APEX possible feature questions

I posted another question that was answered, but have 2 more. We're attempting to configure APEX so that students can access it and run SQL commands on their own tables.
I've got how to get each student their own workspace that they can configure without touching any of the other students workspace, however, I am continuing to play around and read about APEX features and I am wondering if there is any possibility that I can disable the GUI wizard part that allows users to create tables so they can only use SQL commands (I'm starting to doubt that this is possible)

Is there a way for the administrator of the database to view the work done by each user and view their SQL work?

You can create a single workspace and a single schema for each student. Then just revoke the CREATE TABLE priviledge from the database schema.
Is there a way for the administrator of the database to view the work done by each user and view their SQL work?No. Although the DBA can of cause see all the stuff (tables, views, objects) that is in the database.
Otherwise I agree with acadet. FIrst learn SQL. Then start to use fancy tools like SQL Developer and/or APEX.

Show more text on the featured question box

I made some featured questions for the Power BI site using Power BI Q&A but I can't get the box (small or large) to show the whole text. It is truncated before the where clause which is the important part to see when choosing which featured
question you would like to see! Is there a way to get it to display the whole text, or would I have to make my own way of displaying the options, then add the functionality by using the link instead?

I did find a way to put the "where clause" a little higher in the text.
Instead of:
Show community, total unique members, where community category is Technical
I phrased it this way:
Show Technical community category, community, total unique members
and the bold is what shows on the featured question tile on the main page.

Acrobat Pro Extended feature questions

Hi,
I am testing Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended to evaluate usability within the company I work for. During my testing, I have run across some questions about Pro Extended functionality. I would appreciate any information or suggestions you may have regarding these questions. Thanks in advance!
1. Adobe 3D Reviewer in Pro Extended experiences a run time error and exits when attempting to delete a part (subassembly) from the model tree using the "delete" menu option on the right mouse context menu of the model tree item. This occurs in both .u3d files and .pdf files. Is this a known issue, limitation or is there a fix for attempting to delete parts from a model? (perhaps a problem on my installation?)
2. I have used 3D comments on a 3D model and they are very useful since they are "anchored" to particular locations on the part/assembly being commented on. Can the comment text box itself be resized? Can the font size used for the 3D comment be resized? Once created, can 3D comments be edited in either Pro Extended or 3D Reviewer?
3. The model tree in 3D models is useful for viewing/hiding parts of a 3D model. Do the plus signs (+) used to traverse the model tree have an "Expand All" option or must every + sign be clicked to traverse subassemblies (these can be numerous!). This may not be a supported feature. Is there any plan for it?

Here are some answers that should help in your evaluation:
1) i believe you are still using a beta version. this bug has been fixed in the released version. you can find a trial version at the following location:

2) yes the 3D comment box can be resized by clicking in the upper left corner and dragging the mouse or moved to a different location by clicking in the lower right corner and dragging the mouse.
yes you can change the size/color of the 3D comment text by going to Edit>Preferences, clicking on Measuring (3D) and changing the settings: Measure Feedback Size, 3D Measuring Line Color
once created, you cannot edit the 3D comment text anymore.
3) there is no Expand All option in Acrobat/Reader.

Savable pdf form feature question

Please give me steps to make pdf form savable with adobe acrobat X. I see step for Adobe Acrobat Pro - Choose Advanced>Extend Features in Adobe Acrobat Reader, but I don't have Adobe Acrobat Pro

I think misread your question. To Reader-enable a document with Acrobat 10, select: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features

At ODTUG I'm doing the APEX vs ADF Shoot-out, together with Lucas Jellema.
The last presentation Lucas and I did last year in the Netherlands. We decided to change some things in the presentation. One of them is to include "the nicest app or features in both environments".
So, I thought to ask the community what they think I should show.
Currently the list I thought to chose of:
* Out of the box in APEX: from raw Data to Application and Interactive Reports
* "Web 2.0" extensions in APEX: for ex. ExtJS and Dhtmlx
* Integration with Webservices, Fusion and SOA
* Extending E-business suite with APEX
(although I don't have the Oracle Applications Suite running on my laptop, so it will be hard to show)
* Integration with SQL Developer
I've about 15 mins to show the coolest, nicest features or application around, build in APEX. So it's not necessary to show things in dept or explain how to do them.
What features do YOU think make APEX incredible? Feel free to send me some screenshots or even nicer real demo sites or an application export I can show.
I know a lot of the applications we build are "internal" only, but if you could make a subset of it to just show the cool feature, that's already fine. If you just want to share what you think would be cool to show, just add a comment ... there might be a chance I already did some testing with it.

I have a very nice anecdote about 1. APEX for Dummies!
In DG Tournament there was a problem, people couldn't login... but I didn't have an internet connection at that time and as people had to bet on the games it had to be fixed asap.
So I called my brother (as he was one of the only persons I could reach) and asked him to follow my instructions. In 5 minutes it was fixed! He's a teacher in sports, so NOT technical at all. He could do everything with his browser, no need to redeploy or have tools on his pc. I should blog about it, but then I'm not sure if the ADF guys read it, they will shoot at that ;-)
I don't want to stress 1 too much, as APEX is/was seen like that before and the marketing is also done like that by certain people, but as you also say in 2. APEX is very powerful. I see it as a fit for a lot of people; from business people who have not many technical skills to the guru developers.

Photoshop CS4 Extended trial (3D features question)

Does the trial version provide full 3d tool capabilities? Before downloading over 800 MB and using even more space for installation, it would be great to know! :P
(I am only intererested in upgrading from CS3 for the ability to paint 3d models).
I searched Adobe's site extensively to see if the trial has "full" features or limitations, but it mentions neither.

No idea. I can only speak for the full Master Collection and there it works when installed as a trial. I would assume that the standalone PS trial supports all the features, otherwise it wouldn't be PS Extended. Even more so, as the 3D part is Adobe's own concoction that does not involve third-party licensing rights which could possibly prevent them from having this in the trial...

The packaged applications have been removed because they are no longer supported by Oracle.

Ix4-300D Issues on Sleep and Fan Speed - Possible Feature Request

Hi,
Can I find out why when the drives go to sleep, why cant the display panel turn off and the fan slow down?
My NAS is only used at a certain time of day, which I can use the power off/power on schedule, but there are times during the week when I want to access it. So, I can use the power switch to turn it on but then it stays on until the next scheduled off time. Cant Wake-On_Lan be programmed to wake up the unit in the Power Off state (If it should, then mine is not working).
It would be good to have a sleep mode like a "normal PC" where sleep is where everything is turnd off on the Nas except the ability to Wake On Lan.
Failing that, at least an option to turn off the display an leave it off. I dont need to see the front panel and the information it displays.
Also, my fan runs at a constant 1660 RPM and never varies, even when the drives are ON or OFF. It is pumping out cold air, so the unit is not warm and is obviously noisy for no reason at all. I have migrated from and ix2 and the fan ran average 800rpm, even when the drives were heavily utilised.
Why is the fan running so fast when not needed to? Is this another bug in the firmware?
I am running the latest firmware.

Yes, the drives enter sleep mode, but to me, the display should turn off, or there should be a way of turning the display off. I dont need the display on 99.9% of the time. Also, the fan is a 92mm fan with ample cooling power even when the drives are constantly being hit hard, so I dont see why it needs to run at ~1600 rpm when the drives are asleep. Even when the drives are hit hard, it still runs ~1600, never vaires. The system it self is cold (Cpu heatsink, etc) so that led to the question on whether it was actually working 100% (as in varying speed) or is it just fixed at a noisy 1600 rpm for no need.
I worked out on using the magic packet to wake the unit up from OFF mode, which is fine (but annoying as it means some command/software has to initate the wake up)
However, the system should re-shut itself down, if it is still in the Power OFF/ON Time schedule and no activity has occurred. Now, that would be a great feature.
These are very simple additions/features to put into the firmware. Other makes have/do it. They all run some form of Linux. Hopefully, someone listens and the features get added.

Possible Feature Request

Right now, it seems that it is only possible to add selected
tags from a premade list of tags to your favorites toolbar.
I was wondering if it may be possible, in future versions, to
have more flexibility to that.
Like Firefox will allow you to create your own toolbar and
you can add whatever tags or items are available for the entire
application.
Say I wanted a toolbar called whatever and I wanted a tag
like "span" (which isn't currently available), certain other
special characters that aren't available and I also wanted to add
menu items that I use a lot to my new toolbar called whatever,
like, "save", "select all", "undo", "redo", "apply source
formatting" ... the problem is, currently I cannot create a toolbar
with just the items I want, but it would make things so much more
convenient.
It would also be nice to be able to add to your toolbar items
that are recognized by the application but are not added to the
current toolbars available. Like some of these characters,

Another thing that would be beneficial, I would think, is a
highlighting feature for the code view. Just a little something to
be able to highlight selected text for easier viewing when you want

Feature Question - Audit Logging

Hello forum. Sorry if this is the wrong thread for this topic, but I was wondering if audit logging is a Standard Edition feature or if it's Enterprise only.
I can't find anything specifically saying that it is or isn't, and it's not enabled on my database so other than trying to enabling it and getting an error message (or not) I can't find an answer.
Sorry if this is a noob question, but I couldn't find anything about whether RMAN backup encryption was a Standard or Enterprise feature either, and it bit me in the ass when I found out it was Enterprise only.

My apologies if you think I wasn't thorough enough in my own research before asking the question. I did do my own research using oracle's docs and google, and my final resource was the 10g Oracle Database Security Guide, which mentioned nothing about which versions supported which features.
I did post my original question yesterday morning and received no response. As you said, this is a volunteer forum, and I'm grateful for the assistance, but as sad as you think it is that I asked for an answer within a time frame, I was left with no choice. The question was posed to me yesterday morning and I needed to return an answer this afternoon.

CPI2.x - LMS feature question

When and with which CPI version could we count with this features:
1. AD/LDAP-User Integration (was in LMS)
2. extending ISE integration limit of currently only 1 pair
3. shadow config files (was in LMS)
4. edit Management IP (was in LMS)
5. can set Devicestatus UnManaged / Managed (was in LMS)
6. Threshold configuration in all Monitoring templates (custom SNMP, Interface Health ...) (was in LMS)
or will this be dropped generally?

I know this matrix already. But the level of the document is to generic, to can answer the questions. Q3-6 are functionalities at very basic level and essential to can operate a network. That were basic features in LMS and even so basic features at competition NMS's from different vendors. Its not understandable to me, why it was forgotten to migrate this LMS basic functions to CPI in the perspective of product management.
I gave you the 5 points, because I appreciate your afort to keep the community with many answer to a lot of persons alive and let keep the community participating on the TAC-Knowledge arround Prime NMS products. It was just an answer, but not a helping answer:) But doesnt mater - I lost a lot of expectations regarding CPI's real ability of Cisco unified management. v2.0 is still just only a WCS upgrade.

PDF Search Feature Question

I'm trying to set up a type of PDF search that will allow me to scan an entire document for a list of pre-determined keywords and phrases (approximately 50 - 100) and then give me a report on the results. I'm familair with the pdf search that is included in the Acrobat software but I'm not sure if it has the capabilities I'm looking for? Does Acrobat have another feature I could use or do you know another software that can accomplish this?

RV320 feature question

I'm looking to purchase a RV320 but there are two questions I have before I pull the trigger.
1. Does the DHCP server support a /23? I have a guest network that will have upwards of 400+ clients on it.
2. Will this unit allow for me to route traffic for a single PC over 1 WAN port and if that port fails roll that single PC to WAN port 2, with a highest priority guaranteed rate? Also the rest of the traffic would only pass through WAN port 2 with a rate limit on those subnets/clients?
example
PC 1 10.0.0.2 over WAN 1 if fails WAN 2 QOS 5 Mbps/ 5 Mbps priority High
PCs 10.0.0.3-254 WAN 2 only shared Limit of 50 Mbps/ 10 Mbps priority Medium
Guest 10.1.1.1/23 WAN 2 only shared Limit 100 Mbps/ 10 Mbps priority Low

1. The RV routers may be too small for 400+ guest clients. Do you already have additional/existing switches and access points to support these clients?
2. It is possible to meet that requirement though Protocol binding. Have you also considered using the USB WAN port as the stand by back up for this particular PC?

i am working on an intranet.
My application is running on the server.
1)How is it possible to use it on the clients??
2)so can the numeric values in the URL like::

be replaced by something meaningful as a word or a phrase
3)Can the links shown at the bottom of the page be removed??How??
4)How can the page be made printer friendly??

1) Just point your client at your server. Replace 127.0.0.1 with the ip address of your server.
2) Yes it can. You would use an apache redirect. You would only redirect the following:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=119:2 .
3) Links at bottom of page are only shown for users with developer/admin privileges. Other users won't see them.
4) There is a printer friendly template included.
