Apple tv graphics bad

I'm having trouble with the cover art and photos being streamed from my iMac to the Apple TV (2).  It's obvioulsy lo-res compared to the native art on the atv like previews and other graphics.  I'm up to date with software on both machines and can't find any settings in iTunes that would only stream at 480 or whatever it is...

Yes, I'm sure, as it's also all my photos from my photo library.  Also, the cover art comes from iTunes (Apple sourced), which is why I'm baffled.  I've searched the 'net for perhaps some settings in iTunes that limits the dpi for streaming, but nothing...
Thanks for the reply...

  • Cannot access Graphics - bad class file

    Hey.
When I try to compile my source I get an error saying...
    .\Man.java:146: cannot access Graphics
    bad class file: .\Graphics.java
file does not contain class Graphics
Please remove the files or make sure it appears in the correct subdirectory.
It's on a different computer so that's not exactly it, but it's close enough. Compiler was working fine until the other day when i found out that all the source files were zipped up in src.zip, I had to extract Graphics.java so I could open it in emacs, and after I did that it started giving me that error message. There's nothhing wrong with my source, and I didn't move Graphics, it's still in the correct place exactly as it was, and i looked at it, all the right stuff is still inside. I'm quite confused.
So do I have to reinstall? That would mean a massive download on my 56k and I kinda wanna carry on with my work.

You should not need to unzip src.zip to use the Graphics class or any class that comes with j2sdk. The compiled classes are in jar files that are installed in certain directories when you install the j2sdk.
You should only need to have a line "import java.awt.Graphics;" near the start of your source code.
The error most likely occurred when the compiler found a Graphics.class file but inside the file is java.awt.Graphics class, not a plain Graphics class.

  • Apple TV connectivity with network suddenly stopped; reset twice; laptop and desktop access internet fine; Apple TV box bad?

Our Apple TV has worked fine with our Wi-Fi network for about a year.  Connectivity suddenly stopped.  I have reset it twice but it is still unable to connect to the internet using my Wi-Fi name and password.  Both our iMac and Macbook are accessing the network without issues.  Is our Apple TV box bad?

    Hello Heypaddles,
As it says at the bottom of the article, please contact Apple Support if the troubleshooting in the article didn't resolve the issue:
If you tried all of these steps and your Wi-Fi issues persist, contact Apple technical support or take your Apple TV to the nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for diagnosis. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).
Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).

  • Apple TV sound bad when home sharing from Itunes

    Hello All,
When I go through the Apple TV menus to Computers and choose my library to play my music it sounds really bad. Almost a "tinny" or metallic sound and the voices sound faded back. Not sure how to fix this or if this is the best way to play my music through the TV. I do not have an airport yet (saving for a time machine) so I am running through a Verizon Fios wireless router. Not sure that is matters. Any help would be great. Thank
    RJ

Check the menus to see if you have Sound Check enabled for audio - if so turn it off.
Also, try streaming using Airplay to AppleTV from itunes (equalizer and other effects will be added).

  • Apple Mail Graphic Artifacts Bug?

For starters, I never encountered this issue with Lion.  But when I open Mail 6.0 (most of the time), I receive odd graphical artifacts around the message (especially messages that have graphics (i.e. pictures) on the right.  I took it to Apple and they said it's not my hardware, but a software issue.  Does anyone else have this problem? I'm hoping they fix this bug.  Thanks for any help.
Here is another person with same issue:

Hello, after clean installation of OS X 10.8 I got the same problem, still exists after updating to 10.8.1.

  • Can Apple replace my bad imei number?

I recently bought an iphone 5s from Craigslist. Deleted the number of the guy and everything. I activated the Phone and it worked for like an hour, then it stopped. AT&T told me it was reported stolen. The ohone is in excellent condition. So if I try to replace it with apple will they?

well you are the definition of a DOPE!!! First of all if you bought an iphone on craigslist from someone and paid good money for it, there's no way you'd hand it in to the police!! you'd do axactly what omar142 did and contact AT&T to find out what was going on (just to add if he robbed the phone theres no way he would of contacted AT&T). wishing bad luck on people... well who are you to talk about karma. i work for a network carrier company and the amount of people this happens to is unfair. Person who owns the iphone takes out insurance on it. Waits a few weeks hands it to a friend to sell. As soon as its sold the owner reports it stolen and claims a new iphone. And the poor person who bought the phone is left with a brick. Big scam here in the UK

  • Pal to NTSC Graphics Bad Quality

    Hi There,
I am currently working on a project which requires the conversion to Ntsc from PAL and for some reason , when I transfer a particular segment which I designed in Motion. It makes all of the graphics in the segment very badly pixelated and unwatchable.
I am using natress converter to do the transfer however it was also doing the same thing in final cut when I simply placed the pal .mtn file into the ntsc project.
    Very frustrating.
    Can anyone shed some light?

    Can anyone shed some light?
Maybe a bit, though there is much more expertise hanging around here than mine.
Standards conversion is a very dicey thing. Things have gotten a lot better over the years with the scaling part (525 lines to 625 lines). But the temporal part (30 frames into 25 and vice versa) is a lot harder to do well, and especially hard on clean sharp moving graphics. This is where even the best stuff (such as Natress) will show that it can't get you all the way.
Fortunately for you, you made this stuff. So going back into Motion and converting your stuff into a PAL environment will produce absolutely stunning results - almost 20% more stunning than your NTSC results. Pop them into your PAL sequence with your otherwise converted video footage and you'll be all set. If the Motion segments include some of the NTSC footage, then you'll want to replace them with PAL conversions of those clips.
Easier said than done - you'll have a bunch of math to do unless some genius comes in and says Motion has an automatic conversion mode. But the results will be great.

  • How to complain to Apple about some bad information I was given by one of their agents

I was recently scammed (although I didn't know it at the time).  I was aware that rarely do Apple users get scammed and when a window started flashing on my iMac screen telling me the computer had been compromised and giving a tel# for support, since the computer was frozen, I called the number, listened to their spiel, became cautious and hung up.  I called a local Apple store and asked the agent if the 800 number I gave to her was a valid Apple number (after explaining the freeze) and she said yes, it was.  I decided since it was an Apple number, I would go with the purge of the 'Zeus Trojan Virus' they claimed I had acquired about a week ago (I'm sure it was placed by them).  It cost $299.99 for the purge and an additional firewall.  Still suspicious, I managed to get Apple's number off the computer (which I couldn't when it was frozen) and talked with another Apple agent.  She said I had been scammed.  I wish Apple had given their local agent an education in how to handle calls like mine and thereby educate the Apple public.  Evidently the first agent had never heard of a possible scam or she didn't understand my question.  Who (and how) would I contact Apple to let them know their products are being scammed?

That was some extremely bad advice from the first Apple rep you talked to. The scammers removed nothing, other than maybe some random system files. Zeus is Windows only malware, so it was impossible for you to be infected with it to begin with.
Call your credit card company and do four things immediately.
    1) Explain what happened and have them reverse the charges.
    2) Have that card cancelled and a new one issued. They have the number now and can use it to make fraudulent purchases, or sell the number to other crooks who will.
    3) There's no telling what else they may have done. Such as copying personal data, or having you install a keylogger. Because of these possibilities, erasing the drive and reinstalling everything from scratch is a must. Manually backup your personal data, erase the drive, reinstall the OS and your third party software (NOTHING they had you install) and manually restore your personal data. You must do this before number 4.
4). With the drive cleaned of any possible malware that would allow them to watch what you're doing, go online and change the passwords of every site you visit that has that information. Start with your bank.

  • 2009 iMac Blue lines and crashing - Apple replaced graphics card but same problem occurs? Any advice?

    Hi all,
So Ive had my iMac 2009 model for a fair few years, and barring getting the hard drive replaced a while part as part of their program, no troubles. Then a month or less ago, I got this weird crash during work. Small cubes of vertical blue lines appeared all over the display and froze everything. The arrow cursor still moved but had to hard reset. Then it would just constantly freeze and the blue cubes appeared again on startup so I could only get in using Safe Mode.
After browsing the web, I heard a backup restore might fix it, which it seemed to, but then it kicked in again. Took it to Apple who could see no hardware issues and the problem didnt occur while I was there because of the restore, it was more intermittent. So I took it home and it happened again.
This time at the Apple Store, they told me it was definitely the graphics card and took it in for repair. Service was great and a few days later I get it back, pay for the repair and come home. All fine and no problem for a couple weeks.
Yesterday it kicks in again! Same problem, cant boot at all outside of Safe Mode, which is erratic, has 5 columns of blue lines across the screen and Mail flickers like ****.
Ive booked it in AGAIN at my local store to check, but my question is does anyone have experience of what this could be, and also if the first repair was wrongly diagnosed and didnt fix the problem, will Apple refund that, or offset it against the actual repair if something else needs replacing?
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated, all the best!
    Leo

new card or not, I guess only Apple themselve will know, but Apple Authorised Service Centre can only replace with original card. you may consider to get your fan replaced too, as your iMac is getting old now and the fan might be getting weak to cool your system down.
well, this is only a suggestion. I've been an IT technician for years, and I do encountered graphic card keeps failing till we changed the fan, just sharing my experience.

Where is apple supports response to these issues.
Well, you would actually have to contact Apple for their response instead of posting to these user to user support forums.

Read the Terms of Use.  They explicitly state that these forums are for users to assist users.

  • ITunes Match on Apple TV so bad...

... I almost envy the people who can't get it to work.
Of course, I listen to classical music most of the time and there's no support for that on the iPad either (except via third-party apps) so why should I expect anything better on Apple TV?
The problem, simply stated, is that the movements appear in the albums in the wrong order. There's nothing quite like listening to the movements of a symphony in some cockamamie order to really fulfill one's desires.
Ah well, the sounds not that great either and that's neither iTunes nor Apple TV's fault.
    Dave

I recommend first you check software update on the Apple TV to be certain you are up to date.  If you are up to date, I recommend you unplug power to the Apple TV, leave it unplugged for a few minutes, then plug it back in.  If that does not help, re-set the Apple TV.  The instructions for doing that are at this link.  If the link does not load, just reload it and it should show up.

  • Apple done a bad repair!

last week i took my Macbook Pro to my local authorized reseller to get it fixed for its poor battery life and a replacement topcase due to problems with the trackpad. yesterday i picked it up and took it home, upon checking to see if they did the job correctly i noticed that the eject button is higher than all the other buttons by half a cm. then i noticed that there are two small scratches on the topcase by the ctrl and command buttons, and finally the button to release the screen is very tough, and takes a but of pressure to release the screen.
to be honest before i brought my macbook pro to the repair centre it was in very good condition, and now these little problems are starting to **** me off. this is the 2nd time i brought my macbook pro to a repair centre due to continuous problems.
how shall i approach this problem, because i am obviously not happy with the repair of my macbook pro and overall the whole system as well. thanks in advance.

    hi quoc,
you approach the problem by contacting apple and see what they can do, take the machine back to the place it was repaired at and demand that they repair it properly.
i don't think it was anyone at apple directly who was responsible for the repair, so i don't know what apple can do. apple may just tell you this is an issue between you and the aasp that performed the "repair".
best case scenario: apple gives you a new computer as a replacement for your troubles or you get a full refund for the "repair" that was done (and have it repaired for free).
worst case: apple tells you it's between you and the aasp, and the aasp tries to pull a fast one on you by claiming the damage was there when it was given to them.
let's hope it's best case or close to it.

  • Apple graphic card replacement

    Hi,
I own mid 2011 iMac 3,4 i7 model with 6790 2GB graphic card which is broken.
Found Apple replacement program for those cards :
    http://9to5mac.com/2013/08/16/apple-opens-graphics-card-replacement-program-for- some-mid-2011-imacs/
Can someone tell me is this program available for Europe, (Croatia or Bosnia & Herzegovina) ?
    Best regards,
    Dzenox

    Thanks for replies,
I found almost  everything what you already mention here but it will be easy if would live in US.
Europe is also not a big problem, but my country Bosnia&Herzegovina does include some other conditions due to fact that  isn't listed at Apple page of countries.
We do have some resellers, but I want a clean proof so I can get some benefits from it.
Btw: it is the second time I have to change graphic card and I dont want to be charged.

  • USB to apple tv to fix bad load of software

So you sent my apple tv a bad load of software and now I have to buy a cable to fix it I plan to buy the cable and return it after use.  I recommend any one effected do the same till apple fixes their software and puts some quality back into their products

It's a network streaming device, of course issues with it are going to relate to your network. It would help to know the issue, and what you have done thus far before anyone can suggest anything.
