Apple reuse rules inquiry

Hey guys, does anyone know if this is possible:
I go to the store, give them my unlocked Iphone 5 to trade for an UNLOCKED NEW Iphone? Or it MUST be on contract?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey Lyssa!
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear on my question.
But I my question was about the "reuse & recycling program".
I mean, if  I take my old Iphone 5 (e.g) to a store and ask them to evaluate and quote a price to my old Iphone in exchange to credits.
If I do that, am I able to buy an UNLOCKED NEW Iphone with these credits?
Do you get what I'm trying to say?
Btw, thanks a lot for answering .

  • Apple Mail Rules dont apply when mail is READ on other devices!

    Hi,
    I use IMAP settings on Apple Mail (v4.5) and also check my emails on the iPhone (iPhone also set up with IMAP). However if i have read an email on the iPhone then when i switch my computer on the incoming Apple Mail Rule that applies to that sender does not seem to work. It keeps the mail within my Inbox and does not transfer the mail/message to the desired folder.
    However, if the same sender sends me an email which i do not read on the iPhone and then switch my Apple Mail ON, then the mail is automatically transferred to the desired folder.
    It looks like the problem is only with READ mail and not UNREAD mail.
    Is there a fix for this? There seems to be a lot of people having the same issue and was wondering if there is any work around on this?
    Would really appreciate any help from anyone on this.
    Regards,
    Jay
    PS: I recently moved from Outlook 2011 on MAC to Apple Mail as i heard is a far superior mail application and works smoothly. So far everything about Apple Mail has been correct, it is a fantastic app, however this Rule problem is pretty basic and surprised that Apple still has not fixed this.

    Hi Glenn,
    Many thanks for this. Unfortunately i dont have this facility on the server as we are using a simple opensource mail delivery and storage service, so the rules would have to be set up on the computer.
    I was using Outlook 2011 and prior that was using Entourage 2008 and both worked well with the IMAP rules. Nothing was ommitted and everything READ or UNREAD was imported and the rules applied. It's only in Apple Mail that these rules dont seem to work.
    Is there no other work around? No Apple Mail Add-Ins? I see quite a number of people complaining about the same problem and i'm surprise that Apple has not found a solution for this.
    Anyway, thank you soo much for your reply. Much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jay

  • Apple Reuse and Recycling Program

    I'm not sure where this should live. Its not a question more of a warning.
    I recently took advantage of the Apple Reuse and Recycle Program in the UK to recycle three iPhones and obtain some vouchers in return. The Apple Partner for this service in the UK is 'BrightStar'. I used the on-line website and within days the return packs from BrightStar arrived. Enclosed was a flatpack box and a returns label. I packaged up the iPhones as instructed by BrightStar's own documentation, affixed the postage label and took the three packets to the Post Office, to be sure I obtained a 'Certificate of Posting' from the clerk.
    Within a couple of days, emails started to arrive saying that the iPhones had been received by BrightStar, however only for two and not three. A day passed and more emails arrived with the Money off Vouchers for the two iPhones but not the third. I left it a day and contacted them via email and received the reply to say that they had not received the third iPhone. Ok.. its got lost.
    So I then ask BrightStar, what now happens? Did they have insurance to cover the loss in the postage that they had arranged? No.. they don't pay for any kind of insurance in the postage that they themselves arrange. BrightStar then informed me that it is up to the customer to take out extra insurance or arrange 'Special Delivery' when they take the packages to the Post Office. However, this is not stated in the packaging instructions. So foolishly I have assumed that their pre-paid postage included insurance for the items.
    So no iPhone, no voucher . I know its not Apples fault but what really annoys me is the attitude of BrightStar, their Recycling Partner, basically washing their hands of the whole affair, even though they had arranged all of the postage and packaging. Apple really do need to have a word with these people, I expect Apples Partners to be of the same standard as the Apple Organisation.
    So people be warned. If you use BrightStar's service make sure you insure your package when you take your pre-paid packet to the Post Office, otherwise if it gets lost, you like me will be out of pocket.
    I don't know who to take this up with within Apple, I can find any kind of contact for this kind of issue.

    You might try contacting the Customer Support folks and see if they can give you a number for customer relations: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201232
    In the US, the user has the option of taking the devices to an Apple store where the transaction is handled by the Apple staff, sounds like a significantly better option.  But, thanks for the warning about buyer-beware - the need to protect yourself anytime a valuable device is sent through the post or any shipping organization.

  • Please help with troubleshooting Applescript invoked by Apple Mail rule

    I set up an account with Boxcar to get push notification of incoming email on my iPhone. I did this because I passworded my iPhone and cannot see incoming messages without entering the password. Now all I need to do is glance at the screen to see whether it's worth it or not to look at the email. In order to use the Boxcar service, I needed to set up a rule to redirect all incoming mail to my private address on Boxcar. The issues that I have are two-fold. First, I do not like blindly forwarding email content to Boxcar regardless of their stated claim that they strip out the sender and subject of a message and discard the rest. Second, if I get a large incoming email, then My method will have to send the large content out again - a waste of resources. To get around this, I tried to write an Applescript for Apple Mail that is invoked by a rule applicable to all messages. The script redirects all messages to my private Boxcar email address and strips out the content of the message. The script follows:
    using terms from application "Mail"
    on perform mail action with messages selectedMessages
    set AppleScript's text item delimiters to ""
    repeat with theMessage in selectedMessages
    set boxcarMessage to redirect theMessage
    tell boxcarMessage
    make new to recipient at beginning of to recipients with properties {address:"[email protected]"}
    set content to " "
    set subject to theMessage's subject
    end tell
    send boxcarMessage
    end repeat
    end perform mail action with messages
    end using terms from
    The problem with this script is that it still sends out the content even though I thought I was setting it to a single space. Other than that, it does just what I need it to do. Any suggestions on corrections, an easier Applescript, or another way to approach the whole issue? One drawback to this approach is that I need to have a Mac running at home that processes the rule for the incoming messages - probably there is no way around this?
    Thanks!

    That makes sense, but then that gets back to your original comment:
    "redirecting the message will send the entire message, as-is."
    I tried to eliminate the attachments by adding the line:
    delete boxcarMessage's attachments
    but it did not work - the attachments were redirected also. So here is the script as it stands now:
    using terms from application "Mail"
    on perform mail action with messages selectedMessages
    set AppleScript's text item delimiters to ""
    repeat with theMessage in selectedMessages
    set boxcarMessage to redirect theMessage
    delete boxcarMessage's attachments
    tell boxcarMessage
    make new to recipient at beginning of to recipients with properties {address:"[email protected]"}
    end tell
    delay 3
    send boxcarMessage
    end repeat
    end perform mail action with messages
    end using terms from
    I appreciate the input. Intuitively it seems like this is doable, but the solution escapes me.

  • Apple Mail Rules no longer seeing Contact Groups

    I am running 10.8.3 and have many rules set up in Apple Mail, most of which label and organize my incoming e-mail, but something has happened and the rules stopped applying. I went in and checked my rules and the problem is that Mail is no longer seeing my groups in contacts. The drop down menu when I set Sender is member of Group now is grayed out and says no groups in Contacts. This is not the case, I have many groups set up on Contacts.
    Anyone have any idea what is going on or how I can fix this. I have run permissions and run Disk Warrior on my drop, but neither seemed to do anything.

    Try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Apple Mail rules keep reappearing after I deleted them!

    I created some rules in Apple Mail to play a bit around but after I deactivated and finally deleted them, they keep appearing and formatting all my mails.
    So now I have no rules defined under preferences but they are still somehow active.
    How can I remove them completely?

    I have this exact same problem. I created a rule for Mail to move e-mails, with some given keywords in them, into the junk folder. Then I removed the rule completely, deleted it. But all incoming e-mail are still moved to the folder. Although I have NO rules left.

  • Apple TV sound inquiry

    Hello,
    I am trying to run my Apple TV through my TV and not getting any sound. I have a Bose sound system, a digital cable box, a TV and Apple TV. They are connected like so:
    Apple TV-->TV
    TV-->Cable box
    Cable box-->Bose system
    Bose is NOT connected to TV, and cable obviously isn't connected to Apple TV.
    Is there anything I can do to get my Apple TV to play through my TV without dramatically changing what I already have?
    Thanks!

    So only the cable box is connected to the bose system, so only audio from the cable box can send audio to it.   Connect the audio out on the TV to bose system.  That way anything played on the TV will play to them.

  • Apple Mail rules

    Hi falks,
    I traing to create rule with sub conditions which will do following:
    If all of the following conditions are met:
         If any of
              from: email@address-A
              from: email@address-B
              from: email@address-C
              from: email@address-D
         Date Received is Greater then 7 days
    Performe follwoing action
         Set color of background
         Move Message to mail mailbox Archive/Inbox
    I am running OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50) Mail.app Version 5.2 (1257)
    I cannot create sub conditions. If anyone have idea how to create ub conditions, please let me know.

    It's not directly possible there are no nested rules in Mail, but you could try to express your "any" sub rules by defining a group in AddressBook:
    Replace
    If any of
              from: email@address-A
              from: email@address-B
              from: email@address-C
              from: email@address-D
    by "Sender is member of group", if it is possible to separate the email addresses you want in a group.
    To define your group, use Address Book: New -> Group and drag the contacts to the new group.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • What are Apple's rules on refunding price difference ?

    Just bought a MacBook Air last Friday and didn't know that the price would drop less than a week later.  Will I be able to get the difference back?

    Since the processors in the new models are more energy efficient, it's definitely a worthwhile swap:
    Power-efficient fourth generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors work in conjunction with OS X® Mavericks to give the 13-inch MacBook Air up to 12 hours of battery life and the 11-inch MacBook Air up to 9 hours of battery life. iTunes® movie playback times increase to 12 hours on the 13-inch notebook and 9 hours on the 11-inch notebook, adding up to two hours of playback time to the updated MacBook Air.

  • I can't turn off Apple's "News" Rule

    Can anyone help me turn off Apple's Rule for setting the background color to blue for News from Apple. According to Help, deselecting the checkbox in Mail > Prefs > Rules should turn it off but it doesn't.
    Unrelated but it would be helpful to me to know: in Entourage, I am used to having an option for deleting a message from the server, but keeping the message locally. Does Mail have this option anywhere?
    Thanks

    I used the greyscal slider and changed the two Apple News messages to white. The question is, what happens when new Apple News messages come in since the Rule is still in effect. I'm not handy with Rules but couldn't I create a Rule to turn any Apple News message to this color white? Seems ridiculous but in lieu of the fact that I can't turn it off...
    By now I've blown my cover as a grumpy curmudgeon so I won't hold back. Another reason I still use Entourage as my default email reader is I can't get Mail to not automatically retrieve my message as soon as I open it. I have it set Prefs>General>Check For New Mail: Manually. Yet every time I open Mail, it hurries up like an overanxious dog an gets all new mail. This screws me up because I already know I have junk mail and now have to delete it a second time. It's like Mail just does not respond to the commands I give it. (I know, I know, whining and grumbling) But seriously, how to turn off automatic News, and automatic checking for new mail?
    Thanks

  • TURBOTAX 2014 CD DOES NOT PERMIT OFFLINE PRINT OR SAVE TO PDF.  YOU CAN ONLY SAVE TO PDF OR PRINT IF ONLINE.  BIG SECURITY ISSUE.  INTUIT IN WSJ ARTICLE BLAMES APPLE, SAYING APP STORE SOFTWARE RESULTED IN THIS.  TRUE?

    Starting this year, Turbotax CD/download versions will not permit people to print tax forms when offline. If you try to print while not connected to the Internet, you receive the warning “There was a problem connecting to Intuit’s Secure Print Service.  Please check your Internet connection or try again later.”  Indeed, Paragraph 9 of the Intuit Software End User License Agreement states:  "You may save your return as a PDF file and understand it may be processed on Intuit servers, not as part of the Software."
    Even if you wish to protect your data by not exposing it to the Internet, Turbotax will not let you without sharing your entire return first with them.  They prohibit you from only printing locally on home, cable-connected printers.
    The result of this is that people who tried to be safe by never going online with tax data, are this year being forced by Intuit software to expose all their sensitive tax information files to the Internet and Intuit print server, even though they do not wish to. Turbotax is putting you at risk.
    On Feb 19 the Wall Street Journal quoted an Intuit spokesperson blaming Apple:  According to Julie Miller, an Intuit spokeswoman, TurboTax made the change “because the Mac product requires a special, third-party code library to support offline printing.” And she says, “based on Apple App Store guidelines, we could no longer distribute the third-party library with our software.”   She said the change in the TurboTax Mac software was first made for 2013 tax returns, but last year customers had the option of printing returns without being connected to the Internet.
    So is Apple to blame that I now have to expose my sensitive tax data to Intuit just to be allowed to save to PDF on my hard disk?  And it's all Apple's fault?
    Can anyone clarify this?

    Thank you for this an the other posts.  Particularly for Barney,
    I have just discovered that Turbotax actually permits you to print (and save to PDF) documents from the Help
    Center built into the program, even when you are OFFLINE.  Works just like normal printing is supposed to.  It just won't let you print actual tax forms. So I guess they were willing to violate Apple’s rules when you print information from their help center offline, but you just can't do the same with your own tax forms.  Clearly this shows that what Intuit told Forbes was a fabrication.
    They do in fact have the proper code in the program for printing and saving to PDF.  They just deny you usage of that code for printing your tax returns, which they want to copy.  I don’t think there can be any doubt about what they are doing.  Surely they are not deceiving apple by allowing the limited print function?
    We can only hope that a brave journalist will challenge them on this, since Intuit will not respond to customers.
    Thank you for any views on this points.

  • Can I have a separate iCloud account and a Apple Id account to keep my daughters phone seperate from mine for the contact?

    My daughter's iPad and my iPhone 5 are under one Apple id.  She was 10 and unless I lied about her birth date she could not have a email account.  Now she is 11 and has a email acct (lied about the age) so she could facetime.  Now she has the new iPhone 5c and I was told at the apple store to set her up a iCloud account and that way my contacts won't go on her phone.  It didn't work so I just shut off the mail and contacts on my phone and hers so they won't blend.  I still want to track her phone, her location and her purchases.  I trust her, just not others.

    In case it has escaped your view, these forums are Apple's Forums. If we help you violate Apple's rules, then we have a problem.
    There are reasons for the age limits. Lying about them is certainly a poor lesson to teach your daughter.

  • How to create rule based on Reply-To address

    Hi, I'm just switching to mac from ubuntu in my workplace.
    I received two mailing lists, any mail have the same Reply-To: header for each mailing list.
    It's possible to automatically move that mail to another mail folder in Thunderbird, by using rule with Reply-To: address.
    I looked for that header in Apple Mail rule, but failed to find. Is there any way to move mails of mailing list automatically?

    Thanks for replying.
    Unfortunately, that did not work.
    I'm using OS with my own language setting, Korean, and the mail program show the major headers like From: , To:, Subject:, Reply-To: and so on. I tried to use "edit header.." with the original name, Reply-To, and the Korean translation, but neither worked.
    Anyway, I found other solution. gmail server could filter the messages by searching specific header name and values for the mailing list. I wiped out the rules in Apple Mail client, and add filter rule in gmail server.

  • Changing 11g Business Rules

    I have a number of questions around the new version of the business rules in the SOA Suite 11g.
    When I add a rules dictionary to a composite am I correct that I cannot reference the dictionary outside of that composite?
    When deploying rules the composite and rules are deployed into the MDS and I can then use the web author to change the rules but are these changes viewable back in jdev?
    Is there any way to reuse rules dictionaries in seperate composites or do I need to create a sub somposite just for the rules dictionary and reuse the composite?
    What is th best way to version my rules? If we version at composite level then this defeats the whole process of changing rules on the fly because I then need to redeploy the rules composite every time I need to make a change (Obviously I know ideally changes should never be made in production and should be tested seperately and deployed correctly into production)
    Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards

    The tree mode feature in 11 sounds like it would most fit this. With this, you could write expressions like:
    Request/Context.key == "foo" &&
    Request/Context.value == "bar"
    Where the / indicates a one-to-many relationship.
    There are more examples of this in the OBR User's Guide.
