Apple tv 3 after OS 5.1 update stalls streaming movies after one movie
I updated our Apple tv 3 to os 5.1 (on 29 Sep 2012). The update worked without a hitch, except that after playing a single movie using home sharing the apple tv now stalls on the pin wheel loading the second movie. The only thing that seems to fix this is restarting the computer serving the movies. Restarting itunes doesn't work, neither does restarting the apple tv. This problem didn't occur prior to updating the apple tv.
Our machine serving the apple tv is a little old (ibook g4 with itunes 10.6.3) but hasn't changed between updates. The only thing that changed between the update is the apple tv software.
Has anyone come across this problem? Is there a way to go back to version 5.0.2? This is causing some frustration.

I tried two fixes which worked for this problem
1) do away with wifi completely. This worked really well, as I was originally using an ibook g4 which wasn't much use to me for much else. Connected everything up and never had a problem with ATV3 running 5.1.1
2) downgrade to 5.0.2. Following the instructions here (http://forum.firecore.com/topic/8989). make sure you get the correct restore file for an ATV3 if you're using it. This link has a copy to both restore files (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/archive/t-1486275.html).
Neither are elegant solutions, but the downgrade seems to be working best - considering I can now operate it all with wifi again.

Hi All,
I recently bought my Apple TV (3rd gen) and have the most recent update (5.2). I also have the most up to date iTunes (11.0.1). The thing is that when I want to enter the library on my laptop (windows 7) Apple TV freezes after one song. It loads the next song but then stops. I still can go back in the menu, but the connection with the library is lost.
I also have a desktop computer (windows 7) running with a different iTunes library, and when i stream music from that library everything works fine. So my guess is that there is something wrong in the laptop (ACER Travelmate). I tried loads of things but they all do not seem to work:
- switched off windows firewall
- switched off IP/V6
- reinstalled the bonjour software
- reinstalled the itunes software
- I use a TP-link router with up to date firmware
Any ideas what might cause this problem? Is there maybe any other software that could be blocking my connection?
Tnx!I have the same problem. I think it is disgusting that nobody at Apple has responded to your post. I see no evidence that Apple cares about this bug, which renders Airplay (on Apple TV) useless.

That is the problem. You are supposed to use your own Apple ID. If the person who owns the ID is not a user of your computer and will install the apps with the ID on the computer for you, you need to buy the apps with your own Apple ID and install them instead of the versions that you do not own. -
I have two phones on one apple ID. My son updated to icloud last night and when he did it took my contacs off of my phone and put his in there. When I go to text the numbers I can still find but when I click on the contacts they do not show. Is there a way to change this without restoring the last back up?
You'll have to migrate one of the phones to a different account, then delete the other person's data from each account (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account. On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't from each account. -
It steams movie previews so i know it is connected to the internet and it sees my movies but when i click on them to play they take unusually long and then if they start they just dont load. I have had this unit for a year and have not had any problems till now. The last update changed the look and then it wont stream it is very frustrating. any advice will be appreciated. I have already unplugged everything and reset everything and still nothing.
Just look through the list of posts - you will see many people asking the same question. My father and i (different households) have the same issue. Apple techs want to blame it on interference or firewalls, BUT everything was working before the update so that is just a blow off answer. Apple needs to fix this.

Once you've reset the password, you will have to sign out of that account and back into it on each device. -
After having installed OS X v10.9.1 on my computer, the apple store purchases suggests downloading 10.9 update or the full OS X installer. Do I need to do that?
Are these shown in the App Store's Updates page? If not, then you don't need them. You could download the full Mavericks installer application if you want to create a bootable USB flash drive installer or just to keep handy should you need it (store it in your Downloads folder.)

No, if you have that picture it means the update went wrong and you need to restore via iTunes.

i would like to inform you that
i have received today an email from Apple adrees (Warning your account has been limited), Apple in this email requesting me to update my Apple ID information. After i updated that as well and follw up with instructions the massage bellwo was appeared to me(Apple ID doesnot have permission to access iTunes connect)

Sign out from the new Apple ID with iTunes on your computer and sign in with your old iTunes account with iTunes.

Creative Cloud icon disappeared from Apple Tool Bar after I installed some CC updates. Does somebody know what the problem can be?
I had a similar issue. I closed the Cloud icon, and when I went to open it again, it just died.
I uninstalled Adobe Creative Cloud, went to the Adobe CC download page and requested a trial copy of PS, being sure to enter my CC name and password. It then reinstalled Adobe Creative Cloud, and all is working again (I hope). -
All Apple apps quit after system update install
Installed most recent system update on a perfectly stable, happy Mac. Since then, any apple app- (mail, safari, update, address book so far) will launch and then immediately quit. I am also getting a "subpubagent unexpectedly quit" pop-up which has never happened before on this machine. Firefox, word etc. all seem fine. Any ideas?

Apple mail crashes after Mavericks update
My Apple mail crashes after Mavericks installation. There are also some other minor bugs that slow down the system but they are by and by adjusting, for example, the mouse took little time to ge tused to mavericks, but notw it is fine. Only issue is Apple mail.

ninettaMy initial enthusiasm about the account de- and reactivation actually waned quickly after I realized that I couldn't have all accounts active without crashing. Now I just discovered a new solution that seems to do the trick for me:
*Delete Smart Mailboxes (e.g. "Today")
It seems Mail reindexes all the thousands of mails that you have in your folder and mail just breaks down if you have several bigger accounts.
After deleting smart mailboxes, Mail now works normal. So far...
Tip for those that haven't upgraded to Mavericks yet: delete the smart folders/mailboxes in Mail, and please report here whether you encountered issues or not. -
HT204268; I have purchases on an aol login pre 2008 and all recent stuff under an apple id. I currently see and use everything when i login with the apple id. After March 31st will my apple id account still show and contain all?
I understand the instructions to create a new account id (apple id) from the old aol account. However, does this mean my purchases will be split into 2 accounts; or does the fact that I currently see everything under my apple id (regardless of the purchased by username) mean this will all still appear in my current account as it does now?You see them where when you login your non-AOL account ?
If you currently have two accounts (the AOL username account and an email address account) then you will continue to have two accounts, and nothing should change when you update the AOL account to be an email address (apart from how you access that account).
You will just be renaming the account to have an email address for accessing it, not creating a new account.
