App stuck waiting

Tried downloading an app and it is stuck on waiting. When I hold to delete, there is no "x" above the icon. Tried to sync with desktop and no luck. Also tried to delete from desktop, but because it's not downloaded yet it does not show up.

Did you try to download the app in iTunes on the desktop and then sync the iPad?
Sometimes - if you have a pending download - say in iTunes perhaps - and it didn't complete - that can cause the backup with the waiting apps.
Sometimes restarting the iPad can help get the app to download as well.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Apps stuck waiting on new iPad

I updated to the iPad air and while trying to reload my apps, many are stuck "waiting."
I've rebooted (hard press power button), turned off & back on, double-tapped apps, long-tapped apps, etc...
    No avail.
    Help!

    Hi there servant5866,
You may want to try force closing all open apps and resetting the device as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

  • Apps stuck "waiting" after update - no solutions working

I have three apps that have been stuck "waiting" since my iPad crashed when they started installing (I think it was a full storage issue, which I have since resolved). I have tried all the solutions I have seen everywhere... fully rebooting the iPad, checking that there are no other pending downloads in the App Store or iTunes (in fact other updates have downloaded fine since), logging out of my Apple account, and even deleting the apps by going to Settings>General>Usage. After I deleted the apps, they stopped showing up in my list of apps in Settings>General>Usage>All Apps, but they still appear on my home screen and in the App Store as "waiting." I can't delete them from the home screen, because they stay grayed out and don't get an "x" on them when I make all the app icons wiggle. Any suggestions?

I think that may be part of the problem right there.  Rather than deleting an app through Settings, delete it by holding it until it wiggles and then tap the X to nuke it.  But now that you've deleted it the other way, this no longer works.
I'd suggest adding the apps back to your device, either through syncing or re-download, then delete them as I described above if they are still stuck in an update download, and then re-download them again.

  • Apps stuck waiting to be updated

A couple hours ago my iPhone tried installing updates for my Tweetie and Remote applications. Both icons say they are "waiting" for the updates to install, but nothing is happening in the progress bar. I can't delete them and re-syncing with itunes didn't fix the problem, either. The App Store now says the updates are installed, though clearly they are not.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Bryan

I seem to have the same issue but with three applications:
    Flixster
    Tap Tap Revenge 2
    Convert Any FREE
I can't delete the apps from the iPhone directly so I tried to delete via iTunes, sync (choose do not transfer already purchased). Then downloaded them again and they're still stuck in the same status.
Is there any fix to this please?
    Thanks in advance

  • IPod touch apps stuck "Waiting..."

I believe several of my apps were interrupted when I tried to update them, and now they are grey and they just say "Waiting...". I have tried to delete them (with no progress), I've tried to re-sync them, I've done three hard resets, and I have checked my iPod/iTunes software, and it is up-to-date. Help!!!

Have you tried downloading them on your computer and then syncing?  I am unclear since I do not know what is meant by your statement: " I've tried to re-sync them".

  • Apps stuck "waiting"

Help! I was able to successfully download and run apps using Wi-fi until one of the apps had an upgrade. After this, not only did the upgrade fail (it sat "waiting" with no results) but now I cannot download any other apps (they stay "waiting" as well).
I've tried resetting, logging in/out of iTunes, and cancelling/restarting the downloads for several apps with no success. I synced to my laptop, and I can download apps into my iTunes on my computer and have them show up on my iPad.
Why can't I get them to download using just the iPad? Thanks!

  • How do I get rid of an App stuck in waiting. I synced my iPad with my computer, booted my iPad, signed out and back in the store! Help!!

How do I get rid of an app stuck in waiting? I have signed in and out of ITunes store and booted my iPad. I synced my iAd with my computer. I can't use the app or delete it! Thanks!

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
    If that doesn't work:
    •  Log out of your iTunes store account.  Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
    • Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
    • After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

  • Apps stuck in waiting after updating on iOS 7.0.2

Since i updated my iPad 2 to iOS 7.0.2 i have this persistent problem, I tried everything to make it normal but it never happens.
After i update an App on my iPad throught the AppStore on the iPad this problem occurs.
    1. Eventhough the update is complete the app gets stuck in "waiting... " state
    2. However the App opens through the AppStore on the iPad
Above are few of the apps stuck in waiting and they have a Open button adjacent to them.
Notice that iBooks is on waiting... however i can open it through the app store.
    and use it normally.
Only solution which works as of now is to delete the apps from settings on the iPad and install them again from the Appstore, but then i'd loose all the data i previously have.
I have no Idea why this is happening. I cannot open the stuck apps directly by taping them i have to go through the AppStore. Please help.
PS: You cannot uninstall app by long tapping it because the X mark does not appear on the app.

    Try a reset ...
    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
