API for Portlet Identity information?

I've been trying to come up with a way to uniquely identify a portlet in a particular region of the page; assuming that many instances of the same portlet are stacked together in the same region, (differing only perhaps by parameter values).
Ideally, each portlet ( say a dynamic page ) could ask "what is my ID", and "where am I located" --- A portlet centric viewpoint on the world as it were...
Can a portlet know who it is, where it is located, and what it's properties are? Or is this strictly the realm/responsibility of the rendering page containing that portlet?
Can a Portlet hide itself if based on a parameter value for example? Is there an available API?

I got my problem solved by using one of the createWebflowURL APIs in WebflowJSPHelper
class that was suggested by the BEA support. I guess you can give it a shot by
passing in "bea.portal.framework.internal.portlet.unedit" to the event parameter.

I'm trying to prepare a report in order to show the column mappings over multiple mapping operators usin the view API. Each operator has its particular problems when crossing from out to in, but most of them can be solved using the view API except of the following:
The Pivot/Unpivot expressions seem not to be documented. ALL_IV_XFORM_MAP_PARAMETERS.transformation_expression is empty for the out parameters (probably due to the 1:n cardinality with the row locator). But where else to look up? I'm unable to cross the bridge from outgroup to ingroup.
With Join operator there is the problem that the transformation expression doesn't contain the ingroup qualification, so, the true source cannot be identified uniquely when the attribute name is repeated in several ingroups.
Both informations must be buried somewhere in the repository. I would be satisfied the receive an "undocumented" solution if it is a real deficit in the view API. Maybe some privileged person could post an enhencement request.

Is there an API for getting diagnostic information about the server (memory usage, etc.). We'd like to write a program to monitor the server.

Retriving Portlet preference information using a custom tag

Hi ,
I am trying to create a custom tag which will be used to retrieve portlet prefrence information (administrative pref, community pref, user pref etc.).
In the displayTag method i am not able to create the Portlet request object.
I am getting the IEnvironment reference by calling the method GetEnvironment().
IEnvironment has methods called currentHTTPRequest() and currentHTTPResponse() which returns IXPRequest and IXPResponse object,
But to create a portlet context I need HTTPRequest and HTTPresponse.
If some one is aware of any other method for creating the portlet context from IXPRequest and IXPResponse object. please share as it will be of great help.

But I did not find any way in native APIs to retrieve the preferences.

I'm studying Serial Communication in university.
I'd like to know the reason why we can't downlaod Java Communication API for Windows.
I confirmed Comm for Linux and Soralis, but I can't find Comm for Win.
Please tell me the reason if someone know.

For no particular reason Sun stopped supporting the windows version
of that package. I use rxtx which happens to allow for much faster
communication too.
The interface is identical to Sun's version, just the package differs: "gnu.io".

ABAP API for KM ??

Hi guys,
I have seen a couple threads in this forum regarding the ABAP API for KM but nothing concrete as yet. Also alot of the links seem to be non existent now ;-(
If I go onto our SAP system and go to SE24 I can see a good couple classed related to KM by typing something like CL_KMC*.....
But what is the recommended approach to take? In my scenario I have an ABAP Webdynpro and I need to both UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD files to KM......
Should I generate a web service proxy in ABAP that consumes the standard KM web services? Do these web services even allow me to upload and download file to and from the KM area? I believe there is a KM Proxy layer in ABAP ?
Has anyone got some more information on this???

I think I will just do the work in Java Webdynpro and use the KM API. It is a pity because I would much rather do it in ABAP Webdynpro, it just seems like nobody has really done it or documented it well...

To answer your question specifically
Using ABAP api you cannot call MDM workflows as of mdm 5.5 there are no functions specific to calling MDM workflows in ABAP.If you want to implement workflows on ABAP side you need to go for SAP ECC workflows which is a different topic than MDM>
To call MDM workflows over the Java stack ie WAS (SAP portal),You have 2 ways
- UWL
- Guided Procedures.
- UWL is a way of calling MDM workflows on EP.Wherein the workflow design will be done in MDM and it will only be called in portal using appropiate connections and configurations.

You will need to choose one as the "master", back that unit up to iTunes, then restore the other unit from that backup and then sync all the same content and apps. That's the only way they'd have identical data. If you need to keep then synched on an ongoing basis, you'll probably need to use some sort of cloud-based service such as iCloud or Dropbox to hold the data, which of course will require that your apps support that service for storage of documents.

Today, when I tried to open web sites in Firefox from my Bookmarks, I could not. I continually received the following error message: This web site does not supply identity information.
I noticed that when I put the cursor on the box to the left of the address, that message appears. There is also '''no''' https:// before the address.
Can anyone help correct this problem? I believe sometime last week I may have fiddled with the Secutity settings in the Tools/Security option box and may have screwed up something trying not to have sites use cookies to track me?

You can set the pref browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false on the about:config page to see the http: protocol.
You can set the pref browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled to false on the about:config page to disable the highlighting of the domain and see the full URL more clearly.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Welcome to my inaugural post. I am a complete noob to Solaris (although I have been using Linux for 5+ years) and am in the process of trying to get a handle on what local C/C++ APIs (if any) are available for management. Specifically, I am looking to find out about process and package management.
For process management, basically I would like to know is there some kind of interface to the the prstat application (ie. Memory and CPU utilization). Does something like this exist?
For package management, I am looking for the ability to add, remove, and query the package �database�. Correct me if I am wrong, but the Solaris package �database� seems similar to that of a Debian system (at least from the perspective that the informational files are stored as plain text in a well-defined directory [ie /var/sadm/pkg/]).

Does something like this exist?Not prstat (although you could 'truss' it and see some of what it's doing to collect the information). kstat is available with a C interface and through perl/shell. It has several CPU fields. It's certainly useful for monitoring, but read-only. I'm not sure what you're looking for in terms of "management".
Also 'dtrace' can provide tons of dynamic information, but that's not necessarily what you're looking for.
