Apple Mobile Device Ethernet fails to install

Hi,
I have tried to install on my laptop running Windows 7 the "Apple Mobile Device Ethernet" driver several times, but each time, I get an error message saying that there's not enough system resources to complete the requested service. All other iPhone features run just fine (synchronising, copy, ...).
I already desinstalled and re-installed iTunes and all others apple software. I also deactivated my antivirus (Avast) during the installation, but nothing works.
Can somebody tell me how to proceed?
Thank you in advance for your help,
François Chalumeau

Most people these days dont have an "additional" landline.
Perhaps it's a result of having T-Mobile for so long, or I'm just paranoid, but I'm used to my cell not being terribly reliable (where I live is also a factor) so I guess I hang on to the landline just in case I should need to make an emergency phone call, and just don't have the time to power cycle a mobile.
Also casper, please dont use the word likely if you are confident .....they just dont go together well.
My confidence is a result of my never having an issue with Apple hardware/software that wasn't eventually resolved in some capacity. I'm not an Apple engineer, so I can't really come out and say "Apple will have a new copy of the installer file in 72 hours," now, can I?
This issue is not a Vista problem. I can easily open and run 32bit itunes8. My windows installer is fine and everyone else that gets this pop up is fine too. My concern is why is this working on so many other 64 bit vista machines. Can anyone explain a possible reason for this?
I think the obvious suggestion is that perhaps there is an issue, if not life threatening or immediately evident, with the machines it won't work on. If the installer file is broken, I would think it wouldn't install on any computer, anywhere, ever. I don't think the issue is "You have Vista, you're screwed." I wouldn't really suggest that, because I don't think someone would shell out money for a machine with an OS that doesn't meet their wants and needs. And while Vista does have issues, so does XP and so does OS X.

I have the exact same problem on my workstation and previously solved it by installing iTunes on a different computer and copying all the files and registry keys to my workstation. However, it didn't solve the problem when i tried to update to itunes 7.6 ...
    Is there any solution yet?

  • Apple Mobile Device Support fails to install. Log file provided.

I have uninstalled the older version of itunes and all associated files in the reccommended order. In particular I have verified all Apple Mobile Device files, services and registry entries have been removed. I then downloaded itunes version 11.0.3 to my PC and installed the product. Other than AMDS the product loaded onto my PC and appears to work ok, including being able to recognise my ipod. Unfortunately itunes does not recognise my iphone.
However, the install produced two error messages.
    First Error:
    Program Files\itunes\ipodUpdaterExt.dll failed to register.

    Second Error:

During the install, the program 'rolled back' the portion related to AMDS. To further analyse the problem I extracted the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi from the itunes64Setup.exe file. I ran the .msi file as the System Administrator and produced a log file. The log file partially contained the following:

  • Apple Mobile Device Support failed to install

I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes, however, the Apple Mobile Device Support program will not download. I have removed iTunes and re-installed it numerous times. When I plug my phone or iTouch in to my computer, it does not recognize it and tells me to uninstall and re-install the 64bit version. I have with no success. I am running Windows 7. I have followed all the advice I could find on the Apple Support site. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Apple Mobile Device Support fails to install on Windows XP Pro SP2

I have a dualboot between my Vista and my XP, my itunes on Vista works great and can connect with my ipod touch (2.1) but on my XP the installation of AMDS fails. Tried completly re-installing all services, i searched the internet for possible solutions but it seems i'm the only one having problems with windows XP, all the other similar problems are on Vista.
I know it's AMDS that fails because i unpacked the .exe file and ran all the installers one by one, they all work except AMDS (i get a rollback feature). I downloaded it with 3 different browsers from the official apple site and to eliminate that it's my hard drive that gives errors i also did a CHKDSK.
Also, it's not my ipod either, it can connect to my Vista and other computers with windows XP.
All the latest drivers are installed and during the installation no CD/USB was inserted except my mouse, i even tried it with the CD tray open (sometimes helps). Safe mode also doesn't work
I have no idea what's wrong. Could anyone help me out?

    Hi,
good news: You're not the only one with this problem. Bad news: I don't have a solution either. To restrict possible answers here is what I did so far:
    - computer was set up brand new with Windows XP Pro SP2
    - iTunes installed, AMDS didn't, everything deleted after this, nothing (no iTunes, no Quicktime, no Apple updater) left on computer
    - disconnected laptop from network, switched off firewall, switched off virus scan
    - ran install package for AMDS only, as Johan described, install won't finish, files are first copied then everything gets rolled back (and no log found). This means the service is not existing, so the problem is NOT solved by going into services and switch it on ...
    ANYONE PLEEEASE?
    Cheers & thanks

  • Apple Mobile Device Support won't install, keeps rolling back..

I'm using Windows 7 64bit and i have everything updated. Since I've upgraded my iTunes to version 10.1, I can't sync my iPod Touch with it anymore.
Each time I plug my iPod in,
    - the iPod could be detected by windows but not iTunes, and I keep getting the same error message " "This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64bit version of iTunes""
    - my iPod shows up as "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" in devices and printers
After searching through the internet, I've tried many fixes but none of them worked. I've tried,
    - downloading the latest iTunes and uninstalling it and reinstalling it again and again
    - uninstalling step by step and completely removed everything as guided by this website (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923)
    - extracting the AMDS MSI file from the iTunes64setup and run it separately
    - copying the registry files and the whole Apple Mobile Device Support folder from a Vista machine as recommended in some websites
    - creating a new user account with admin rights and reinstalling iTunes again after completely removing everything
I've read a post (http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2531860) in which the user encounters a similar problem as well, and apparently the user solved this problem by replacing the files in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\netaapl64.infamd64_neutral26aa9fb28983e9b5
    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usbaapl64.infamd64_neutral36363f69e6e22c1b
with files he had extracted from the CAB files within the AMDS MSI installer from the iTunes64Setup download.
But the problem is, whenever I try to extract the netaap164 and usbaap164 files from the AMDS MSI installer, using WinRAR, it says that the archive is corrupted and thus I won't be able to extract these files out.
Can anyone give me any suggestions or teach me what to do? I'm really stucked and lost now. Thanks in advance. =)

After a couple days searching the internet for a solution I pieced togetherwhat my problem was from several forums and fixed it; maybe my solution/problemis similar to all of yours. (NOTE: I’m running Windows XP Professional, 32-bit,with Service Pack 3 – so you’ll have to translate my issue into your Windows 7format because I have no idea how to operate things is that version of Windows.)
I traced the error to the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver under"Universal Serial Bus Controllers" as others have too (everything inthe iTunes installation would install perfectly well except for Apple MobileDevice Support). However, my problem wasn't with the driver itself -- I had amissing .dll file on my computer for the Hardware Update Wizard (whenever Iwould 'right click’ any USB driver and select "Update", HardwareUpdate Wizard would not open; nothing would happen).
So, I went searching for this problem next, and I found this website: http://kf.livejournal.com/208963.html?view=2699587#t2699587
The page suggests that the problem is a missing .dll file called “newdev.dll”that should be located in “C:\WINDOWS\system32\” (again, I don’t know theequivalent folder for Windows 7, so someone else will need to find out where “newdev.dll”belongs) – I did a search of the .dll file on my computer and found it missing. However, I found another copy of it on my computer using “Seach Everything” (foundhere: http://download.cnet.com/Everything/3000-2379_4-10890746.html)– but, you can also use the Windows Search tool. There were copies located in “C:\Windows\system32\dllcache”and “C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386”. (I would suggest searching for itrather than locating it manually in Explorer in case its in a hidden folder.)
I copied one of the preexisting files of “newdev.dll” and pasted it into “C:\WINDOWS\system32\”.Then I tried re-installing Apple Mobile Device Support and it worked (norolling back installation). When I plugged my iPhone back into my USB “AppleMobile Device USB Driver” reappeared under “Universal Serial Bus controllers”in “Computer Management” – all I had to do was “Enable” it again and I hadaccess to my iPhone in iTunes again.
Also, I had copied a preexisting file of AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi to mydesktop prior to uninstalling everything, so when I tried to reinstall iTunesand Apple Mobile Device Support failed to install all I had to do later when Ifound the solution was reinstall AMDS. If you do not have a copy of “AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi”try completely uninstalling everything (like so many other forums suggest, asdoes Apple, here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925),and reinstall iTunes with the Hardware Update Wizard .dll file replaced. (I can’tsay if this entire reinstallation will work since I only had to install AMDS.)
Hope my problem was your problem as well.

  • Help!!! iTunes install error "Apple Mobile Device Service Failed To Start". Error 7 (Windows Error 193)

Help! Following a standard upgrade I got the error message "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 193).
I am running Windows 7 and installing again brings the message "Apple Mobile Device Service failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"
I have uninstalled everything Apple, deleted all related folders and run as administrator numerous times with no luck.
I had hoped that iTunes 12.1.2 would resolve the issue, unfortunately it failed to do so leaving me iTunes free which is driving me mad!
Can anyone advise what else I can do to resolve the error and bring back iTunes?
    Thanks

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Itunes won't install correctly in PC...Apple Mobile Device Service failed to start

I have recently been getting messages that ITunes was installed incorrectly. I've followed all the recommend procedures and it still does not work. I'm also getting a message that the Apple Mobile Device Service failed to start. Also, when I plug in my Iphone to the computer, it downloaded the correct device driver but failed to recognize the Iphone so that I cannot transfer my photos to the PC. Do you have any advice?

    The error message I'm getting is #7, Windows #193. I have 64bit.

  • Apple Mobile Device Support will not install! Any answers re rollback issue?

    Hi,
Im running Windows 32bit and trying to install the latest Itunes version 10.5.1.42 after a few attempts i have managed to install all of it apart form Application Modbile Device Support (AMDS), therefore meaning that i can not sync with my new Iphone.
Essentialy when it gets to installing AMDS it rolbacks. It can create the folders ok and but does not copy any drivers into the folders. All the other Apple folders in common files directory are ok and populated and work. I tunes work - just doesnt let me connect my phone as AMDS is empty.
I have noticed a few threads regarding this issue over the years and tried lots of the suggestions:
completely uninstalling Itunes and all traces of associated apple products. Manually removing residual files. Done this lots and lots of times, Itunes etc will install,  AMDS will not
    checked various permissions
Ensured Windows updates are all up to date
    Removed other mobile phone software
    changed msconfig settings
Im just going around in circles now. I cant bear the thought of running thorugh another uninstall of Itunes and ten watching it install again only to see the roll back bar appear and reverse!
    Any idea people?

The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component, such as Apple Mobile Device Support, won't install normally.
In your case I suggest you start with a clean download of the setup file using the direct link. If reinstalling AMDS alone doesn't work try tearing everything down again.
If that fails try the advice on rolling back to the last build of iTunes that worked for you.

  • Apple mobile device support unable to install

I have windows 8.1 and itunes "11.1.5.5".  I have tried uninstalling itunes and everything else that has to do with apple on my system many times and still get this error. I have also tried what I found in other discussions about installing apple mobile device on its own and when I try that I get this error.
apple mobile device support wasn't installed on your computer.
The installer encountered errors before apple mobile device support could be configured.
Your system has not been modified. To tetry these operations at a later time, please run installer again."
I have tried this many times as well as uninstalling everything that has to do with itunes and apple and I still can't get it to work.
    help!!!!

You could try downloading and installing 7-Zip (free) and downloading a fresh copy of the iTunes installer, unpack the installer into its components using 7-Zip then try a standalone install of AppleMobileDeviceSupport. It may still fail to install but if so you may get useful error messages as to why not.

After months finally let itunes auto update its self. this didn't work due to the next error:
Service 'Apple Mobile Device Service' (Apple Mobile Device Service) failed to stat. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
Than i deleted all appele software from my windows 7 desktop and download the latest version form the appel site.
When installing this had the same message. after pressing ignore the installation continues and itunes tries to launch.
Now a message appears reading: Itunes was not installed correclty. Please reinstall. Apple error 7 and windows error 193
Last i tried to install the apple mobile device service separately but this also didn't help
