Thanks for the pointers folks. Yeah, 1.5GB is pretty poor isn't it? There are other suppliers, but you have to get a their phone line installed to access the internet so it's an £85 setup fee plus a day off work for a guy to come round and drill a hole in your wall before you even get to the monthly costs.
Don't get me wrong though - I'm certainly not an Apple basher, but am equally frustrated with both them and the ISP.
Virgin Media spend all kinds of money advertising their broadband as the fastest in the UK, but don't tell you (up front anyway) that you'll be cut off if you actually try and use it.
Apple on the other hand carry on with their 'it just works' mantra, but with Apple TV this only applies if you meet certain criteria (again, not mentioned up front).
I guess it aint a biggie, as i was gifted my Apple TV, and love all the other stuff it does, but from the number of posts on this forum can see that there's a lot of angry customers out there who want explanations as to why they're having similar problems to me.
Will be very interesting to see if Apple release any kind of software update that turns the flash drive from a buffer to permanent storage, to at least ease some of the pain...

When I play either music or movies on my ipod touch it stops every few seconds and I have to restart the song/film. Also, it won't hold a volume contol. It jumps louder or softer, or simply jams on either very low or maximum volume. Help?

Movies played in DivX player audio glitching every few seconds?
I have an MBP & I've noticed that everytime I watch a video/movie w/ DivX Player the movie will glitch every few seconds. DivX Player is my preferred program to watch movies/videos, so I haven't checked to see if it's also doing it w/ Quicktime etc.
Any ideas?If this were happening to me, I would try to narrow down the source of the problem by seeing if the problem persists by (1) logging in as a different user (e.g., Guest) and (2) starting up in Safe Mode. (1) Helps identify problems specific to your account, e.g., login items, preference files, etc., (2) helps identify third-party system-level conflicts.
If you can get to it, you might try trashing Finder preferences at ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. You could do this with Terminal. Also, try dumping Sophos. -
ITunes window keeps poping up to front every few seconds
Hello, My iTunes (10.5.2.11) on Win 7 (x86) keeps popping up to the front every few seconds even though there's no message box or bullitin. This might have something to do with every time I start iTunes I get a warning that some of the registry keys are currupted for some iTunes CD drivers and that I should re-install iTunes. This however doesn't help because I've done a complete uninstall, removed all remaining iTunes registry keys, and deleted all related iTunes files and reinstalled the program. Even after all that, I still get the same error. It might have something to do with the fact that the internal CD drive (on my/this laptop) is not functional.
Update: One of the kernel updates fixed it. I don't know exactly which version fixed it.

Hello All,
I just got Apple TV and decided to rent a movie for my kids. The movie appeared to download very rapidly. We got a message that said it would be available in 50 minutes but then it showed we could start playing it about a minute after we got that initial message. When we started playing the movie, it kept pausing every couple of minutes. It made it unwatchable. Has anyone experienced this problem before?

Nik HThe Apple TV calculates when the movie can start and guarantee uninterrupted playback, this of course depends on a fairly consistent Internet speed. If your Internet speed fluctuates you may see the behaviour you have noticed and you may wish to wait a while before actually starting the movie.

i activated the voiceover feature and now i can not deactivate the feature. from general it keeps going reading and does not scroll
Turn it off using iTunes, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3577. If your colors are inverted, also go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn Invert Colors to Off.

Ipad keeps shutting down then restarting every few seconds to few minutes

Tried powering on again after syn. Apple logo appeared for a few seconds then disappeared and now can not turn on. This is a replacement unit, only have had for 4 days

Why is Apple TV movie rentals to expensive?
I love my Apple TV, but I can go down the street and get 4 Movies at Redbox for the price of one rental on Apple TV.
Apple should reduce the price of movies rentals to $1.00!!!Forgive me if my solution to your problem is oversimplistic, but if the movies are too expensive for you, don't buy them.

Welcome to the Apple community.
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals. -

I have a classic, several years old.
It will not recharge; the Apple logo flashes every few seconds then disappears.
I have tried the 'reboot' advice i.e. move the Hold switch on and off, hold the Menu and Center buttons, no success.

I have an apple id and it has my current email attached to it. however when i go to update apps it's asking for the password for an old email. I no longer have the old email and can't use it. when I go to icloud on my ipad it asks for the password for old email. it doesn't allow me to change the old email to current. when i go to reset it i can't remember the password or security questions for the old email so it doesn't let me go any further. How do I fix this? Do i need to call apple support?
I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?
