Apparently the latest version of Firefox does not respond to the Mac's trackpad ability to use fingers to enlarge and reduce the size of whatever it is I'm looking at. Why?
I'm using a MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.7) and appreciate the ability to enlarge and reduce web pages by using a two-finger "spread" on the trackpad. Since installing 4.0.1, it seems I can no longer do this.
The previous version of Firefox allowed this.
Why? It's lots more convenient that using "command plus the + key".
Does this mean I go back to Safari?

The latest version of Firefox does not seem to work with Google!
When you type something in the search box, you will get presented with a list of possible choices, but Google will not actually perform the search when you press "Enter" or click "Google Search". IE 6 still appears to work fine, as does Firefox 3.6. The problem just seems to be with the latest version of Firefox. It also seems to be intermittent. Sometimes it actually does work..

As for your problem, One of your add-ons might be the culprit too. Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] with all add-ons disabled. If that solves the problem, see [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and possibly [[Troubleshooting plugins]] -
The latest version of iTunes does not allow me to open a playlist in a separate window. I need this feature. Is there another way? You used to be able to double click a playlist and have it appear in a new window.
Others have commented on this too. It seems to be one of the 'improvements' of the newer version you are supposed to embrace with joy as an exciting new development. You can send feedback to Apple but realize you may be perceived as standing in the path of progress.

The latest version of Mavericks does not allow a Pages document to become a 'stationery pad'! Is there a way to do this this other than through the 'Get Info' window? As Pages templates cannot be ordered in folders, my many templates are effectively unusable now and I need to find another way to order and access them.
Are you aware of that you can still use Pages 09 on Mavericks? You don't have to go thru the grieves of using the crippled Pages 5. Pages 09 should bi in Applications/iWork 09 folder.

I've had an old firefox installer which I have been using for some time, though a few days ago it tried to update to a new version. Up comes an update bar as usual. Problem is when it is done firefox does not start. Left in processes in task manager is a firefox which refuses to be killed. Any further tries to start firefox will just add another process also unable to be killed. Before I had to reboot the computer every time it tried to update, just to be able to uninstall firefox and install the older version I had. Now, unfortunately, I deleted that old version, so now I have no functioning firefox at all. Same thing happens with the latest beta version.
i forgot the exact text of the original error message, but it was looking for a *.dll that was not there - as if the install had not completed.
tried re-installing & it would stop in the middle of the download with a completely different error message - i was going to screen grab it, but then i got it to work!
Anyway, after uninstalling everything related to iTunes, emptying my recycle bin, cleaning up a bunch of unnecessary files, and stopping some programs that were running in the background (using task manager) - i did a complete re-install from the Apple iTunes website & it worked fine.

Since the new version of Firefox (which I love, esp the reduced menu bars at the top, leaving more web page viewable space), I am unable to use the multi-touch pinch/zoom function to resize pages. the scrolling still works, and all worked fine before.
Is this a bug or is there something I can do to fix it?

MxNot a fix but if it's just a web site here and there that you find yourself using the pinch zoom feature you can use the IE Tab 2 addon to automatically use the ie engine and the zoom works.
You lose the other firefox features on those pages but as I said, if it's just a few sites it's worth a look.
I sure hope the Mozilla community fixes this in their desktop PC version soon. You can't gripe if it's free so I just keep waiting. :)
Their android and iOS version supports it so why not the PC version? -
After update to the latest version iTunes Match does not synchronized music.
It's still working and working and working but not complete synchronization.. Even if I add only one track iTunes Match can not synchronize it. The problem appears on the latest version of iTunes

I can't replicate this in the newer version, even in the classic view, I can't hide the navigation bar.With the classic view extension provided by Mozilla, you have the ability to move that, as well as the URL bar, back down to the bottom where I usually keep them. This leaves me with an empty navigation bar but no way to hide it.

using Internet Explorer or when using I.E. through AOL; when I place the cursor/arrow/finger over many links , PIX, buttons, etc. ... a flag comes up (much like the ones that ID a function on my desktop) that tells me what the link , PIC, etc. is.

Like I said, I downloaded Firefox 4 and immediately noticed that it did not allow my Norton 360 Identity Safe to recall my user names and passwords. I want to know why and if that can be fixed????? I removed it completely and reinstalled the previous version I had (3.6 ??) and my Norton functions now work. What's up with that?
Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. I use the software Oracle Performance Management System (it is a platform web based pretty common in the finance dpts) for work and is impossible for me to log in using recent versions of firefox.
Every time I get an autoupdate I have to uninstall it and install the version 3.5.7.......... pretty frustrating.
If you can help me otherwise i will be constrained to change browser.If you are going to install an older version of Firefox 3.5.*, it would be best to try 3.5.13 which is the latest 3.5 version of Firefox and has the latest security fixes. Firefox automatically loaded a new version recently. The new version does not shut down when I close the browser it continues running in the background. In addition it opens Adobe Reader for a brief time and then that closes. Everything worked fine before this new version.

Recently I upgraded to Firefox 4. I frequent various forums where I post advise on various subjects. I am finding that version 4 is showing the threads in the forums, allowing me to log in and to post. However the posts as sent in are not coming up at all, even if I get out and return, the page is not "refreshed."
this is a follow up from the profane post earlier....
i have done this twice in two other posts..
here is my problem.. i started off trying to update itunes, it failed twice and said i needed to install manually via tools.
the only place to get to tools is the pop up box that appears when you click check for updates.. if there is an available update then the pop up shows up with the quick time and itunes files to download. so i finally figured that out. i clicked on tools and manual update, four files were saved to a file. Apple mobile device support, another one similar, itunes, and another one i cant remember. I only downloaded the itunes file seeing as though thats all i needed to accomplish in the first place.
so then i restarted my computer bc you need to reboot and then reopen itunes for update to take effect. once i have itunes back open i plugged in my new 5s which i am trying to sync to my computer to get all my stuff back bc i lost my previous phone over the weekend.. once i plugged the phone in an error stating i needed to unistall the apple mobile device support and itunes and then reinstall. well i dont know where those files were originally stored on my computer AND since my itunes was updated, just not the other 3 associated files, when i click check for updates it says its up to date and then pop up containing the quick time and itunes does not pop up thus i cant get back to the tools tab to manually save the 4 files again.
so i was just going to uninstall itunes all together and then i thought well what happens if it erases all my photos apps songs etc... which would defeat the whole purpose in the first place of me trying to sync my new phone to get all my stuff back.
so i literally have no idea what to do at this point.. if you have read this you are probably just as confused as me...
