Apple TV busy?

Hi folks~
I've been having problems with my apple TV over the last couple of days. The movies synced to the Apple TV have suddenly stopped staying synced. When I start up iTunes, all my movies start syncing all over again.
Now today, I received the message that my Apple TV is busy. It won't sync with iTunes. I don't know what it's got to do that so important, but it has me stumped.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, mhh

Nothing seemed to help my ATV. What I finally did do, was replace my 2WIRE wireless router/modem. It was constantly dropping out. If it dropped out while syncing the ATV, the ATV would wipe out movies already there and the process would start all over again.
I bought a NETGEAR DGN2000 router/modem. Since I've had the new router up and working, the ATV completed a full sync and all the movies have stayed set. My PPC G4 PowerBook Ti seems to run better as well. I can stream video from CNN again where as before, I'd have to wait for the video to download, then watch it.

  • Does Apple host business web pages without the OSX Server?

Does anyone know if Apple hosts business web pages other than what you would get with the iWeb app and MobileMe without the OSX Server?

I would suggest using a third party hosting service "I use IX Web Hosting. MobileMe simply does a domain mask. IX Web Hosting offers reasonable pricing, unlimited bandwidth, & dedicated IP addresses just to name a couple features.

  • Sync no longer works Apple TV BUSY

My apple Tv worked fin for quite a few months, not a glitch. Recently, however, when I try to sync I get an error message saying Apple TV is busy, even though it is not. Any ideas? I tried firewall, resetting, disconnecting and reconnecting my Apple TV and most other logical fixes. Nothing! Any ideas please?

I've had this happen on a couple of occasions as well. The one solution I have found is simply to re-set Apple TV to "restore factory settings." Unfortunately this means you have to re-sync all content from your Mac again, but in my case this has done the trick. It also corrected some content problems I was having with Apple TV, such as some songs from certain artists not appearing on my Apple TV, etc. It's about a 2 hour or so fix, depending on how much content you have and how quickly you can stream it, but I've found it works. It means re-registering Apple TV on your Mac as well, but it is not a big problem. Give this a try. I personally am extremely happy with Apple TV. Rumor has it Apple is discontinuing this device for reasons I don't understand. I think it is the best product they have come out with in quite some time.
Good luck. I think the situation is "fixable".

  • Apple Modem Busy Signal

I am using a fax program (Pagesender by Smile Software) and run into problems with recognition of a busy signal. It seems they are not being recognized and the program continues to attempt to connect. The support people for Pagesender state that it is the Apple Internal Modem that does not recognize a busy signal and recommend buying an external USB modem. I find it hard to believe that the Apple Modem does not recognize a busy signal. Is this true? If so, is there a fix? Is there a way to test the Apple Modem?

It is more than a busy signal, I think. I am having the same problem - I try to send a fax and something goes wrong, busy signal, no answer, whatever. If I delete the job and try to start over, the modem is reported as unavailable. I downloaded ZTERM to see if I could regress to 1991 and start controlling the modem with stone age Hayes AT commands, but it too reported that the modem port was unavailable.
There are hardware diags on one of the OS disks, but that won't do much good since the modem will work at least once. It takes some sort of software failure in the OS to trigger this condition. That is, the modem is probably fine but the kernel software running it is broken. It disappears at the lowest level - the port disappears - but only after it is used once and fails to connect.
There us no option to hang up the modem in the status icon, and I have not been able to get the modem speaker turned on either. If I can't hear what it is doing it makes it much harder to troubleshoot, but the thing just ignores the settings.
Not to get on the soap box too much, but these rocket surgeons need to stop worrying about what color the next iPod will be and start paying attention to what they are doing in their core business. Having to reboot to get the modem back if a fax number is busy is asinine. I haven't had to do that in Windblows since at least version 3.11, if then. This OS is deteriorating with each new release.
My gut tells me that they just don't care enough about the iMac G5 user base to test their software against that platform. The sound is broken, the modem is broken, the Firewire interface can't capture DVI without corrupting the hard disk, and mine has required six rebuilds just to get Tiger running even this badly. I used to think Macs "just worked" and Windblows "just didn't". Now that relationship is reversing - it is my 64-bit XP that "just works" and my 64-bit OS X that "just doesn't work".

  • Ask Apple to add Business themes to iWeb

On the iWeb Feedback page I noticed there were two questions where Apple includes business as a survey question. They could be thinking about some sort of business support for future releases. If your interested in Apple supporting business on an iWeb site published to MobileMe go to
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html
*1) What do you use iWeb for*
    Select "Business Organization"
*2) What type of themes would you like to see added*
    Select "Business/Professional
This is the best way to get this feature added

Just as an FYI, MobileMe and iDisk aren't intended for "business" use.
You agree to use the Service only for purposes as permitted by these TOS and any applicable law, regulation, or generally accepted practice in the applicable jurisdiction. *The Service is designed for personal use and not intended to be used for commercial business purposes, including, but not limited to, transacting online sales or software distribution via an e-commerce site.*
    from here
    http://www.apple.com/legal/mobileme/en/terms.html
Now, I don't PERSONALLY know of any pages that have been removed from MobileMe for being a "business" BUT, I think it's clear that Apple doesn't want anyone depending on MobileMe as a money-making venture. If, at some point in the future, there's a failure at Apple that takes sites down for a period, I'm not sure they could use "But my business DEMANDS that my site be up around the clock!!" as a complaint given the above.

  • Apple TV refuses 802.11n

    Howdy folks...
Bad week for Apple products for me. I went through two iPhones and now my Apple TV has decided to downshift! In the middle of watching a movie, the screen went black and came back with "Your iTunes Library is unavailable, make sure *computer name* is on and iTunes is open". I went over to the main computer and sure enough, iTunes was on, open, there were computers showing up in the shared section, but the Apple TV was missing under Devices.
    I'll describe my setup:
I have a main file server in the house with the master iTunes library, it's the only library Apple TV syncs with. Connected to the server's ethernet port is an Airport Extreme N in bridge mode (one of its LAN ports), also, there is an 802.11 G "UFO" Airport connected to one of the spare LAN ports on the new Airport (this is the primary base station that is connected to my modem). I designed the network this way so that I can get the full 802.11n speed to my 802.11n devices (black MacBook and Apple TV), and other 802.11g devices would have their own portal into my file server. All Macs in the house run OS X 10.4.10 with iTunes 7.3.1 (I'm a freak about versioning)
I navigated to the Network section of Apple TV's settings where I noticed it was no longer connected to a wireless network, and in fact wouldn't scan or display ANY networks (there are about 25 within range of my apartment that I ALWAYS see), so there was no possibility of me rejoining my network, even manually. I realized the situation was crappier than I thought and would require some hard-resetting and restoring. Here's everything I did:
    Factory reset Apple TV
Factory reset BOTH Airport Extremes (G & N) and set them up with NO security
    Reinstalled iTunes, re-imported entire library
Turned Syncing off, then back on (I could only enter the pairing code when joined to 802.11G)
I discovered that after the restore, the Apple TV's Network utility on first boot would see my base stations! However, it would only join the 802.11G network, it continuously errored out when attempting to join the 802.11 N network (either -6, -3 or 0 as a code, which I couldn't find documentation for). Mind you, my MacBook can join my 802.11 N network with no problems at all, both before and after the factory reset of the base station. After I got the error code, and I went back to try and join my 802.11 G network, all the within-range networks were gone, and the scanning no longer worked as I described above. So I had to factory restore AGAIN. When the Apple TV came back up, I joined my 802.11G network with no issues, the Apple TV popped up in iTunes and began to sync. I cancelled the sync and ran the Software Update to get me to ATV 1.1. When it rebooted, I tried to switch networks and got the same loop of errors - try to join N network, fail, then no networks at all are displayed.
Does anyone have any further recommendations for troubleshooting, or is the wifi card in my Apple TV fubar? I'd imagine that would be covered under the 1 year warranty, but since I got the Apple TV on launch and more than 90 days has passed, AppleCare refuses to speak to me (an ex Apple employee, a current Apple certified technician, in the Apple Consultants Network, and Apple Store business liaison for small/medium business in the Bay Area....what nerve!) even though I never used my "one phonecall".
I've been really disappointed with their customer support as I've seen many of you on the boards have been as well, so hopefully we can help each other!

I know it's a lot of work, but you could try setting up your network and tv again, using entirely different criteria, ie new network names, device names and passwords. I'm not guaranteeing success, but I have seen networking devices behave as though they remembered passwords and names after a reset and have conflicted with a new set up using the same passwords/names etc.

  • I am unable to get the iTunes store to accept my Apple ID and password, despite having received an email from Apple indicating that the ID and password are valid. I purchased an iPad and need to sync my laptop with it, but I can't download any apps.

How do I get apps downloaded from the iTunes store? Every time I try to sign on with my user id and password, I get a message stating that my account has never been used to purchase anything from iTunes before, and that I need to review my account. Yet when I click on the link to review the account, it just leads back to the store.  I have tried "starting from scratch" to attempt to create a new account again, but get the message that my email is already associated with an Apple account, so it won't let me start over. I just purchased an iPad2 and am trying to get started with downloading items,  but getting nowhere fast. If this is an example of how Apple does business, I may be returning the iPad2 for a refund.

Have either of you had any luck with this issue.  It began happening to me today when I was trying to purchase music on iTunes.  I have purchased music and games in the past and have had no problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • How do I remove an old apple ID from the APPS Store

I gave my 27 inch iMac to my dad and thought I had everything deleted off my IMAC before I gave it to him.  I created an Apple ID for him; however, when we try to download updates from the APP Store it comes up with my old apple ID and asks me for the password to my old apple ID.  We are able to log into ICoud and ITunes using his new apple ID but for some reason the old apple ID keeps coming up in the APP Store box when we try to download an update and the old apple ID is "grayed out" in the APP Store box and we cannot type over it.  If we open up the app store and use the drop down menu, we are able to type in his new apple ID and purchase apps. I have tried signing out of the APP Store and ICloud and iTunes and the APP Store will not let go of my old original apple ID.  An apple ID is nothing more than a "User ID" and I have never heard of a user ID that could not be deleted or changed!!!  I am a former long time PC user and I like the Apple products, but the whole iCloud, Apple ID business seems very complicated to me. I am dreading carrying a 27 inch computer to the Apple store to fix something that should not be so complicated.

An apple ID is nothing more than a "User ID"
Actually, it is more than that. If you read the licensing agreements for any OS version or app obtained at the app store, it will become clear: the license for any app or OS obtained at the app store is not transferable. Hence it is tied to your Apple ID and will remain so - it cannot be removed.
You are supposed to remove anything obtained at the app store from the computer before giving/selling it. Your father will also not be able to reinstall the OS if need be.
Which OS version was on the Mac originally? You will need to use internet recovery (Command + Option + R) to erase your drive and then reinstall the original OS (if Lion or later). If it came with an install DVD, boot from that, erase the drive and reinstall. After that, your father can very easily download/update/reinstall any OS or app using his own Apple ID.

  • I have account with Google under a different name for the games I play, the game companies want access to Apple account and other email accounts to be able to contact all friends, aquaintances. So should I set Apple account on other account.

I have two accounts with Google, one for business other for games. The games companies want access to names of clients, aquaintenances, friends etc. I only have one account with Apple, using business account. So do I set up another account with Apple, for the games, to protect clients, friends and aquaintences. As I am sure that no one wants to be bothered by the different games. Using iPhone 4s updated to ios7.  Sincerely       JC1869

Yes. The same account/Apple ID does not have to be used

  • Multiple Apple IDs in use on iPhone

    Hi,
I have a more or less problem iPhone but I'd like to solve it since I'm kinda a decent person.
So I just reset mi iPhone and when I used my iCloud backup to restore all my files, apps and so on, it asked me to type in passwords for three Apple IDs other then my own. So I guess there have to apps on my phone which i probably once got from a friend and used their account to download that.
    So here goes my question:
Is there any way I can find out which apps, music or whatever I didn't get myself? I'd like to delete those files so it won't show up again.
So did anybody have the same problem and knows how to solve it?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Managing multiple Apple IDs in the office

    Hi folks,
I'm at a small design studio, with 17 Macs. At the moment staff use their personal Apple IDs for updates etc - the problem with this is we have various freelancers who come in and use different macs. Is there an easy way to manage Apple IDs for multiple Macs - ideally…
An Apple ID would be associated with the Mac, not the user's email address. This would solve the problem we currently have when people leave or join the company, and when we have freelancers in.
Could we set up an office 'IT@…' email and use the same Apple ID across multiple Macs? How would this affect purchases of software - iWork for example - where we'd want that software purchased for multiple Macs?
What I really want to avoid is having to tie each Mac, and its software to a specific email address - which may be out of date in weeks or months.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Rob
