Appending in file and supplying file name at run time using File Adapter

Hi,
Can we use File Adapter to write in a file in append mode. i.e. a BPEL process opening a file appending some text and closing the file each time it called.
Another query is can we create the file at run time with the supplied file name?

In order to append to a file, we can use Append="true" in the interaction spec for the File/Ftp adapter.

Project explorer doesn't show callers for .rtm (run time menu) files (is this a confirmed bug?)

Maybe I was to quick to report this as a bug... I was unable to find anything related to it at my normal sources of information. Does someone has exeperience with it?

When a library (.lvlib) that contains a file with a run-time-menu (.rtm) file is removed from the project, but there is still a file that uses this .rtm file, both the .lvlib and all of it's vis and the .rtm file are displayed in the project Dependencies.
For the Vi's the callers can be found by 'Find->calllers'. For the .rtm file this always results in 'No items found' but the .rtm file remains in the Dependencies (as it should since it is still used).
Finding the .rtm file can be hard since it is only loaded at run-time and not at edit time(?). If someone encounters this issue, a working method:
- rename the rtm file (so it cannot be found)
- open the vis that you suspect are using this file AND try to edit the run-time menu. When this vi uses the run-time menu a warning will appear (cannot load rtm file, using default menu instead)

thank you for your reply. It seems that a while back this problem has been reported to our R&D group. The request (CAR) has ID; 41579. There is the following statement in this CAR: the caller vi is in memory or not. When a caller vi is in memory, rtm files will currently never report the vi as a caller. This confirms the behavior you are seeing.
I'm sorry to say I don't have a solution at this moment, at this moment they are busy fixing this problem. You can look this up in future release notes by searching on the CAR ID I mentioned.

Reading from a file. How to ask the user for file name at run time????

I have the code to read from a file but my problem is how to prompt the user for the file name at run time.

I have read through some of the tutorials that you have directed me too and they are very useful, thank you. however there are still a few things that i am not clear about. I am using net beans 5.0 I have placed a text file named Results.txt into the project at the root so the program can view it.

With new files opening as a layer and not a background I'm not able to create multiple layers and it wont let me convert the layer to the background.

Yes. You are using the Ellipse Tool's Pixel option. So it is laying down pixels as it is supposed to do without creating a layer.
Choose the Shape option:
Also Layer menu > New Layer creates layers and the curled paper at the bottom of your Layers palette also creates a New Layer. I hope those work.

Problem with Calendar and drag and drop a name to a Time spot with palm desktop. Full name does not appear only last name.

Im having a problem with the palm desktop. When in “Contacts” and I list (LastName,First name) and then I move to the Calendar and drag and drop a name to a Time spot Only the LAST name of the Person appears. How can I fix this so that I can see there full name ?
Also when If list (Company,Last Name) then go to calendar Some of my contacts are out of order but if I drag and drop them into the calendar day the full name appears. Is there any why of fixing this ? Or having it work properly ?

Any Idea how to fix the problem that I am getting when using the (Company,Last Name) and the contacts being out of order in the calander ? I have some last names starting with A then it goes to D then a B then a stack more A and none of then have a Company field filled out in them in them...
Thanks for looking into that for me but it seems really stange to offer the option but not put in the first name in the calander when you drage the name over. I hope this is fixed in the future. Can anyony sugest another desktop platform I can use if I cant fix my problem with the (Company,Last Name) problem?

Update step limit name at run-time

I need to run through some test steps in a TestStand sequence multiple times. This wouldn't be a loop on a single step or group of steps but probably a goto a label "for" loop in TestStand. BTW, TestStand 2.0.1 calling code from a LabWindows/CVI DLL via the standard prototype adapter. Each iteration I need to have the test step limit names be updated with a different suffix. So step1 might have results0 and results1 and on the 2nd run results0 would be renamed to results0b. How do I update the limit names, at run-time, from a LabWindows/CVI function? I.e. the first test in the sequence's Main would update the steps below it to update the suffix. I started down the path of using TS_SeqContextGetProperty to get the sequence handle
TS_SeqContextGetProperty( testData->seqContextCVI, &errorInfo, TS_SeqContextSequence, CAVT_OBJHANDLE, &seq_hndl );
then using TS_SequenceGetNumSteps( seq_hndl, &errorInfo, TS_StepGroup_Main, &num_steps ) to determine the number of steps in the Main tab.
Enter a for loop:
TS_PropertyGetValString( testData->seqContextCVI, &errorInfo, buf, TS_PropOption_NoOptions, ( char ** )&rslt_name ) with buf as "Sequence.Main[0].Result.Measurement[0]" errors out with an invalid name message. The idea is to get this value, update it based on the iteration in TestStand ( this is already acquired and working ), and then set the value back. Then, move on to the next step and so forth.

I've tried two options: 1. having a single step that programmatically changes all the result names in all the other steps in the sequence. 2. having each step update the result names itself. For thought 1 the loop would run and the changes would occur but when the function was exited I'd get an exception from TestStand. No real information in the details as it looked like a memory corruption error. I then examined the details of what occurred and tried more experiments. If I had the loop have more than 1 iteration this behavior occurred. If I comment out the set function it still occurs. Then, for thought 2, it works like a champ on all the steps until I loop back to the top of the sequence. Then, on the first step ( 2nd time through ) it bombs out.
Attached is the code for the 2nd possible solution.
Does anyone know what the problem is or if there's a way to do this?

you can use XSLT or java mapping or adapter module to convert IDOC xml to XLS. Please refer the below blog

then after converting to Excel, you can use the payloadswap bean in mail adapter

I have several sub sequence called in the main sequence in TestStand. Those sub sequences have different sequence names, which i wanted to display by string indicator on the Labview Operator Interface. Is there a simple way to show the current calling sub sequence name during run time(run main).

Hi,
The easiest way is to use the NameOf() function. In this case where you wish to get the name of the current sequence the syntax NameOf(RunState.Sequence) yields the name. I attach a very simple example also.

How to drag and drop a picture at run time in a window displaying pictures on the front panel. The main thing is that the window is displaying frames continuously?

So from your description you have a picture control where you've already created an image and you'd like to drag an image around inside of the picture control. This can be done although it is going to take a significant amount of research and programming on your behalf. You can use the drag event in the event handler to find out when the drag occurs and where the cursor is. Then edit the picture as you move your mouse so that when you drop the picture gets updated.
The even structure is a somewhat advanced topic and the drag and drop feature is one of the more advanced uses of this structure. I would search the example finder (help>>find examples) for "event" and "drag" to see how to use these events. Also you'll want to look at the examples for the picture control.
