Apple Tech . gives some answers?

I've been having some problems with my PB, and I gave a call to a local Apple authorized tech... described the symptoms and he tells me that it is the cooling device placed over the G4 processor that probably is causing all this graphical errors. Note that when the PB warms up by processing the problems fade significantly. Is the cooling system in the latest PB that different from the previous ones? Can it cause changes in the processor arquitecture while it is cold?

It looks like you have a recently purchased notebook. Maybe it needs to be repaired. Take it to an apple store near you if there is one or an authorized repair center.

    First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    Could also be not enough free space for the iPad to operate efficiently. With iOS 7 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free.  For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.
    If neither of these suggestions helps, Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

    Not ONLY are files missing.... But I had gotten some sort of letter about Fraud going on, my programs are ALWAYS glitchy or crashing.... Now, tonight- im trying to finish up a project for a client- i am bringing a pdf into Illustrator and when i go to save it, it just doesn't show up??!?!?!?!!!!! I know Im doing it right, been working with Adobe products for YEARS. Never ever have I had so many problems with the software, like I do with Creative Cloud. Its pure garbage!!!!!!! I went to do a "update" on the CC programs on the creative cloud website... Said I had the wrong password, which I know I didnt. Keeps signing me out, even though I check "keep me signed in".... Then I log in to update them and it says I DONT EVEN HAVE ANYTHING DOWNLOADED!!!!! Ummmmmm yes i do! They are on my computer and what I have been using. C'mon Adobe- GET WITH IT!

    actually i found out how to fix it
    1 sign out of apple account
    2 close down passbook app
    3 change year to 2013
    4 reopen passbook and sign in at the button with your apple ID
    5 change the time to auto update and it should work from now on.

    I had been through a very hard time to get my iPhone 3G replaced.
    I am a super loyal customer from apple, this iphone 3G 16G white is not my first iphone, i have a 8G black one and iphone 2G which were working perfect for me, since i planned to get a second one for my wife, i just found out the iphone 16G white was not perfect desgin, which means the plastic part and metal part are not super match and cost the edge sharp and rough. however, this is not the way iphone supposed to be, because my 8g black got no problem about that..
    so i called the rogers store where i purchased from, the store told me they wont do replace/return/repair(my iphone still under 30 days and 30mins use) for iphone and they want me to call rogers service center, and i did call rogers more than 10 times in that day, the answer for that is i have to go back to the store where i purchase.
    yes i did call the rogers store again, and i got the same answer, the reason for them is the iphone is different from others phones, they cannot do anything for me, i have to contact rogers again.
    so yes i did call rogers again, the rogers' representatives gave me some options like i may go back to some apple retail stores,
    yes i did drive from far away to the York dale apple store, the technian from apple store gave me a very bad attitude and checked the iphone for me, he was saying yes, the edge is sharp but it's cosmetic problem, they wont swap it for me. so i was so disapp, i had no choice to go.....
    after a few calls from rogers again, the iphone department suggest me to go to the store again, ok i made a call to the store before i go there, the wired thing is the store said ok I can bring my iphone there and they will check that for me, but they didint say sorry or anything and they were not ensure they can swap it for me.
    at the same time which is now, i still dont know the answer yet, but i already made a desicion that i will return the iphone 16G white forever...this hassle make my life so frustrated. i hope apple can give me good answer for that.. <edited by host>

    1. Apple handles ALL replacements. Not the carrier.
    2. It should be covered of manuf. defect.
    3. Call Apple direct (1-800-MY-IPHONE)
    Tell them issue. Be polite and give facts about Apple tech acknowledged issue. They will send you box to send phone back (free of charge) and you will get a new one.

    The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, you will need to update via your computer's iTunes.
    Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad via File > Devices > Back Up
    Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand sidebar, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

    It should be in the Videos App - if it's not in there then have you got a film age rating set in Settings > General > Resttrictions that is hiding it ?

    I'm not sure, but I know it's not recommended to upgrade to iOS 8 on anything older than an iPhone 5. I only lost my music playlists and music that was on my phone, but that music is also on my iTunes, not the playlists though, and I don't want to go through ALL my iTunes library to fix it either... But it seems I don't have a choice right now.
    Whatever you do, do NOT upgrade to iCloud Drive, keep iCloud till OS X Yosemite comes out, if your computer is a Mac. I also just noticed that all my documents on my phone are gone from Pages, BUT if I go on the iCloud website they are still there. Hopefully it will all work itself out when I can update my macbook pro to OS X Yosemite.
    If you backed up your phone and all your purchases off your iPhone prior to trying to upgrade you should be fine... But I'm not even remotely sure.

    OK, so we've trusted Apple's vaunted security protocols and installed their update. No tell us what the **** malware does. Please. Has my financial info been compromised? Passwords? Keychain? What????

    You do realize that Apple doesn't live here, right? They might drop by unofficially to browse in their spare time, but rarely comment and never openly or officially.
    Safarii crashes and occassionally redirects to ad sites are about the only thing users are reporting today and some noticed nothing at all. There were many crashes in the early days, but it would seem they've worked out most of the bugs.
    Intego wrote the only analytic report I have found that alleges capture and reporting of username/password pairs. They even figured out that reporting goes out over Twitter. But so far there has only been one report, that I've heard about, of fraudulent credit card activity around the time of infection. Maybe they just haven't gotten ariund to the exploitation phase yet.
    As was mentioned, this malware has a backdoor, so could be configured to do most anything.

    Please only those who have actual experience answer:
    1) Ipod Classic connected with component cables to a plasma TV plays .m4v video that's more than acceptable viewing, will these same .m4v video files play more than acceptable viewing using Apple TV?
    2) Are the video files(not DRM) that is the .m4v available to my other networked Macs wired or wirelesss as downloadable; ie the Apple TV functioning as a "server".
    3) does Apple TV in fact function as an Airtunes device? So I can rid myself of two Expresses?
    4) what would be the approximate time of streaming a 2 hrs movie to the Apple TV wirelessly. Using Apple Extreme N router to Apple TV?
    all answers are dependent if I purchase one, thanks in advance for you effort.

    1) a video that can be played with an iPod Classic will be displayed by the ATV in the same quality. I saw no difference on a brand new Pioneer 42in 720p Plasma.
    2) ATV does not function as a server, you can only sync it with one Mac and you cannot just access the ATV hard drive. You can use a Mac to share media libraries.
    3) yes (but why would it allow you to get rid of TWO AirTunes Express)
    4) I dont understand the question. On an N network, it will take you less than 5 minutes to transfer a movie from ATV to a Mac or vice versa. The time to download a movie from the iTunes Store to ATV to watch it will depend more on your internet connection that your network. Even a G network is much faster than any available internet connection.

  • HT1688 iPhone 4S no WiFi anywhere iOS 5 after Apple Tech help same issue on iOS 6

    ISSUE  - can not connect to any WiFi hotspot at all
    Several weeks ago my daughters iPhone 4S AT&T (on iOS 5) phone number failed to connect to any WiFi hotspot on her college campus including: campus wide WiFi, Starbucks  or her Cisco 1500 WiFi in her dorm room.  She has an iPhone 4S under warranty (I think now in the range of 30-20 more days).
    The iPhone couldn't find any WiFi at all, but her roommates iPhone 4 worked perfectly everywhere on all hotspots.
    So I have been paying for massive data overage charges with AT&T because the iPhone 4S is broken.
    AT&T and then APPLE tech support first  call 4 hours long
    She rented a car and drove home 47 miles (94 miles round trip) and spent the afternoon a few Sundays ago and I spent 4 hours on the phone with AT&T and then Apple support.   I was weird I pointed our that her phone was 0.06GB over capacity e.g. a yellow caution alert in iTunes - but the Apple tech on the phone said just back it up and we would reset and restore it.
    We did all the usual stuff with AT&T and then they gave up and moved us to Apple (backups, resets, then a full system factory revert, and restore) - it was brutal I hadn't seen my daughter in 2 months and her entire visit was a tech support nightmare.
    Despite saying I did not want her to upgrade to iOS 6.X - the apple tech wanted to do a full restore BUT the restore procedure triggered an unwanted iOS 6.X upgrade  (and wiped the phone and started a massive download) without my permission - it was a slow painful 1 hour 40 minute download.  Worse yet I kept thinking that if she is 0.06GB over capacity and the iOS 6.X is "bigger" than 5.X what was going to happen to her phone ?  The apple tech got testy with me when I pointed this out I had to say "you know if a glass of water is overfilled by 0.06 and you want to replace 2 oz with 3 oz (e.g. the iOS upgrade form 5 to 6 ) then obviously it will spill some more - she didn't get it.
    So I have a near 2 hour download - scheduled a call call back but was hung up on (Apples IP phone system couldn't here me talk) and had to go back through AT&T's 611 support number support to get an Apple technician since the Apple line said it was closed - her iPhone was in a limbo 1/2 upgraded state waiting for user input in iTunes.
    During the restore (I say during not after) that her WiFi did start working while the apple tech was on the line BUT the restore was still gong on in the background - her camera roll took 16+ hours to restore ( yes sixteen hours !!!) - during which time she left the phone tethered to her Mac-book didn't use it and left her Mac-book attached to a power source. 
    Overall she says that lost some data and her also her music playlists on her phone, and it did connect to WiFi when the rep was on the line and when she first got back to the her college campus.
    Comments (not related to the issue at hand):
    1. Overall this was a very very time consuming experience - I am a computer guy (not stupid but not super Mac knowledgeable either) but it seems to me that we should be able to attache the iPhone to iTunes and Apple should be able to remote control everything instead of saying click her click there and having Apple technicians say there is a non-existent menu (she was mixed up between Mac OS-X and Windows PC iTunes) here etc. etc.. Seriously why have the end user involved this is 2012 and if the iTunes is on the Internet there is no excuse for not granting access to Apple Tech!
    2. As for iOS 6.X (I loaded it my IPhone 4) your maps are crap and useless I hate it thanks for giving me a worthless mapping system - I gout out my old GPS unit and put it back in my car.  Seriously give us back Google maps. My other daughter gets pop-ups upgrade to iOS 6 but can not load iOS 6 because it then says not enough space.  What a joke !

    So it only worked for one (1) or two (2) days despite my daughter driving almost 100 miles and being sucked into a a marathon 4 hour tech support nightmare with Apple.  The net result the exact same thing started happening again no WiFi capabilities again.  So I had her call AT&T at 611 and the AT&T technician talked to her looked at the lengthy case notes from the prior call e.g. the history and said that the iPhone 4S was defective phone no point in wasting another four hours of every one's time.  She was told by AT&T to go to the Apple store get the iPhone replaced as it was under warranty.
    Problem is that she has no way to get to the Apple store (no car) so I now have a 94 mile round trip to pick her up and go to an Apple store before her one (1) year warranty expires - as such I made this appointment.
    I did some more research and this seems to be a pretty big problem for people - Apple is hiding the issue hoping people just go away and they have no concept of cost and time that they force down customers throughts to debug problems.  
    It even seems like Apple actually hid a known problem from me during my initial four hour tech nightmare that Tim Cook admitted publicly on Sept 24, 2012 (last few links) see below links for further research:

    All in all Apple is really dissapointing me 5 iphones and the newer they get the more bugs 3G worked great no issues, iPhone 4 no major issues, iPhone 4S buggy WiFi - never want to use an iPhone 5 form what I am reading.

    Back up all data.
    This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
    If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.

    Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.

  • Apple tech helped me 60 min ago. Told me to create new account for wife. Wiped out her ipod music--now iTunes wont let me download it in her new account so I can restore her music!  Help!!

    Today an Apple tech helped me 60 min ago. Although my wife and I have diff apple ID's, our music was mixing and syncin back and forth.  The tech told me to create new comp user account for wife which I did. I wiped out everything on her ipod and signed in under her ID.  When I tried to put it back I got a message that I couldn't download her purchased music for 90 days because there was another apple ID associated with my computer.  Not sure wether that means mine or hers.  What I am sure of is that I'm dead if I can't get her music back.  Please help.  Thanks,  Craig

    I can understand how that would be frustrating. If you created a brand new Apple ID for her, your Apple ID should not have been affected any more than anyone else's. They are as separate from one another as your Apple ID is from mine.
    Since you just bought your MacBook Air, you can certainly contact AppleCare for this, and I encourage you to do so. They will straighten it out.
    Until then, if you want to troubleshoot this on your own, sign in to your Apple ID here:

    Click the blue "Manage your Apple ID" button. If it says it no longer exists or gives you other hassles, it's probably not worth your effort to pursue. Have Apple fix it.
