Apex 3.1.0 Install hangs after wwv_meta_cleanup
Hi there. This is my first time posting and if I have done it wrong, please let me know. :)
I am installing Apex 3.1.0 onto a linux box and everything has been going just fine until it just stoped. We got to wwv_meta_cleanup and it says no errors, and it just sitting there. No errors are comming up or anything.
Does anyone know why it could be hanging there and what possable errors it could have please?
Thank you.

Peter - I assume you mean 3.0.1.
Is this is a new installation or an upgrade? Do you have any prior versions of Application Express in that database? Were there any failed installation attempts?
What is the output from this query run as SYS:
select username from dba_users where username like 'FLOWS_%';

Acrobat Reader 9.2 will not install, hangs after 1st launch OSX
I have an imac, running OSX 10.5.8 Leopard.
I tried downloading and installing the Adobe Reader 9 software
under the Admin account, and wehn launched,
it shows the "Install/Fixing Installation" screen,
and after 20 mins does nothing, and I have to force quit.
I tried trashing the Adobe Reader9 folder, and redownloading
the installer again, and then try to install it again from
the installer. Again, same thing, won't install.
If I go back to the Adobe.com website and install the
Acrobat 8.1.3 software, it installs fine without a hitch.
So what is hanging in the Adobe 9 software that is causing an issue?
Someone told me that Acrobat 9 is tied to Adobe Air, is this the problem?I tried downloading Adobe Air seperate, installing it first, and then tried to install Acrobat reader.
No Go, it sits there with a BeachBall and a blank window for 20 minutes before I give up and force quit.
I then get the "Send to Apple" window to report the error.
Here is what the error log says:

Bootcamp install hangs after initial restart
Am using 10.9 and trying to make a Windows 7 bootcamp partition. In bootcamp, I had it make the Windows install USB (option one), skipped option 2 this time since every time i have it try to download the support software it fails, and did option 3 to partition the drive for Windows, giving me a bootcamp volume now. After the partitioning, it restarts, then just sits at the gray screen you get when the Mac starts up.
Any ideas what might be happening or how I can see what's going on?I honestly don't know but it can't do any harm having them there. You will need them anyway.
Several people have reported that the download fails for various reasons but they seem to get them eventually. Downloading through Bootcamp also ensures you get the correct drivers for your Mac. -

Fresh install of solaris 10 x86 hangs after 'Configuring devices'
Hi All,
I just received a new SuperMicro server with an LSI MegaRAID SAS 9261-8i controller. While trying to install Solaris 10 it hangs after "Configuring devices". I checked the LSI page and Solaris 10 is supported according to them. Any ideas how to proceed?
Fairly new to Solaris on x86 hardware.
The system has a Xeon X5690 processor in an Intel Workstation Board S5520SC motherboard. The motherboard documents claim that not disabling usb 2.0 can hang an install. I have disabled the usb 2.0 in the bios but the system still hangs. Booting it with the -kd and -kv options don't give much information.
Any help is appreciated. I might be returning these machines if I can't get this worked out.
Cheers,
Steve
Edited by: 967729 on Oct 25, 2012 3:51 PMSee if you can add the verbose option "-v" to the kernel boot options. I think you can get to the GRUB menu off the Solaris 10 install disk. That should tell you what device is causing the hang, or at least the last device that worked.
Also, can you try Solaris 11 and see if it gets past that point? A few years ago I has a similar issue with Solaris 10 on a Dell server. Solaris 11/OpenSolaris worked fine, though. IIRC I could work around the issue if I disabled the 2nd CPU - Solaris 10 had a problem bringing up the 2nd CPU on that Dell's CPU/MB config. -
I use a mac with 10.8.3 installed. I use Cisco VPN & citrix receiver to connect to work via my home wireless which connects & works brilliantly but then hangs after 57 minutes and about 35 seconds. I disconnect but can't reconnect straight away although it goes through the motions but doesn't find a connection. I have to wait about 10 minutes (or restart the MAC) then it connects fine again and I have another 57 minutes. I previously used 10.6 for a while without any problems and then the VPN just stopped connecting? after trying to resolve without success I upgraded the OS hoping that this might fix the issue which it has but created this other problem! I can live with it but thought there may be some way to correct this surely. I'm not heavily technically minded and have read reports about the racoon service may be causing this but not sure how you do this very simply step by step

IPod won't work after trying to install IOS4; install "hangs"
Hello,
My son has an iPod touch. It's a month old and bought new, so it would be the latest version. We also have the latest version of iTunes running on Vista.
The issue . . .
Son was prompted by iTunes to download IOS4. He did this, but when he tried to install it on the iPod, it froze the iPod and iTunes.
We have tried several times to do the install, and on two different computers, but the same thing happens - the install "hangs" at about one-third of the way into the installation.
We also cannot use the iPod at all, because when we switch it on, there's an icon that tells us to connect it to iTunes. And when we do this, we can the hanging issue described above.
Son is distressed. He spent all his birthday money downloading apps for the new iPod, and is worried he may have lost the lot.
I can see from the discussions here that we are not the only ones having this proble. Is anyone closer to finding a solution?
Thanks.I fixed this by taking doing the restore/install on a Mac.
It's now working fine on the PC.
Of course, this only helps people who have access to a Mac! -
Satellite U400-22n and Win7 - screen hangs after 5 min
Hi, This is my first post
Ive purchased a new U400 with Vista preinstalled, last week ; 2 days ago Ive upgraded to windows 7 32bit professional when I stared Installing it windows prompted me that it requires a full installation , so I done a normal full install, windows 7 installed normally .
Now my screen hangs after 5 min and windows gos black and reboots after 3-5 min, Ive downloaded all the drivers from the Toshiba site Ive used the auto detect, and installed the drivers one by one and tested if the reboot stops , Ive reinstalled windows now 4-5 time returned my copy to the shop and got a new copy of the windows DVD, its the same,
Please has some one any advice for me. As the shop Ive perched this from will not upgrade to windows 7 for me.hi Mather,
any bluescreens visible?
win7 32bit i guess...
you have to install all the drivers for win7 provided by toshiba in the right order!
first chipset and patchfiles if available...
i think a clean install will do the job!
make sure that the hdd is error free!
you can upgrade from vista 32bit to win7 32bit
but no chance to upgrade to a win7 64bit when a vista 32bit is installed... -

New install hangs on boot when GDM or LXDM services are enabled
Greetings Arch users,
I've been trying out installing Arch on a USB drive in order to get familiar with the process and use it on my main machine in the future. I've been following the Beginners' Guide, and after a few hiccups, I managed to install what appears to be a fully-functional Arch system onto a 16 GB USB drive, albeit without a window manager or desktop environment.
When I tried that is where I ran into problems. I installed X, vesa driver, and GNOME and enabled gdm.service, and upon the next reboot the system hung after or in the middle of the fsck process, exactly as described in this thread.
rebooted, hangs after the fsck bit where it says something like /dev/sda4: clean, 112977/9296096 files, 185427/21217024 blocks
I just get the blinking cursor. I left it there long enough to take a nap and nothing else came up.
Examining the journalctl output, I see an error exactly like mentioned in this thread:
GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_object_ref: assertion 'object->refcount > 0' failed
GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_object_unref: assertion 'object->refcount > 0' failed
Chrooting into the system and disabling gdm.service allowed for normal boot.
Well, I thought, maybe there's an issue with GDM or GNOME. I'll try LXDE and LXDM instead. Unfortunately, that hung at the exact same point in the loading process. Looking at the journalctl, I saw an output exactly like what was described in this thread:
Lxdm.service main process exited code=exited status=1/FAILURE
lxdm.service entered failed state
I'm stumped. I've searched and haven't come up with anything. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be the cause? What additional information would be helpful in diagnosing the issue? Thank you for your help.

GDM then restarts immediately. Problem recurring each boot.
Can you check the logs (dmesg, journalctl, xorg) and see if there are any differences for the startup of GDM before and after a successful GDM start.
Technically from the lack of information you provided it's not possible to state if you actually have the same issue or not. It might be better for you to start your own separate thread.
If you start your separate thread please provide some more details so people don't need to start guessing.
I think I'll just RTM. -
Powerbook G4 hangs after few minutes of usage
Since February 06 I have a PB G4: 1.67GHZ, model Powerbook5,8
Since this weekend it hangs after a few minutes of usage.
I tried a whole load of possible solutions, like resetting the RAM, removing the battery and holding the powerbutton for 5 seconds...I even held it once for half a minute, but that didn't help. Checking the harddrive with disk utility (tried it often, but only once did the PB work long enough to get the end result: hard drive is healthy).
Often, when it hangs, I can get it to work by simply turning it off and on again. That gives me another window of 2 minutes of usage! Handy throughout the day when I need a file, or a document: I simply boot the machine, get the file and shut it down.
Carbon copy to an external HD does not work: the system hangs a few minutes after copying.
I installed a utility named applejack, and the first time I tried it, I got an interesting error: there were errors with the USB controller or USB bus, and system hangs. I didn't make a screenshot so this is out of the top of my head.
This was interesting because when I tried to make a HD copy (and believe me: I tried lots and lots of times), the system freezes first, and then an error about not unmounting a device popped into the screen. As if the touchpad, keyboards, and all other i/o devices stop working, and the system goes on for a few seconds more.
Sometimes the system just hangs, sometimes I get that black kernel panic screen.
Just before writing this, I tried the hardware test on the install CD once more:
Held down the option key, chose the hardware test -> quick test and..
system hangs after completion of the test
A message appeared in the bottom-left corner. Several lines of information, starting with:
"ERROR, Write to location ZERO detected!!, Loc zero was originally zero
Current File: Localization/en/Scripts/enAHTscript.sc"
etc
I live on a nice island in the Caribbean, so popping into the nearest Apple store means getting on a flight to Miami first.
What -if any- are my options? Is there something I can try to do myself before shipping it to Apple? Opening the case, checking this or that?
By the way, I originally posted this in the Titanium folder, but someone mentioned that I might actually have a Aluminum PB.
see http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2074854#2074854hi joeuu,
I have 1.5GB mem: one 512 stick and one 1GB and I already tried the sticks one at a time: it hangs with the original 512, it hangs with the 1GB and it hangs with them together in both possible slot settings.
I managed to copy the panic.log in /Library/Logs/ and here it is:

Now what can we read from this?
I see in here "AppleUSBTrackpad" and "AppleUSBOHCI".
Referring to my original post: I have seen an error (a few days ago, when working with applejack) that also mentioned USB.
I'm very afraid that this is a hardware issue. Reading through some other posts, I saw something about a ribbon that gave problems. What are your thoughts? -
Sneak Preview sp11 Slim Java install hangs on J2EE Startup
I looked around at the other instances of this type of error, but they seemed to be slightly different issues (or at least, at differenst steps). Tried what helped them anyway, though it didn't really help.
My install hangs at the Start J2EE Engine (step 21 of 24 normally). It seems to retry every 20 seconds, but never gets anywhere and eventually pops up an error. I've retried from there, stopped and restarted, wiped out the whole install and tried again. I've repeated this for several versions of Java, the latest being the 1.4.2_08 version. They all get to the same part and die.
This is the error right before it gets into full swing on the waiting/retrying.

SAPSTART finished successfully on ITLAP_J2E_00, but at least one process doesn't run correctly:
C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\exe\sapstart.exe=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.
My os is XP, and seems to meet the min system requirements for the slim version.
Any ideas on getting over this hump?
Edit: After talking with someone at the ICC, turns out pretty much that I shouldn't be trying to install the slim version. So, time to go find a machine that can handle the normal Java install.
Message was edited by: Cortney DenverLooking around at other experiences as well as my own several attempts (just tried an installation on XP several times this evening), none of this stuff works and SAP could not possibly care less. A clearly deeply flawed installation has been sitting around for 5 months now... one is left to wonder what highly specific conditions are required for success.
Good luck to you... I give up. -
MAX communication hangs after Standby Mode(with GPIB PCMCIA)
I have a IBM Laptop with MAX 2.2 and a GPIB PCMCIA Card installed. After booting the computer I can communicate with GPIB instruments without problems. After I get the Laptop out of a Standby Mode, MAX can not make any connection to GPIB devices; when I scan for Instruments it hangs as well.
The troubleshooting wizard tells me: one or more GPIB interfaces failed.
Does anyone have the same problems or solutions ?On the NI-488.2 2.0 download page it is mentioned that that driver does not support standby mode. No such mention is made on the download page for NI-488.2 version 1.7 (which I need to use for my PCMCIA-GPIB interface), although the 1.7 release shows very much the same problem: After stand-by, communication with the GPIB port is no longer possible.
The Visual Basic example tool for preventing stand-by may help those users who are familiar with VB, but it does not help me.
Frankly - what I'd like to see is an improved NI-488.2 version that does support stand-by. Does NI consider providing such an upgrade/patch? -
Lenovo T61 (Product 6458-W2R): explorer.exe hangs after logon - WinXP SP2
+++ english below +++
- HP-Computer (Desktops, Evo SFF Series)
- Fujitsu-Siemens-Computer (Desktops, ESPRIMO E Series)
- IBM ThinkPad T20/21
- IBM ThinkPad T40/T41/T42
- IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T60
Das Problem tritt nur auf den noch relativ neuen ThinkPad T61 auf.
Wir haben bereits einen ziemlich ähnlichen Fall unter…

[english]
Unfortunately, I’m not fluent in the english language.
We use a few ThinkPad T61’s in our company. Meanwhile, at some ThinkPad T61’s (only ThinkPad T61!) we have a strange problem. This problem appears since the last 1-2 months and it still does exist. This problem does not appear at the same time, it does appear successive. And it appears random. The last case is 1 day old. Meanwhile, 6 ThinkPad T61 are concerned.
All ThinkPad T61 are members of a domain (Windows Server 2003) and do execute a logon script. The logon script contains Batch commands, Kix32 (for mapping network drives and printers) and parts of the Matrix42 Empirum Management software (for software distribution and inventory scan). Group policies will apply. Patches and updates will install on every computer via Matrix42 Empirum automatically. All computers get a default/unattended installation via Matrix42 Empirum Management software (everywhere between an image and an unattended Windows installation). All computers have installed Windows XP with Service Pack 2. As a rule, special software isn’t installed, only Microsoft Office 2003, the actual Acrobat Reader and the actual default players: Windows Media Player, Quicktime Player, RealPlayer, VLC media player. Sometimes, there is installed the Nero 7 Standard or rather Platinum (Special Edition) yet. All IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad use IBM/Lenovo-Utilities „ThinkVantage“ additionally. The problem exists if the ThinkPad T61 is connected to a docking station and also if the ThinkPad T61 is disconnected from a docking station. On every computer exists a registry key which arranges it that the desktop only will be loaded after the logon script did run.
Now the detailed error description:
Sometimes the explorer.exe hangs after the cold start. i.e.: The desktop (with icons and task bar) appears complete. But the computer hangs if you try to click on the task bar or double click on any icons. The computer will only run if we kill the process ‘explorer.exe’ and if we restart the explorer.exe.
We use also other computers with the same installation and the same group policies where the problem does not exist, for example:
- HP-Computer (Desktops, Evo SFF Series)
- Fujitsu-Siemens-Computer (Desktops, ESPRIMO E Series)
- IBM ThinkPad T20/21
- IBM ThinkPad T40/T41/T42
- IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T60
Only the new ThinkPad T61’s have this problem.
We have found a similar case at…

Vielen Dank / Many thanks!I would run System Update and make sure I had all the updates available.
Another thing to try is:
1. Right-click on My Computer and click Properties
2. Click on the Advanced tab
3. Click on Settings under Performance
4. Click on Data Execution Prevention
5. Click on Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select, then check Windows Explorer
We had to do that to some machines here after a push from corporate of the new ScriptLogic. This solved the problem.
