMovie told me there are missing movies in the project and offered me to search for them. It only found 2 out of 140 or something. Now my project timeline is filled with clip with exclamation marks and many transitions with pictures in them are missing too. I tried to download clips that are in iCloud by tapping the Cloud icon but iMovie still cannot find them. Ive also tried importing from iCloud drive, disabling iCloud photo library and syncing the movies from iPhoto using iTunes on my iMac but iMovie cannot link them to the project. I'd hate to see hours of editing work to go down the drain.

Ok, so sinc you turned iCloud photo library, that automatically delets all of your current photos. I found that out the hard way. I'm sorry to hear that your editing has gone to waste. It is still odd that some media was saved though.

Missing movies in project since iOS 8 and iCloud Photo Library

I've been to Europe this summer and created a movie in iMovie for iOS. That was when iOS 7.1.2 was the most current release. Today, I wanted to finish up my project. I'm currently running on iPad air, iOS 8.0.2, latest release of iMovie and iCloud Photo Library is enabled since day one. Opened the project and iMovie complained there was missing movies and offered me to search form them. It found 19 out of 40 or something. ***??? Now my movie timeline is filled with clip with exclamation mark and many transitions with pictures in them are missing too. I tryed to download clip that where in iCloud by tapping the Cloud icon but iMovie still cannot find them. How am I supposed to fix this now? My clips are there but iMovie cannot link to them... Your iPhoto Library is located in your /Home/Pictures/ folder and contains all the photos you have put into iPhoto. iCloud Photo Library is the library of photos you have stored in iCloud.

How can I sync my large aperture photo library between 2 macs?

I have read various solutions to this, but quite frankly cannot determine which is the best for my situation. I keep my master library on my iMac and use a Macbook when traveling. My objective is to be able to share the master library on my Macbook and when I return from my travels, upload a new master library for my iMac. My confusion relates to how A3 uses references for masters and I do not want to lose that logical link when switching back and forth. I am completely willing to take my A3 external drive backup and use it to upload to the Macbook and then reverse the process when I return. Will this work? I have over 20k photos so using Mobile Me or some "cloud" will be much too slow. Both Mac's use Lion. Thanks for your help. David

I could have sworn that I read about a work flow which would be what you need over on http://aperture.maccreate.com but cannot for the life of me find it now.

From what I remember of the workflow, it focused on leaving the masters behind on the iMac (larger drive) and setting the preview to maxium resolution so that you can view the photos while on the road.
It was something along the lines of:
Set your preview size to maxium
Make all photos referenced instead of managed.
Copy/move your now small library from iMac to laptop
shoot out in the field, import photos as managed.
Move the library back from laptop to iMac
make photos from the recent shoot referenced instead of managed.
If you do the copy/move thing then you have to plan ahead and move the library to the laptop before heading out. This is because Aperture won't let you merge two libraries if they're copies of the same library.
If instead you select a number of (or all) projects and select "export as project" you then have two different libraries - one for your laptop and one for your iMac. You can then merge the two libraries to get photos from one to the other.
Allen points out that merging libraries repeatedly isn't super stable. I don't know; I've never followed this process. This is just what I remember from http://aperture.maccreate.com
What I usually do is make a new library out in the field and just import that into my main library when I get back to to my iMac. Works for me. Of course, I can't show off my older photos, but that's what flickr is for.

Sharing photos from two iPhones and one photo library between two macs

Does anyone have a best practice about how to share one photo library within a family?
My wife and I each have iPhones (a 5s and a 6). She has an MacBook Pro. I have a MacBook Air. We would each like to have access to any picture taken on either of our phones on either computer. Is that possible? Does it require duplicating photo libraries on each computer?
We also have a DSLR. We would like to import picture from that camera into the same photo library.
I purchased an external hard drive which I have attached to my time capsule. I have created another photo library on that and I know how to select a specific library when opening iPhoto. But then I don't have access to photos when I travel, unless there is some way for me to access the external drive remotely.

The way to do it is to have one Library on an external disk formatted Mac OS X Extended, Journaled. But that disk must be directly connected to the computer, not by wireless.
Note that the upcoming Photos.app - due in 2015 and designed to replace iPhoto and Aperture - may offer other possibilities.

Like what version of iPhoto are you using? Have you recently installed any iPhoto (or iLife) updates or upgrades? Do you plan to use this iPhoto library with two or more different versions of iPhoto (no possible so stop now if you do)? Where is your iPhoto library?
Anything else that you can tell us that might let us give you a good answer to your question

Coverflow really slow and duplicated photo library after updating

Hi!, I've been having these 2 issues stated in the titled since I updated my iPhone 4 yesterday after many "3200" errors. When I could finally pass the "Unpacking process", and just before finishing the update, I got a weird error (if I remember correctly it was something like -2 or so). I didn't pay much attention to it because my phone booted normally.
After that I configured the iOS5 pre-settings, and for my surprise, any of my apps, videos or music weren't there. I connected my device again, resynced and hopefully, the restore option popped up, and it went smooth with no errors. The first thing I noted was that some of my albums were lacking the cover art. I connected again and found that in itunes, my songs displayed the cover art correctly, but in the iphone they didn't. I replaced the missing covers and when checked the cover-flow, it was really slow! it is not fluid and freezes my device. What could it be? I think it's something to do with the cache or something...
And the other issue is more simple: after restoring, I got an extra folder called "Pictures" which contains the exact same pictures I sync from my computer (they are normally in the "Photo Library") How can I sort out my pictures?

I also noticed a bug on Iphone 4 ios 5.0.1. In Ipod application when viewed in landscape position so slow and then kicks me to the springboard(desktop). Sorry for my English, i'm Ukrainian. I hope this problem fix in next update. Thanks

No. That is the way the photo app is designed. Think of the photo library as your regular book library. You can see all the books there. The folder that you sync from the computer is like one room of the library where you see only that particular section of books, but they all still exist in the library. Some people like this setup because you can separate particular pictures so you can show people only that particular folder, instead of the entire library. Or, you can show them the entire library. Please forgive my ignorance as I am new to the Mac world. While attempting to create a slide show in iMovie, I click the camera icon to add a photo and only the iPhoto and photobooth libraries populate. I can't seem to find where I can import my Aperture library. Any advice?

Your Aperture library should populate automatically. Mine always has.
However, since it is not working for you, there is a preferences file (plist) that controls all this. I would suggest that you move the com.Apple.iApps.plist preferences file to the trash according to the instructions here.

There is probably no need to move the com.Apple.iMovieapp.plist file to the trash, but it coudn't hurt.

Aperture photo Library

When i add new photos to the pictures folder aperture doesn't automatically pick these up and import them. Is there a way you can get Aperture to import photos as and when they are added to you photos folder. I would like it to import in the same way that itunes does. You know like when you add a new album you just put it in the "automatically add to itunes folder" and it gets imported into your itunes library.
I had this exact same problem in iphoto when i first got my mac. I have looked long and hard for some time on these forums and cant find anything.
Anyway if anyone knows the answer or can send me a link to the original answer if there is one that would be much appreciated
